Awesome place and food.
Highly recommended!
Dim sums galore
Somethings just never change.
You'd go to a place like this for purely for the food. It's like the place hasn't changed in the past 20 years. Basic white interior, direct and blunt service, hot tea in a stained tea cup. Great place to reminisce to be honest. Now I wouldn't say this is the best Chinese restaurant, but it's definitely not the worst. It's the sort of flavours that you'd expect when you go to Hong Kong and hit up some small take away shop, except a little bit more salty and a lot more pricey.
For four people, we ordered 4 dishes and 3 bowls of rice. This turned out to be more than enough and we even had enough for some take away. On average, it was about $20pp, which I believe is pretty average for a dinner like this.
This place needs more credit. The roast pork here was amazing and lots of veggies packed underneath. Delicious healthy free soup too! All for only $11 I was left feeling satisfied and very full. Great value for money will be back to try the other dishes
Friendly staff. We had the fried rice, roast pork and roast chicken with steamed rice. All very good. Rice had good flavour and roast meats well cooked- not dried out. Also had the prawn dumpling soup. Delicious! The setting is basic but it is worth going there.
We came to Golden Horse Seafood restaurant for mud crab noodles but were told they sold out all their crabs over the weekend! The waitress suggested we order their lobster instead so we did. The lobster is fresh from the tank. The waitress even showed us the live lobster to our table before they cooked it in the kitchen! We were served complimentary Chinese tea, prawn crackers and soup to start. We were also offered house made XO sauce and freshly cut chilli to go with our dishes. The ginger spring onion lobster noodles was a decent serve and was delicious! We also order a mixed stir fry vegetable which was actually too much for the two of us! The portion was too much so we asked for take away container! To finish, they give us complimentary fruit platter which was a nice touch! Overall, the lobster was quite expensive at $78/lb and the lobster noodle dish alone costs over $200 but it was very well cooked. Worth it for special occasion.
I ordered the fried noodle combination, which was a dish I tend to order in Asian restaurants when I can't decide what to order. I thought the noodles were very crispy and the meat was cooked well. Customer service was also good.
A great place to come for some decent tasty yum Cha... service was efficient and friendly... far nicer and better food than mother yum Cha houses in Melbourne! Come and enjoy!
Not a big fan of the yumcha here it just misses the spot every time, however live seafood the mud crab never disappoints my partner or myself
Located conveniently on the corner of Hopkins Street and neighbouring Footscray Market Golden Horse is a delightful Chinese seafood and BBQ restaurant.
Staff are always welcoming and friendly.
Food is very filling and tastes amazing, the only tiny bone to pick is the amount of oil used in the dishes- there's quite a lot. Nevertheless, the food is great and Golden Horse is one of our regular places to eat.
This particular visit we ordered (see photos) 1x stir fried scallops with vegetables, 1x combination mushrooms with snow peas, and 1x salty fish, minced pork and eggplant claypot.
At the end of the meal, you are presented with a small complimentary fruit platter which is a nice finishing touch.
Not a bad little place , we were visiting some family in footscray , and a friend said there's a place where we could get some yum Cha and close by, so we had to try.
They don't have much selection as the bigger yum Cha places but was given a menu that we could order from and cooked fresh .
Dumpling servings were decent and love the rice paper prawns and prawns in bean curb skin.
Had to try some duck whilst I was there , wasn't too bad either , but if you're looking for a little spot to grab some yum Cha that's in footscray then def come give this place a visit.
Good yum cha for a decent price - not the overpriced stuff you get elsewhere. Better when busy because the selection is bigger and the food fresher.
