Firstly I love the name. Anything with a pun and you already have my attention.
Heidelburger is very close to the train station, so if you catch the train here it’s very convenient.
I came here with a Melbourne influencer who enjoys eating sandwiches. The burgers themselves are decent quality. My friend had the steak sandwich and she enjoyed that also. The restaurant itself is very clean, lots of seating and has a good atmosphere. Service was friendly.
In a highly competitive burger environment, Heidelburger holds its own.
I love burgers and I had really high expectations for this place before going! Overall, it did not disappoint!
I loved the huge burger (the good, the bad and the ugly) it was so yum, everything was flavoursome and well-cooked and seasoned. It was definitely a huge burger but lucky I had some friends around to help share it.
The Italian snack pack was genius. The chips were crispy, the sauce was tasty and the meatballs were so delicious. It was honestly delicious. I was slightly disappointed with “the italiano” which felt a bit tasteless compared to the other burger, as the cheese and basil mayo weren’t adding much flavour to the burger and all of the flavours seemed to be a bit underdone. It was not a bad burger by any means – just needed a few minor adjustments to truly stand out in my opinion.
P.S. don’t go past the tiramisu milkshake, it was so tasty and definitely had a strong coffee flavour without being a nice break from the fried foods.
Overall, a great place with some really tasty options and massive potential!!
Heidelberger Bar is a newly opened burger joint located in the heart of Heidelberg. The place is owned by the creator of ‘Bean There’ which is located across the road. There’s a bit of a twist with the burgers on offer as there is a touch of Mediterranean/Italian in most of their dishes.
The decor was nice with bright yellow lights and wooden tables. We sat near the window. We ordered the Calabrese with the Charcoal Bun, The Good, The Bad, The Ugly on the Matcha Bun, the Italian Snack Pack and the Nutella/Oreo and Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Banana shakes!
The burgers were sensational. The meat was cooked to perfection, full of flavour and they were super tasty. They were extremely big but I was amazed to see that the burgers stayed intact as you at them. The sweet peperonata sauce was delicious - it really gave the burger that extra kick! The Italian Snack Pack is such a unique dish! Accompanied with fries, Italian metal sugo, melted cheese and basil mayo, the dish was a great addition to our burger feast. The shakes were incredible - they weren’t too milky and they weren’t too rich either. The Banana, Peanut Butter and Chocolate milkshake was definitely our favourite because you could taste all of the flavours.
The staff were extremely catering, attending to our needs and made the experience very enjoyable. We cannot wait to return to Heidelberger when we are next in the area and we cannot recommend this place highly enough!
We had the doppio (double patty) burger and the Classico. I had mine on a gluten-free bun which was pretty good! Meat patties are thicker Italian style with delicious herbs. Very tasty... We shared a small sweet potato chips, small size was only $5 and there was enough for both of us. Will be back to try the other burgers.
New burger place! I have visited twice now.
First visit, I ordered the “Italiano” burger because of the cheese upgrade, and I love sundried tomatoes.
Second visit, I ordered the “Classico” because it’s their regular, and don’t think the $2.50 price premium for the Italiano was worth it. Also ordered onion rings.
The burgers here are delicious and a good size! The beef patty was nice and thick, with decent flavour. On my 1st visit, the patty was a bit dry, but was perfect on the 2nd visit!
Heidelburger serves the best burgers on Burgundy St and in the vicinity of Austin Hospital and Heidelberg train station. Burgers at “The Train Yard” and “Alleyway” aren’t as good, IMO. Too small, and expensive for what you get in return. “The Fish”, which is a nearby fish & chip shop on Burgundy St sells very good burgers for the price (roughly $10!!!!!!), but they’re too oily, and frequently drip. I prefer Heidelburger, then either The Fish or Alleyway, while Train Yard ranks last.
The onion rings were great. Was very happy with them!
Haven’t had the chips. Next time.
Burger was great, plenty of parking on the side, located across the road from the train station

Nice neighbourhood fusion italian and burger joint. Beef patties were cooked medium rare, which I liked. Portions were generous. Will definitely be back for more.
Clean, simple super tasty burgers! Absolutely loved it! Fair price, fresh and delicious! Friendly family service. The bad reviews in here that are for delayed deliveries don’t have anything to do with the quality and service of this great place! Will visit again Roberto! All the best
Rob's food is amazing can't go past his omelette just an awesome bfast
Couldn't ask for more your local burger joint. The gentleman that runs it is a genuinely lovely guy and the food he creates reflects his care factor! Had the chicken burger and fries, would highly recommend.
Edit: After doing some research ive found that the restaurant listed on menulog at 304 Bell Street changed its name on the app to the name of this restaurant (possibly in order to deflect criticism). I have therefore changed my review to 5 stars. THIS MAY ALSO BE THE CASE FOR OTHER NEGATIVE REVIEWS.
Original review: Delivery driver did not follow instructions or even have the common sense not to ring the doorbell. instead he woke everyone @2am. Also no mask was worn during a pandemic. very disappointed.
