I’d rate this place 10/5. Its def worth that traffic jam n the drive from the west to just taste their authentic Malaysian foods n drinks.
Loved the food! Tasted just like home! Definitely worth the drive anytime!
ISO dinner delivered to our front door. Everything was yum! Salt & pepper calamari had generous amount of fried shallots. Yam ring with cashew chicken was generous in portion. Beancurd with minced meat, whoa, packed so much flavour. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be ordering again.
Best place for malaysian food tastes like the one in kl.
Great value for money and friendly service. Delicious veggie spring rolls and curry laksas (veggie and chicken). A family hit!
Nice neighbourhood restaurant.
The fish head vermicelli and the laksa is a must try. The soup is very rich yet not too oiled.
They have a good variety of weekday lunch sets with drinks but not so much for the weekend.
We have ordered the famous drop noodles in clay pot, the taste was good but we found it too salty and too oily to have.
Authentic Malaysia restaurant! Conveniently located at Jackson Court in Doncaster East, this is one of the only Malaysian style restaurants around the area.
Solid Malaysian (in fact Chinese Malaysian) food with generous portions. I love their Kangkung Belacan (waterspinach with sambal). It’s perhaps the best I have had in Melbourne. They make great beef rendangs, and their whole barramundi is really good too. I also love their teh tarek (milk tea) as it is not too sweet, unlike most other Malaysian restaurants. It’s a very casual place (nothing fancy) with quick service. Not cheap, but for the big portions they serve, it is acceptable. If you are mindful of your plastic waste, take a container with you as you might bring home some food.
Great Malaysian cafe that has a great variety of food to select from. Tried the claypot rice drop noodle that came in a generous portion and had tasty pork mince. While it didn’t taste exactly like that of back home, it was good. The pork noodle soup was good. We also tried the lobar, which is pork meat covered with fried bean curd. Would be back to try more!
Its an awasome experience to dine in here for the first time as it was recommended by few of my friends and family, the food was scrumptious and would be coming back for more dishes to try out with friends, thumbs up 👍
We’ve been here multiple times to get our Malaysian cravings fixed! It is a bit pricier than our other regular diners but we keep coming back due to its location and dishes offered on the menu.
Jonker Street seems to be maintaining its high standard in food and service. It's always busy on the weekend so booking ahead is essential. The atmosphere when the restaurant is full brings back memories from the chaos in South East Asian eateries. Fortunately Jonker Street is well staffed and service is always good.
We ordered a range of dishes to share tonight. The beef rendang and fish fillet curry were king and queen of the night. The beef was tender and well spiced. The fish curry sauce was to die for - creamy, spicy and oh so satisfying!
The sambal beans were cooked perfectly. The scallops and broccoli had huge pieces of scallops. The salted egg chicken ribs were slightly dry but were saved by the savoury coating.
We love coming here and have never left disappointed before.
Here's my previous review:
This is a great place for Malaysian dishes. Large servings with quality ingredients combine to make it a worthwhile visit, everytime. Their weekday lunch time specials are reasonably priced. Today we had the Vegemite chicken ribs with rice and the bitter gourd pork with rice. Both came with drinks for an extra dollar.
The chicken ribs were perfectly fried but the Vegemite sauce was slightly overwhelming. The bitter gourd pork was well balanced.
If you can't make it to the real Jonker Street in Malaysia, this is the next best place!
Lovely family Malaysian restaurant.Good food, Good services and good price.
Nice food quite authentic. Got the Malaysia taste seems one of the improved restaurant after lockdowns, food taste even better than before. So many others all have changed. Laksa seems nicer than before. The fish head bee hoon is quite very nice too. Price reasonable. Will come again the lady was very kind to my kid always smiling.
Update: so long didn't eat the Laksa still very nice 👍
Love the Yam Basket Sweet & Sour Pork. Taste so good. Generous servings. The Ying Yong Watan Hor (Flat Noodle & Vermicelli) is full of Wok Hei with prawns, pork slices and vege. Cendol is authentic too. The Lady boss is very friendly.
First time here and we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious and authentic the dishes were! The clay pot rice drop noodle dish was especially impressive and truly offered a taste of home!
Truly fantastic Malaysian Chinese dishes. A lot of deep fried dishes. We ordered a beef rendang, a yam nest with cashew, a home made tofu Dish, a mixed vegetables with garlic sauce. All taste great. 10 out of 10. We have planned what to order (a fish, sizzling tofu, butter prawns) for the next visit. Can't wait to try more.
Amazing food and customer service. We always take away from Jonker Street. Nasi lemak is our go to and fish is amazing too.
Definitely my favourite Malaysian restaurant in Melbourne. The staff are always so friendly and we never had a bad meal here. All of the dishes we have ordered have been exceptional, with favourites including: nyonya fish, homemade tofu with mince, steamed chicken, salted egg yolk chicken.
My mum especially love their Ice kachang and said they make the best one in Melbourne.
nostalgic flavours we love and seek constantly.
