Great place, hidden location! But make sure you find it!!! Not a beer drinker. But my husband had the tasting paddle and I had a few sips!! Wow delicious what a funky little place. The Gingererella Ginger Ale was yummy too. Get down and try it.
Top spot....I was a little concerned I had gone down the wrong alley way at first, but then I found the door open and beer in view, so all was well in the world again!
Good beers with good people running the joint!
Great brewery hidden in an industrial park.
Could not fault the Pale Ale, clean fruity with a good citrus taste.
Fantastic fit out, great service
Fantastic addition to slowly gentrifying suburbia that gave us Romper Stomper!!! Great choice of beers (try their Mango Gose - it is a well executed work of art); you can tell straight away that this mob knows what they're doing. Again (like other brewpubs) - when hungry, order some wonderful food options that are available around the area via Uber Eats. No-frills ambience with friendly locals hanging out with their mates, kids and pets.
We thought it'd be just perfect to have some local band playing here to make it even more wonderful and asked the owner about it; to our surprise, we learned that the council slaps a fee of $2500 (every four months) for having live music at the venue - WTH!!! Moreover, for some weird reason this fee is not applied if it's a DJ playing electronic tunes - Double WTH!!! No wonder artists/musicians end up poor - we made our laws in a way that becoming greedy is encouraged in the society but making people smile with their art/music is discouraged. Time to start a petition against this ridiculous law.
Why is a place that only serves drinks charge $50 without alcohol - it’s a fun cool place, but I don’t remember a $25 cover charge. Maybe the listing needs to be checked. I have to keep writing this to make one hundred and forty characters. Are we there yet? Clearly not quite yet xxoo
Great beers, cool atmosphere and friandly/helpful staff. Being able to bring your dog is a great bonus. No meals as such, though plenty of great local resataurants deliver there.
Hop Nation Brewing Co. have been around since 2014, but their current brewery, a warehouse in a complex of industrial buildings in Footscray, has only been operating since mid 2016.
Only had the the two beers , the pilsner which was clean tasting and the CHop which was sweet but with a mild bitter taste. Only downside is food, they Have limited range and food trucks and über eats, so not sure if byo small finger food is ok. Friendly service , found this place by accident walking along the Marybyrnong.
All I can say is WOW!!!!
Great concept and ideas and I have no doubt that Hop Nation will have something for every beer loving person in this nation.
Based in an old warehouse the owners have somehow managed to turn a dark, cold storage house into a warm, inviting, hip and busy joint to serve a fantastic range of craft beers.
They had 8 beers on tap when we went (5 brewed themselves and 3 guest taps) with all different types of beer available from pilsner and IPA to American Red and a Sour beer. With their extensive beer menu elegantly and cleverly written on back of their chiller which they have turned into a blackboard you could find yourself unsure of what to get and if this happens to you like it did to me then don't worry. For $15 you are able to get 4 beers to try in glasses of about 150/200ml. Great bang for your buck finding something that you will like..... and if you don't like beer...... well Hop Nation has that covered too serving a few varieties of wine, cider and soft drinks as well.
Food wise they don't serve much except chips/crisps, popcorn and jerky for bar snacks but they do invite different food trucks to sit out the front for their bar for patrons to order from and eat in their premises. While we were there they had a Mexican one (La Revolucion) serving tacos etc. A hugely clever idea as this not only supports various other local businesses but at the same time also allows Hop Nation to have an ever changing menu without the staff or management having to do any work.
Making a warehouse cool is not an easy thing to do but with some trendy furniture made from old pallets and drums used as leaners and tables and cool murals painted on the brick walls the owners have made this warehouse very inviting. Accompany that with extremely friendly and inviting staff, an extensive beer menu and a food truck serving delicious food and that's what I would call living the dream.
Although only open a few hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday I would throughly recommend coming down and checking Hop Nation out for yourselves.
