Shifty Chevre was an unplanned experience yet probably one of my highlights - with a perfect note to end our trip down south. Stumbling across glowing cheese displays out front on Brunswick street, we were easily drawn in. Its casual, cosy and unpretentious and the outdoor seating is recommended to soak in life on the main drag. Its a no fuss cheese bar, with a quirky and cosy space inside with mixed areas depending on the mood you're seeking at whatever time of day.
We delighted in a mix of charcuterie and weekly cheese board, and discovered a sensational beaujolais which seems to be following us around back home in Sydney. The staff were obliging and keen to look after us, making up a few alternatives to our seconds based on preferences from the first board. That being said, these are preferences at at no point were we let down with quality or flavours. At a cheese bar it would be hard to make a bad pick. Some of the produce is exclusive, and some of our favourites cannot be purchased elsewhere it seems.
Beautiful little cheese and wine place. I went here with some friends, there were four of us, it was really busy but the waitress found us a table in the back garden. Te atmosphere was really nice and relaxed. The food and the wine were perfect! I absolutely loved the cheesecake! Would definitely recommend!

Nestled in a cosy, narrow corner shop, Shifty Chevre is a cheese lover’s paradise. As well as its food offerings, they have cheese for sale, on display in their front cabinet. There’s also the French-style raclette, where slices of cheese are placed on individual paddles and inserted into an oven-like appliance. Melted cheese is poured over our potatoes and cured meats such as prosciutto, cured ham and French salami.
