I was strolling around in Fitzroy-Collingwood area enjoying the weather when I found this cozy bakery cafe full of locals. One of the workers recommended me 'Crispy Pork Belly Banh Mi' so I decided to give that a go. I was first surprised by the generous portion of meat inside the fresh baguette. Pork Belly was crispy but slightly dry on the outside. Regardless, it was soft, fatty and juicy inside! I also liked how it was filled with fresh veggies with lots of chili and coriander - just perfect! :) Overall, it sure was delicious but nothing outstandingly special. Worth a visit only if you are in the areađź‘Ś
Bloody brilliant Banh Mi with cold meats. Pate was spot on! Egg, Bacon and cheese toastie just so moorish. These guys know what they are doing. Get there before 12 to avoid the massive queue.
N.Lee is very famous for their Bahn Mi in Melbourne. So I went there to try them out. After the first bite, they became one of my favorites. I got a grilled pork Bahn Mi ($6.30) with a little bit of chili. Vietnamese chili is the spiciest one I’ve ever had so I add a very small amount which is enough to add a little bit of kick to the flavor of the dish.
Wow. We drove a long way based on reputation and it did not disappoint.
One of the best proportioned banh mi’s in the country. Excellent crunchy tiger bread that does not crumble, making it a low mess affair with a perfect ratio of crunch, marinated meats and pickled perfection.
Highly recommend
Banh Mi thats all we need to say this place is an institution in the Collingwood area and its a reputation that has been rightly deserved.Â
Doesn't matter what time of the day there is always someone lining up for a Banh mi here.Â
Not to mention they are reasonably priced and won't break the bank. They also have some favourites here as well. Traditional sandwiches, hot food, pies, sausage rolls and donuts as well as other tasty treats.Â
Outside of the banh mi, we love their spring roll snack packs.
A recommendation for anyone in the area.
Probably the closest bánh mi you will get to being like what you'll find in the Vietnamese enclave of Footscray/St Albans/Abbotsford! Perfect for when you crave a baguette with proper Asian butter/mayo and pate.
This place has to be one of the best value lunches in Melbourne. There is always a line outside this place and for good reason. The grilled BBQ pork rolls are to die for and the only thing you should decide on is chilli or no chilli. Trust me this won’t disappoint. How do you give 6/5 stars.........
Came here just now. Ordered myself a pork roll and they made me two! Paid for both so didn’t get any special treatment but did get two bloody good pork rolls. Didn’t get anything else and I’m now back at work getting ready to get back into it.
Love this place !! Amazing Service! Really well priced food great place for breakfast on your way to school or work, can get quite busy but definitely worth the wait! They always are super lovely and friendly here :) I recommend the Vietnamese iced coffee, pastries are super good too :D

Do love these simple bakeries which are in three locations around Melbourne. This one today is in Smith Street, Collingwood. I can always tell by the queues that they are popular and gets extremely busy during lunch hour.
I had a crispy pork belly banh mi which was awesome with generous portion size. Under $10 with a drink.
This is mostly for takeaway although there are some tables outside.
I'm told the Vietnamese rolls are good so will try them next time.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Pram/stroller friendly. Parking - well it's Smith Street so watch out for vigilant parking inspectors.
I read a lot of great reviews about this place before visiting and I'm going to add to that collection!!!. I visited on a Sunday lunch time and had the BBQ chicken on a wholemeal roll with extra coriander. OMG it was packed with flavour and filling and all for a bargain $6.50!!! I have to say this is one of the best cheap eats around inner city Melbourne so head on down and try it out for yourself. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
Great banh mi’s here. Ordered the crispy pork banh mi and a meat pie for a friend. Bread was soft on inside and crunchy on outside, and generous with the crispy pork. Only issue I had here was it was on the little expensive side for a banh mi ($9.30). Accepts EFTPOS which is handy!
Highly recommend going to Peel Street Park and eating there out in the sun.
N. Lee banh mi lives up the hype for being one of the best in Melbourne and most accessible for those living in the inner city. Not all fillings are created equal with the best flavour to try is the chicken and pork combo. Whipped Mayo is the binding spread here which I gladly welcomed.
Drinks on the otherhand were average and slightly subpar with a dearer price tag if you're going for Vietnamese coffee/drinks.
Service is as expected and they're a lovely shopfront and I recommend this place and the options yoy can get.
Alright I'm going to say it. This was the best Bánh mì I have ever had. Was the crispy pork and I loved it!
Fresh bread, meat cooked to perfection, ratio of the ingredients on point. Not a dull bite! Thoroughly enjoyed!!
Will be back for more.
Legendary Bahn mi on Smith Street. Decently priced and always hella fresh. Can get quite busy around lunch hours so best to get in early if you want to be out in a decent time.
