By far my favourite place to get a dirty chai. The coffee is amazing. The shop inside is full of lovely things to buy which I believe is mainly sourced locally. Really lovely staff whenever we go in.
The pretty town of Kyneton is definitely a foodies paradise, and Duck Duck Goose is a must visit if you are in town. The larder shop at the rear is a wonderland of beautiful fresh foods, deli items and cooking supplies; as well as a beautiful array of serving ware and gifts.
The front of this vast venue is set up as a cosy cafe, which gets very busy, particularly on weekends. Brimming with country hospitality, this cafe has lovely staff and an appetising menu. The coffee is really good, and the homemade cakes are divine. I love that the cakes are served on mismatched vintage china, which adds that country touch. Duck Duck Goose is a lovely spot and definitely worth popping in for a coffee or meal if you are in this gorgeous part of the world.
Splendid breakfast/brunch/lunch spot in the more arty part of Kyneton. Emphasis on rural with its foodstuffs, crockery and heavy wood fittings - and fresh produce. The salmon on rye with avocado, brie, pickled cucumber with lemon and nigella seeds ($19) truly scrumptious - and the chicken burger on the other side of the table ($17) much appreciated.
You pay a little more, but a worthy stop off in a street with quite a few competitors.
2 things I loved about my visit: tasty meatballs and the shop set up inside. It was so cool to see one massive shed with high ceiling and the seating area to one side. What I didn't love so much was the lack of heaters inside. It was cold outside and it wasn't thatuch warmer inside either. Hard to enjoy your brunch when you're sitting there shivering or wearing a coat.
One of our favourite brunch spots in this area. We hadn't been back in while, and to our surpise it was a little bit of a change.
1. Counter moved to front entrance. A little tight when you're trying to enter and people are paying.
2. Menu. Breakfast cut off at 11.30am! Makes it hard when you're coming from Melbourne and wanted to do "brunch". They have a lunch menu but was a bit limited and couldn't even add a poached egg (even if menu stated to look at the breakfast menu for sides)... honestly I prefered the all day menu.
3. Servings.
I recall my last couple of meals here being a good hearty serve. However, this time I was left wanting more. Yes, Because the dish was awesome! But also because I could still fit more in! Forgivable given the fresh ingredients and local produce.
The Bruschetta:
I would recommend they put the topping for the on both pieces of bread and not just on the top. Looks good but not practical, trying to divi it up. Also, i expected the candied prosciutto to be cut smaller and crisp so you get that burst in each bite.
Canadian Brioche (i can't remember what it was called). The texture was a little soggy throughout but didn't hurt the dish. I'm not one to have sweet on my savoury but I passed this off as savoury on my sweet!
Scones.
4/5 on the radar. Soft, light, fluffy & didn't crumble. Jam and cream were great although I would have liked a bit more, and the cream thickened more.
Also, scone was a little too moist (maybe due to heating?)
Coffee
I've had their coffees before and cannot fault it. Their single origin cold brew from guatemala was even better! - reason to return!
4. Service
110% attentive, friendly, patient and approacable.
5. Atmosphere
Casual, country, provedore style.
Bonus points for mlm giving us a place to shope while waiting for food!

This cafe is really well worth pulling of the highway for a meal or coffee and cake !!! Great vibe, very helpful staff and a wonderful selection of food to choose from. Great coffee and everything is reasonably priced !
Great little cafe in Trentham with fantastic food, excellent service, and beautiful homewares and giftware that I couldn't stop rummaging through. Definitely going back and would recommend everyone to try this place if you're in the area.
Great coffee and tasty food. Cakes and sweet treats are very hard to resist. Lots of delicious options to choose from. The caramel slice was rich and probably best shared. A nice place to sit and watch the world go by. Staff were friendly and attentive.
I went to the duck duck goose for Mother’s Day (Happy Mother’s Day to everyone in Kyneton.)
My bowl of chips gave me kidney failure but otherwise it was excellent experience keep up the good
What an orgasmic experience! Setting was amazing and so social whilst the Big Smoke burger knocked our socks off! The pulled beef inside it was unreal, marinated in a sweet and smoky sauce. Also couldn't resist buying a Salted Caramel slice after eating a piece on tastings offer. Would come back everyday!
