What a wonderful spot! Rather than spend a day touring distilleries, hubby and I popped in to Society for whisky flights.
We found tremendous service, knowledgeable staff, a cozy atmosphere, and an impressively extensive list (including half pours if you're in the mood to sample off the provided platters). We're only here for a week, but we'll be back in.
Fabulous range of Tassie and Australian gins and they make their own tonic which is delish. The staff are very helpful too. Highly recommend this great bar
Fantastic place, lovely staff, incredible and mind-blowing gin selection!!! We had the gin tasting, which were both amazing. I love that they specialised in Tassie gin. Highly recommended.
Visited society last night, the drinks were well balanced and customer service was grt. They made me a cocktail out of the menu as i was in a mood of Capri. Great ambiences as well. Nice Saturday night out.
Society is an open plan bar. You survey the environment before descending the half dozen stairs down to the seating. The bar on the back wall is lined from its little toes to the tip of its head with beautiful top shelf bottles.
There’s a wine and beer list that we’re told will continue to change and a cocktail list.
We met a very lovely young bar attendant called Fiona and the mixologist, operations manager AND director, Angela Nichols.
Three out of four of us elected the vino, but faced with a cocktail list, This Girl chose a margarita on the rocks. And a damn fine margarita it was too, gold tequila and the right balance of sweet and sour for this palate.
Totes amaze-balls, you can buy a glass of Tasmanian wine at Salamanca for, drum roll, less than $10! The margarita was $18 and is accompanied by a list of peers like the sloe fizz, martini, dark and stormy and a gin sting for the same price.
Very happy I got to this bar! Just around the corner from the Salamanca strip, it’s out of the ‘busy’ and potentially messy night scene. When walking in, it was a very spacious bar and beautiful decor that felt quite luxurious and industrial at the same time…
The drinks were quick, the menu had some fun looking drinks and it was laid out well, and the service was awesome - I got greeted straight away. The shelves were amazing, so many spirits available!! Both cocktails I had were perfect for what I was feeling, and how they ‘should’ taste. That’s always nice (haha).
It was a chill evening so got to chat to the bartenders about some other places in Hobart to visit and they had great spots that suited me. I also got to meet another lovely human sitting at the bar, so Society attracts nice people (bonus!).
Would recommend popping in and having a drink here!
Elegant bespoke bar with an impressive collection of spirits. Cosy, classy vibes, excellent service, and the most delicious baked brie.
Also, on a Wednesday night, fun trivia and delicious tacos/nachos.
Highly recommend.
As an out of Towner, Society Salamanca is a welcoming hearth for anybody who enjoys fine drinks. The bar has a charming ambience but best of all, it has friendly and welcoming staff.
EASILY the best bar in Hobart!! They have amazing drinks, slaying drag nights and the vibe is to die for!!
A great little place to sit and drink whiskey and gin. Large selection knowledgeable staff, with a friendly disposition. Have visited several times, and never had the same drink twice. A Salamanca nightlife staple.
Great range of Tasmanian and foreign whiskies with very knowledgable staff! Cocktails and mocktails are quality too!
Incredible bar staff, good cheap drinks during happy hour, incredible vibes, love it!
Amazing atmosphere great friendly and welcoming staff. And the quiz night is especially fantastic.
