Review Ryo's Noodles - Crows Nest

E Teo
A Ramen institution in Sydney - Ryo's Noodles has been around for as long as I can remember. Reasonable price, good value and good food. The only downside is be prepared to wait for table unless you arrive early, as the place is tiny and cosy. Must try!!!
Roger Shan
Great ramen if you live in northern Sydney. Not the best but would be a top 5 within Sydney for me. Service was good, food arrived within 10minutes of ordering. Price was reasonable and the seating is quite small so expect abit of a wait if you are going during peak hr.

One of the best ramen in Sydney but tainted by the queue. Not worth the wait Flavourful broth and highlight is the melt in the mouth chashu. The classic Tonkotsu ramen and karaage chicken was delicious. The sour prawn ramen was very sour and not to my liking. Limited seating inside and always a queue. We arrived and there was 16 people before us. Took us 55min to be seated. Would recommend making the queue more worthwhile like offering complimentary hot tea while waiting

Honestly one of the best Ramen places in Sydney. The Ramen is delicious and really nicely balanced on the palate without being too heavy like some Ramen broths. The sides also don't disappoint. The cosy atmosphere and chill Japanese vibes are great. The LoFi music playing matched the vibe and helped set the perfect mood. If you're looking for a place to warm up and get good food on a cold and rainy day it would be hard to find somewhere better.

As delicious as I could remember from 13 years ago. Big and yummy onigiri, good delicious heart-warming broth and chewy ramen noodle, fantastic gyozas!!! Long queue but moved pretty quickly during dinner hour

Strong contender for best ramen in Sydney so far. I've had Gogyo, Gumshara and Ichiban Boshi but this comes first. Their soy tonkotsu and fish+tonkotsu ramen have tasty broth, perfectly cooked noodle and good toppings. Their charshu is on the lean side and egg is a bit overcooked for my taste. They have option to have a less salty broth, which is nice. Also when they say they close at 2PM, they really mean their last order for lunch is 2PM.

Finally able to try the ramen at Ryo's Noodles and it was totally worth the hype. Got there at 11.20 with only 2 people ahead of us. We were seated once they opened and the restaurant quickly filled up. This humble Japanese restaurant serves the best ramen! I ordered the spicy pork and the broth was delicious to say the least! Will be back for more!
Simon Overall
Definitely one of the best ramen ships in Sydney. The pork broth is rich and flavourful. They don't skimp on toppings either. Definitely worth being there early for as tables are limited.

Ryo's was amazing!!!<br/><br/>We ordered:<br/>🍜the spicy tonkotsu was 7.5/10<br/>noodles, eggs and pork suited the broth well but the dish didnt really suit my partners preferences :/ <br/><br/>🍜soy sauce tonkotsu was 8.5/10 <br/>slightly on the saltier side but was very well flavoured (i think you can ask to have the ramen soup less saltier), the pork, bokchoy and egg were an amazing addition! all worked very well together as a whole~<br/><br/>đŸ„Ÿgyozas were 10/10 <br/>we had to order another serving!! was crispy on one side and very juicy and flavourful on the inside 😍. Best Gyoza i have tried in Sydney imo. <br/><br/>Their service was amazing! Servers were fairly efficient and I appreciated the cleanliness of the store in addition to the hand sanitizers and separated seating areas especially during this pandemic!! <br/><br/>Unfortunately half way through my meal, a mosquito flew into my soup, and they had kindly offered me to replace it with another bowl! Was very considerate of them and I was able to enjoy my meal to its full extent thanks to the kind team ❀ <br/><br/>Definitely will be coming back to try more ramen and their other sides

Best ramen in Sydney!!! Always love coming here. Small restaurant with good local vibe. Plenty of Japanese writing on the wall and food is authentically delicious.

Really yummy dishes!

Great Noodles and Delicious Ramen!! Must Try in Sydney.<br/><br/>The noodles were so good you can have it on its own with soup and you'd be satisfied! Broth was great as well with flavours seeping from each spoonful.⁣⁣⁣<br/><br/>The egg I prefer a bit more runny, but that's about it. Unfortunately no ramen take-away option so definitely line up early! Lunch for example, get there no later than 12:15pm as there will be a line.⁣<br/>⁣⁣⁣<br/>Karaage is a must-have here as it is made to crisp perfection and the soy sauce marinade has a hit of unami on the tastebuds 😋

Loved the tonkotsu broth of this ramen shop, it has depth, smoky, garlicky and not too greasy. The fish and pork tonkotsu broth is a bit blander, an option if you’re looking for a less rich option. <br/><br/>The noodles are harder than most ramen place, which is how i liked it. <br/>Serving is big, appreciate the thickness of the chashu as well.<br/>Everything is in paper bowls due to covid. <br/><br/>I wish they have an option for people to order takeaway outside of shop as it can get a bit crowded, but i’m happy people are returning to restaurants regardless :)

Its rare to get such quality and authentic Ramen in Australia. Only tried to one so far and will be back to explore further.

I just don't get why this place is popular. I really don't. Having tried over 20 ramen spots in Japan and easily 20-30 in Sydney, there's so so many better options out there. Perhaps their location and lack of<br/>competition in the local area is part of their success. But for me, there's so many better choices in Chatswood and Neutral Bay.
Babe
Ordered #3 spicy pork noddles. Soup has rich flavor. Dumplings are really good. Karaage tastes average. Very busy and people waiting outside for a long time, but worth it. Tastes better than Ippudo
Niniko
The taste was average, I don’t understand why so many people were happy to queue outside(yeah, me too), I thought a family sat next to me ruined my appetite as they ordered too much food and messed them everywhere in the table. Terrible memory! Customer service was good.

Ryo's hype and fame definitely precedes its taste. Still one of the better bowls in Sydney, but it's rating is far above some of its superior competitors. Favourite here is the soy tonkotsu, which is quite balanced but lacks complexity. Owner apparently hails from Fukuoka but this is a far far cry from proper Hakata tonkotsu ramen which is much deeper in flavour and uses thin noodles. <br/><br/>Worth a visit if you're nearby but I find it quite hard to justify the lines. Prices have also risen due to popularity but not yet to the point where it should be considered overpriced.
Frog&Nutella
I had been meaning to eat at this restaurant for months, and I'm so glad I finally did. We waited around 10 minutes to get in. Once inside, the service is pretty efficient. The tonkotsu ramen and cold noodles both tasted great.
Weekendfoodescapes
I've been to Ryo's many times and most locals in Sydney would know about Ryo's and how it is famous for its ramen. It's known for it's ramen rather than decore or anything else. I think it's a nice cheap and cheerful restaurant.Ryo's is a tiny little restaurant which is located away from the main strip of Crows Nest. We are able to typically find parking a street or two away.

Hidden ramen gem in Crows Nest!<br/>Small restaurant but usually very busy, if you’re planning to eat here then better come 30 minutes earlier.<br/>Tried some of the ramen and side dishes, ramen was delicious, karage was nice but the gyoza’s average.<br/>Personal favorite is ramen in spicy soup, although needed to spice it up with more pepper, could finish whole bowl and empty the soup :p<br/>Recommended for ramen lovers and if you ever crave for a good ramen, this place is the one to visit!

Roy’s Noodles is a popular causal Japanese restaurant that specialises in ramen. My favourite is the tonkotsu ramen. Make sure you go early as there’s always a long queue, I missed out once by going too close to the closing time.
Miss Song
We went there around 6:30pm on Sunday, lined 30 mins to get a seat. We were surprised by the decoration of this tidy but very friendly ramen place. Ordered 2 bowls of ramen, service was quick.
YARM
Even though we arrived shortly after Ryo's opened shop at 5pm, there was already a steady line to get inside! Once we made it in, we were seated at the bar and I was surprised by how modestly decorated and small the interior was for a restaurant that has received so many rave reviews - which probably speaks to the exceptional quality and taste of the food instead! <br/><br/>We ordered two bowls of ramen and they were delicious and full of flavour. However, surprisingly what I loved most was the CHICKEN KARAAGE - literally the tastiest I have ever had, it wasn’t too fried but achieved the perfect balance between crunchy and tender and juicy - it was definitely YARM, I’d return for the chicken!

First time coming here, the wait at 7:30pm was around 30 mins on a Sunday night. Tried the number 1 ramen listed on menu. It was tasty and the pork so tender and delicious. I find the broth to be a tad salty for my tastes however there are multiple signs around the walls stating options for reduced salt- might try this next time! Lovely service from the staff.
Stephy.happy.tummy
We had the special and chicken clear soup ramen. I prefer the special ramen as the soup is tasty with a little bit of chilli oil that gives you some heat. Staff are friendly and nice too.

I had a great time at this place, we went earlier to get a seat. It was already busy and as soon as we finished there was a long line waiting to get into this place. Service is friendly and prompt and noodles were really good! I enjoyed my sides of bamboo shoots, roasted pork slices and gyoza. Would come back again
Hooboobakeep
The queue at outside was long, and glad that it’s just 15mins around. Ramen a bit soften, but I believe it’s possible to be adjust if I requested while ordering as I saw they posted the paper around and noticed the flavour could be adjust heavier or lighter, so I think it is really nice service!gyoza and fried chicken is just normal. Should get it if you feel wanna try sth more than ramen.
MrM
Cute and cosy place to go out for an authentic ramen. I actually didnt mind the wait outside and the fact that you may have to sit at tables with people you don't know. It may not be everyones cup of tea but the place is limited with space. One thing they are amazing at is service. You won't wait long for your food. We ordered some kimchi, endamame beans and gyozas to start with yumm. We then followed with #7 and #8. The broth was creamy and full of flavour although lacking a bit of seasoning for my liking. I can't say anything negative from there. How do i put it hmmm... the quality of this ramen was japanese precision :D
CampauieEats
This place i would say i had the most authentic japanese ramen experience. The broth of the ramen is really flavourful. And what really brings it up a notch is the noodles. For me it had the right texture, al dente but a little bit chewy, just how i prefer it to be. We also ordered the soft-shelled crab, karaage chicken, and gyoza as side dishes. Theyre pretty tasty. Had to wait in line for 45minutes one cold winter night, and i can say that its worth the wait. They should consider expanding the space to accomodate more people in.
TheBearReview
I am no Ramen connoisseur, but on a cold winter day, steaming hot noodle soup always hit the spot. Some say the ramen here is too salty, I find it the same but not unpleasantly so. <br/>Definitely a local gem, it is much better value than the chainstores like Ippudo.
Pam
A bit of a wait outside. The interior isn’t that fancy, but the restaurant was very hygienic. My broth was slightly saltier than I prefer (tonkotsu), but overall quite satisfying, do recommend.
Savagefoodaholic
Great local ramen shop in crows nest. Considered one of the best ramen shops in Sydney. I don’t understand why some reviews saying they hated the waiting line. But clearly they haven’t eaten outside of Australia. Just like Japan, if there’s a line, definitely go eat there. <br/><br/>Inside the restaurant is full of Japanese menu written on the walls. Some tables were sharing which didn’t bother me at all as most Asian country restaurants are shared table. <br/><br/>I had the ramen in soy sauce flavored soup. Not bad considering most of the other ramen places in Sydney, but definitely far from the ones in Japan. Reasonable price for ramen but didn’t get the snacks as they seemed average and nothing spectacular.<br/><br/>** For more food photos follow me on insta @savagefoodaholic **

I think this place needs an updated 2018 review. Most reviews I’ve seen about Ryo’s is all the cheap eats under $10 from 2015. This is sadly no longer the case. But that aside, the ramen aren’t bad. They are good, but not great. It is a little on the pricey side atm. Especially all of the side dishes. Fried chicken was $9 for like 5 small pieces. Cold dipping ramen was like $16. But the part they annoyed me the most besides the wait outside (due to its small shop) is that you have to pay for even garlic and chili. And the meats are dry. And extra noodle cost $3.50. 4 of us had ramen for lunch, cost us $80. Which was a little nuts considering we had dinner at chathai for $82 the night before and was so full from dinner. Oh and please don’t do the rice ball things.

I was used to the ' modern ' ramens that are served around Sydney, until I came across Ryo. Authentic & simple, ramens served here are amazing. The Spicy Pork is my usual order
Rachael
Friday night line up took about half an hour tops to get in for hot bowls of ramen!<br/>My favourite was the number 1 pork tonkatsu broth. <br/>We also tried a pork bun for $4.50. It was quite a big bun and tasty but I think we could skip that one next time.<br/>The second favourite broth was the soy sauce broth followed closely by the miso broth.<br/>Yummy night out!
Yani.thimios
Very popular joint. Get ready to get in line. Next time (which will be soon) I’ll be bringing a line beer. Always makes any line more enjoyable. Once you get in you get served quickly, brought food quickly, smash some tasty ramen quickly and then get the fudge out

For 3.5 years, we wanted to try this place but every time, we walked past it, there was a queue. It's also not in the most convenient place, public transport wise. Finally, on a hot summer day with 44 degrees, there was no queue. We jumped on that opportunity and it is the best ramen I have had in Sydney so far. The broth is the right consistensy and spice level, the pork was delicious, tender and melting in my mouth and the egg was accurately medium boiled and I'm picky about how my eggs should be boiled! When we left, there was a queue outside! It's a super small and cosy venue but I guess that's also part of its charm.
Yuyu
Tonkotsu ramen was too salty for me.And I felt like it was overpriced. I don’t get it why locals like Ryo’s noodle. I will never come back to here.
Phfat
There is always a line to get in here, but it moves fairly quickly. We ordered (3) spicy pork ramen (4) miso pork ramen and gyoza. I much preferred the miso pork ramen, it had a stronger flavour than the spicy pork which was very salty. That being said, there is an option to ask the staff for less salt if you want. The gyoza were delicious, the best ones I've had in a while. The filling was super tasty and they were nice and crispy.

I found this place randomly while i was visiting north sydney. staffs are very nice, I had hot spicy pork ramen, it’s delicious! and somehow the restaurant ambience makes me feel like home.
Wannabe Foodie
I had my first taste of ramen at this place! Hopping out of school during a free period and learning how to use chopsticks while eating delicious hot ramen. This place is popular with the locals and a definite hit on a cold rainy day!

I've been here twice, once several years ago and once most recently. On both occasions, I wanted to love it. This unfortunately was not the case. Don't get me wrong, this place was good, it wasn't bad in any way, I just didn't walk away loving it so much that I wanted to come back (like the impression I got from many other reviews).<br/><br/>We arrived at 6pm on a Saturday night. Luckily there weren't too many people in the queue at the time, perhaps 3 tables worth and our wait was about 15 minutes. Inside is a cosy atmosphere and although I could not read the Japanese signs which display some menu items (no worries there's an English menu), I liked the feel of the restaurant. Some of the reviews mention needing to share tables, this was the case for us. We didn't mind, but it was very obvious I could hear everything the couple next to us were discussing and it would have been the same for our own conversations too. This was a little distracting so it's probably not the place to take someone on a first date.<br/><br/>We had number 6 - tokyo style chicken broth ramen. This was nicely flavored, simple but good. We also had number 3 - spicy pork based broth. This broth is not very spicy which is great for those who are not very comfortable with spicy dishes but want to have a little heat. I would have preferred a richer broth for tonkotsu. The eggs were really well prepared and the chasu was good.<br/><br/>The serving sizes were pretty big, I couldn't finish my ramen and needed help. We didn't get a chance to try side dishes but if we went with more people I would definitely order more things to try.<br/><br/>

Yah, I have to say this is one of the very few places in Sydney that serve ramen like japan. They have kept up the quality, has not been water down. Either go there super early or be prepared to wait. The food is excellent, if the line doesn’t go around the corner I normally wait.
Gourmet Hero
There are many great reviews about this ramen joint. And this review is no different. High quality ramen, always long queue outside and opening hours are short. Such a pity that there’s no takeaways option! <br/>
Irene
After reading all the reviews and hearing about this place for a long time thought I should finally check it out. I ordered the salt tonkotsu and my partner ordered the spicy tonkotsu, orders arrived within minutes! <br/>Both soups were just warm, the noodles tasted store bought and were over cooked. The broths lacked in any flavour at all and tasted extremely watered down. <br/><br/>If your used to instant noodles then this is a small step up from that, If not there are far better places in Sydney to get your ramen fix. They might have been having an off day but I definitely won’t be returning any time soon after that experience!
Andrew C
Authentic Japanese Ramen, really high quality. The interior of the shop is a little bit old and cramped, and you may end up on a share table. There’s frequently a long line outside. It’s worth the wait. <br/><br/>The Ramen in miso and Ramen in soy sauce are great. The ramen in salt with mix veges and squid was not to my liking though<br/><br/>Location is a bit odd though there is not much else around so if you decide the line was too long there are not many other options
Xlittlecupcake
First time trying this place and I will be back :) super tasty ramen broth and toppings, I got the spicy pork ramen and excited to try out the others!
Harry Sanger
Best Ramen in Sydney and dare I say Australia. Will not disappoint you ever if you know your ramen.<br/><br/>Spicy number 3 comes highly recommended although the special and Soy based are also 10/10
Ainy Zheng
This place has never disappointed me. They always serve good foods and very consistent. I love the noodle that is cooked perfectly and the tasty soup is to die for! Their Crows Nest store is still my favorite!
Chinmay Khisty
Good luck with the queues at this place. If you do manage to get in you’d know what the fuss is about. Simple, filling, delicious bowls of ramen. I always order either the spicy ramen with roast pork or the ramen with the prawn balls for which they always run out of prawn balls so they use a substitute but awesome nonetheless.<br/>Must try.
Kristen Chan
One of the most authentic Japanese ramen shops I've been to in Sydney- comparable to what I've had on trips to Japan. Tasted amazing and service was great
Ankith Ravindran
I always used to see long queues whenever I passed by this restaurant t and wanted to try. Got a chance to try it and it was absolutely brilliant. Well worth the wait. Can't complain about anything.
FluffyHamster
The food was actually ok but the portions were pretty big. Didn’t finish all the food. I have been to a lot of ramen places so maybe I am a bit fussy. I think the soup flavour is a bit plain. But the fried chicken was pretty yummy but quite salty. And the rice ball is HUGE HUGE HUGE!!!!
Pawel Malczewski
We were curious why this restaurant has such good rating so decided to check it out. Typical ramen, well prepared, tasty, fast service, reasonable prices.  Standing in a queue may be a problem if it rains, otherwise it is worth waiting. Ryo's lacks an X-factor but is one of those good restaurants that is worth visiting from time to time. You won't be disappointed if you like ramen.
Taz
Some places have the best chicken (Hakata Gensuke Chicken - Melb, obviously) or best tsukemen (probably Taro's - Bris); but Ryos' are excellent across the board, which for me makes it the best ramen place in the country.
Memo
A lot of hype online and via the grapevine meant arriving early and knowing what we wanted. Our group was super hungry and we each got a different ramen. I got the soy tonkotsu ramen with pork.<br/><br/>We also tried the karrage, gyoza and special pork bun. The pork bun was dry towards the end. We were told to dip the bun into a concoction of vinegar and soy sauce. This was interesting! The karrage and gyoza were both great and saved the meal. The karrage was a large serving and really tender and well fried. The gyoza was beautiful and was not oily. It had clean flavours.<br/><br/>As for the ramen, I was disappointed in that there wasn't much noodle or pork. I finished everything very quickly. However, the star of the dish should have been the broth and even this was a little lacking. I thought it would be a lot thicker, which it wasn't. I was super thirsty within an hour of my meal.<br/><br/>I will go out on a limb and say that I prefer Gamshara and Ichi Ban Boshi over Ryo's. It was a solid meal but I wouldn't travel all the way to the weird location of the shop to only eat ramen. I would probably be more inclined to visit if I was local.<br/><br/>*****<br/>Take note that this is of course all based on my unqualified opinion!<br/><br/>My considerations: 1. Food 2. Value 3. Service 4. Atmosphere

It was a scorching Sunday in Sydney with temperatures hitting the 40’s. But that did not stop us from driving all the way to Crows Nest, queuing for at least 20mins for a bowl of hot tasty ramen!. Yes, we had to queue that long for 3 people because it was so popular! Luckily there was shade but that did not stop the humidity from unleashing its powers to make us sweat. There was a menu outside for your to quickly choose what you want to so you order straightaway as soon as you get seated inside. It is a small place but is easy to spot due to the long lines!
Sophia Peach
Their signature noodles with thin straight noodles is the best. Soup is thick but not too heavy. One of the best Ramen Iv ever bad. Service is quick. Always a huge line but worth the waiting
Marcus
I have only ever been there for lunch, and half of the time it is closed. During the week at 1 pm, closed. Today, the 12th of September at 2 pm, sorry we are closed. Good food, but if you drive there just to find it closed, not very good.
The Engineer Eats
Ventured into Crows nest for the famous Ryo's ramen noodles. It was very satisfying! 🍜 I had the ramen with the pork + fish broth. It's actually not in the menu, I only found out about it through a recommendation from a friend. A must try!
Mamimin
Sydneys best Ramen !! Authentic Japanese atmosphere, feels just like Japan inside, and the service is fast and very friendly (: the soup is so rich and reminds me of the ramen in Japan!
Mrs Maveric
The taste of the broth is thick. Noodle is very tangling. The quality of food is good but hard to come back to there due to the tiny space. Never felt comfortable to eat there. Staff wasn't that helpful to interact, but it is okay. The taste of noodle covers some of the flows. If you look for excellent noodles, This restaurant must be the one you try. Remember this though; the location is quite tricky to find. You must turn your google map on.
Andy Trieu
There is a line... It must be good!:-) My bowl of ramen seemed very basic in presentation but there was a lot in the detail. Very tasty broth but I did imagine a massive kick of flavours exploding in my mouth from all the hype... I obviously over sold myself. I'm not running to go back here but I think this "Authentic" Japanese ramen place deserves a visit from any noodle lovers living in Sydney.
Famishedduo
This small ramen house brings Japan to the northern suburbs of Sydney. A small space tucked away from the bustle of the main streets, there's always a line to get in! Bringing authentic Japanese hospitality and food at a reasonable price. We loved the ramen, gyozas and pork bun! The rich broth and the piping hot gyozas warmed our stomachs and soul on a freezing night đŸ‘ŒđŸ€€

I visited this place last Sunday as I have heard good feedback about their ramen. Apparently, this place rivals my favourite Ramen place, Gumshara. That fueled my interest to get out of bed and travel to Crow's Nest. <br/><br/>Google maps was really helpful this time around and we did not get lost as right outside the shop, people were already cueing. Standing outside the shop gave me and my husband to read their menu, which was posted on their wall, and decide what to order. There was a man coming in and out of the restaurant gauging how many people were seating together so he can prepare the tables in advance. Once inside I understood why there was a need for that man to oversee the people outside. The shop only had a few seats, with seats available at the bar as well. Our order was taken promptly by that same man, and once we were seated, it took about 3 mins for them to serve our order. <br/><br/>Although this place is well known for their ramen, I found that their clean-cut broth flavour was one-dimensional. The dish of the day for me was their fried chicken-- moist, tender and seasoned well paired with kewpie. I still favour Gumshara over this place when it comes to ramen.
Helen
Its always a good place to go.<br/>Ramen there are very delicious. <br/>I would recommend tonkutsu ranmen and 魚介ramen there. However, i would not recommend karage there.
SO Chan
I ordered spicy pork ramen and the food was ok.<br/><br/>I have no idea why this place is so popular...it took us a bit longer than half hour to get seats
Awesome Sydney Ramen Girl
In my opinion, the best ramen in Sydney. You can tell it's a lot of people's fave too based on the long lines. <br/><br/>I would recommend arrive at opening to ensure minimal wait times. The staff is very efficient and friendly
Phoebe Keen
Ryos ramen always pleases my tastebuds. Sure, sometimes it's going to be a bit salty for some, but that can quickly be accommodated as they can now alter the Salt they put in the dish to suit your preference. I always come here to order the 'Special' (half pork broth, half spicy broth) and a side of kimchi. My partner orders the same with the karaage chicken. It never disappoints. Their service is quick but they always nail the ramen and the flavours. This is the place to go in Sydney if ramen is your middle name.
H G
Have been to Ryo for many times for the past 6 years and I consider myself a regular customer. I do feel the service and the food quality has gone down hills for the past couple of years. Price has gone up and the ramen noodle is no longer as nice as before and the soup is also no longer tasty/authentic comparing to Yasaka, Menya or Genki. Service was not that great too. We almost got charged $20 more than the actual final bill amount because the staff did her calculation wrong twice. I saw the calculation on the bill was already not correct and was crossed off the first time and the second bill amount we got shown was not correct either. I did the calculation in front of the staff using the calculator. Even I felt embarrased doing that as I was there quite a while trying to do the calculation. Staff apologised however I did not feel staff care about the mistake anyway. Sadly to say, we are not going to return to this ramen restaurant ever again: ( Quite disappointed and cannot really understand as the food and service is no longer good, why there are still so many people queuing for it.
Eric Cheng
Finally got to try this famous place 5 minutes walk from home. Five stars for the Gyoza, four stars for the spicy pork soup ramen and three stars for the chicken soup. Overall, i dont think this place is a solid 4.5 star restaurant. Definitely worth a try tho.<br/>
Doitforthefood
AMAZING! we lined up around 4:45 because we were a group of 7 and knew this restaurant often had queues after 5pm and we were lucky we didn't have to wait long at all! the service took roughly 15mins max for all seven of us which was pretty good service and the workesr were extremely kind :) the restaurant filled up within the next 10mins but the ramen itself was really smooth and the toppings were delicious! in general, the price was worth the quality and would definitely recommend to anybody passing by!
Ammy Elle
There's something very authentic about this place that I really enjoyed. The general vibe is always expect a wait time. You can customise your ramen with less salt which is an amazing option but doesn't compromise on flavour. Came on a weeknight half an hour till close and still had to wait 15 minutes! <br/><br/>I'm honestly not a ramen person- but this place totally converted me. Since coming here, I've been searching for a Melbourne equivalent- yet to find it sadly. <br/><br/>Very friendly service as well!

After a few recent ramen disappointments, I'm in need of some positive affirmations to restore my faith in the Sydney ramen scene. So after a 15 minutes walk uphill from North Sydney at lunch time, I got to Ryo's and found a queue already out the door. My past experiences at Ryo's were mixed, once the tonkotsu was super salty, another time the queue was that long we gave up waiting. Lucky for me, it was only 16 minutes from when I got there, seated, ordered & food served. My spicy ramen just hit the spot! You can see the difference before you even taste it. When you dig the spoon in, the soup is thick, full of tonkotsu goodness. The spiciness was just right not overpowering. The pork char sui slices were soft, just falls apart as it hits your mouth, great flavours packed in there too. Most importantly it was not too salty! It definitely was worth the lunchtime mad dash!
Lady Foody
I have tried many ramen joints considered to be the top in Sydney but only Ichiban Boshi's limited-to-40-bowls-a-day tonkotsu ramen has captured my heart, until now.<br/><br/>I ordered their signature tonkotsu ramen in soy sauce flavoured soup with roast pork, nori, egg, bok choy, fish cake and shallots for $14.50. Yes, it is a little pricier than normal but it had a significant amount of toppings and the broth, my goodness, is the best I have tried. It is beautifully rich and smooth with the perfect balance of saltiness. It is definitely not a light ramen broth and my friend found it too salty but if you are a lover of tonkotsu ramen broths then Ryo's Noodles cannot be missed. I could taste the collagen with each spoonful and it was delightful. My health might be taking a hit but my skin will be thanking me. <br/><br/>The ramen noodles had some bite to it which is great because I do not like very soft noodles and the egg was nicely seasoned. However it would have been perfect if it had a runnier yolk.<br/><br/>But all in all, Ryo's Noodles is my favourite place for tonkotsu ramen in Sydney. I recommend not going during lunch hour because the venue is quite small but it is very nice and cosy with an authentic Japanese feel.

Very tasty ramen! Highly recommend ramen lovers to try. Queued for 40mins to get a seat, but it worths it. The rice balls are filling but not my cup of tea.

The only lesson I received after visiting Ryo's - Don't believe in queues and review sites. <br/><br/>"Where is the tonkotsu?" is my first response after a mouthful of the broth. The spicy chilli oil (more like sweet chilli) overwhelms the tonkotsu (if it exists) and makes the bowl of ramen taste like an entire salt mine. The chicken karaage is the only life saver for the evening.

Ryo's was enjoyable, authentic, affordable and an overall lovely experience.<br/><br/>Pictured are: Tokyo soy sauce ramen (Tokyo style is chicken + soy broth), Spicy Tonkatsu ramen and another Tonkatsu ramen. Apologies, I didn't remember the exact names!<br/><br/>I had the Tokyo Soy ramen which was relatively light ramen compared to some I've had (cf Gumshara which has a super thick broth) so the flavour was more mellow - which is definitely hit the nail on what I was feeling that night.<br/><br/>In terms of ramen quality - yep it's really good, I can't deny it but I personally did not feel that the ramen was "particularly" as amazing as everyone hypes it up to be. Ramen noodles were the straight type with an aldente bite. Delicious!<br/><br/>As always, the ramen are garnished with a few slices of meat, seaweed, some veggies and the naruto shapes fake crab stuff ... At least that's what I've always thought it to be fake crab 😂<br/><br/>I enjoyed the atmosphere - the shop is quite "run down diner" - a little shop worn down by the sheer amount of traffic that comes through daily but I think that adds character to the shop. The counter guy was a youngish Jap guy who was very friendly and kindly helped me choose a ramen.<br/><br/>Overall definitely liked the ramen, also stopped by C9 for dessert afterwards. The price of the ramen ($14.50 per bowl) was decent, a little pricey, but what u expect in the north haha. <br/><br/>Would recommend to go there if you're in the area!

Definitely one of the best ramen in Sydney (if not the best!). The broth is consistently creamy and flavorsome. There's always a line around lunch time on weekends, but it is worth the wait. The service is quick and efficient, but it is the ramen that takes the cake. I love coming here when I am after a quality bowl of delicious ramen and will continue to come here!

One of the best ramens ever!!! The wait is ridiculously long though so keep that in mind. A party of 4 took us almost an hour to be seated but the food made up for the wait

Best Ramen I've and in sydney. The pork bone soup is so creamy and noodles were chewy. The Gyoza is also the best I've had. Taste freshly made. Easily won my heart. We've ordered no2 and no3 on the top 5 menu. Can't wait to try others.

Absolutely brilliant. It worth a high score of 4.5. The noodle is the best I have tried in Sydney area together with the deep fried chicken. Just can't resist how soft and tasty the foods are. That's why I have been there so many times but not leaving a photo. I can't wait but eat immediately when the food come! <br/>They are not in strong taste by making it salty so you won't feel thirsty after eating. One extra bonus is that the price is moderate. They charge like $15-20 per person but they give you perfect quality. I don't find a thing to criticize except you better be there in lunch time because there is always a long queue at night. Well, this is a plus indeed.

Small, no-fuss restaurant bursting with flavor. Thumbs up for offering a vego option. I'm not qualified enough to say if this is the best ramen but it's pretty damn good.

I definitely understand why Ryo had such amazing reviews!! The soup was so authentic and flavoursome. It's often hard to find authentic ramen done well in Sydney, but this place is definitely that!

If your into Ramen, this is a nice little place to visit. Can be busy at times, however well worth the visit. The Ramen noodles are very tasty. Have visited this place a few times and will visit again.

This has to be the best Ramen I've ever had. Very good, fast and friendly service and a great atmosphere! I will definitely be back very soon!

Every time I visit Ryo’s in Crows Nest, there is a queue outside the bright orange double-doors. I suppose that is the way life is now in Sydney, if you want something authentic and delicious, you just have to join the queue. Today’s wait is a bit longer than usual as it’s their first day back after the holiday season. A quick glance up and down the line and you can see all the ramenous patients experiencing withdrawal symptoms, restless and eager to get their fix.

Ryo's has been hyped as an institution in so many reviews and it definitely piques my interest. I went there with two friends on a Sunday afternoon and we waited about 30 mins on queue. The food was great though and definitely worth the wait. <br/><br/>I ordered shoyu tonkotsu ramen and it was a complete bowl with shoyu egg and nori. I also asked for garlic to enhance the flavour. We ordered some gyoza and karaage chicken for side dish. Gyoza was just nice but nothing special nonetheless, but the karaage was just on different level. It was crunchy and salty on the outside but so succulent and umami on the inside. Oh and we also ordered ramune just to make the meal experience more authentic. I will come back later, perhaps earlier just right before the opening time.

My friend wanted to take us to Ryo and I'm glad. I had the spicy version and it wasn't overly spicy . Had some sides including chicken and gyoza. We managed to avoid long lines and the service was great. It's nice and cozy inside.

The tonkatsu and the spicy one. If you curious about the taste but on diet , you can choose kid'a ramen menu. Woah!! I have been to Fukuoka in Japan and this establishment makes ramen from there! The ramen is absolutely fantastic and reminds me of the good times I've had in Japan! <br/><br/>Fantastic service and fast good ramen, it is a place you should not pass on if you're in the area. Just pop by and have real authentic ramen!!

Easily the best Ramen in Sydney, only some of the bowls I had in Japan could rival. I've tried many others in Sydney but Ryo's still sits at the top of my list and I keep coming back, quick service, in and out and always a line out front. Side dishes are good too!

Ok, so this is what ramen is really supposed to be like!! Hearty, fatty, salty, meaty broth (rather than something that tastes like Cup-A-Soup), with tender noodles and slices of soft fatty pork
