Ngon is a good place to catch up with your friends whilst enjoying delicious Vietnamese food. The menu had a whole variety of different dishes which is sure to cater for everyone. We tried the shaking beef, roast duck and roasted pork and broccoli fried rice. All of the dishes were very fresh and delicious (the portions were also very generous).
I will be back to try the other dishes :)

Ngon is a cute little local Vietnamese restaurant in Highett. Though we’re from the other side of the city, the long journey to the bayside was totally worth it!

The menu is extensive and offers a ton of variety. We tried a number of their most popular dishes, the highlights being:

Green Prawns - a very unique take on a fried prawn! They use some sort of cereal coating which is very crispy and yummy. I love the wasabi mayo dipping sauce!

Banh Xeo - one of my favourite dishes here! The crepe was crispy and thin, and it was filled with heaps of bean sprouts, prawn and pork. It’s served with a plate of lettuce and herbs to wrap, and a delightful sweet dipping sauce. So refreshing and delicious!

Pork Hock - this was crispy skin to the max! The skin was so thick, crispy and crackling, whilst the inside meat was still so tender and juicy. Again served with lettuce to wrap which helps to cut through the fat. It’s so good, but so filling too so make sure you have a few people to share!

Whole Baby Snapper - another one of my personal favourites. I loved the crispy skin on the snapper, coated in the delightful sauce. There was plenty of fish meat, and it’s even served with lettuce and vermicelli to wrap too. Delicious!

We also had an Ice Lychee and Vietnamese Ice Coffee to drink, both fo which were very refreshing. I loved how strong the coffee was.

Thank you so much for having us!

An amazing Vietnamese restaurant on the high street of Moorabin, Ngon Vietnamese may seem humble, but it is serving up fabulous, authentic food to loyal customers. The night we chose to dine here was extremely busy, with every table fully booked. This is a great sign, as surely that suggests good things to come. Welcoming staff showed us to our table while we admired the lovely murals on the wall of this pretty venue.

The menu is generous and covers a lot of classics, with a few different, more unusual choices as well. We started with some delicious wasabi crumbed prawns and beef wrapped in betel leaves. Both starters were so delicious, with the prawns being lovely and spicy whilst the beef was tender and flavoursome.

We chose to have the amazing roasted duck platter, sticky salmon and a refreshing Vietnamese salad as our mains. The duck was plentiful and generous in it's presentation, with golden crispy skin and fantastic dipping sauces. The meat was succulent and juicy, and we really enjoyed this platter. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and it's sticky sauce was so full of flavour that I just couldn't stop eating it. The Vietnamese style coleslaw with plenty of green mango was a delight. The dressing was sweet and sharp and really worked well to cut through the richness of our mains.

Not wanting to leave without trying dessert, we agreed to share the Vietnamese coffee creme caramel. What a treat this dessert was. The creamy custard was the perfect foil for the coffee flavoured sauce, and we savoured every spoonful.

All around us was the happy sound of people enjoying their meals. Even though it was a full house, the staff were still attentive and friendly, and it was clear that there is a lot of love injected into this restaurant. With it's lovely ambience and fantastic food, Ngon Vietnamese is one of those family run restaurants that have you returning again and again, and I know that we will be back for sure.

Ngon is a lovely Vietnamese restaurant located in Highett. The menu is extensive ranging from traditional Vietnamese cuisine to broader Asian dishes.

Visiting for a weekend lunch we ordered the soft shell crab papaya salad, satay pork spare ribs, shaking beef, green prawns and coffee creme caramel to eat along with a Vietnamese iced coffee and ice lychee to drink.

The soft shell crab papaya salad came out beautifully presented topped with plenty of soft shell crab. The salad was light and refreshing and worked beautifully with the crispy crab.

The shaking beef featuring wok tossed eye fillet in black pepper sauce served on a a sizzling hot plate was superb. The beef was cooked to perfection and worked beautifully with the black pepper sauce and veggies.

The green prawns were beautiful. Coated in puffed rice they were nice and crispy on the outside and went well with the accompanying wasabi mayo.

Although not as pretty as the other dishes we ordered, the satay pork spare ribs were another well cooked tasty dish. Found under the small bites section of the menu, this was another generously portioned dish.

The coffee creme caramel was the perfect way to end our meal. It was melt in your mouth good and I loved that it wasn’t overly sweet.

Overall I had a great experience at Ngon and I recommend that you check them out if you’re in the area. I rate Ngon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ our of 5. Thanks very much for having me.

This vietnamese restuarant has done well for the location it's in. Hand painted mural on one side of the restuarant with it leading to a yellow wall on the other side which lightens up the place. Lanterns light up the ceiling.

Banh xeo.
Excellent balance of flavours. There was a good mix of vegetable, meat and pancake. We've never had roasted pork in this dish, but it was a great choice. It was tender and juicy with a crispy skin.

Beef pho cooked in 12 HR broth.
Tender meats and well cooked soft noodles. The both was well flavoured and accompanied with a bowl of fresh mint and bean shoots.

Five spice tofu rice paper rolls.
Compact with a load of sliced tofu and well cooked vermacelli. The hoison peanut dipping sauce is a perfect match.

Iced lychee.
Today was hot so this drink was extra refreshing. Think of a slurpee-like texture except a sweet lychee flavour and real fruit.

Vietnamese white iced coffee.
Loaded with crushed iced that melts well with the strong coffee.

Fried icecream.
Shredded coconut batter that is well deep fried with icecream that isn't too hard.

This vietnamese restaurant is a recommended place to go to if you're looking for authentic Vietnamese cuisines..

Ngon is just around the corner from us and we've been looking for a good Vietnamese restaurant around the area. We ordered the banh xèo (Vietnamese pancake), red duck curry and the ham hock which was divine. Topped it off with Mama's fried rice (so good!). The food was really delicious and legit Viet flavours. The people there were so lovely and made sure we were well taken care of. Will definitely be back again!

Ngon is the place to get amazing Vietnamese cuisine in Highett! Run by a lovely Vietnamese couple, they’re serving up amazing dishes that’ll sate any appetite, like VFC - crispy crunchy Vietnamese fried chicken, or the succulent roast duck, and banh xeo (crispy Vietnamese crepes) - wash it all down with a sofa chanh - a traditional Vietnamese soft drink! Definitely the place in Highett to hit up for Vietnamese!

Highett isn’t the first place you’d think of Vietnamese food and here sits a hidden gem. Ngon Vietnamese translates to Yum Vietnamese and you’ve gotta be amazing to name your restaurant that. The staff were super friendly and we came in at lunch time which we found out that not a lot of people come in for lunch, but for dinner. So luckily for us we had the whole venue to ourselves *wink wink*.

Dropped by to order a bowl of special beef pho but found out that they dont serve traditional Vietnamese Pho , ie: with the lot. I was a lil disappointed. Seems like They’ve adapted their menu to the local community. I ended up ordering a papaya salad with soft shell crab which I think was very overpriced $27 . Now that I think of it, could have just ordered a simple bowl of beef pho at $16 😂😂 enjoyed the restaurant decor though. Note : if you want traditional meals- its not the place for it :)

Came here for the Banh Xeo (Vietnamese crepes). Photos look very appetising with the crepe looking ultra crispy with nice fillings. I was pleased with what I got compared to the ones I've had in Springvale. Green rice prawns are a new thing to try for us. Not bad. Didn't enjoy it because it soaked too much oil. We had the BEST lemon lime bitters here. Strong hit and awesome aftertaste.
