Googled them, but very hard to find on GPS,they actually just opposite Dandenong market!!
Very nice handmade noodle, and lamb shashlik, will come back again for sure.
Happened to be around Dandenong and hoping to go back to the xinjiang/mongolian restaurant that my cousin brought me 10 yrs ago. After some Google and brief research, decided to give this restaurant a try. Greeted with friendly staff and we were recommended to try their popular dishes. I absolutely love their stir fried lamb offal. I must admit that it sounds gross when the staff described the ingredients. However,I got hooked to the kidney and lamb tripe which have those soft chewy texture. The xin jian stir fried noodle was good but not surprising. It is tender and chewier than the shanghai noodle. The must order is the lamb skewer.
Located right next to Dandenong Plaza, San Yuan is a family run restaurant specializing in Xinjiang Northern Chinese cuisine. Just like the multitude of Asian restaurants in Melbourne, the place is always bustling and packed with people whenever open. San Yuan enjoys a loyal clientele; a no frills place which focuses on good food and good customer service.
Very friendly staff, albeit we went last week at 11.30 and it was quiet. People started coming in as we left. If you like Asian food without the terrible western touch that spoils traditional Asian food such as honey chicken, then this is the place to go. Beautiful dumplings, spicy beef in chilli soup, chicken fried with dried chilli, fresh vegetables in oyster sauce. Food was lovely, place was clean, prices are very good value. Definitely returning.
Tasty and affordable Xinjiang cuisine. I have always really liked this restaurant because the food is full of flavour and familiar to my mum's cooking. The restaurant itself may look a little scrappy, but I would absolutely recommend the food for the taste, affordable price, and great portion sizes.
Not the Usual Chinese. Also known as Bei Wei Xiang, this place is incredible, nothing like the Chinese food you are accustomed to. It was the first of the Northern (xin xiang) Chinese restaurants I was aware of, and remains the best. Yet still largely undiscovered.
Dumplings are just average but the home-made noodles are the best I have ever tasted. Delicious seaweed salad. So many unique dishes you will not find elsewhere.
A huge bargain. The only downside is having to commute to Dandenong, but it's worth the occasional pilgrimage.
Great place for a great meal. Came with some friends for the first time, the food were amazing. Loved the dry spicy chicken! home made yoghurt + spicy food = bliss
Authentic and Fantastic. Lamb skewers were fantastic, big pieces and very tender!! proportions here are very big, and prices quite cheap!
my favourite has to be the spicy chicken dish with potatoes and noodles on the bottom! its a huge dish enough for 3-4 people and only $19!
Authentic Uyghur cuisine ran by a very humble family, I love their lamb skewers (you can choose the level of spice to your taste) and the cold rice noodle dish. Delish!
The lamb skewers are delicious! :) my first time trying xinjiang chinese food! I like it! The flavours are really different to the usual chinese food ive had :)
Lamb skewers and the handmade noodles are very tasty. Love the texture of the handmade noodles. The sauce is a bit oily, but worth it, because it's full of flavour. Actually had a good experience with the service, waitress is always friendly and helpful. Not 5 stars because it's not the best handmade noodles I've had, but the best I've found in Dandenong-Springvale area so far (and cheaper than the Springvale one too).
Northern Chinese cuisine. You have to know what you are ordering. The dumplings, skewers and home-made noodles are great, yet not for everyone. The food overall feeling is heavy, and you have to balance it with salad. Order the tomato-cucumber basic one and you'd be set.
The dumplings "beef and celery" are amazing... home made noodles with beef celery and bell peppers with paprika are too die for...
I love the lamb charcoal skewers also but a abit fatty and $3 each is abit rich. But i rate this place very highly to almost say it is the only reason why i want to travel to dandenong to eat... also the staff have been very friendly every time i go there...
To describe the tastes very Eastern European meets original authentic chinese. Love love love the food.
Place needs abit of work and probably new chairs and tables. Not very comfy and the decor needs to be revamped. But too me its all about the food... must go too...
Amazing dumplings! Really tasty and very authentic! Just loved it! Staff is very friendly too😊
