Love this place and have been a number of times now, dropped in on a Sunday night and wasn't disappointed. The great thing about this place is its consistently great. When you want a homely rustic feed of Italian it can't be beaten. The seafood spaghetti baked in a bag delicious. Went with a party of 5 and no one was disappointed and no one went home hungry, serves are generous. The service is friendly and efficient. A favourite and we'll be back. Thanks Mamma Vittoria.
A wonderful experience. Loved the food and the waiter was an absolute gentleman. The ambience was really nice as well. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and definitely worth travelling for.
This has to be up there with the best Italian food in Fitzroy. Really love the pastas in particular. Great service too. Thank you for a great meal.
The food we ordered from Mamma Vittoria's had a good balance of pros and cons I guess. We selected the seafood spaghetti and the lamb and pistachio poplette spaghetti. The seafood was my favourite of these, pretty tasty with its olive oil base, generous seafood and dash of tomato. The poplettes were decent, but also on the dry side and the tomato based sauce became gluggy quite quickly. Admittedly, this could possibly have been because it was not eaten completely fresh (ordered through Uber Eats). The caprese stack was our side for the night, and while it tasted good, it only came with three slices of tomato and 3 slabs of mozzarella. Defs needed more tomato at least, and prob needed to be $7 or $8 rather than $9. Overall, was happy with my choice to order in, could have been picked worse, and the menu options were the best around for the price.
Great friendly dining experience. Natasha and Riccardo have certianly done Mamma Vittoria proud. The food never ever disappoints. Great job guys !!
Great experience!
The service and ambience made us feel as if we were in Italy. We got a table right next to the fire place and were served by a very friendly Italian waitor.
The food was great. Home made pasta and pizza were fantastic.
Can't wait to return to Mamma Vittorias for dinner
The best pizza in Melbourne! They also make a delicious aperol spritz and the gnocchi is incredible. Very friendly and welcoming staff top off a lovely dinner.
When I was forced to spend my days in this area I would sometimes have lunch here so I have only been to the shop on the eastern side of Smith Street, I'd have no idea bout the actual restaurant. Its been around for ages and it also sells ready made food to cook at home which looks authentic and delicious but I don't buy it as I rarely cook and if I do I'm probably going to use Dolmio pasta sauce because subconsciously I don't feel worthy of the good stuff. I think I feel the same way about champagne but I just tell people I don't like the taste and drink Carlton Draught instead as it makes me feel less poofy. I'm allowed to appropriate insulting slang for homosexuals and I like the word poof anyway so don't you tell me how to label myself thanks very much. I'm sure you wouldn't moderate an indigenous person and I have a dash of that too but I don't look authentically Tasmania Aboriginal so I can't cash in on that level of high grade disadvantage and the joys of being super marginalized.
Anyway you go there and there's usually a choice of 3 or 4 pastas in a bain-marie (but its not like a poor persons food court bain-marie ) and you can have more than one type of pasta on a small or a large plate but they're not far off the same size. I'd recommend a small as you get free bread and I've never left here without feeling like I'm either going to explode or start rolling down the street into oncoming traffic, which is a nightmare as I refuse to die in Fitzroy or Collingwood as these days they're both comparable to hell on earth. I always seem to choose a creamy pasta sauce which is probably half the problem but they're always so delicious and I can always throw it up later or run "The Tan" 35 times on the weekend as one needs to look good and feel desirable... and I'm a man. Italian food must be a nightmare for the ladies.
Mama Vittoria is also worth a visit for the interesting customer service. The staff are always lovely but there's one lady (you'll know her when you meet her) who seems to be in a permanent foul mood so I'd say her family owns the business otherwise she'd get fired. But her rudeness is unpretentious, you start enjoying her lack of interest in your dining experience and she grows on you and it's all a bit like a dodgy relationship where you love someone who treats you like rubbish. And who says hospitality types need to be friendly anyway... This isn't America (thank god) and I'd much rather get served by a grump than a vacuous latte barista but we're all conditioned from day one to be fake so what can you do? I'm just glad I'm not working in customer service and I empathise with anyone who has to serve locals in the inner north.
Great food for 4 of us. Service was way up there as well. In a non trendy but family friendly environment. Would definitely recommend if you want warming hearty and delicious Italian food with a smile
MEAL- Dinner
STYLE/AMBIANCE - warm, timber, homestyle
SERVICE - attentive, friendly, timely
FOOD - good food. Home style Italian. Good variety. Wood fired pizza and homemade pasta (from just across the street)
Been here a few times, reliable food and good service b
VALUE - fair
Ive never heard of this place until I was invited for dinner recently. What a surprise! Food was amazing and really encompasses the best part of Italian cuisine. Cosy and homely, you feel like part of the family. Wait staff were knowledgeable and friendly, they barely stopped all night. Wood fired Pizzas and tasty mains. My only regret is that I didn't discover this place sooner.
My grandson and I were made to feel so very special. The food was so amazing. My grandson is very particular on what he eats and could not wipe the smile off of his face. Highly recommended by us. Thank you for a good time and a good feed.
A little gem in the middle of Fitzroy! I have always enjoyed eating here, the atmosphere is always lively and usually quite full weekend evenings, the staff are always the most friendly and helpful with choosing from a compact but great menu! Service is relatively quick and the food has always tasted great whatever I had ordered. If I'm nitpicking here then the only thing I would say is perhaps increase the portions a little bit but that might be because I'm a big eater ;)
Excellent food and service worth a bite if your in the area
Best Italian good with soul going around. From the moment you walk in to the smell of the open fire place, the kitchen full of activity, staff friendly and open to suggestions. Only advice is make sure you don’t eat before to fit all the food in. From the snapper cooked in the wood fired oven to the devin tiramisu. I’ll be going back and taking more friends.
Keep the good work up.
