The Bolani here is the best in all of Melbourne. The owner and his staff make your dining so much fun. Great customer service. You feel the love in the food.
Delicious food good service, bread was yummy all in all had good experience.
Great food. Really tasty kebab and mantu.
A really good Afghan restaurant with great food and very reasonably priced. Kebabs were tender and moist. The Bolani is a must try and was so tasty. We loved the eggplant dish and really enjoyed the lamb curry with the most yummy rice.
Give this place a go. It’s really worth it.
3.5
I freaking love this place I didn’t find it too expensive I found the flavours to be original and true. So glad I walked in and stuck my head in as this is not my normal go to Afghanistan restaurant. What I do like about this particular place is the fact that they use fresh ingredients I was a little bit worried given the area that the quality may have dropped off but that is definitely not the case and you can taste it by the authenticity and I love they put into their food. Another good thing for a first timer is the staff their will give you any detail about anything on their menu I will deconstruct in detail how things are cooked and what they are cooked with which is a rarity these days.
The food was absolutely fragrant and balanced. First time trying Afghan cuisine and was not disappointed at all. The owner was incredibly generous, authentic and kind. I look forward to returning!
Afghan Tasty Food has been open for almost a decade, and in that time has become an institution for those looking for authentic Afghan food in Melbourne. It was opened by Muheen Bahrami, moved to Australia in 1991 after fleeing Kabul.
I visited this restaurant last week and I must say that if you want Afghan food which has value for money then you must come to this place.
I ordered qabuli set A with chicken korma which was delicious, the bread was just right to soak all the curry. My hubby had mayecha palaw (lamb leg with qabulj rice) which was also delish. I noticed that mayecha palaw wasn't always available at any Afghan restaurant so I'd highly recommend this dish.
The staff was also friendly and helpful.
We'd surely come back here whenever I had cravings for Afghan food :)
I tried the mantu dumplings and the lamb kebab skewer. The mantu dumplings came with 10 pieces. The mantu mince was nice as was the toppings however it lacked fillings. The lamb kebab skewer was well cooked but could have been marinated better.
Solid little afghan place. We ordered the $25per head banquet for which we got a lamb curry, bread, Maantu dumplings, and a lamb and chicken skewers. All the meats were cooked over charcoals in front of us (if you're wondering what the smell is when you walk in) and we noticed the bread was a drawcard with people turning up to just make purchases of that alone. The curry was delicious, oily, but thats now those currys roll and their perfect for sopping up left over bread.
As a warning, when we went, service was slowwwww and ambience was zero but I'm only about the food so I look past that. If you're precious about those you'll need to put that aside.
Good service. Good food. Good range of food choices. Lots of happy people when we eat here. I even got a bonus of $50 from Liven. Overall, geat place. Planning to go back here real soon!
Really delicious authentic Afghan food. The fresh bread is delicious and the servings are huge. A banquet for two could comfortably feed 3-4 people. All for only 25 a head. Would highly recommend.
Had an absolutely amazing experience here yesterday with my partner. The food was fresh and delicious. A big highlight was the Afghani rice and Burani. Wow, what an incredible balance of flavours and aromas. Top it off, the friendly owner even gave us some delicious Afghan bread after we had a wonderful conversation with him as we paid for the bill. Highly recommend this place for an amazing, authentic Afghan food experience.
Great food and good serve sizes. The kebabs are grilled on charcoal at the front counter.
Loved the kebabs and bread from thus restaurant.
Good and Halal food. Highly recommended 😋👍🤩
Nice and welcoming. The food so delicious. This is my first time for Afgan foods.
The food was tasty and the restaurant was nice and clean. The portion was quite generous as well. I have not had Afghan cuisine before so I can’t make any comparison. However I’ll visit again.
The only min point was that the didn’t serve water.
