A great spot for a casual weeknight meal. We tried a few their dishes (see photos), and standouts really were their dumplings. I enjoyed both boiled and fried pork dumplings. Yum!

Great little place in town. Ducked in for a nice quiet lunch and was pleasantly surprised by this little gem. Wasn't too busy when I was there which was great. Food was really good which was a shock given the lack of patronage? I suppose it may have been due to time of day and year.

Mr Wei’s is conveniently close to the canberra Theatre making it a good spot to try for a pre-theatre dinner. Prices are quite high, but it does offer 25% discount for the Canberra Entertaimnet Card and BYO wine at $10 per bottle. It also has some very delicious choices that can be shared which  makes the final price reasonable.

We found this place after checking out several other Chinese restaurants around Canberra City and decided to try them out as it was very clean and full of customers - always a good sign!

We ordered the Crispy Chicken in Golden Sands, Pan-fried Vegetarian Dumplings and Veg Fried Rice to share. The outstanding winner was the Crispy Chicken without a doubt - the flavours all came together and worked nicely with the fresh lettuce cups.

The only disappointment I found was that we were not offered fresh bowls after the entree, which would have been preferable as the Crispy Chicken was quite 'crumby'. Also, soy sauce was served in a small bowl with a teaspoon rather than a bottle, which made it difficult to administer.

Overall however, the food was delish and well priced, so very happy with the experience!

For some reason there was a craving for duck. Maybe it was just that I hadn't had Peking duck for a very long time and the memories of China and my favourite duck of all time in London was on my mind. Luckily Mr. Wei's not only specialises in Beijing duck but also conveniently has an Entertainment Book 25% coupon. - Baby eggplant - I thought that for a balanced meal with vegetables, fried eggplant was a good idea. It was a decent mix of sauce and fried eggplant whilst waiting for the duck, but largely unnecessary; - Beijing duck - a whole duck is a huge amount for 2 people. The duck skin wasn't particularly crisp (which was a bit disappointing) and had a small fat layer (less than is traditional but more than I probably prefer for eating without picking it off) and reasonably soft meat. Once wrapped up, it was a nice combination without having an overly memorable duck flavour; - Duck soup - this was a delicious strongly flavoured duck broth (like I'd want my duck congee to taste) with tofu, vegetables and meat. On a cold night, this was hearty and soul-warming; - Duck fried rice - the filler dish that was more. Duck fatty meat and skin pieces bringing flavour and fragrance to fried rice. Much better than expected. Overall although the duck wasn't as good as I'd hoped (or expected), the overall meal was lifted very well by the soup and fried rice. I'll definitely be back with my next Entertainment Book voucher. I wouldn't get the extra entree next time.

Don't be put off by the rating. I nearly didn't go and that would have been a HUGE mistake! Dumplings were delicious but the Peking duck...amazing! Give it a go...perfect before a show at the canberra theatre!

I've enjoyed quite a few lunch and dinner meals here and really enjoy the genuine, almost clumsy but well meaning service... The prices are on the higher side but the food is spectacular! Set aside an extra ten bucks and enjoy this lovely place with fine dining quality.

Superb Beijing Duck and Eggplant. Just had Chinese New Year with a group of eight.

Must agree about the service which is oddly well meaning, but the food more than makes up for it. The Beijing Duck is as good as I have had anywhere else including Sydney and Melbourne. Cooked to perfection, not fatty or greasy at all, light and golden and full of flavor.

The Baby Eggplant is a joy to look at and melts in the mouth, and good as it was everything else matched.

Definitely a go back. Dine don't quick lunch, not that it is expensive, quite the contrary, we ate very well for $35 a head including corkage and tips.

Food is good. its delicious. service is excellent. but is a bit expensive considering there are other restaurants within the vicinity with just as good of a quality. But unlike restaurants like Blue ginger this place charges rice as per bowl instead of per head. the chairs are very uncomfortable. next time I'm ordering takeaway.

Beijing roast duck place with yum fried dumplings too 😋 little bit expensive for some of the dishes you get but quality over quantity.

Food was great! It was tasty and come in generous portion. There is a good mix of flavour. We ordered pan fried dumplings among other things and they were delicious. It's rather busy as we went there for dinner on Saturday night so make sure you book a table.

The staff was so friendly and helpful. The meals came out really quickly. The meals were all delicious. We had the duck with pancakes and it was delicious. The eggplant starter was crisp and tasty. The steak was tender. Fried rice was fresh and tasty. It was the most tender pork belly with a lovely sauce. I was glad we ordered a side of vegetables as it balanced the meals with a light and crisp, yet subtle taste.

We have been to Mr. Weis which is situated in Canberra a few times, each time we are in Canberra, we visit. Its usually well attended so its better to contact them prior to attending to book a table. It is has no frills table settings but the food is great. There is a large varied menu as well as blackboard daily specials. The meals are delivered pretty promptly. The prices are a bit above average but I suppose that comes with the quality of the food and it is popular. Thanks Mr. Weis for tea. They also allowed excess food to be taken home.

This place is awesome! The food is amazing! The menu is quite small but what's on the menu is perfect!! The service is always fantastic! Also to the person who gave Mr Wei's 1 star, I don't know where you were eating but it wasn't Mr Wei's! They don't serve lamb chops!!
