My score 4.0 stars. J and I had lunch here on Fri 24th Jan. Simple setting, shop is deep inside an arcade (we entered via doors next to Co Thu Quan). Service nice, food came out slowly, but it was ALL made fresh! Free tea was aromatic but not bitter. MASSIVE amount of greens (for wrapping) and herbs (3 sorts), which we polished off! A very spicy nuoc cham-like dipping sauce complimented the first two dishes.
Banh Khot ($13.00) – Yummy Vietnamese mini pancakes with a shrimp in the middle. Savoury but with a touch of sweetness. My favourite dish of the meal.
Mixed platter ($11.00) – Steamed rice cakes w mung bean filling (2 - quite liked these as well). Steamed rice cake discs (4 - nice topping, esp the freshly made garlicky mini croutons). Savoury tapioca dumplings (3 - my least favoured item, as they were very sticky and slightly gelatinous - but had lovely freshly made fried shallots on top).
Prawn (and pork) rice paper rolls ($12.00) – Good. Made fresh (we asked for them without pork, which they kindly did). Nice spicy complex sauce too – tasty.
An authentic Vietnamese restaurant with lovely owners. They only feature the traditional dishes from the Southern part of Vietnam rather having a long and lengthy menus like other typical Viet restaurants. The Banh Xeo comes with lots of fresh veggies
I loveeeeee their rice paper roll so much. I have tried several restaurants and so far this is the best one. The dipping sauce is good, not just plain hoisin. A must try.
I also love the mix dish where you can have a taste of banh beo, it tran & banh bot loc in case you can’t decide between them, like me haha. I like that the sauce has pickled carrots in it, feel like in Vietnam.
The banh hoi nem nuong is also nice.
Customer service is really good and caring. Although a bit slow and don’t accept card payment but they are so friendly and nice so I won’t mind these small inconveniences.
They have been opened for 3 years and the taste never changed a little, which I’m really impressed.

The best Bánh bèo and Bánh bột lọc that I’ve tried. The owners are super lovely. I love their iced yogurt which has same flavour as in Vietnam. I love their Homemade banh canh as well.
Located in a quiet shopping centre, the place was hard to find at first. The interior was clean and staff were super friendly. We ordered the banh khot which are savoury vietnamese shrimp pancakes. The banh khot was filling and delicious and was served with a wide range of fresh veggies.
Delicious authentic food and amazing friendly staff. The Bánh khot were so yummy. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. We will definitely be back soon!
This place is a quintessential hidden gem. It's located off the main dining area in Footscray. It's a cheap eat with nothing priced over $13 for main meals, $5 for desserts and $6 for drinks. The signature dishes are the sizzling Vietnamese pancakes and the steamed rice cakes. Owners are a lovely couple who enjoy having a chat and love seeing others enjoy their restaurant.
This is what you call a hidden gem! We no longer need to wait for Viet/Chinese new year to eat overpriced and average Banh Khot because this place sells a range of authentic and delicious vn street food. I tried my first Banh Bot Lot and loved it. The flavours were all well balanced and I loved the generous amount of herbs served. The Banh Hoi Chao Tom was okay. I expected it to be served on a sugarcane but I guess it just made it easier for us to eat being cut up already. The only negative was the wooden chopsticks. It felt sticky and dirty so we had to use forks instead. The service was also very nice and friendly. My boyfriend wanted to come back for dinner!

Pretty decent Vietnamese Banh Khot and Banh xeo pancakes in a hidden arcade.
The pancakes were fresh and crispy. Filling was pretty good for the price- normally they are just shoved with bean shoots and not much else!
They give you a decent amount of fresh herbs with your pancakes- making it much more refreshing (the pancakes alone can be quite oily)
For $11 it's not bad priced (most small pho places are now $11 in the area)
Delicious Authentic Vietnamese street kind of food.
Friendly service and nice dining area. The restaurant is tucked away in the apartment block and hard to spot.
Well worth the tasting and exploration. Highly recommended :D
What a hidden gem 💎
The type of family-owned restaurant that brings you a feeling of homely intimacy with freshly made food and authentic taste. I respect and love the owners’ effort they wholeheartedly put in making the food ❤️ we tried Vietnamese sizzling rice pancakes, fine rice vermicelli with grilled pork, and mixed dish of steam rice cakes and tapioca dumplings; and love them all. Would definitely come back again!
The food here is phenomenal. Everything comes out fresh and crispy.
Now before you make your way there, this store is run by a couple of husband/wife. So, expect a wait once you've put your order in.
We waited roughly 20 minutes before the food came out.
I would love to come here again and give it a 5 star mark, however, for me personally, I prefer quicker wait times. So it's just missing one star.
I'm definitely coming back though. One of my favourite banh xeos in Melbourne.

Would say this was the most delicious grilled pancake I've ever had. Authentic flavour, fresh and cheap.

Best Bang Xeo in Melbourne, very crispy and flavourful. All the ingredients are super fresh and great quality. The owner is super friendly explained to us about the ingredients in the dishes.
Highly recommended if you are not in a rush. (Bit of a wait- prob cause they make everything from scratch)
So so so soooooo good.
The food was vibrant, fresh, punchy, tasty and had amazingggg texture. There was a big serve of salad and herbs, more than just your basic selection you get at other places.
We had a few dishes including banh xeo, banh khot, banh beo, banh it tran and banh bot lot. They were all top notch!! They have dishes that can't be found in your standard Vietnamese restaurant, and they do it so so well.

Freshly made banh xeo, banh khot and banh beo is hard to find in restaurants as these dishes take 10-15 minutes to cook. Highly recommended the food and drinks here, the food is truly authentic and tastes like a homemade meal from grandma's kitchen.
I felt conflicted sharing this because it’s such a hidden gem. This is an independent mum and dad restaurant bringing their authentic Vietnamese cooking to Melbourne. This unassuming restaurant specialises in Banh Xeo (pancakes) and everything is homemade. Highly recommend the Banh khot and Banh Xeo.
