Had an amazing breakfast. Servings are so generous and prices are very reasonable. A hidden gem. Will definitely be back. Well done guys.
Tried the home made granola with fresh fruit and a gorgeous peach, almond and coconut panacotta! Divine! Have always loved this place so so happy Ben and his team are going strong!
Had a lovely breakfast this morning. I had The Roll ...fresh ciabatta roll, bacon, egg, spinach and relish. The Boss had the Fruit Toast. Two big slabs which were fruity and plenty of butter was provided ...yum. Nice feel about this cafe. We will happily go back.
I love this place. Away from the hustle of Westfield, and the only food that's cooked with a bit of love on the waterfront. Great breakfasts, and the Ruben Panini is the bomb. The coffee's awesome too.
Great food and coffee. The staff were very friendly. We came for breakfast - the menu was great and the food delicious. Down the Alley deserves to be the busy little cafe that it is.
At first we thought perhaps we'd gotten there too late as the shop was a bit dark and there was only one other customer in the store.. Wed walked past several restaurant s and cafes buzzing with people on the waterfront.. The guy behind the counter was friendly and assured us the kitchen was still open and gave us a menu. The ice coffee was delicious and the okonomiyaki with a runny egg and pickled ginger surprisingly delightful.
Happy to help, professional food and people lovers.
Mr Husband came in to get us a bite. While they were just about to close for the day (chairs up, sweeping the place), those guys were more than happy to get into the kitchen and whip up a (most delicious, I might add!) vegetarian sandwich for me. The Reuben was excellent, Mr H said, and the coffees (one soy for moi, one strong) were the definition of perfect.
A great little spot hidden away, yes, you guessed it, down an alley. At first, I was a little put off by their limited menu. But despite this, the quality of the dishes they offer appears to be high. I thought the coffee was quite average, a little bitter, however the quality of their food makes Down the Alley an enjoyable breakfast option in Geelong. Staff were great too - would definitely come back here.
Food: Good

I visited Geelong and looking for a recommended breakfast. Found this place from the rating app. Very friendly staffs and food cooked well. European style food.
How good is this joint?!?! Hidden away is this ripper place. Bought our bully down and she was treated with as much love and attention as we were. Absolutely killer breakfast (how good is okinomiyaki in the am!!!!!
A must try on a lazy sunday morning.
Beautiful cafe located at Geelong! Had their poached eggs on sourdough + extra spinach and sautéed mushroom. Yumm the poached eggs are prefect!
Was so excited to try the Canadian waffles but they changed their menu. We had poached eggs on toast with bacon and roasted tomatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the tomatoes were a highlight, they were amazing and full of flavour! Coffee was good and service was lovely.
Great coffee, the best I had on my recent trip to Melbourne. Had the Eggs Benny and Eggs on Toast, generous serves and the poached eggs were just right. Good laid back atmosphere, great service, a hidden gem just around the corner from the larger, busier food places on the foreshore. Well worth the visit.
Walked around Geelong for over an hour trying to find somewhere for breakfast, stumbled upon this place and it turned our day around! Brilliant service, delicious food, funky premises (love the full wall artwork!) and superb coffee. Highly recommend, we will definitely be returning next time we're in Geelong
Friendly staff, breakfast was delicious (Had the banana french toast, with blueberrys and greek yougurt) and everything was very well presented.
This place is a little gem and had one of the best breakfasts we have had ever! The service was slow but as we were not in a hurry it was not an issue. Afterwards we commented on the family who were helping out and were told that the owner had been left in the lurch and had called in her family to help as she was taking orders, making coffee and cooking on her own which is simply not possible. I would give them 10 stars for effort and definitely for the delicious food and am sorry that the got bad reviews from people who should have gone to a fast food chain if they were in a hurry. If you want one of the best breakfasts ever and have time to just sit and enjoy, put these guys first on your list!
On the spur of the moment, we headed there for breakfast. The scrambled eggs on sour dough were very nicely done. Ordered an iced coffee after seeing one go to another table. Thanks, the two of use really enjoyed the meals.
Funky vibe and wall art. Greeted by friendly staff the moment I walked in the door. Was over the moon with my muffin still hot from the oven. Nice coffee and menu looked delish. A hidden gem, perfect chilled out place to refuel while exploring the waterfront!
Really great, simple food and excellent coffee. Relaxed atmosphere and the guy running the place was very chill, friendly and organised. Would be my regular if I lived in Geelong!
