This is the best coffee I have ever had. Amazing customer service; very friendly and knowledgeable staff! I tried a long black coffee that I never usually have because it’s too bitter but the one they recommended has change my view on coffee.
As far as food goes, The Steam Engine had some great gluten free options for me as well. Top notch!
Simply an oasis in a dessert of bad coffee in Chatswood.
There is such a good energy and friendliness in the coffee shop. There is a que and a wait early in the morning, however everyone is happy and positive and the coffee is worth the wait.
My ritual after a gym work out is to pick up a takeaway coffee, a beautiful start to the day.
I recommend this place highly, especially if you love a great coffee.

I like to have my long black before heading to the city Wednesday Thursday every week and this place never disappoint me! The service is excellent, the guy at the register is explaining to the customers the type of blend they have. They are serving Toby's Estate. The atmosphere is great...I have nothing bad to say. Well done guys! Keep up the good work!

Perfect coffee take-and-run .. standards are high with pride dropped in the shots. Great healthy sides and smoothies as well. Favourite -> bircher muesli cup with blueberry / strawberry topper.. perfect with a grande latte !!
The place look so funky, always a lot of people hanging around during the day. Super convenient location being on the corner of the intersection between the train station, bus station & the mall. The coffee was good, I would prefer it a bit stronger, but it was smooth & not bitter.
Perfect place to grab a coffee whenever you are at the Chatswood Interchange, I usually have the regular cappuccino, take one for my wife as she loves coffee. Also tried the cold brew, found the concept interesting and the coffee intense.
Tiny place but has a nice warm feeling to it, haven't tried the breakfast or lunch here, will come back for it.

Place is tiny but cozy.
They sell also v 60 coffee drippers for $30
Their coffee is their forte though I went for their "Turmeric & Vanilla" hot beverage.
Also had a toasted "Soy & Linseed Sourdough with avocado and vegemite".
The beverage had a fantastic aroma. Taste-wise it was pleasant being able to taste turmeric and a slight hint of vanilla - was not overpowering or overly sweet at all.
Would definitely have it again if other stores run out of soup again though it is unfortunately expensive at $8!
The sourdough was as expected - tough with a specified aftertaste.
I make my sandwich mixing the avocado and vegemite together to avoid the strong tanginess so it was difficult to enjoy this but not bad for a bite. Took a while to make though.

The coffee here is really very good and the staff are really friendly however the coffee is way overpriced so I usually go to the others nearby
Pretty much one of the best takeaway coffee shops around Chatswood area.
The only drawback is that the wait times are usually quite high and could easily be upto 15min wait sometimes (and mostly atleast 10min wait).
The customer service is quite nice and friendly and they would even remember your name (to put on the coffee cup for your order) after a few visits.
The best single origin espresso I have ever had in Sydney. Will definitely go back ……….

These guys are always on point...coffee, service and food. Can't fault them. Best coffee joint in Chatswood using Toby's and you probs wouldn't even know it's Toby's because they execute it better than the roasters themself. Good stuff Steam Engine, good stuff.

Recently started working at Chatswood and Steam Engine instantly became my favourite coffee shop there, hands down. Super friendly staff (good looking too) and their house blend tastes great, their batch brew & cold brews are also must try.
Had my coffee here this morning at it was great. Vapor coffee. So good that they serve 6oz coffees and lend jars if customers have forgotten their keep cups. Great environmentally-conscious cafe. Loved the interior design too and the use of space.
