The cakes/pastries are superb! The owners are wonderful and friendly people. Always receive great service. Oh, and the coffee, spot on! Recommend this place to anyone who wants great tasting food, and top notch service.
Th Dark Chocolate cake was superb, worth every penny spent on it. We are planning to return to try their other stuff which they are known for.
I’m not joking when I say that I pretty much bought my apartment in Elwood because of this place! Always found myself looking at places in Elwood around lunchtime so I could pop in here for a cheeky sausage roll. It’s not a super fancy bakery, but that’s what I like. Food is great. I go there at least once every weekend. Surprised by some of the bad reviews here - I’ve been countless times over the last 5 years and not once been disappointed - other than when I’ve finished and want more!
Love the cakes and the cheap prices. My favourite things to eat here are as follows: black forest cakes, chocolate eclairs, vanilla slices, sausage rolls and the chocolate croissants. They have a huge variety of things to eat here and everything is really yummy. I wouldn't dine here though, because there are pigeons everywhere.
Been here on more than one occasion and my problem is they have too many yummy things to choose from. Love their Chocolate Brownies and the fact they're open until 9pm :)

Food: A huge selection of cakes and snacks! Our gingerbreads looked amazing, and although they tasted pretty good they were a bit too crumbly and dry. I was impressed that they used fresh tea leaves and the tea was high quality (I couldn't bring myself to try the coffee as I knew it wouldn't live up to the code black coffee available across the road).
Atmosphere/service: Seating area and service aren't great, maybe we're spoilt with what we have nearby but it definitely felt more like an after thought than something they put much focus on - I think they are more concerned with take away orders, which is a shame as they have a nice location but nothing persuaded me to go back.
Price: the cost for two gingerbreads and two drinks was about $15. Given the tea was very good and the gingerbreads looked homemade I'd say this was pretty good value.
Would I go back: it was nice for a change and it's on my way to the beach. I do want to try some of their other cakes. I'd probably order take out and carry on to the beach to be honest, I wouldn't be in a hurry to go back and sit in. Food is probably higher than a 3, but overall experience has lowered my rating as for this it sits below most local places in my opinion.
Update: I have since been back, sampled some more cakes - black forest cake and the orange cake which I ordered to take away. Much better experience as a take away bakery.
The best bakery in Melbourne!! Always packed on a weekend. The owners are lovely people and are often behind the counter. All the bread is amazing, highly recommend the dark rye - never had anything like it elsewhere. Great sandwich bar, either ready made or made up with whatever you like - Turkish bread with pesto is a great start. So many sweets to choose from - the Nutella croissants are insane. Cakes made to order, and gorgeous ready made ones available too. Can't rates this place highly enough. An Elwood gem.

The reason this place has such a loyal following among local workers and students is its reliability and good hearty fare.
They've been in the 'hood since Elwood had the one cafe and have earned a reputation as top quality bakers of a range of breads and sweet and savoury pastries.
The sandwiches are choc a bloc and pies are terrific.
A vast variety of sweet cakes and pastries makes it a difficult choice.
The specialties of the house are possibly the home-made Greek offerings.
Cuts through much of the pretentious local opposition with an honest lunch option.
I've come to this place quite a few times now and have to say this is one of the gems in Melbourne. The food is always extremely fresh, coffee is always spot on, the staff are incredibly friendly and always engaging to have a chat with. Although I live quite far from here, this is becoming my regular bakery and place for lunch/coffee when travelling to the area. I recently ordered a large birthday cake from here, and my guests were very impressed and requested to know where it was from. I've become extremely fond of this place and writing this review is one of the best ways for me to compliment their work. You have to try their continental cakes too!

We enjoyed our coffee today. Quick service and price is ok. Huge variety of desserts. I asked the lady to turn on heater so we felt warm while having our cake and coffee
Yummy patisserie for dog and people. The staff where lovely and pleasant and kept the line moving with Sunday rush. Great when pooches are waiting hungrily outside.
Bakeries like they used to be. Massive choice, and I mean massive choice, of different cakes, doughnuts, slices, biscuits, tarts and sticky buns. Plus hot pies & pasties/sausage rolls and made to order large cakes. Of course breads are thrown into the mix plus coffee, tea and soft drinks with tables outside to stop and eat if you wish. Also an outside order window which is new if you have your doggy or pram with you. In the old post office. Can get busy on weekends with a queue but then that shows the quality and willingness of people to come here.
Reminds me of the Acland St cake shops of old only in a nicer more relaxed local locale with no loonies hovering around.

It's certainly one of my favourite patisseries in Melbourne! I've been a regular customer and I've always been happy. They have a wide range of quality cakes, chocolates and pastries which are placed neatly in the in-store display! The coffee is excellent and their sandwiches are delicious. They have also started offering ice cream and fresh juices recently.
The owners of the patisserie as well as the staff are friendly and professional. They always strive to provide quality customer service and ensure that their customers are happy.
I totally recommend this patisserie to everyone! I am certain that you will not be disappointed!
Was driving through Elwood and seen this bakery and couldn't resist.
Parked in a back street, and received a $99 fine for a permit zone that I was fully unaware off.
Anyways, a huge selection of cakes and sausage rolls and pies and amazing custard tarts, I do recommend these 👍.
I got a chunky steak pie, potato pie and a custard tart..... all of it was very nice and if I'm back in the area, I will stop in for sure and not park in a permit zone (?). Amazing for sure. Coffee looked on point too.
There is other parking. Just didn't see the signs.
There's also indoor seating or alfresco style if you like. Enjoy, I know I did.
