Service is fantastic and the food is just out of this world!!! I ordered 4 meals and also had a taste of my partners and each dish was 10/10. It's not often a restaurant can get 5 star reviews from me, will recommend this place to anyone and everyone!! Bravo Phillipe ���
I've been following Chef Phillipe around Melbourne since the early 90's and have never been disappointed by his food, charm and service team. His longevity in the food scene is testament to his love of fine food and hospitality and it shows in every bite of every dish.

Beef eye fillet cooked to perfection
The porterhouse steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare, the entree was delicately delicious and enjoyable.
Went here for Valentine’s Day and it’s the first time I had French in Melbourne. Everything was cooked so perfect and so well, the ceviche was probably the best I’ve had so far in Melbourne. It was busy that night but loved every second of it, there was someone playing an accordion as well. Such a beautiful night.
Dined at Philippe and opted for 5 courses of signature Philippe dishes.
🍽 Pâté en croûte - pork and chicken pate which is very flavoursome. Has texture from pistachio nuts. Pickled vegetables are a nice accompaniment.
Tomato gazpacho - smooth tomato flavoured cold soup. Hints of basil.
Volaille - perfectly cooked chicken stuffed with mushroom. Fluffy crispy potatoes.
Mango oeuf à la neige - meringue floating on mango crème anglaise. Wonderful dessert.

Oysters in sea water jelly is recommended and the Escargots are beautiful. Should try to duck breast! First time in this restaurant and it gives me a lot of surprises. Recommended.
‘Philippe’ by Paul Bocuse trained Chef, Philippe Mouchel, is a great place to celebrate a special occasion (or any other for that matter) with special friends, as was this visit. The food, as you would expect, is up there as some of the best French offerings you will find in Melbourne. We thoroughly enjoyed our entire dining experience.
The food was delightful and delicious. The canard duck breast rotissoire with mango was so creative, and so much fun to eat!! Can’t wait to have it again. Service was also very polite and friendly. Had a very lovely evening.
Came here at lunch, but didn’t opt for the lunch set (very economic). My brother and I ended up ordering 150 or so but really enjoyed our food. The brioche was very very nice and my favourite was my beef cheek dish.
The oyster sea water jelly was so fresh when have it together with the sauce. For the entree we had the wagyu beef tartare and it was so fresh as well and crunchy as they use pomegranate inside. The toasted brioche with foie gras parfait is a must have! The brioche is so soft, tasty and goes so well with the quail and foie gras parfait and the jam. For the main we ordered duck rotisserie, it serves wit figs and duck leg which the duck leg is so tender. The figs also neutralise the taste of the duck. It goes so well together.
Nice French restaurant. Had lovely pate, steak with Bearnaise sauce, chips were delicious, also I adored the terrine. Lovely onion soup and bread. My only negative was they were a bit mean with the wine. The wine was below the line! Other than that one of the better French restaurants around.

A little French bistro in the heart of Melbourne. When you walk downstairs it immediately takes you away from Melbourne and you could for a second think that you're in an area of France. The food is splendid! Seeing the restaurant with its awards displayed gives you an idea that the food will be excellent. Everything was delicious, surprisingly even the sides wowed us. Their famous duck was so well balanced with the sauce and the escargot in its butter garlic sauce. We always know that the food and service will be great here. Whenever you're feeling a bit of French food, Philippe does not ever disappoint.
We had an incredible experience at Philippe. The service was fantastic and the food was even better. Portions were very large and the flavours were very authentic - so delicious! We never order dessert at restaurants but the creme brulee was too good to pass it. Would definitely recommend for a date night!

Fav was the duck breast! Super tender and crispy. The snail was really good too loved the garlic tomato flavours and their mains portions were HUGE!
Great service, relaxed atmosphere, French food cooked with passion and attention to detail. The duck is the go to dish here and it did not disappoint - wonderful sauces and rich desserts. What more could you want?
Celebrating a 22.02.2022 birthday couldn't have been better at Philippe. Spencer served us with his best attention and so did the rest of the crew. The food was awesome..can't go wrong with the snails, brochollini, pate, and not forgetting the duck! The must try place for French dining! Thank you for the Happy Birthday chocolate!
Perfect date night dinner in the city for French cuisine. Everything was top notch. If you head early there happy hour oyster for $2 which was an absolute bargain for the quality and freshness.

Philippe is definitely the perfect French restaurant for your romantic date night! The ambience and atmosphere were absolutely lovely. They serve humble yet refined and gourmet French food. Everything we had was perfectly executed. We started with the sourdough bread and French butter! That was one of the best butter I have had! So creamy, buttery and fragrant. For entrees, we had the escargots and tartare. Can’t fault any of these. The flavours were perfectly balanced, just delicious! We ordered duck and waygu rump for mains. I will not stop raving about the duck because that was sublime!!! The duck was tender with a crispy skin. I could taste the duck fat melting in my mouth in each bite. The bright and tart jus complimented so well with the slight sweetness of the duck. The waygu was alright but the duck outshined it. Last but not least remember to order their chips. Can’t wait to visit Philippe again.
We had an exceptional experience at Phillipe. The food is overwhelmingly excellent - you will not be disappointed!
