I would give them 10 stars... I absolutely love this place and highly recommend! As a naturopathic nutritionist I know the value of good food and it's getting harder in Perth to find good places to eat.
I love that they focus on seasonal, ethically and sustainably sourced foods, I love how they team up flavours so well, I love that they slow cook on the woodfire and bring dishes out one or two at a time so you can appreciate each one ... all of these factors give you nourishment, taste sensation and total satisfaction without feeling heavy afterwards.
We live an hour away in the Swan Valley but this is our new place for wholesome soul food and is totally worth the drive. Seriously even just for that flatbread and baba ganoush... Mmm. Thank you for keeping real food alive.
P. S. Would you open another one near us...? Love your work!
Kenny delivers time after time!
With an incredible rolling seasonal menu, showcasing the freshest local produce and using only an incredible “hole in the wall” Wood-fired oven. The trademark dishes include the baba ganoush (to die for Turkish style bread), the miso chicken and believe it or not the wood roasted olives!!!! I would now almost consider myself a frequent diner being here 8 times recently! Yep....I think I am in love!
Flat bread (topped up AUD20 for truffles) was super oily, maybe it’s meant to be but I did not enjoy my bread so soaked in oil.. especially when we are dipping into hummus with more oil in it 🥲 not that it was not tasty but perhaps would be better if the oil was cut back a bit. Hummus was delicious and tasted freshly made.
Clams and mullet fillet both very good. I loved the fish the most of of everything that we ordered. The sauce had a nice flavour and fish was very well cooked. Great texture.
Pork belly was tender and soft, even better when eaten together with the slaw. I like pork belly with crispy skin , this wasn’t the crispy skin type but tasted good still.
Had a pale ale called sick puppy or something, it tasted very light and refreshing and I loved it. Apple cider was also very good.
We were told that the menu changes everyday (wow!)
Dessert menu didn’t really speak to me that day so didn’t try any.
Remember to make reservations if you wish to secure a table because they seemed quite full during lunch service.
Great place, great food. We thoroughly enjoy our lunch there. The dishes we had was great except for the beef, we feel the gochujang basically mask the taste of the beef, wasn’t a standout dish especially for the price. But apart from that, was such a good feed. Staff were really helpful too overall. We look forward to returning!
What an experience! My Husband and I visited last night as a treat for our anniversary. We had heard about Manuka and have been meaning to go for a while. The passion the chefs have for food really shows. Everything was just absolutely delicious! The beef cheeks were the best I’ve ever had. Anyone who is a foodie needs to visit this place! We can’t wait to come back and try more. 🤩
Not a very big restaurant in size but when it comes to food and service its absolutely massive. What a wonderful experience the woodfired food is absolutely incredible taste to die for and the steak we ate was by far the best I've ever had in Perth. Service was swift , happy , friendly with lots of laughter was totally awesome.
To not visit Manuka is a life wasted but big tip there's a wait list so get in now.
Late review because I was reminded by Google!
Fantastic food and service
Melt in the mouth belly pork with crispy skin
Massive fresh prawns, scallops, and you can't stop eating the bread ☺️...
We went with the chef's set menu...
Great service
Lovely atmosphere
Delicious food
After many recommendations we finally got a chance to head to freo and try Manuka. I love a chef’s tasting to get the best spread of the menu and at $72 this tasting menu was excellent value.
Starting with bread was amazing but dangerous as it’s so hard to manage how much to eat and not spoil the rest of your meal! Generous start of bread, Stracciatella Cheese and hummus dip, amazing flavours and decent serving sizes and just when we thought we couldn’t manage anymore they brought out a mushroom medley in delicious sauce. 4 prawns that were meaty and well flavoured. Beetroot salad followed this as a nice break from rich food. Final savoury course was a duck and pork mixed meatloaf kind of thing, I didn’t love this the texture was a lot like tinned tuna stringy and didn’t do the meats justice. The tasting ended with a vanilla panna cotta.
Overall very filling, generous servings, good mix of meat and veg and tasty flavours.
OH-MY-YUM is how I feel about every dish I try at Manuka! From the Shark Bay tiger prawns with celeriac remoulade, fermented chilli and lemongrass to the wood-roasted Shark Bay scallops with nudja butter and finger lime. Oh and that humble but delicious flatbread. Nothing here disappoints. A cosy restaurant with attentive service (we loved the wood-fire smell as we entered the restaurant) - can’t wait for our next visit!
My wife and I had dinner and tried the chef's set meal that consists of 8 dishes. It was a combination of 5 starters, 1 salad, 1 main and 1 dessert. They source their ingredients fresh locally. What we liked most were the flat bread and hummus. We had a local fish and duck as our main. They really provided us with a good service throughout the night. I would recommend to order selected dishes from the menu based on your preference.
