Review Leura Gourmet - Leura

Terry Davis
This is an excellent cafe. Good food, service , views and coffee. Small and busy but the man had it moving all the time. Well worth the wait to be seated. Great spot, coming back.

Leura Gourmet is an extremely popular cafe for tourists in Leura. You can tell by looking at the endless queues. ✅ good food We tried chicken and leek pie, goat cheese tart (highly recommended), rhubarb and apple cake. ✅ polite and efficient service ✅ the deli display has ready-made food, cheese, and cold meats for takeaway. You can also buy souvenirs at the shop ✅ very nice view ❌ long waiting time ❌ feeling cramped when many people squeeze into a small space ❌ extremely noisy, not an ideal place to chat, or for young kids ❌ toilets are unkempt

Fantastic menu and great service, nice views too. The lunch menu surpassed that of some 5 star hotels in the area in quality (no joke) and I'll be coming back. FYI halal dishes served here.

Excellent cafe with great views. Went here for brekky and loved it. The staff are great. The place has a deli section with a huge selection.

I am never ordering a steak sandwich from anywhere else ever again. Nothing will live up to this one! Highly recommend! Also has friendly service and nice coffee!

Loved Leura Gourmet! It was packed in a good way with top views, 5 star coffee and quality foods.

Fabulous food. Beautiful surroundings. Great service. Problem was controlling oneself from buying all the delectables on display. I love this place!

Pasta and fruit juice tasted great! Only thing held it back was it's portion size vs price (dine in). However their take away only selection of pies sandwiches and pasta were reasonably priced and generous. Takeaway was really delicious and worth the money :)

their deli has some special delicacies, we got some duck salami for $22, very nice. the cafe is not very big so be prepare to wait for your seating. we were having a late lunch there and saw the snow!

Oh brother. I was hoping for more from this place, I truly was. The coffee was top notch; it had me, Hulk Hogan, ready to tear my singlet in half. And then came my scrambled eggs. I thought I’d seen some dry, overcooked eggs before, ya know Mrs Hogan is a bit long in the tooth. But these eggs were not to my liking, and I wouldn’t even wish them upon my greatest foe Andre The Giant. If you wish to dine here, my brothers, Hulk recommends sticking to the fried and poached egg options. Hulkmania2019

The restaurant does have quite nice views over the Blue Mountains area although we were not seated right at the window. We stopped by for a bite to eat and it was quite average, particularly noting the price. I had the pasta of the day and I did enjoy it, although felt that I had to add some more salt/pepper to add more flavouring to it.

A gorgeous deli display of colourful salads, baked savouries and other delicious things greet you as you enter Leura Gourmet Cafe and Deli, with shelves overflowing with condiments, packaged biscuits and all manner of other things that would be right at home in a gourmet food hamper on the left wall. Hidden down the back would have to be some of the most spectacular dining views in the Blue Mountains. It seems a very popular cafe so be prepared to wait for a table, or simply order to go to enjoy their delicious food.

A colorful place for the eyes and tummy! <br/><br/>Upon entering the premise, we were welcomed by some deli, bread and treats specialised in Leura. Then, by the counter we waited for our table. The crew here were generously smiled and tried their best to assist. <br/><br/>We ordered sandwiches and the chicken pie (in photos) and were surprised with the large serving. Although it was costly, we didn't mind because of the food, service and ambiance. We were overlooking some hills and mountains.

Quite a popular place it looks like. There was a queue to be seated. The servers kept us informed of the time of wait. We got a table quite quickly. Service was swift. All the dishes looked very appetizing. My hubby didnt like the anchovies in his Traditional Caesar salad, but that was our mistake as we expected the usual Chicken Caesar Salad. Drinks were spot on. The duck sausage was a refreshing change, though I did get a few bone fragments in it. I ordered an Iced mocha as i was paying the bill, the billing lady muddled it but was quick to apologize and got another one made for me.<br/>Point to note they had so many ready-to-buy gourmet delicacies in the store. Organic jam, bush honey, rose/vanilla/pistachio fairy floss, almond nougat are few of the very many out there..<br/>All in all worth visiting again

Horrible place.  Arrived at 10.45am to have brunch and commenced to queue.  Was completely ignored by wait staff.  Asked for a menu, no response.  Then I spied one and started reviewing.  At 10.55am saw people leaving the queue and overheard that breakfast service was ending at 11.  Was very close to front of queue by now and asked if I would be served breakfast just after 11.  Was told no and when I said I should have been given that information prior, was told to 'go back where I came from' by the barista.  Wow. Awful.

The deli is great - beautiful, high quality, local food. Crowded and tricky to get service at times but this I can handle. Cafe is a little harder to rate well. Customer service isn’t great - impersonal and inattentive on my first visit, and abrupt, bordering on rude my second visit. Our waiter (on the most recent visit) was lovely and at pains to ensure our orders were correctly taken; his maitre’d, on the other hand, not so much. Brunch menu is lovely, but lunch menu less appealing. I had the corn fritters - bland, with a rather miserable salad. My companions had much better luck with their choices, but again, customer service slippages. I would return for the deli items but not for the cafe.....unless hard pressed for alternatives.

Good but overpriced. <br/>Nice venue, good menu, good food and decent staff. <br/>Baguettes are way overpriced at about $20 a pop and my salad had 3 drops of a rather nice dressing.

Every time I come up to the Blue Mountains I always stop by and have a bit to eat here. It's a nice location with plenty of seating out the back with a view over the valley. Service is quick and pretty friendly. They always have plenty on offer on the menu to please most people. This time round I had the caramelised onion tart, it was scrumptious although I would've loved a little more onion as in mine there just wasn't enough. This is a perfect spot to stop by for a coffee, juice or a substantial feed. So next time you're in the area check it out for yourself!

I highly recommend Leura Gourmet cafe & Deli, be it with family, friends or with your partner.<br/><br/>Every time we visit leura we always grab a cuppa in their cutest yellow take away mug :) and stroll along the streets of the village. The Gourmet cafe is a perfect place to visit for breakfast with lots and lots of take away option as weIl and the entry to the cafe attracts and prompts you to take a seat with the fresh aroma of different varieties of cheese and gourmet products. <br/><br/>Though it was bit busy and we waited for 5 minutes to get a table but its worth waiting.<br/><br/>I really liked the ambience of the cafe with perfectly positioned blue mountains panorama.<br/>Being a vegetarian I ordered Sourdough toast with Avocado, fetta, baked tomato and rocket salad in the side and I was really impressed with my toast as it was exactly how I want my breakfast with a refreshing and strong skimmed coffee. <br/><br/>Even the staff members were welcoming and without any doubt I would say we received an exceptional service.<br/><br/>Really enjoyed my sumptuous breakfast!

Leura Gourmet and Deli Review. It is a quaint restaurant cum deli with many offerings at the front and a lovely seating area with a fantastic view at the back. We were here early so we didn't have to queue for a seat but it was rather full already. My mum and I had the corn fritter which tasted amazing with the tangy sour cream. The salad with the vinaigrette was lovely as a refreshing side to the fried fritter. My dad had the chicken pie which was full of tasty lean chicken chunks. My brother had the lamb shanks which admittedly was the tastiest of the bunch. The lamb shanks were tender and full of meat and the sauce and mashed potatoes added to the comforting feeling of the dish. I had an affogato as my drink which is made from Serendipity ice cream. It was okay. I would recommend this place if you want a decent meal with a nice view and atmosphere.

We stopped by for a late lunch last Sunday when the cafe was moderately busy. We ordered the lamb shanks and pasta special of the day. The lamb shanks were tender, however the sauce left much to be desired. Although there was a generous serving of sauce, it was dominated by the flavour of tinned tomatoes and not much else. The mash hidden underneath the shanks and sauce was watery, lumpy and flavourless. It tasted like over boiled potatoes that had been made into mash, frozen and reheated again. The pasta of the day was spaghetti in white wine cream sauce with ham, olives, spinach and red onion. It was the better dish of the two and the sauce was flavoursome despite comprising an odd combination of ingredients (for my taste). I was disappointed in the quality of ingredients used in the pasta given that we were at the "gourmet deli" cafe. The ham was thin and I suspect the cheap processed type from the packet and the kalamata olives were the pitted ones you buy in the jar, despite the deli having a quality selection of olives available just a few metres from the kitchen. The ambience was good, mostly due to the beautiful view from the window. The service was average, with the waitress forgetting to bring my water despite serving my partner his drink quickly. Despite this, they were polite and we didnt wait a very long time for our food, To be honest, I won't be going here again or recommending it to anyone.
Food Is Really Great
Leura is, in my opinion, one of the most picturesque areas in the blue mountains. Recently I stopped by this cafe, veeeery busy considering it was the easter long weekend, but also a good sign of popularity. I got all takeaway since there was a long line to sit down. The eggplant parmigiana is basically just eggplant, cheese, and tomato sauce. And the most dominant flavour is (olive??) oil. Definitely good comfort food but it is quite heavy. The samosas are average and kind of tasted like instant chicken noodles ??? but not in a bad way. If you do manage to get a table, the view out the window is beautiful!!
Tenya
Busy little cafe in Leura that serves outstanding coffee. The soy flat white was smooth and flavoursome and was served in a bright yellow takeaway cup. We also had some dairyfree ice crem there that was absolutely delicious. Can highly recommend passionfruit.

Went on a day trip to the Blue Mountains with my family who are visiting Sydney. Ended up having lunch here as café/restaurant reviews of the area seemed much of a muchness? The dining room has a great view (although we couldn’t see it from our table). All surfaces are hard (floor, chairs etc) which created a very noisy room when filled with diners (one of my pet peeves).<br/><br/>Service was mixed, we had one nice waiter and one rude waitress who made a number of brusque comments which were not warranted under any circumstances. We went at peak lunch time (around 1pm) and waited a decent amount of time for food (about 30 mins).<br/><br/>But the worst was yet to come. My food was truly awful. I had the ‘veal medallions’ in a sauce with zucchini, tomatoes and potatoes (Chat I think?). The medallions lacked flavour, were tough as old boots and came in a perfectly nice looking brown sauce. However,  the sauce was extremely acidic with no other discernible flavour. Frankly I don’t think I’ve ever had anything quite like it before. Absolutely disgusting. The others in my group had various sandwiches which were bland.<br/><br/>Considering some of the lovely lunch food from cafes we've had over the last few days in Manly and Bondi this was an extreme disappointment.

Little gourmet deli selling heaps of things like sweets, jams, spices, teas etc. They have a deli window selling heaps of food like Arancini, lasagnes and much more / to take away. A lot of option, looks delicious. They also have seating at the back of their Deli for a cafe with a fireplace. It's pretty cosy. They have sandwiches, pies, burgers, steak sandwiches and coffee and m juices. I got the pumpkin soup to warn me up. It was a good consistency and came with a big bit of garlic bread. A friend got the Pot pie which was s great size serving and chicken flavour, came with salad. Another friend got the prawn pasta which she enjoyed. Food tasted nice, and service was fast. Great view of the valley from the cafe. Nice and popular place to stop by in by when in Leura!

I thoroughly didn't expect the cute cafe behind the deli...it had an amazing view close to the window...food didn't impress much. Service was excellent and so was be ambiance.

Hiding behind the deli is the cafe. The cafe has a lovely view of the valley between Leura and Katoomba, with the majestic Carrington Hotel sitting on top of the hill. Busy even mid week so get in early, wait staff friendly and helpful.

A place like Blue Mountains, where you have hoards of tourists coming from Sydney for a good day-trip. Often comes with an expectation to pack the most in a day. Which means its often hungry & exhausted day trippers, willing to get a quick bite and move back home before the day ends. <br/><br/>Similar was the case with us, with the exception that we went on a very very cold day and was in search of a nice, humble and heart warming meal. Also, add to that kids has some kind of menu already in their mind. <br/><br/>To start with, this cafe has amazing views. Don't be fooled by its humble entrance, just keep walking towards the rear and you are welcomed with some breathtaking views. Then add to that, decor is simple & very comforting. The staff were very friendly and specially the girl who served was so polite and friendly. She also acted as our local guide and told us what to see and all. I wish I had asked her name, will do that next time for sure. <br/><br/>The food was again very simple yet very good. We ordered the pasta of the day (Chilly Garlic Prawn Pasta) with some hot chocolates and Apple and raspberry cake. It was all very good, probably the hot chocolate could have been better. <br/><br/>I am coming back again and will definitely recommend it to anyone.

Good quality food with nice view. We went there on weekday for late lunch. This cafe is still not short of customers. Not surprized. With value for money food, nice view and chill decoration, everyone surely wants to come back.

The food here is great. Just had the pork and sage sausage and it was very yummy. Finished off with their Serendipity chocolate fudge ice cream - which totally FANTASTIC. The only down side is there is always a queue for a table - but you don't have to wait long.

Today was a crazy day in the Blue Montains... and we was hungry and stop in this place.... there was a queue but the staff was frendly and we only we had to wait a few minutes...<br/><br/>The food was great, it has the perfect temperature, was big! The juice was so good...I choose orange and carrot and the dessert unforgettable...everything was good!! <br/><br/>Thanks for giving me a spectacular day!

Sure it’s a tourist town, but noodlies, Sydney food blog reckons you shouldn’t be fleeced for bad food. After a visit to Leura Gourmet you won’t feel like some tourist that’s paid too much for crap food and fake service.

Always fabulous, quick to be seated and served , the staff are friendly and our lunch was great, love stopping here in the way to Sydney or on the way home

We were there for lunch on a Friday. After queuing up for more than 5 mins, we had a table, but then we waited for about half an hour before getting our food. I ordered Pasta of the Day, but was given something different. After I told the waitress what I actually ordered, she apologised and quickly went back to kitchen and came back with the right dish, however I was surprised to see how small the portion was. I actually even doubted that whether they split up someone's else meal into two to be able to offer me the right dish so quick but with such small portion.  My daughter ordered lasagne from the Kid Menu. She wasn't that pleased either as she found the bottom half a bit hard, which makes me wonder whether it wasn't cooked properly either. This place is definitely not a place we would go back. Poor service and the tiny portion makes the pasta not worth it's $18 (or $19) price tag.
The Hedonist Life
The menu has something for everyone and they have a nice selection of gourmet foods and sauces out the front. We were starving by the time we arrived in late afternoon and were happy to see a bunch of free tables which be warned isn’t normally the case if you come at lunch time. We settled on the soup of the day to get us going, the pumpkin soup came out quickly with toasted crusty bread. It was a pretty generous serving for $12.90 and was enough to be shared between the two of us. Soup of the day $12.90 When it comes to pasta I don’t mess around, I’m a connoisseur and I rarely eat it if it isn’t made fresh on the premises, however when

Great food and great views. <br/>I'm a return customer.

Ordinary food. Poor service. We had a large group (6 + pram) and we got the impression we were a hassle. As a couple of us were finishing a drinks we were told they needed our table and needed to leave.

We stopped in for coffee and cake over the long weekend. Seated quickly and decent view, however the service was extremely poor not being asked for our order for 15 mins. With the coffee finally arriving another 20mins after that! My partner also ordered one of their pricey desserts, which was ok, but not for the 9.90 price tag.

Excellent food in ideal location. We chance upon Leura Gourmet and it was surprisingly good! The prawn pasta as well as chicken potato leek soup were fantastic. One of the best meal we had in Sydney. The views of blue mountain are one of the plus point of Leura gourmet too.
Stephbmurphy85
Impressed and Appreciative. Despite having had the Australian Wallabies in their restaurant, the staff were so warm and welcoming to my mother in law, husband, 5 month old son (in his massive pram) and myself. A table was ready within minutes of entering the restaurant and service was quick. Food is always amazing and that's why iv been back there every time I visit Leura. <br/><br/>Try the pasta of the day, soup of the day and salmon on pappadums! So Delish!

With the lovely selection of gourmet food at the front, you expect the food to be above average. Except it's ordinary. Breakfast lacks imagination and is not well prepared. By all means, visit the front section, but no need to bother with the back.
Kelly
Good views but the food at this cafe is terrible and completely overpriced. We ordered two bacon sandwiches at $20 each that were almost all fat and served messily with tomato and sauce all over the plate. Corn fritters also disappointing. Plates, glasses and cutlery were dirty and the chefs didn't seem to have much care for the food at all. Coffee was average. Service ok.

As a fan of the deli I came back for some breakfast at the cafe section of this joint only to be absolutely disappointed and disgusted with what was on my plate. If your a fan of microwave reheated sausage and burnt bacon that actual tastesd off, I would reccomend this joint. I hope the leftovers on our plates gives the kitchen some hint. Such a contrast to their deli section. Dissapointing!
Tony
Once loyal customer. The food and location are still highly recommended after numerous years as a customer, however the service I experienced today was enough to lose my business for good. After having an enjoyable breakfast, I then proceeded to purchase some merchandise and a take away coffee, whilst my family were waiting outside. The place was busy so it took a few minutes before I placed the order. However, once placed I was then left standing there for over 10 minutes waiting for my coffee. I understand that a number of in-house coffees were prepared, however a lady walked in and then took the barista away from his activities for a number of minutes. When I could see my daughter outside a little upset and my wife wondering what was going on, I then approached the counter to ask whether I had been forgotten. This is where the response was most disappointing. I was told that I had not been waiting for the time I had suggested, when I clearly had and then when the coffee did eventually arrive, the barista was apparently shocked at my lack of a thank you, stating a thank you would be nice in a sarcastic tone. This, when an apology would have been expected, but I was rudely shocked that I had been treated as the bad guy for speaking up. I then replied that I was not likely to visit again and another female staff member could be heard to cheer. This is the first ever review I have written, however after this experience, I felt compelled to highlight the poor service delivered at Leura Gourmet Café & Deli. A shame, as I would have been a customer for many years to come.

Delicious with a view. Perfect location in the heart of Leura, you will enjoy a delicious meal with a fantastic view. It is busy so you may be waiting for a table but you're sure to enjoy it. <br/><br/>Perfect casual lunch.

A lovely lunch spot. While the food is pretty standard, the friendly service and beautiful views make up for it. Great, relaxed atmosphere too and a great deli and larder range to browse and take home, thumbs up,
Orange_tree
Not the chai. Lovely array of gourmet produce, fine foods and Serendipity ice-cream. The hot chocolate was rich and thick. Bonus points for the marshmallows. However, the Pakistan chai, supposedly made with loose leaf tea and spices brewed in milk, was disappointing. There was barely a teaspoon of tea and not a spice to be seen. Pretty much tasted like steamed milk.

Had a nice bacon and egg breaky. Waitress was friendly and quick. The lunch items looked nice. Lots of really Nice gourmet items on the store too. Nice clean neat ambience.

This place had good food. My favourite was the hot chocolate with cinnamon and chilli. I had the salmon and pappadam salad and it was a great idea to combine the two. Servings were generous. The lambs fry was very tasty and my friends seem happy with the French steak sandwich, duck sausages and corn fritters. Food came fast too. Good place all in all :)

Crackerjack. I really love this place, great menu, suits couples, families, everyone. Never had lousy service...<br/><br/>As an added bonus they sell great condiments, deli-meats, gelato, oils, you name it. Busy place so pick your time well...

The kids enjoyed the lasagne. Chicken and mango salad was deliciously spicy. Chicken pie went down well.<br/>Relatively quick service in a busy cafe.

Amazing gelatos!. I cannot recommend the coconut and kaffir lime gelato enough...it was creamy and had slivers of fresh coconut and lime leaf in each mouthful...how absolutely wonderful! The steak sandwich we had was great too.
