Review Scopri - Melbourne

Eat with Josephine
One of my favourite Italian restaurants. If only I could stomach more, I would have ordered more. All the dishes were amazing and super hearty. The service was exceptional. Highly recommend this place. I will definitely be back

I had been trying to get a dinner reservation for awhile and in the end settled for lunch. The food is well worth it, service is great, you can see that the regulars have a great relationship with the wait staff. Nettle gnocchi was the favourite but all of it was amazing and recommended!

Authentic Italian food - so delicious. We managed to get a lunch reservation on a Wednesday afternoon due to a cancellation. The restaurant was buzzing & one is almost transported to a trattoria in Rome or Milan - Italian was freely spoken as well as accented English. A good indication of the authenticity of the meal to come. Everything was spot on - beef carpaccio, quail, cod & crab pasta. It was an enjoyable experience! Reservations essential.

Had an amazing night catching up with friend couple last night. Started with champagne at their place then straight onto some yummy Italian food from @scopri_carlton 👌🏻🥳🤗 . The venue was packed with people on a Tuesday night … we knew we were in for a great evening of delicious food 🙌🏻🤩 . I can’t remember all the dishes we had but the ones I can remember were: • Kingfish Carpaccio • Seafood Salad • Rabbit Ragu • Pappardelle Pasta with Duck Ragu • Fregola Sarda - Pearl Pasta with mussels, cuttlefish, prawns, tomato, crustacean bisque • Bistecca alla brace - Gippsland pasture fed scotchfillet chargrilled over Mallee root • Tiramisu (for two) but ended up being for one 😅🤣 . All of the food was superb. Stand outs for me were definitely the Rabbit Ragu pasta & the Kingfish! Full of flavour, the rabbit was super tender and the Kingfish was super fresh - an absolute treat to eat

Amazing food and service. Great starters. Being gluten free is usually pretty hard for me to eat out. However, nothing is an issue at Scopri. GF pasta cooked al dente, delicious sauce. Good wine list. Giulia looked after us, amazing service. I'll be back!

One of the best places for Italian food in Melbourne. We got the home delivery box - all the ingredients were super fresh and vacuumed sealed. Everything tasted amazing! It was like we were at a fine dining restaurant, at our own home!! Also their tiramisu is to die for!! Can’t wait to dine in after lockdown!
Melbournelops
Incredible farm to table meal box from Scopri. Everything was fresh, very easy to prepare and packed with flavour. The beef cheeks were out of this world good and the diy cannolis were delicious. Can’t praise them enough. Honestly, amazing value and very, very tasty!

You will never been disappointed of such authentic Italian restaurants. Tiramisu is highly recommended. Definitely worthy a second try.

Absolutely delicious food in a beautiful intimate setting. Incredibly knowledgeable and attentive staff. Will definitely be back next trip to Melbourne...recommend a visit. A la prossima.....xxx Thankyou for a wonderful evening.

Had lunch at Scopri today based on the reccomendations and sadly very dissapointed. The food was well cooked and presented however, have had much better at home. Atmosphere was good but dull, maybe because it was lunchtime... Wait staff were friendly and quick but were let down by how they hung around far too much. It made it feel like they were constantly listening in. So dissapointed!

Amazing. Food Quality and menu options are fantastic, Service is excellent. Keep going back. One of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne. I always recommend it to friends and family. In my top 3.!

I was down from Sydney and Scopri had been recommended. The service was delightful & the food was bliss. I dined alone and couldn't have felt more welcome. Kingfish carpaccio entree then fettuccine with duck ragu and a side of home grown silverbeet - just delicious! Dessert was the Scopri special ice cream & wafers sculpture and it was great! Everything about the experience was lovely - the home baked bread, the staff, the candle light and the atmosphere was buzzing! I hopped back inn the 96 tram and waddled back to my hotel very happy! Grazie!

Scopri we couldn't have been more impressed last night! Your food and service was next level however I must single out the risotto which is as good as any dish I've had in any restaurant anywhere... Risotto is an art form that requires so many quality factors in its creation and when its done right there are few things that compare. We feel lucky to have experienced it.

Absolutely loved this restaurant! A hidden gem! Myself and 3 friends went for a birthday lunch and every single course from starter to dessert, was amazing! We didn't leave a crumb! Also our waiter Georgio was so informative and friendly. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome and if anyone can, request a table in his area. He is just fabulous! Will definitely return when next in Melbourne :) x

Amazing food and experience. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting to try an establishment, that is well worth all the recommendations it receives. Truly Devine

Amazing food, such depth of flavor! Duck Ragu out of this world! Can’t wait to go back.

Had a private wine dinner upstairs-the food was delicious, full of flavours, from the salmon starters through to the amazing goat

Excellent service, best service in Melbourne and great food. Fantastic long lunch.

Such an amazing night had at Scopri!! The food, the serves , everything was just perfect and at a decent price. Totally recommend it to anyone and I have definitely have told all my friends.
Jen Guha
Delicious food and excellent staff! We had the insalata caprese, osso bucco, panzerotti filled with broccoli rabe, the canelone and the chocolate torte. Fantastic place for a special night.

Had dinner with 4 girl friends last night, the service was fantastic and the food was divine. The staff were so attentive and their recommendations were spot on , wait to bring my husband here. Thank you for a great experience. Grazie

The food and service was exceptional. Although the truffle risotto was standout, every other dish was also ! Look forward to going back 🙌

Warm welcome after a lengthy hiatus. Dishes and service absolutely on point and great to see a cherished establishment flourishing.

Amazing Italian food every time we go without fail! Seafood pasta and the spatchcock are my two standout dishes. The service is impeccable and It’s byo.... winning!

Amazing! It was my second time in the restaurant but 6th time to Scopri. We usually book the private room and do the Feed me menu (great value!)<br/>Started with Scallops and calamari followed by Risotto Prawns with pistachio pesto and their famous Agnalotti.<br/>Rolled out as usual. Happy, full and feed.<br/>Service is always top notch and enjoyed with such a nice intimate setting, perfect for a night out with friends or date. <br/>BYO option is great value too. Bring your favourite bottle with you! <br/>

So we are after a genuine Italian food experience, this is a must go restaurant. I come regularly for business dinners and we like bring our wine to pair the food, for which we take turns.

Melbourne excels in Italian food again! Italian owned and run Scopri Restaurant, another of my favourites. Antipasto was superb then King George Whiting, delicate and tasty. The all Italian wait staff are knowledgeable, very polite and attentive. Nothing negative to comment on, all positive! 5 stars and highly recommended! When in Melbourne, you have to try Scopri!
Alessandro Marchese
Had a lovely dinner at Scopri. The waiter was terrific at matching our byo wines with our menu of Oysters, Beef Carpaccio, Calamari, Scallops, Agnolotti and Ribeye. Impeccable food combined with superb service. No question we will be back again, as Scopri is a gem in the Melbourne / Italian restaurant scene. Absolutely faultless except for the fact that the night passed too quickly.

Most disappointingly sad meal<br/>Like most people we found this restaurant through the many rave reviews and were excited to visit and as foodies enjoy every second.<br/>Firstly the food; zucchini flowers were tasteless apart from the strong olive oil, not sure what the orange sauce flavour should have been but it was missing.<br/>Then the Calamari that was average and entirely forgettable.<br/>The star; the Oysters that were delicious but served with an astringent and inedible vinegrette and shallot dressing.<br/>The Flounder that was very tasty and beautifully presented but which non of the servers offered to plate for us. Bizarre as even the calamari was offered for plating. Not something I was expecting but showed terrible service etiquette.<br/>The Steak perfectly cooked where the server offered to plate for us having explained that it was already sliced to then find the the steak was only sliced once, whereupon she hurriedly ran to get a knife and started hacking.<br/>We ordered a stellar Barolo that was delicious and decanted but the server was determined to minimise his need to serve us so we had one bottle served to us in three hefty lots, which did not do it justice. On top of this every time we were served water a huge splash landed on my sleeve and table place with no comment.<br/>Finally, the service and overall team ambience; obviously there are huge issues between kitchen and service and this is maybe why the manager was busy lurking around every table with a menacing eye on his staff. There was a tangible atmosphere where even we were reluctant to be honest about our experience. <br/>What’s sad is that this could have been so great but the horrible service the bland food and the general chaos between staff means we won’t go back and that’s the best way we can vote, is with our feet. So many better places to go in Melbourne, unless you’re very local, don’t bother.

Great little italian restaurant will be back. food was incredible
Dan M
Amazing food and service was impeccable. We don't normally tip but left $15 for the man serving us as he was so friendly, professional, and sung happy birthday to my girlfriend. I can't wait to go back.
Frances Mona
Such a special dining experience <br/>The service here is so professional, attentive, knowledgeable and warm it’s really what makes it. <br/>The food is also very good. We can’t wait to go back and especially loved Patrick. We recommend the king George whiting and cannelloni in particular and I’m sure there will be other standouts as we get to experience the rest of the menu
Chris Shearer
My wife and I dined here last night<br/>We had a really great night! Food was great but the service was what made it really special <br/>We ordered the octopus entree and beef carpaccio, stracciatella pasta with fish, and King George whiting mains ((this was the standout) with silver beet sides and the cannelloni dessert which was delicious. All wines were lovely and the staff were so knowledgeable with all their recommendations. We can’t wait to go back. We especially loved Patrick who made us feel at home.

We have returned to Scopri and  dined there twice this month, and found  it even better than when we last dined there. Outstanding  select menu and highly skilled friendly wait-staff. Brilliant

best tiramisu ever tasted❤️<br/>friendly staff and great service<br/>good place to go with your best friends and family<br/>love the tiramisu and the calamari

Carlton stand alone restaurant, off the beaten track, in Nicholson Street.  Convenient access with plenty of 2 hour street parking.  We were warmly welcomed by what seemed like an abundance of hosts and waitering staff.  Service was prompt and we seemed to get our first courses quite quickly considering that the place was full at Friday lunch.  Service and food were outstanding.  For starters we had Fettuccine with Duck Ragu, Deboned Roasted Gippsland Quail, Calamari and Chargrilled Octopus Salad.  Our mains were Western Plains Crumbed Pork Cutlet, Kid Goat Cooked on the Bone, Whole Butterflyed King George Whiting and Tortelloni filled with Snapper and Prawns.  We had sides of Hand Cut Chips, and Sauteed Silverbeet with Parmesan.  All the food was well presented and delicious

Italian food that never disappoints. Lots of regulars at this restaurant for great reason. Delicious food including truffle risotto, quail and pasta with burnt butter. Simple but so well made. Waiting service to match and BYO wine!
Phoenix Gudic
Great service. Amazing food, probably one of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne. Although it is hard to make a reservation. If you don’t mind cosy dining then this is the place for you. Quite pricy too but worth the money.
Srslyfoods
went for the option where you pay $90 to let them feed you, and it was a great experience! Five courses plus dessert, each course plays a great symphony of flavour. Everything was homemade with fresh ingredients.
Megan Kong
Food here is spot on! Everything we ordered was delicious escpecially the special of the day mushroom risotto. And it’s great because they allow byo wine.
Jill
Delicious Italian fare in Melbourne! The service is very attentive and the food came out quickly. We had the quail for entree, it was the best quail I’ve ever tasted! The gnocchi is melt in the mouth, and absolutely to die for. Highly recommend this place.

Great food, everything was cooked so well. But i expected more from reading the reviews. It did not disappoint though. My favourite thing was the scallops & cannoli 😍

The meal began with their home-made bread. It was a country style loaf with white, dense but soft dough in the middle and a thick, strong crust. This was served with green, bitter olive oil, which was the most flavoursome olive oil I have had in a long time. Both the bread and the oil can also be bought to take home.<br/><br/>There are a few vegetarian options on the menu. The ravioli alla norma was

Tasty Italian on the good food side of Carlton. Quail and salumi starters very good as was the squid ink pasta main. Only thing that wasn’t good was silverbeet contorno ... some great flavour packed in it but too heavily salted.
Laura
Very great place to meet your friends and family. The food was excellent and staff was super nice to us. The prawn was fresh with fabulous texture there’s one moment I thought I was taking lobster. Lol

Scopri has been around for a while but this was the first time I was able to get along to try some traditional Italian cuisine. It does not disappoint we opted for the tasting menu and we are so pleased we did.<br/><br/>Utilising fresh produce from their farm near Romsey means they have full control over the end product. The crisp sharp flavours bring you back to the true wholesome flavours of Italy.<br/><br/>The staff are courteous and knowledgeable the wine selections were smack on further adding to the experience making the night a really enjoyable

Rating: 3.5<br/><br/>this place is very squashy, your dishes are served one by one literally because there's no space.<br/>menu is hard to understand, waiters explaining it so fast with a heavy accent didn't help.<br/>not sure if the crowd is different on a weekend, but the night i went, and the night my gf previously went, the crowd is a lot older, so if you're looking for a younger vibe, this place might not be it.<br/><br/>food is nice, service was good, overall a nice experience. however i expected to be wow as their ratings are so high.<br/><br/>also for half the price you can go to Gradi and you get the same quality. (lol ok maybe not half price but it'll be a cheaper)

My favorite restaurant in Australia. I can't image i had the best steak. lamb. pasta in my life in one meal. Everything is perfect from the dishes to the service. More than half year passed i can still remember the feeling of that surprising and beautiful experience with my girlfriend in Scopri.
Ruiyi Guan
This is an Italian restaurant with a very good environment, which is very quiet and warm.  The owner is an Italian gourmet who is humorous and handsome. The service in this restaurant is very nice, the staff have a good attitude and professional skill. My friend and I had  a very wonderful time in it.I strongly recommend the Fried rice with black truffle, cheese scallop  and salads with salmon and tomato! oh,   the traditional pasta with cheese, do not miss it.

This place has to be one of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne, let alone Carlton. The oysters were really fresh, the pasta was extremely unique, never tasted anything quite like it. The duck main was the best duck I’ve tasted at ANY restaurant, kudos to the chef for that. Lastly, the side of roasted potatoes were a great addition to our meal. <br/><br/>Perhaps the best part of the night was how we were treated by our waiter Patrick, he was extremely helpful and even had a great sense of humour to make this a night to remember! My indecisive girlfriend couldn’t make a decision on what cocktail she wanted but knew that something sweet was required, so the bartender came over to customise a drink for her which she loved. Patrick you really made our 2 year anniversary something extremely special thank you!

Excellent Italian food in a cozy setting. The bread was delicious, the pasta dishes were full flavoured and the desserts were top notch. Service was very good also, a great night out.

I was recommended to Scopri by an acquaintance of Italian descent. We were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed by the floor manager and staff. The food was excellent. Special mention goes to the service and kitchen staff. The service staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The kitchen staff went the extra mile to plate up separately for my wife and I when we shared a couple of dishes. We had carpaccio of raw fish, fried calamari, mushroom risotto, king george whiting. For dessert we had pink lady apple and puff pastry tart. We had a wonderful experience and look forward to the next visit in the near future. Another thing- parking is very convenient as Scopri is situated away from the busy Lygon Street eateries.

The best Italian restaurant in Melbourne, hands down. Came here for my Birthday and Patrick our waiter was amazing, he was knowledgeable, kind and charismatic which made the overall experience perfect. The dishes he recommended (especially the steak and the rabbit stuffed ravioli) were great.<br/>100/100 would come back! thanks!
FOOD TRIP
Scopri is a little Italian restaurant that is easy to miss as it is not located in the busy eatery section of Carlton. The atmosphere is very homey and welcoming with very attentive and thoughtful service. Their food is proudly sourced from local and artisan producers. Prices are high and food is decent. Probably wouldn't come back

I had lunch here and it was a memorable experience. The restaurant had friendly staff and owner which made the atmosphere became pleasant. The dishes, which were rabbit stuffed ravioli and creme brĂťlĂŠe, were very delicious. Definitely it is a worth a try if you want to taste a genuine Italian restaurant.

one of my favorite authentic Italian restaurants. the staff and the host were amazing. food was devine. we tried the banquet option and it did not disappoint!
Eating Away Melbourne
A friend recommended this place and I just want to say THANK YOU!<br/><br/>Definitely the best experience we have had this year. As soon as you walked into the door you got warm welcomed by literally all of the wait staff. We made a really last minute booking but they still got us a table which was amazing. <br/><br/>Ordered glasses of Pinot Noir, Scollop, Cured beef, calamari, risotto and the duck pasta. All of the food, ALL of them were absolutely sensational. Like crazily good. I have never been in a restaurant and could not fault any of the dishes. The duck pasta has beautiful flavours and they portion the dish to everyones plate which was so handy. The risotto of the day was my favourite. The truffle flavour was so rich and I thoroughly enjoyed it ($45 is not cheap but oh boy its so worth it). <br/><br/>Ordered dessert after and they were sooooo good! The apple pastry was so fluffy and light, the chocolate fondant one was rich and smooth. I ran out of words but do yourself a favour and try them out! Saw tiramisu on the table next to us and I just regret i ate so much. Will come back to try that!<br/><br/>Service was top top notch! They made you feel so welcomed and constantly checking on your needs. Big thumb up!! Will visit again soon!

This definitely is worth every penny spent. <br/>Service was excellent <br/>We ordered ‘serve your table’ option<br/>It’s now $85pp <br/>Started with bread and olive oil <br/>Each of the portion below wasn’t big but overall it’s more than enough. <br/>They have fish w orange. This place emphasize the original flavor of the food and have the orange to balance it out. <br/>Squid w vege. It was really chewy and nice. <br/>Prosciutto w cous cous and vege. The prosciutto was totally top notch and it’s from wagyu beef. <br/>Then followed by mushroom risotto, which emphasize the original flavor of the mushroom. <br/>They then have gnocchi w lamb ragù. The gnocchi was home made and lamb ragù was delicious <br/>I am not a lamb fan but this is super.<br/>Main course was osso bucco w polenta. <br/>This one is THE top of all. Totally super amazingly delicious. Osso bucco was melt in your mouth style and they serve plenty of vege on the side. Polenta was soft and delicious. <br/>Dessert was panna cotta w rhubarb and churro. <br/>Love that they put some edible glitter on the panna cotta and rhubarb was fresh home made. <br/>This place is totally worth every penny spent! Had a great night. <br/>

Exquisite dining experience. The service was fantastic and the food was even better. I had the deboned spatchcock which was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We concluded with the cheese platter which featured a soft, medium and hard cheese. The wine recommended was perfectly paired with the meal.
Gina Yin
Great service with quite traditional decor <br/>Very reasonable price with lots of food options, some of them even from their own organic farm<br/>Will definitely come back next time

Went here for an anniversary.. for context we were probably one of the younger diners that evening (with the exception of adult kids with their parents) and I noticed that service for bigger/older groups was much friendlier and nicer .. food was okay.. honestly didn’t enjoy it and we stayed less than an hour and couldn’t wait to go home

This restaurant came so highly recommended and I wanted to love it! Unfortunately I was sorely disappointed. Poor service let this place down for us as our waiter was incredibly cold and disinterested. Perhaps he was having an off day but I don’t think I’ve ever heard a more apathetic “how was your meal” in my life! Negativity is contagious and it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. We decided to go elsewhere for dessert for this reason and it was such a breath of fresh air to actually get a SMILE and good service from our waiter there. <br/><br/>Food wise, we started with a dozen oysters and I found myself crunching on shell fragments which was disappointing. Our entrees (scallops & kingfish carpaccio) were amazing and well balanced and we were so excited for our mains! Unfortunately we waited more than 45 minutes for our mains after finishing our entrees which I don’t think is acceptable. I had the gnocchi in lamb ragu - gnocchi was beautifully pillowy and soft but the lamb ragu I felt lacked depth of flavour and was quite forgettable. My partner had a seafood pasta special which was over salted. Won’t be back.

Came for special occasion and it was awesome. Staff provided recommendations but we choose the “let us feed you” option. 88 pp kinda expensive but the food were lovely, personal favourite are mushroom risotto and calamari. It is good for special occasions I guess, but expensive for regular dining (at lease for me)
Marc C
What a wonderful Italian eatery, I cannot believe it took me this long to find it.  Friday night was my second visit in 3 months.   We chose the feed-me option which was outstanding.   My absolute favorite is the agnolotti in burnt butter as well at the Capretto Rustico (Goat) which was amazing.   Fantastic dining experience.   I will be back again

The moment we walked through the doors of Scopri to the time we left, we experienced the epitome of flawless customer service. Staff provided wonderful suggestions for sharing dishes, they joked with us and efficiently and unobtrusively topped up water and wine glasses. And the food! ... The food was superb. It was a memorable dinner for all the right reasons. I cannot recommend Scopri highly enough.
Vegetarian Food Lover
This is definitely one of the best Italian restaurant in Melbourne. We ordered:<br/>1. Insalata Capresa (delicious but $22 for 3 pieces I think is expensive) <br/>2. Risotto (made to perfection)<br/>3. Panzerotti Di Cime (loved the sauce) <br/>4. Handpicked mixed salad <br/>5. Roasted beetroot & ricotta salad <br/>6. Pan fried potatoes <br/>7. Dark chocolate torte <br/>We were also given complimentary home made bread which tasted amazing, the filling was fluffy & crust crispy. Service was very attentive, fast & friendly. Water was constantly refilled & mains were separated for us as we were sharing (so thoughtful!). I can not fault this restaurant. Highly recommend coming here for a special occasion.
Foodaholic103
Such a good dining experience with wonderful Italian food that basically bursts in your mouth after every bite, with the setting being wonderful and hospitality was also great but the food was top level I highly suggest Scopri to anyone who is looking for a very important meal or occasional meal.

Always fully booked at night, came here for lunch instead. 5 star for the foods, 5 star for the customer service... we ordered 5 main dishes all was Yummy! Worth to try. Definitely will come again

Beautiful Italian restaurant. Locally farmed produced, well cooked, served with warmth and pride. Amazing house made pasta, perfectly cooked fish, tasty tender kid, top notch tiramisu, wide selection of Italian alcohol and lovely Italian wait staff leaves one with such complete fine experience.
Petit Gastounet
Had a lovely evening here with two close friends. Our waiter Patrick was delightful, very helpful & accommodating. The ambience was buzzing, full of happy diners. They should be happy - the food is exceptional. Not outrageously priced either. During our Prosecco aperitif, a gorgeous house made sour-dough bread arrived. The crust was thin but delightfully crunchy, the middle fluffy and dense at the same time. With some house virgin olive oil for dunking and I would have been blissfully happy with just a whole loaf for my dinner...<br/>We decided to share entrees between the three of us. We chose the duck-filled Tortellini, polenta coated fried calamari & semolina gnocchi with lamb ragu. The tortellini were plump & moist, the pasta silky & smooth then doused in a divine mushroom sauce. I wanted to lick the bowl clean but retained some measure of decorum...Calamari was lightly dusted and well cooked - nice & tender - resting on some salad greens. A squeeze of lemon and it was delicious & satisfying. Due to bad experiences previously at other restaurants, I usually avoid gnocchi. These little soft, moist pillows of semolina were bathed in a gloriously rich & tasty <br/>lamb ragu sauce. For my main I chose 'Coniglio in agrodolce' a Sicilian 'sweet & sour' rabbit stew. My plate arrived and it was laden with mounds of beautifully cooked tender rabbit pieces served with a light sauce of vegetables, currants & Sicilian green olives. It wasn't very sweet or sour, which pleased me but it was hearty & satisfying and totally moreish. The waitress laughed as she picked up my near clean plate and I told her I hated the dish but I needed another serve just to make sure. A bowl of home-grown steamed Swiss Chard topped with lemon juice & olive oil was a beautiful accompaniment for all three mains.  All the servings were generous, well executed and beautiful tasting. I wanted to pass on dessert but was gently cajoled by our waiter to try the cannolo. I am glad I did. An upright tube of crisp wafer stuffed with coffee gelato, ricotta and zabaglione with a light coffee cream sauce. To die for. Love this place but unfortunately for my waist line, I can see it being a firm favourite.

What a beautiful person Patrick our suburb waiter was. Service here is second to none. This wonderful encounter perfectly complimented the atmosphere of Scopri, and, of course...the amazing dishes. Pasta is to die for, entrĂŠes a delight and slow cooked meats falling off the bone as they should. Just WOW. We will be regulars for sure.

Had Lunch with two friends here. The tuna tartare was sensational. It was soft and tangy. He bread was really soft and delicious and I had a whole fish butterflied cooked to perfection and then with some garnishes and crumbs. It was awesome and will come back again.

Don’t hand out 5 after one visit often but this place was amazing! Had a set menu in the private dining room so got to try a lot! Everything so fresh and tasty, special mention to caprese, kingfish, agnolotti in butter/sage and fish of the day. Service spot on as well. Do yourself a favor and eat here!

Finally tried this good rep Italian restaurant and experienced why this is one of the best in Melbourne! Definitely one of the best homemade pasta in Melbourne with very good Italian wine recommendations. Warm services, good food, affordable price plus cozy dining settings all contributed to this very high rating . Would love to come again for a yummy pasta and a nice glass! Cheers !

My 3 Key Pointers <br/>* House-made pasta was mouthwatering.<br/>* They are on fire in the Kitchen and burning out the flames on the floor, fantastic food and service. <br/>* So much food, leave room for dessert.<br/><br/>If you love Italian food and have not tried Scopri you must book now. The menu is ITALY. We were invited for the 40th Birthday and were lucky enough to experience a 7-course degustation. Sampling small portions of the head chefs signature dishes was an absolute dream. The philosophy of simplicity yet amazingly tasty, freshly prepared plates of Love is what we had. The menu reflected what’s in season and the produce was a talking point for us all. If you can’t do 7 courses you must try the air-dried Wagyu, if you love gnocchi and lamb Ragu then this combination will make you come back as soon as possible. My pick for dessert Cannolo with coffee gelato and sweetened buffalo ricotta, make a book and print this recipe, please. The friendly welcoming vibe was great. We had the private dining room. The white tablecloths make for a less casual experience and dim lighting making this place ideal for any dinner date or celebration. How many good restaurants in Melbourne are a BYO if you have an amazing drop this is the place to bring it. Scorpi gave us plenty to discover and love about Italian food and dining.

This place is the best. One of my favourite dining experiences in my whole life. The food was next level, and the service was incredible. Our waiter Patrick was the kindest human being, I’ve never felt so well looked after. Can’t wait to come again.

Beautiful authentic Italian restaurant! Amazing customer service. Great atmosphere. Food was so delicious that I forgot to take more photos before eating other dishes. Great drink menu to match food. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.

Speechless! The best dining experience we have had in Melbourne. Had always heard about this place and so happy we finally went. The food is outstanding!!! We are still talking about it. Cannot rate it highly enough. Patrick our waiter was fantastic so knowledgable. Cannot wait to return.
Birdman
Without question one of my top 5 dining experiences I’ve ever had. Had very high expectations from friends that had been there many times and also the fact its rated number 1 out of 3,000+ restaurants on tripadvisor but somehow it managed to exceed them in spades. We had the most amazing waiter in Patrick... don’t let the name fool you he is as Italian as they come and a true gentleman and professional in every sense of the word. The food is absolutely to die for, not only is the menu amazing but a great array of specials makes the decisions nearing impossible. Highlights were the kingfish, rabbit agnolotti with burnt butter and sage and the gnocchi with lamb ragu. In saying that though every single bite including the self saucing chocolate desert with vanilla bean ice cream was stunning. I can’t recommend this place enough, so good that we booked again for 14 people in a couple months time.
Vivian
OH MY GOD THE TRUFFLE RISOTTO! It was my absolute favorite dish from here and I constantly find myself raving about it . The rest of the food here was also exquisite and cooked with incredible flavors. One of the top Italian places in Melbourne no doubt ( but for a special occasion as it is expensive (BUT WORTH EVERY PENNY) )
Picky ''C''
Amazing Italian food, polenta so creamy , ribeye cooked to perfection.<br/>Great night all round even if our waiter was alittle to high strung..

They say when you take your last breathes you have flashes of your most cherished life moments, Scopri will be one of the moments. My anticipation was building up from the moment I was reading reviews on Zomato and when I could book for atleast 2 weeks away, my anticipation and expectations got to levels that I thought could never be met. I was wrong, Scopri is everything and more that you can expect.<br/><br/>The setup is everything that you could want for a dining experience, elegant & simple with natural lighting that does something to your senses.<br/><br/>The Service is straight up the best that I've ever experienced. Our server was almost better than the main dish, it felt like my favourite uncle was serving us and wanted the absolute best for us.<br/><br/>Me & partner decided to go with the "Feed me" mostly because couldn't decide what we wanted on this extraordinary menu. The food was hands down the best I have ever had in the 26 years of my existence. Every dish that was brought to us was like your favourite Christmas gift, unexpected yet everything you could ask for. All in all, as a stranger that you'll never meet, I want you to go experience Scopri because Scopri is an experience that will leave you amazed and bring new light to your life. Scopri you get 5 stars from me!<br/><br/>

Really enjoyed the lamb gnocchi and spatchcock here! Don't miss the scallops as well! Very good and attentive service, and a good selection of wines. I also think it's great that they have so much produce from their very own farm! Wish I had room for dessert but I'm definitely getting the Dark Chocolate Torte the next time round cause that sounds amazing!

Delicious, unpretentious Italian food in a classic restaurant setting. Went here with my partner and we really enjoyed our meal. We shared broccoli pasta as a starter, duck two-ways as a main with some silverbeet and a chocolate cake/panna cotta for a dessert. We were so super full in the end and the food was delicious. Wine was great and the service caring and helpful. The place also had an extensive list of specials, especially fresh seafood. I liked how unpretentious the restaurant itself was - no concrete walls and exposed sealing even though the place is in the trendy Fitzroy spot - just classic, clean and traditional. Overall - would love to come back!

Came here for ur anniversary dinner. After seeing so many good reviews and with it being number 1 on trip advisor we had high expectations.<br/><br/>What can I say... the night was perfect!!! The service was outstanding, the wine and the food! Usually with feed me options they don’t tell you what you get however our waiter let us pick our own options!! We were so full at the end. The highlight was the calamari and the pasta!!! <br/><br/>Well deserved number 1 trip advisor spot!

This is a lovely restaurant which ticks a lot of boxes. I’d been eager to come here for about three years as I watched it race up the ratings list to number one. We chose to come here for a special celebration and were glad we came.<br/><br/>We had to book well in advance such is Scopri’s popularity. The booking was handled with very impressive efficiency with both emails and phone calls exchanged. <br/><br/>Ours was a party of 10 for a special occasion. Parties of that size must have the banquet at $85 a head. The restaurant handled the special food requirements of two of our party superbly. They were identified immediately we arrived and their special meals arranged speedily and without fuss. These meals looked as good sometimes better than the usual banquet dishes, one whiting dish in particular. <br/><br/>I opted to bring our own wine. Restaurant markups on wine can be punishing as we know. A corkage charge of $15 is very reasonable for a good restaurant and allows you to bring some special bottles of wine without risking bankruptcy. Full marks to Scopri for offering this option.<br/><br/>There are some lovely dishes in the banquet. The highlight dishes for me were the kingfish, gnocchi, calamari, risotto, spatchcock and the panna cotta to finish. These were all lovely dishes with probably the risotto coming out as top dish. It was beautifully cooked and richly flavoured. The only failure dish for me was some steak. I was kindly given two pieces as birthday boy but both were tasty but quite chewy. Curiously, everyone else loved the dish and no one else has anything other than very tender meat so it looks as if I was just unlucky as sometimes happens. There is no shortage of food on the banquet. There is ample for everyone and I felt nicely full at the end of the night. <br/><br/>A couple of other comments. The venue was quite a bit noisier than I expected. I need to say that our server was exceptional. I failed to obtain her name but she is a young woman from north west Italy near the French border. We all commented on how amazing she was, quite possibly the best server I’ve ever encountered. She greeted us as soon as we entered and received our wine very professionally. She marshalled the serving of whites and reds superbly throughout the night. In addition, whacko as it sounds, every time I thought I needed a top up on my wine or water she’d be at my shoulder offering a top up. It was uncanny. It was like she was reading my mind. I’ve never encountered anything quite like it. It was an example of her high level of professionalism that she could anticipate people’s desires so accurately. In addition, of course, she was polite and affable throughout.<br/><br/>This is a very fine restaurant. It is professional and well run. The food is very nice and the service exceptional. I’d give it a 4.2 although others on the night would have given a higher score. I would happily return for a future special occasion.

Excellent dinner with my uncle and my parents. Staff are really friendly and service is brilliant. Help us order slow cooked goat and two fish one beef for main courses. He suggested that if you are not very hungry. You do not need to order $85 7 courses meal which is great. The sweet wine is very nice and i ordered one martini with vodka and lemon. Hope next time, i can try the 7 courses menu.

I've been scoping out Scorpi for sometime and was excited to have opportunity to try it recently. The only issue we had was, we wanted to try everything on the menus. Luckily, our waiter Patrich was amazing, ever so passionate about the food and providing great recommendations that provided us with an journey through 4 courses. Highly recommend for a special occasion for great service and food!
Aaron Carey
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Scopri. Particular highlights were the Fregola and Fettuccini Duck (also highly recommend the Truffle Risotto). Service was excellent, our server Patrick was particularly knowledgeable and provided great recommendations. A very nice atmosphere. Strongly recommend eating here.

Had a voucher for this joint, heard it was good but don't usually go for Italian much so was looking forward to trying it. Quite a small place, real family atmosphere immediately when you walk in the door.  Our waiter was super friendly and chatty. Usually this would annoy me but this guy was a champion, I would have been happy for him to join us. So service = top notch. Food...had the brains, duck and pasta, fantastic delicate flavours and dessert was LEGIT. One of the best dining experiences you will have in Melbourne.

Scorpi is the real deal. Authentic top end Italian food. The pasta was so rich and the meat melted In your mouth. The steak was cooked to perfection. And the quail has the most amazing sauce that just makes you want to lick the plate clean. Great variety, good service, good wine list and nice vibe in the restaurant.

We took my Italian inlaws here for mother in laws birthday. <br/>All the dishes were very good. My rabbit ragu was full of flavour and delicious. Kingfish capaccio was so simple, delicate and lovely to eat. My husband had delicious agnolotti and spatchcock. Servings are generous. Staff are attentive and very pleasant. The only disappointment was my choc desert which I believe should have been like a fondant or lava cake but it was cooked right through.
Arnie Vijayakumar
Had a degustation for a function. All the food was top notch. The steak was probably the best I've had. The gnocchi with lamb ragu was amazing also.

One of the best restaurants in Melbourne. From the service, to the quality of food, we had a fantastic experience and all of the staff there should be immensely proud of themselves. We really enjoyed ourselves, thank you.
MrMena
Wow! Absolutely delicious, the taste in every dish was unique and full of flavor. A must try for any Melbourne food lover. I'll be back very soon!

my favourite restaurant in melbourne! the food is just amazing, the service is impeccable, and the staff very friendly. A little piece of italy in Australia! still wondering why this restaurant doesn't have 3 hats....

As I eat out in Melbourne multiple times a week, I’m still wondering how it has taken me so long to discover this venue. But, I do believe it is one of Melbourne’s best kept secrets amongst the locals. Scopri ticks all the boxes for me. The service is exceptional, and includes a very detailed and enthusiastic run-down of the evenings additional menu items. We went on a Wednesday evening, and the restaurant was buzzing. We ordered a bottle of wine to share, that was reasonably priced. We shared the calamari (yum!), I got the braised rabbit, which was a very decent portion and was so perfectly cooked. I'm still thinking about it. My partner got the rib-eye special, which he also thoroughly enjoyed, and we shared a tiramisu at the end. Possibly my favourite tiramisu in Melbourne. Big call! Scopri is most certainly a restaurant we will be returning to on a regular basis.

O M G.... Yum yum & yum. <br/><br/>We tried the feed me menu for lunch today and were blown away. The food is remarkable and service to match. <br/><br/>Now on my top 5 favourite restaurants in Melbourne.

I ordered the vegan gnocchi with tomato sauce and basil, which wasn't on the menu but the staff are VERY accomodating. My dad and sister ordered the cheesy risotto and scallops, and we had the vegetables to share. The portion size was really satisfying, and the gnocchi was so soft. The sauce was so authentic and didn't taste like just pure tomatoes. They gave us bread baskets and breadstcks as starters and LET ME JUST SAY THE BREAD IS SO DAMN GOOD, EVEN IF ITS A BIT ON THE COLD SIDE ITS SOME OF THE BEST BREAD IVE HAD.the crust is so crispy but the inside is very soft. The breadstIcks were so addicting and salty it was AMAZING<br/><br/>and I wanted to promote all the staff to manager of this place because the staff were so attentive and kind. One of the waiters explained all the dishes and how they could make it vegan. They refilled the bread baskets/ water when they noticed it ran out and they asked how everything was at the end. The staff is just magnificent and made the entire experience in my opinion !!!!

authentic food and great service  <br/>one of the best Italian restaurants in Melbourne without all the pretensions.<br/> but its getting  harder and harder to get into<br/><br/> I have had several experiences  of group meals of 10-12 and everyone has loved the variety and interaction of food wine and service.<br/>the beef  is mouthwatering and the pasta is always rich and finely flavoured .<br/><br/>you wont be disappointed and if you have a special bottle to drink its BYO that shows they care about their customers today

Absolutely delicious. My new favourite place in Melbourne. I can't understand why this place doesn't have a hat. Outstanding service, impecable food and wine. Well done we will be back very soon.
A.B.
The best restaurant in Melbourne! By far the best service, friendly and small place with outstanding pasta and desserts. It's BYO as well, which is another plus.
Susie K
Everything about this place is spot on. Food and service cannot be faulted. The kitchen is very accommodating with any dietary requirements with no fuss made.
Grace Houdini
Absolutely delightful Italian food. High quality ingredients and excellent service. The wine list is also impressive. I always have a wonderful time at Scopri and would recommend it to anyone.
Ragazzo Tricolore
I have been to almost every Italian restaurant in Melbourne (not to mention loads more in Sydney, Italia, NYC, etc!!!). This is one of my all time favs. The food is sensational. Some of the best Italian you will ever try. The wine list is also amazing - but it's also BYO! And you won't find better service anywhere. I love this place. #doyourselfafavour
Gourmet Diner
Brilliant. Great food, exceptional service. I couldn't ask for a better dining experience. Just like bing entertained by family friends. Let them feed you for a set price. Gorgeous! <br/>

Scopri is rapidly becoming a member of that small band of restaurants that form part of the deeply ingrained clique of Melbourne's elite dining psyche; I'm thinking of places such as Attica, Vue de Monde, Flower Drum, and so on. It's not as expensive as any of those places, but it offers a dining experience that is quintessentially Melbourne. It's pretty simple really; you don't become the #1 ranked Melbourne restaurant on TripAdvisor for nothing. The next time I'm hosting an international visitor to our fine city, this is the place I'll be taking them.<br/><br/>Scopri ticks every box, in spades. About the only thing it doesn't have is a sweeping vista to look out on, or a waterfront aspect. Can't have everything, I suppose, and you know what they say about the inverse relationship between views and food quality.<br/><br/>My family and I dined here recently for my wife's birthday. There were five of us. My positive impressions of Scopri started even before we arrived. Their booking and pre-arrival service is the best I've ever experienced. I find it hard to see how anyone could muck up a booking here; they are very thorough.<br/><br/>Scopri is not a big restaurant, but it's beautifully appointed and stylishly laid out. Lighting, tables, cutlery, and all other dining accoutrements are spot on and have been carefully thought through. <br/><br/>The second you walk through the door you are swept up in excellent service. Our waiter was Patrick, and he has legendary status here. His efficiency, charm, and ability to read the mood of the table and react accordingly was testimony to his years of experience and his love of providing a great dining experience. This is a waiter who you end up tipping generously. <br/><br/>How many fine restaurants in Melbourne still offer BYO? Scopri does. Yes, there is corkage, and so there should be. I thought it was perfectly reasonable. We took four bottles of excellent wine, which were treated well by the staff, including decantering the 2009 high country red. Some of us are old enough to remember the glory days of Melbourne BYOs where just about everywhere allowed you to bring whatever you wanted, with little or no corkage. Sadly, those days are gone, but I like Scopri's approach; I reckon we saved at least $100 by bringing our own wine, although that didn't stop us from enjoying a cocktail or two, including a head bursting centerbe (70% alcohol) that knocked my head off. <br/><br/>But then there's the food! And what food it is. Flavours, technique, and presentation are all perfect, and--here's a surprise--portion sizes are very generous. I was planning on working my way through an antipasti, a pasta, and a main, but was warned off, and I'm glad I was! The pasta here is probably the best I've eaten. Everything is made in-house, and my gnocchi with lamb ragu was exquisite. I also tried my wife's rabbit agnolloti and would have loved to have been able to share the whole plate with her. My main of stuffed deboned spatchcock is a very tricky dish, but here it was executed perfectly; juicy and flavoursome. Desserts followed--just as good--along with a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday". Oh, and did I mention their amazing house baked sourdough bread? The perfect accompaniment for the delicious sauces from the pasta and mains. <br/><br/>Scopri is purely and simply a great Melbourne dining experience. Long may it reign.
Denii
Food was amazing! <br/>Beautiful harmony of flavours from the separate elements, cooked with impeccable timing. Such great skills!!!<br/>Portion size was too generous for me, preventing me from tasting more dishes. Given the quality of the food here, though, I'll be back to try them all for sure...
Cassandra
This place is divine!<br/><br/>The food is simply beautiful - So much taste and finesse. I love the the focus on seasonal produce. Service is brilliant. <br/><br/>I highly recommend the "Let Us Feed You" option. Such a reasonable price for the quantity & quality of the food. I also enjoyed the element of surprise, not knowing what would come out next.<br/><br/>You can also take home some of the fresh bread and olive oil which is the icing on the cake.<br/><br/>Love Scopri and will be back again for sure!
Robbie
Have been here before so when I knew I was coming to Melbourne from Sydney I booked Scopri  immediately. It is just that damn good.<br/>The setting, the ambience, the service, the drinks, the glassware!, but most of all the food! <br/>So tasty and generous without being too rich. Each dish immaculate. Cannot fault a thing.<br/>This is my favourite place to eat. Hands down.
James
Awesome meal. Superb Italian prepared with top quality local produce.<br/><br/>Good wine list, nice balance between local and Italian wines. We stayed Italian, and enjoyed all our choices ( Pinot Grigio and a Nebbiolo). <br/><br/>Food is why you come here. Kingfish carpaccio was a highlight of the entrees; I had goat for main, fantastic; steak was good; as were all the pasta dishes. <br/><br/>Service is great. We will be back.
Picc
Just had a great lunch with friends. We shared all the entrees and they were amazing... the bread is to die for! Had the rib eye for main & it was cooked to perfection. Service was also awesome.
Kate Bolton
Beautiful menu, lovely setting and excellent service. This hidden gem is definitely worth a visit. Our waiter was very helpful with how to choose portion size etc the wine was delish and each course tasted like it was made with love. Only downside was lack of vegetarian choice.
Darkeaglefeather
A hidden gem tucked away in Carlton has Italian peasant food with class from the greeting at the door to the servers at the table delivering meals with speedy service . Seasonal menu changes since we dined there last . We will be back
Foodie By Night
Amazing Tortelli..... melts in your mouth! Bread was so fresh and soft too! Agnolotti was so simple but the flavours were brilliant! Will look forward to our next visit! We will definitely be back!

Visited Scopri for lunch. Started with the angel hair pasta with prawns, an absolutely stunning dish, beautifully presented. This followed by the King George whiting, simply cooked and served just with rocket salad. Probably the best fish filet ever tasted, perfectly cooked and presented. I had been waiting a long time for the opportunity to eat here. It did not disappoint!
BD
great food, attentive service and not too uptight atmosphere. Food is high quality and great selections to suit all types of eaters. my favourite Italian restaurant!

We live very close and have wanted to try Scopri for a long time. We came for dinner tonight and my only regret is that we did not come sooner. I could not fault anything. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. It has such a good vibe and is so warm and cosy. Do yourself a favor and order the Cannoli for desert, and do not share because it is so good you will be disappointed you did not order two.
Tony
beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.<br/>a booking is definitely recommended although I have managed to get a seat without booking once (right on the dot at 6pm).<br/>the raw fish carpaccio is delicious, as is the roasted quail. <br/>enjoyed the tortelli and the agnolotti, then shared the kid goat on the bone, and the utterly delicious spatchcock.<br/>definitely worth a visit, definitely worth multiple return visits.

My new favorite restaurant in town. We celebrated a special occasion here and every single aspect of the evening was 10/10. <br/><br/>The service: amazing, with our waiter so friendly and knowledgeable I would've been happy for him to join our party. 10.<br/><br/>The food: absolutely top shelf; I chose truffle risotto for entrĂŠe with generous amount of truffle shaved over the top. It brought me back to my truffle-dish adventures in Tuscany and Umbria. My main was the ribeye which was cooked so perfect it melted in my mouth. I tried (finished off) my partner's kid goat dish and it was stunning. Loved the baccala and calamari starters also. 10.<br/><br/>The venue. Simple, elegant, and despite being fill it wasn't overly noisy like some restaurants. We had the table on the left before the stairs. 10.<br/><br/>It gets better, Scopri is BYO. Which means we could bring some our favorite top shelf Italian reds to celebrate and pair with this beautiful meal. This is another 10!<br/><br/>This is now the pinnacle for me for Italian fine dining. <br/><br/>

I finally got to try Scopri on Saturday night.<br/>One of my girlfriends and her family go there very regularly and is a family favourite so I could not wait to try it. <br/>Safe to say, I was not disappointed.<br/><br/>For entree I ordered the scallops with parsnip purĂŠe, they were incredibly fresh and probably one of the best scallop dishes I have had.<br/><br/>For main a girlfriend and myself shared the ribeye steak, which is served with salad and chips ( one of my favourite meals). Cooked perfectly (rare) I ate it in record speeds.<br/><br/>We were all too full that we didn't order dessert but there was defiantly a few options I want to try.<br/><br/>Overall, beautiful place, friendly staff and delicious food.

Came in without a booking on a Tuesday night at about 6pm. We got a nice table right by the street window, however, I think a booking is definitely recommended as the phone was ringing off the hook the entire night and we overheard the worker saying there were no more tables available for a number of nights for the next week! <br/><br/>Our waiter explained the specials to us and there were so many we couldn't remember them all except for one dish that sounded amazing; truffle risotto with fresh truffles shaved on top at the table ($36). On their original menu there is a porcini risotto ($21) which I also had my eye on.. So I asked if we could order the porcini risotto but with fresh truffles shaved on top. We ordered the entree size for this dish to share between the two of us, and the waiter said it would cost $36 (so $15 extra for truffle on top), which I felt was expensive. However, when the dish came out, the chef had separated the meal on to two plates to make it easier for us to eat and we were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions! Oh my lord it was the most amazing risotto I have ever tasted!!!! I would definitely recommend this dish to anyone who visits Scopri. <br/><br/>For mains we ordered the Veal Osso Bucco with polenta and the Oxtail Ragu Gnocchi. The Osso Bucco was falling off the bone and the polenta was light, fluffy, and buttery smooth (a bit pricey for the amount of meat though). The Gnocchi was nice too, but didn't have as much flavour as the Osso Bucco and the Gnocchi wasn't the fluffiest I've had. <br/><br/>Overall, the restaurant has a great atmosphere, food, and service!
Fi The Foodie
This was our first visit to Scopri and we loved it. The service made us feel like VIP guests, holding the doors, taking our coats, constantly topping up water, going through menu choices with us and just having a chat. Then the food was superb. We had scallops with parsnip puree for entree, which were pretty special, then both chose pastas for main. My handcut pasta was silky with a  rich rabbit sauce and my husband's veal and pork agnelloti was fresh and decedant in butter and sage. For dessert we had both a creme brulee which came with a nice treat of handmade florentines on the side, and a coffee gelato filled cannollo with zabaglione and hazelnuts. <br/><br/>The icing on the cake was that we were able to BYO, we had a special 20 year old bottle of red that we needed an equally special meal to go with it. Scopri didn't disappoint. We'll be back.
Emily
Great food, great service, great night :) <br/><br/>We ordered squid ink linguine and Kid goat. Then a shrimp dish. Everything we ordered arrived within 10minutes, and tasted great! In general, it was very good. <br/>The goat was tender but only thing is perhaps a little less salt next time? <br/>As for linguine, it was nice and advertised with seafoods, but it was mostly pasta. Didn't get much seafood or anything. But flavour was good <br/><br/>And we ordered salad with dressing on side, only $9, but literally all we got was leaves. Nothing else.. A bit plain for a salad? We expected cucumber, tomato, nuts, or something to go with it but it was literally leaves straight from supermarket.. For this Occassion, it was ok, as everything else had flavour and I wanted something light but that's a bit plain? <br/>

Amazing food! this is our special occasion go to restaurant and for good reason. We always find something delicious to eat and the customer service is great.
Iris Myandowski
This is Italian done perfectly right. Italian food isn't usually my thing, mostly because of so many average examples that you stumble upon. No one could be disappointed with a meal here, both food and service. Disclaimer: the food is a few million times better than my photos would suggest. The atmospheric candlelight doesn't make for award winning instagram documentation.
TT
Warm atmosphere with every friendly & attentive service. Standing out to me was the eye fillet that was cooked to perfection. I didn't really like enjoy the flavour/smell of the sardine entree and the goat, but I guess that was just me as other people on the table did.
Emptym62
Once again a wonderful meal at Scopri The food is reliably excellent, the service friendly and professional and, for what you get, it's very reasonably priced. And, a BYO option for a special bottle of wine is very welcome. We'll be back.
GaryZ
Been here in May 2015 served by someone called Peter to whom I owe a very favorable review. Impeccable service and food - finished on around $200 for 2 people. We tried the full gamut for dinner. Splendid and hope to come back again - this time her treat.
Dottore Vince
Being of Italian background we decided to give this well recommend restaurant a run. Yes the food was very good on the whole. BYO is welcome but $15 per bottle on the pricey side. Service very good and friendly. However the prices of some meals given the style of food would make our relatives embarrassed. The veal osso bucco had very big bones and very little flesh for the price paid. Also the desserts at $16 a head is more in keeping with a two hat restaurant. The low lighting may be designed to masquerade some shortcomings in substance.
Vince C
Fantastic food. Great service<br/> What a gem of a place. Wonderful traditional Italian food with modern twist. I will be bringing lots of friends here. <br/> Will be going back very soon.<br/><br/><br/>

I went here recently for birthday date celebrations. Top marks for being BYO. It made the bill at the end of it affordable. We ordered the Sydney Rock Oysters and Zucchini Flower for entree. The Zucchini flower was out of this world, the lightest, crispiest batter I've ever tasted and the filling was subtle, thus appreciating the fine textures of the flower. For mains we ordered the Pappardelle with Rabit Ragu and the evening special of Squid Ink Linguine with Swimmer Crab. What a taste sensation. Both were very very well balanced dishes, and completely respected the flavour of the delicate meats within. It is so rare that you eat somewhere that actually enhances the flavours of something subtle, rather than cover it up with something else. The pasta was light and airy, like velvet. It is good honest Italian food with excellent service. This place lacks the pretension that many of the nearby restaurants harbour. There are acoustic panels throughout the restaurant, thus enabling you to actually hear what your company is saying. I think we have found our new favourite date spot.
Lindt
Exceptional cuisine and attentive friendly service. Flounder was amazing - beautiful bread, delicious salads and desserts. upstairs function room is apparently great for private groups of 10-14. We'll be back.

Scopri is where you re-discover, or for many today I imagine, discover for the first time just how wonderful it feels to be looked after with a level of care that is uncommon. It is one that comes from the heart, from knowledge and professionalism, with one of the owners always present. Alison's wine list appears to be a personal expression that lacks any pretence. Be guided by her if you have any doubts. The chef Andy Logue cooks some of the very best Italian food and is a chef that puts the customer first. Every time. With floor staff that are not into educating the guest in the condescending way that has crept into some of our dining scene, you are made to feel welcome from the time you are met at the door, made to feel comfortable at the table, cared for as you order and entertained as you relax and eat. Finally when you leave, you feel happy that you have been a special guest at Scopri and not just a customer. <br/>Produce from Alison and Anthony's garden as served without a fuss. The bread warrants a shop on its own. You can buy a loaf and take it away. Do that, and take away the incomparable feeling of people that care for people.
Niki
We've been twice and both times it was fantastic. Friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. These people are passionate about food and it shows. Great that it's BYO, but they have a good selection if wine too.
Brungiel
Fantastic food. Ate the coniglio siciliano (Sicilian rabbit) which brought me back to the cooking of my nonna! Truly authentic Italian cuisine. Service could be a little faster, although slow and enjoyable is the Italian way I guess!
Giovanna Isabella
We came here for a work Christmas function and may I add by this point I was well over the large calorie-laden lunch and dinners, though Scopri was well worth unbuttoning the top of my jeans. Food was amazing , everything was seasoned just right and each course was better than the last. I've had quiet a bit of Italian cuisine and this could easily compete as the best.

My friends from Italy wanted to visit the amazing cultural hub of Melbourne where my partner Patrizio and i have our own business. <br/>I wanted to take them out to our new favourite Italian eatery in Carlton and i wanted to show them an amazing night. My partner Patrizio and i came across this is a fabulous restaurant on one of our first dates and we just found the ambience delightful!<br/>We just love everything Italian!! Lets be honest us Italiani are the best at everything and no other nationality around the world do it as good as us!! <br/>Everyone wishes they were Italian ;) !!<br/>Well how disappointed were we with our night at Scopri!<br/>Our table was near the door, service was so slow, and the waiters couldn't talk Italian to my friends from Italy, and the food, well we've had lot better.<br/>I wanted an amazing Italian experience in Melbourne and i didnt get it!!<br/>Such a shame
Onara
I attended a function here, so I didn't get to look at a menu nor choose any of the things I ate. But I know that everything was truly magnificent

I don't like going to Melbourne's Italian restaurants much. I lived in Italy for almost 8 years and it kind of spoiled me, since I now think that most Melbourne Italian places just don't get it right. Even when the food's good, they often go and ruin it by either adding "attitude" to the service, as if being a performing smartass is something to do with being Italian, or just being plain snooty. A big no thanks to both. <br/><br/>Scopri is the best Italian restaurant I've eaten at in Australia. Not only is the food beautiful (and very Italian tasting), the service is professional and perfect. <br/><br/>We started with zucchini flowers and seafood risotto. Both were wonderful and generous serves. The flavours of the risotto in particular were amazing and perfectly balanced.<br/><br/>For mains we had the capretto rustico and seafood stuffed pasta. Again, we were amazed by both dishes. The kid was beyond melt in your mouth and delicious, while both the pasta and its sauce were mouthwateringly good.<br/><br/>For dessert we shared a raspberry tart. The texture of the crust was superb and the raspberries themselves were phenomenal. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it was the best thing I've ever eaten in my life.  And I'm not even much of a desserts person.<br/><br/>We'll be going back again (and again and again...). Thank you so much everyone at Scopri for a wonderful night out!

Great experience! Don't choose from the menu, just ask the owner to feed you and he will prepare a sequence of amazing home made Italian food. Great quality of the ingredients. BYO for this range was restaurant was also a nice surprise. A must go!

Absolutely a "must return" restaurant! Service was warm and attentive. Food - incredible - Seafood ravioli has never been this tasty in memory. Only regret - should have ordered it in main size. And the quail, rib eye and veal - each blew our minds away. For a pure Italiano experience with top quality food and wine, here is the place to go.

Our new favourite Italian Eatery. This is a fabulous Restaurant...... The perfect combination of amazing food and staff that help make the experience because they clearly enjoy what they do . The menu is great and the wine list extensive. Try the banquet option to get a tantalising sample of what their kitchen can do . A truly great place to spend a night with good friends ....... Bellissimo !

Have been several times and always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. <br/>The food is always excellent and the place has a very pleasant inviting feel about it. <br/>Not too loud and nobody is trying to rush you out the door, perfect for a leisurely meal with friends or an intimate dinner with your partner.

My boyfriend took me to Scopri for my birthday upon the recommendation of a friend. I left with a smile on my face and a tummy full of beautiful food. The food was tasty, cooked perfectly and decently sized. For entrĂŠe we had two zucchini flowers with ricotta, a jamon salad and some oysters. For main I ordered a whole flounder which was cooked just right and melted in my mouth. My boyfriend had the rib eye. He usually has his steak well done but they coooked it medium for him and he said it was great. We shared a desert. Bill was about $160 which is perfectly reasonable for a restaurant meal of that quality. Special mention to our waiter Patrick who knew the whole menu off by heart and was very friendly. Will be back.

A beautiful experience tonight. Food was elegant and delicious! Our waiter Patrick was so friendly and helpful. Loved the Italian atmosphere. I highly recommend the wagyu beef entree and for dessert the Panacotta with rhubarb and lemon. My partner had the quail for entree and the cannoli with coffee gelato for dessert which was also phenomenal!

After a terrible experience on Lygon St earlier in the week, we decided to check Zomato for a highly rated restaurant and came across Scopri. <br/><br/>It did not disappoint! Amazing food, great atmosphere, good wine. What more could you ask for? Loved it. I will be back!

This is my new favourite.. BYO and great pasta and meat dishes ... A classic old style with great service and great season specials... Good private room and an amazing host who seems to remember everyone

This place is the full bottle. <br/>Owners, Allison and Anthony are passionate and knowledgable about their food and wine. And it is reflected in every aspect of the business. Great chef(s), outstanding (Italian style) food, attentive and pleasant staff. <br/>We have been regulars for years and it just keeps getting better. Obviously others think likewise, because we keep seeing them. No doubt in part because Anthony and Allison work the floor along with their staff. <br/>Unfortunately too many are catching onto this, because we now need to book some days ahead. But it's worth it. <br/>Geoff B<br/>

As part of a group of 14 for dinner in the upstairs private dining room on Saturday we were treated like special guests from start to finish.  The staff were wonderful and the food was incredible.  We had a set menu which included smoked cod(?) croquettes which were probably my favourite, carpaccio of raw fish served with orange segments which suprised as it delighted and the air cured wagyu which I sneakily made into a sandwich with the delicious house bread was to die for.  The pastas that followed were all good (fantastic even) as was the meat course after that. Being able to bring our own wine was wonderful with such a large crowd of varying tastes.  I might have snuck in a couple of pre dinner negroni's which were as good as I've had in bars specialising in cocktails. I'm already looking forward to going back.

Sublime food and exemplary service. Truly a wonderful restaurant doing everything well. Wine matching was perfect as was ALL the dishes we tried during a degustation 💖💖

First trip to Scopri and it won't be the last.  From the fresh baked bread through the mains the food and service were excellent.  It is a close to Rome as you will get in Melbourne.

Fantastic service and a wonderful meal. Great value. Lovely ambience and we appreciated the attention to acoustics. Staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We will be back!

From the moment we walked in I have to say wow ! Have been wanting to try this beautiful little Italian Restaurant for a while now and after reading the reviews am so pleased I was able to get a reservation for 3 to celebrate my Grandmas 91st birthday. We were greeted with a warm smile and taken right to our table. Our jackets were taken and hung up, we were offered water and a chance to peruse the wine menu... The choices delightful with a good balance of Australian and Overseas. The menu was to die for ! Only I thought I had chosen until I heard the specials ! We were provided a basket of warm home made bread with some delicious olive oil for dipping ! Our food arrived in a nice timeframe and was the most equisite pasta I have ever eaten. Desert was to die for enjoyed with a lovely desert wine and a beautiful coffee to finish. The staff were wonderful, all so friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable with the beverages and all the food selections. The lovely white table cloths and napkins very much pleased my Grandma. Ambience perfect, not too noisy and very attentive staff.. There is nothing I can fault. This place is a gem and I can see why after reading other reviews. Scopri was one of the most pleasurable dining experiences I have ever had and I cannot wait to bring family and friends to enjoy such a wonderful evening. The food, wine, staff, layout, and ambiance, I cannot fault a thing. Thank you team for such a wonderful evening.

A gem. Authentic. Well priced. Incredibly welcoming.. Lunch for 4 of us. A warm autumn day in Melbourne but the menu transports the soul to Italy. The menu makes it difficult to chose, as there are multiple dishes we'd like to eat. The highlight was a simple Ragu on small macaroni (Macherroncini Al Ferretto). Silken pasta and a heavenly sauce. This followed salmon tartare, quail and oysters. The owner is charming and happy to chat about the food and the way it is cooked. The Ragu is without doubt one of the better dishes I've eaten in the last year, and it's simplicity is part of the attraction. Light on the tomato, incredibly tender and finished with butter. <br/><br/>Scopri offers BYO for a corkage of $15 a bottle which makes it an attractive place to take a special bottle of wine. The wine is well looked after and the Reds we took, all carefully decanted. <br/><br/>Just loved everything about this place. The space is light and cheery and matched our feelings as we left 3 hours after our arrival. I'd return in a heartbeat.<br/><br/>As an aside, the olive oil served with the house made bread (delicious) is Nagambie Gold. It is available to buy here and it is excellent. Fresh, golden green and peppery. Yum.

Perfect! Beautiful food and service outstanding.

CAPRETTO RUSTICO Kid goat cooked on the bone in white wine with potatoes, peas & grated pecorino...
Dining Nirvana
Andrew had the fettucine with the ragu lucano – which is a traditional 3 meat sauce of lamb, pork and veal. The fettucine was beautifully hand made, the perfect thickness – it allowed the meat sauce to sing. I think it was the better of the two dishes – but both of them were so brilliant, it didn’t matter. For main we had braised beef cheek, caramelised onions and potato with parsley mash. The meat was so tender, we didn’t need a knife – it just fell apart with a gentle push of our forks. The sauce was rich and unctuous, and the parsley mash was fantastic.

Stop the presses. I only live around the corner from Scopri and had my first visit there a few months ago with my partner. <br/>A complete hidden gem. Last night i went back for more and yet again i was blown away by the attentive service, authentic Italian flavors (My friend from the northern part of Italy said it was his best Italian meal in Australia thus far) and great ambiance.<br/>I love the fact that you can bring your own bottle and still have a high level of service and food. <br/><br/>Thank you Alison and Anthony, I will spread the word and come back over and over and over again.<br/><br/>Michael

Great place. I have been dining here for some 4 years. Always come back. Food is exceptional as is the service and attention to your needs. Anthony and Alison have raised the bar to some heady heights with the best of Italian food. If you can find a better Italian restaurant tell me.<br/><br/>Very happy
Mario

Exceptional service in an ambient and relaxing location. The food is divine and not as expensive as you think! Everything was cooked to perfection. The chocolate cake is worth going for alone. Will definitely return.
High Expectation
Exceptional all round! Highly recommend the 'feed me' option. We were in heaven last night celebrating our wedding anniversary. Wonderful food, hospitality, wine, ambience - what more can I see. This restaurant is at the top of my favourite list!
Buon Gusto
Esqisito. We have been here several times and the food hs always been devine. The food and wine matching is an excellent way to try several dishes. The pasta is just like back home. The sauces so tasty. <br/>We definitely will be back. No better place in Melbourne.
Philip
A stunning place to dine. I could go on a lot about how good Alison, Anthony and the team are. But go and see for yourself. They know how to look after wine and allow BYO. They know how to handle groups. They know how to make a customer feel special. <br/><br/>Oh, and the food is consistently great. <br/><br/>Just go. <br/><br/>I've had casual lunches, small dinners and larger groups upstairs and downstairs and everything is flawless.
Geoff
Just noticed that I had not provided feedback on my favourite restaurant and I have been going regularly for years!<br/> If you like authentic Itallian with a contemporary flair, just do it! <br/>Young hosts, Allison and Tony, are genuinely passionate about food and wine and are right on top of their game. Excellent ambience and a feel good, unpretentious, but up market venue. <br/>Upper end of middle of the road pricing, but real good value and you can BYO. <br/>Have had some amazing experiences with their special food and wine feature nights. Geoff Birtles<br/>PS Update sept 2016 just gets better!

An Italian lovers dream!. My partner and I dined here last night for the first time and we were VERY impressed. Having just returned from a 3 month trip in Europe and more specifically, Italy, we are always on the hunt for places than can recreate the magic of an authentic Italian meal. Coming from a hospitality background as well means I am always extra picky when it comes to customer service - I must say our dining experience was faultless. We opted for the 'Feed our table menu' of 5 courses, as we were happy to let the kitchen send out whatever was on offer. We were spoilt rotten with amazing meals such as zucchini flowers, quail, kid goat stew and Balmain bug tortellini. Glass of wine to match? No problem! A real foodies delight. Thank you Scopri, we will be back soon!
JAC
Great romantic night out. Took my wife here to celebrate 10 year anniversary and was a perfect evening, great atmosphere, and the food was beautifully done, every dish was delicious. Had the spatchcock and the goat - superb food wine combination (BYO great to be able to bring a special bottle...or 2)
Foodude
Faultless!!!!. Each time we dine here it just gets better! Having up to at least 5 mouth watering specials on selection as well as the current menu, oneself is truly spoilt.for selection. One stand out at Scopri is their waiter Peter who enhances your evening with old school profesional waiting skills and food knowledge. But then, thats what Scopri does and does it so well. The food has every hallmark of regional Italy. "I so advise"

Excellent service, great food. Loved the goat dish & chocolate torte. Divine!

More than just good food. Lovely unassuming location near Alexandria Parade with plenty of off street parking. My friend and I had an enjoyable lunch and since it wasn't that busy we found the staff (and owner) spent alot of time with us without being over the top. This modern Italian eatery serves up some traditional Italian fare and some unusual dishes that also tempted us. We shared the battered zucchini
Iceman
I couldn't say that I disliked Scopri as technically it's faultless, great food n service, beautiful decor, but perhaps Scopri is a tad too precise, almost clinical. Having said that Scopri will be well received by most and comes recommended. Expect to part with around $55 for 2 courses + drinks. Scopri offer BYO wine for $10 pb

I have mixed feelings about Scopri...As soon as I entered the door I was greeted by a smiling waitress - I didn't have to stand in awkward silence..big tick :-) Another friendly waitress took me the table...big tick :-) Food was delicious...big tick :-) However, it broke my 2 cardinal rules...cramped table in the corner...big sob, and $10 corkage...big sob. Can't say I didn't enjoy it, but can't say I will return.

The goat is amazing.

A gem. Down to earth and friendly. Passionate staff and a fantastic balance of flavours in an Italian cultural delight<br/>Won't disappoint
Suzy Wilkes
Disappointed. Booked downstairs for people with disabilities - told days later we must accept booking upstairs - not good enough - not friendly to people with disabilities.
The Professor
PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. This place deserves the high ratings it has to-date. The service staff were attentative without being overbearing, the meals were excellent and the lunchtime specials prices were in keeping with the standard of food served. The decor and atmosphere was also inviting. Highly recommended.
Heartagram_angel
7 of us dined at Scopri and between us we tried a massive chunk of the menu. We could not fault anything. All the meals were cooked perfectly and were tasty and authentic italian. Will definitely go again and will be recommending Scopri to everyone I know!

A taste of Italy in Melbourne. There are thousands of italian restaurants in Melbourne who claim to bring a taste of Italy to our city. However, Italian in Melbourne is pretentious, fake and never authentic.<br/><br/>Finally, an Italian restaurant that made me feel like I was back in Florence, trying a variety of pasta and meat dishes. Every dish we had at Scopri was delicious and full of flavour. If you are looking for a 'real' taste of italy in Melbourne, avoid Carlton and head down to Scopri, where you will be looked after and given a good italian feed.<br/><br/>Grazie, Scopri.
Anderson
Unpretentious Italian. Have eaten here a few times recently. Food is unpretentious, great tasting and good value. My clear choice for Italian in the Fitzroy/Carlton area.
Moose
The food was lovely but the service, while attentive enough, was a little disappointing - a smile and a hint of personality never goes astray. We also felt a little rushed despite the restaurant not being full. Clearing entree plates away before one diner has quite finished is never ok. Reasonably priced. A nice place for a mid-week dinner date but that's about it.
Esilio Benedetti
Good honest food and all but please 3 things. It was a lovely goat dish by the way, just not what i actually wanted<br/><br/>1.Whats with the lights dimming and brightening all night?<br/><br/>2. For Valentines Day when you email a client the menu and then also leave it on the table, please serve whats actually on the menu. An excuse of "it was a mistake on the menu" and "no one else has noticed" and finally the " would you like potatoes" doesnt cut it when you pay this price for what is basically a set menu.<br/><br/>3. If you offer coffee and tea, advise us first that it is not actually included in the price if you expect us to pay for it. It was lucky that i checked my receipt before walking out. I wonder how many "mistakes" that male waiter made.
Silvia
Food fantastico. Great wines too. Service equally fantastico!
Lauren
Highly Recomended!. The food was authentic and absoltely delicious, had a great selection of wine and the service was fantastic - will certainly be recomending Scopri to our family and friends!

Bday dinner. Table for 6. A few ppl had the beef carpaccio but i usually prefer the fish one. Had the clam seafood pasta for main, it remains me of what i had in Italy last time. Dessert was good, impressed with the coffee cup with edible pastry, cheese board was yum. byo wine is always good.

A proper dining experience. Went to dinner last night at Scopri and throughly enjoyed it. If you go out to dine and have an experience, this place is for you.<br/><br/>My partner and I shared two entrees, the scallops and the hare ragu with wholemeal penne, both were very flavoursome in their own way (the scallops being more delicate) however, if I had to mention just one thing, I felt the hare was slightly dry (is this a characteristic of wild rabbit though?), but not so much that it distracted from our overall enjoyment of the dish.<br/><br/>For mains we had the duck and the pot roasted kid goat. Both were outstanding. The goat was not as I expected, more ragu-esque when I was thinking I'd get a roasted piece of meat. We shared the buttered carrots as a side, and whilst delicious, they didn't cut through the richness of my dish the way a salad might have.<br/><br/>We shared the apple crumble dessert, although I could have eaten it all on my own.<br/><br/>We took our own wine and found corkage of $10 to be reasonable. <br/><br/>The welcome was warm and the service was attentive, however I thought it took a little too long to get the menus to us.

If you're a looking for a really Italian experience in terms of fine dining this is the only place in Melbourne to go. Great food and great venue
Bruce
Excellent!. I was looking for a BYO restaurant in Clifton Hill / Fitzroy North / Carlton North area and found this place via a few rating websites. We were booked in at 6.30pm on a Friday and were around the first to arrive but it soon filled up. Upon being greeted with my BYO wine I was asked if I wanted it decanted! I declined as it was a 2009 so probably didnt need it. BYO corkage was $10 (very reasonable). Our food was excellent and the ambience is also excellent - fresh decor - intimate settings - upper class restaurant - reasonably priced (1 x entre + 2 x mains + 1 x desert + 1 x coffee = $120)...service was excellent too...we will be back!

Great restaurant. This is a grown up italian restaurant great food great wine excellent service one of the best in Carlton funny how Nicholson St has three or four of the best eateries in Carlton.
Anne Dangelo
A gourmet experience. Last night we had a beautiful authentic Italian meal<br/>Alison, Anthony, and staff have created a most welcoming and hospitable restaurant<br/>we shared 4 entrees all of which we enjoyed immensely<br/>Quail, the Risotto, Beef salad and the seafood salad all delicious beautifully prepared and presented.<br/>For mains we all chose the Barramundi which had a wonderful crisp skin and then for desserts we again shared 4 wonderful creations.<br/>Great variety, ambience and a wonderful place to enjoy a great night . We all felt like we had travelled to Italy<br/>Highly recommend this place
Diane Rowley
Excellent Italian. Husband and I love the food at Scopri, we ate dinner there last night and it didn't disapoint. For entree I had the Burrata with pickled veg and Hubby had an egg dish with leek and Parmesan sauce, simply delicious. For main course we both had the special of slow braised ox tail with buckwheat polenta, so yummy on a cold winters night. The staff and service is spot on and Anthony and Allison are a great team. Looking forward to returning in June for their special Porchetta dinner, it's a real treat.
Mr Chef
10/10 4me. Absolutely one of melbourne finest Italian restaurants
Sam
What a shame, where is Bruce and what ver happened to him. Have been going to this place for years and it's a shame that it has changed so much, food used to be amazing an now ok, service was to die for and now um not the best. It's such ashe because we used to love this place:(
Anne
Highly reccommended. BYO!!!!!, great service, fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked, super tasty, beautiful atmosphere - perfect date night, and true value for money. Shall be returning ASAP! This place is a local secret.
Melbfoodie
Fresh and authentic. This is well cooked, simple food with quality produce. Couldn't decide on an entree so waiter suggested we try a tasting plate of entrees - what a great idea! Mozzarella, tomato & basil salad; quail with the figs & pancetta and the wagyu beef bresaola were all amazing dishes. So fresh & authentic. I had a Goat ragu. This was simply amazing. The goat was sweet and tender and the ragu was tasty (maybe slightly over seasoned) but very impressive. Beer was cold, glassware was classy, the coffee was great and the service was A1. Plus it's BYO!! Modern interior but had a really nice feel about it. This place is a hidden gem on Nicholson Street and is far to superior to almost all other Italian offerings in the area. I'll be back.
Peter Hillis
Cannot go wrong. Fine food at failry reasonable prices, BYO, great service. The menu is varied and inventive and the presentation stylish but not pretenious. I had the Baccalau as an entree and Snapper main course. My friend bought a bottle of Passing Clouds Two Mates Shiraz (2006) which rounded of an excellent evening of good food and bonhomie!
Chris Pow
Great Italian food. I have eaten here many times both as Scopri and previously as Arrivederci , I think the present ownership has certainly improved the offering with a less cluttered menu and better food . I like the fact that it is byo at a reasonable price $10 per bottle, and they dont look down on you for bringing byo wine.<br/>The service from the staff is excellent and knowledgable.<br/><br/>My favourite dishes are the crumbed veal on the bone, slow cooked pork belly and the goat.<br/><br/>All in all I think the place serves great tradional Italian food at a reasonable cost
Fitzroylocal
Terrific food and service. We have visited Scopri 4 times since discovering it recently. The food is great, service truly outstanding and a lovely atmosphere. They are a BYO that celebrates this dying service. Wine is decanted, glasses changed between wines, and if you need another drop there is a small but excellent wine list. The zucchini flowers are fabulous, we love the quail, the fish is cooked in a local Italian way and is lovely, and the veal is delicious. They have a nice intimate private room for 10-14 people - we have already booked it for a Christmas dinner with friends. Scopri is a great addition to the local restaurant scene.
Sharpomake
A local dinner. A group of friends and I go out to dinner often. In fact, none of us cook very well to warrant cooking at home. Yet though we all live around the Fitzroy/City/Carlton area, Scopri was never really on the radar.<br/><br/>I went in with few expectations, as I had heard mixed reviews. To sum up, I think my friends had a lovely time. Their dishes were wonderful; the fuller, meat-based dishes. The tartar entree was also excellent, though the kingfish was underseasoned. The Scallop entree was a bit of a snoorfest. The rabbit main was a very successful dish, as was their house-made pasta, but the fish was a real dissapointment; overcooked to the point of being almost dry. Sides were lovely. Desserts were nice, but won't blow your mind.<br/><br/>The service, however, was truly terrific. Very friendly, very engaging. Not like going to a city restaurant. It was just chill.<br/><br/>The wine list will inevitably dissapoint those who like a larger and more diverse selection than just local and Italian drops. Next time, we will make fuller advantage of their byo policy. <br/><br/>That's right, next time.
The_d_rock
Worth a try. Nice place. Relatively inexpensive and comfortable. The waiters are very knowledgeable and try to create a relaxed dining experience.<br/>I had bacala croquettes for starter which were nice and mainly fish rather than potato, only negative would be the dryness of the filling. For main I had the seafood pasta which was lovely home made pasta with the usual seafood suspects swimming in a tomato and olive oil sauce. Then a cheese plate to finish - this was really nice with a hard, a soft and a blue with all the accompaniments you could ask for.<br/>The wines were lovely I don't know what we had, but they did match the food - even a sickly sweet one to go with the cheese plate. I probably would have been better off with a cold beer or four.<br/>Next time I will go back for the $35 three course lunch. It has limited options but it all looked like the good stuff.<br/>The restaurant decor feels a little sterile in contrast to the food and service, but I am sure this will be tempered with age. It feels like it could become a really lovely inner suburban regular. There's just too many choices of places to try and go back to.
Robert
Cherob. What a great restaurant. A small, intimate place with a warm feel about it. The staff are very polite and welcoming and the intimate nature of the place made us feel very comfortable. The cuisine is strongly Italian in style (intentionally), with a well priced wine list if needed, however the fact that it is B.Y.O. makes it even more remarkable. Food sizes were quite adequate and arrived perfectly spaced. The regular "table cleaning" was a nice, old style touch. A perfect restaurant to go to with friends or one's partner when a peaceful, intimate eveing is what is required. It's great to see the new, young brigade of restauranters providing such excellent facilities....we loved it.
Epicurus
Discovered!. Where has this little gem been hiding its wares? At last, I've discovered it. Friendly service, fine food in a feel as if you are in Italy ambience. <br/>The first 60 seconds in any establishment can make or break a reputation. We were warmly welcomed and the rest is history. <br/>The insalata caprese followed by the griglia di manzo added to the experience.. No room for dessert unfortunately. A selection of local and Italian wines heightened that experience.<br/>Look forward to returning. (...want to try the dessert!)
Happyhunger
Like the other rave reviews here say - great food and excellent service. Professional without being stuffy or pompous. Could easily spend what you do here somewhere else and get far less for it.
JC
Delicious. This was my second visit to Scopri and it was brilliant again. The service is fantastic. They know if you want to have a chat and don't rush you into ordering. BYO wine is a major plus.<br/>The menu is not overcrowded but offers choices to suit every taste.<br/>This is a restaurant that sets a benchmark of high quality. <br/>Why try new places when you can just come back here and try something else on the menu?<br/>Yum!
Anthony
Very enjoyable. My wife and I dined on Saturday night for our second wedding anniversary and thought the was terrific. The service was attentive without being overbearing. We look forward to dining there more often in the future.
Nick Berkery
Disappointing. Chose this restaurant based on reviews and left wondering what the fuss is about. Food was ok, perhaps a little watery, but certainly overpriced especially for such small portions. Corkage was charged by the bottle. Won't be rushing back.
Epicure
Brilliant; attentive service, interesting menu & detailed wine list. Staff knowledgable re; food and wine and capable of match both well. Decor needs work but I'm sure this will happen. They're also open Monday night (almost unheard of in Melbourne; novel concept too!) go & enjoy.

Scopri. We had a large family function here on a Sunday. They opened especially for us. <br/>We went to quite a few high end Italian restaurants for a place that would suit us. We have elderly Italians in our family and young children. Many places we enquired about had restrictions on time, minimum spends, amount of space available and a reduced menu for a family function. <br/><br/>From the moment we met Allison and Anthony they were different. They were completely accomodating to any requirements. There is a small area to use as a dance floor, we bought in our own music and they let us really move the whole thing along at our own pace. We were there for a lunch and they seemed unconcerned with how long we stay for. <br/>They had printed out special menus for us, made a congratulations blackboard and helped organize flowers. <br/>The food was perfect. We have a range of palates in our group and some very fussy ones. From a desire for traditional Italian, to a desire for groovy quality food of the moment. Everyone loved everything, and I'm ashamed to say there's a few in our group who almost enjoy an opportunity to complain! <br/>Honestly it was a perfect function, and Allison and Anthony were the perfect hosts!

SCOPRI= great experience. In my experience of dining out in Melbourne, the term "traditional Italian" has been loosely thrown around. However, SCOPRI gives justice to the concept of traditional Italian. My partner and I had a great experience, at what I would currently call 'the best Italian in Melbourne'<br/>The Food is modestly described in the menu, although beautifully presented on the plate. The flavours are matched well, as are the prices - very competitive. <br/>My partner loved the Amalfi style coast seafood pasta whilst I really enjoyed the baccala served three different and unique ways.<br/>Next, and might I say executed to perfection, the slow braised rabbit for myself and also an aged porterhouse steak- which my partner only described as full flavoured yet remarkable tender<br/>Being so impressed by the first two courses, dessert was a must, the TAZZA DI CAFFE` is simple in concept, but magnificent in flavour. The combination of sweetened ricotta and Coffee infused zabaglione just works!<br/>Finally, a great restaurant in Carlton, with professional yet unintrusive service from real professionals. I cant wait to return!!<br/>9/10
Theguiltystomach
Service in this relatively spartan dining space, was warm, friendly and very attentive. The wine list reflected a good mix of australian and italian varietals
The Sydney Tarts
Unfortunately, because I was so distracted by trying talking and watches, I only managed to get one slice of the bresaola. Suffice to say that I wish that there'd been more of this smooth, rich charcuterie.
