Pho Xua - Glenferrie Road, Malvern
Bun Bo Hue
It’s been a while since I’ve eaten Bun Bo Hue that ever so fragrant Vietnamese dish, well it’s only been a few weeks but by any stretch that is far too long.
I’ve been eying off Pho Xua for a while now, any viet place that calls BBH by its name and doesn’t label it as a spicy pho is alright by me!
This restaurant has a range of winter warmers, duck soup, pho but I only had eyes for one thing. It came out piping hot, my first impression was there was a lack of coriander on the top but the broth underneath looked accented with chili and lemongrass just the way I liked it. As per usual I opted for egg noodles, the chewyness of the noodles was perfection and mixed well with the bold beef soup stock which got more fragrant as you worked your way to the bottom of the bowl.
I’m a fan, the price point while higher than our friends in Victoria street and Footscray was still well justified with some quality cuts of meat and some well spiced pork loaf. If they can add a few more herbs to the topping this will deliver a great dish!

My brother is a regular here. We ordered egg noodles with roasted chicken, spicy beef noodle, and spring rolls. Love the spring rolls, abit different with usual ones I had. But my favorite would be the beef noodle although not that spicy for asian tastebud.
Just found a new favourite!! Delicious, authentic Vietnamese food - all in a relaxed atmosphere with wonderful attentive service. Do yourself a favour and visit Pho Xua. Highly recommend!
First time here for dinner. Good value, nice interior and quick service, their serving is actually pretty big too. Friendly and approachable staff as well. I will be back :)
Just finished take away for the whole family tonight and everyone loved it. The vegetable dish was full of vegetables and the Pho was expertly prepared. We will become regulars here. Thanks Jason and the team.
Dinner with the “bridge boys” on a hot April night was very satisfying. We shared everything including the Vietnamese pancake, stir fried beef, chicken, vermicelli noodles and the very special fish cake. We started with the sharing plate of their great spring rolls, rice paper rolls and prawn. Come and enjoy. This is a way above average suburban Vietnamese with a slightly different to usual menu and very tasty food. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming.
The food was exceptional. The vietnamese coffee made the way it should be. The food was on point with very little fault. Very reasonable pricing. Also the service was very good. I cant fault and definetly would return. Definetly recommend for anyone in the area or even outside the area. Also i feel like I am in vietnamm!!! The nostalgia.
Food: great pho, delicious flavour... could not fault. 10/10 shame only beef not chicken as advertised on the zomato menu listing..... Wings were 6/10 were okay nothing but blow my mind. Spring rolls were yum... pho was definelty the highlight!!! Drinks were great, also pretty cool u could order popular western drinks
Service: Very attentive, quick... happy to help, explain the menu... 10/10
Ambiance: 7/10 cool asain vibe but lack of air con really put me off..... I felt like I was in a sauna.... had to move out side and mild breeze gave me some sigh of relief.
Overall will be back.... enjoyed the flavours of the pho immensely and I have had many a pho in my day.

I visited Pho Xua with my partner and we were both very pleased with our meals. We had the spring rolls, which delicious and quite unlike any other spring rolls I’ve had previously. My partner had a beef pho and I had a special duck soup with eggs noodles. The broth in the duck soup was rich, but not overwhelmingly so, and the duck just melted off the bone. My partner loved the pho also. We were both extremely satisfied with our choices. The service was impeccable. Jason and the rest of the staff were super helpful and lovely to chat to. Will definitely be making this a regular local visit.
If you're looking for Authentic Vietnamese food then look on further. On the corner of the Glenferrie this beautifully styled place offers this. Its really a great menu with heaps of traditional dishes on offered. All well cooked and heaps of flavours. The goat curry was outstanding
