The best italian food in Melbourne.. the staff is amazing and friendly! The food give you that heavenly feeling with the first bite.. Authenticity in this place got me and my partner to love the real italian taste... Love this place!
Absolutely delish, every mouthful a delight. We had the chef's menu, 3 entres, every mouthful was bliss, best gnocchi I've ever eaten, and truffle gnocchi creamy heaven. To top it off, the Tipomisu, a chocolate fondant meets tiramisu sensation for the tastebuds. Service was excellent, thank you Kate :)
We just ordered heat at home meals from providoor.com due to the current stage 4 restrictions. Wow just wow! So delicious, easy to prepare. Haven’t eat that well in 6 months. Beautiful side dishes to add depth of flavour. Even the foccacia was amazing with the ricotta and basil dip
Ordered on providoor. Finished the cooking at home. Was quick and simple. The duck was the best pasta I’ve ever had. Loved the ragù and rabbit. I’m not usually into seafood but the squid was very light and refreshing. Tiramisu was decadent with the right amount of sweetness and bitterness. Overall, the pastas weren’t heavy at all and was the perfect serving size for two people.

WTH! It took me 2 months to get a table reservation.. I don't mind waiting that long if food's good. Unfortunately, this high-profile restaurant didn't meet my expectation. I had Gnocchi di patate, Tagliolini Al Nero, and Tipomisu. Gnocchi was fluffy and came with savory braised duck and squid ink pasta was cooked to perfection with refreshing lemony kick. They were all decent, well-balanced dishes... just not as impressive as I anticipated. I found them dull and service definitely had some room for improvement. I personally wouldn't recommend this place - felt like it's hyped up too much
I have never had a bad experience eating at Tipo.
Does the small space and the wait time turn me off? Noooo...
The staff are accommodating and always make me feel like a princess.
I have sadly never made it to the secondi due to my weak spot for good quality pasta with that luxurious mouthfeel. The food is executed beautifully and use fresh and high quality ingredients.
There is something to complement every palate on the wine list, which pairs nicely with the menu.
the food is so tasty, we quite like it.

Went into this restaurant as a group of 8 people. The food here is amazing and hands down one of the best in Melbourne. The only thing is this place is small, so you just got to sit in one place and not move around.
The winning dish for me was definitely the Burrata, it was so creamy and soft. Make sure to order it, as you won't be tasting anything like that anywhere else. we also had the grilled ox tongue, balsamic & pink peppercorns which was flavourful but it was a bit on the dry side.
Then we had the squid ink tagliolini, squid & bottarga which I loved and thought it was well executed. Polenta fritta – crunchy rosemary chips which were a crowd favourite.
Gnocchi di patate – braised duck, porcini & pecorino pepato was the best gnocchi I have ever tasted, it was soft as a pillow and melting in the mouth, make sure to order it, as itis hands down the best gnocchi.
For desserts, we had Tipomisù – chocolate, coffee & mascarpone which is kind of like a deconstructed tiramisu and Bomboloni – ricotta doughnuts, strawberry & lemon.
We had a few vegetarians in the group, so the menu was catered to suit everyone.
Fantastic atmosphere that serves simple yet delicious food. Squid ink pasta in particular is my fav dish. We’ve also ordered calamari as our started, but it was just alright.
Pros: just amazing flavours!! I love how the pasta sauces are not overpowering. Had the creamy truffle special pasta and the sauce was to die for, subtle truffle taste and I don't feel bad eating it as it wasn't just fully cream like other pastas I've had. The avocado and cherries complement very well with the ceviche. Meats just melted in my mouth. Service was excellent.
Cons: pasta was undercooked, it was a bit hard.
4.5
Always love coming here. Pasta is great
The pasta is good but comes at a price
One of my favourite Italian restaurant in the city. Everything is aways good. If you couldn’t get a reservation online, please go to the restaurant to put your name down. Best to do late lunch after 2 pm .. you will definitely won’t wait too long . Don’t forget to try their risotto truffle pasta :)
Overall a great experience as always. The entrees - (tartare, ox tongue, calamari were all quite amazing. The mains, the pasta were slightly undercooked but still had a nice flavour. Service was good and it’s definitely worth giving it a go.
Sat outdoors with a table of 4 a few weeks ago. Compared to previous visits, the pasta this time was slightly underseasoned which impacted the overall flavour of the dish - in particular the Moreton Bay Bug pasta which made is a bit bland. Texture though was cooked on point. Service was also generally attentive. Hopefully it's improved again the future.
Finally tried Melbourne’s famous pasta bar, Tipo 00 (after many failed attempts at securing a booking) - and I gotta say, the pasta here is seriously some of the best you can get!
Honestly don’t think you can go wrong with any dish on their menu, but some of my top picks would be the Zucchini flower stuffed with spanner crab (only on their special menu though!), their famous Squid ink tagliolini (this one’s a MUST TRY), and the Tipomisu for dessert (really strong coffee flavour and not overly sweet - a must for coffee lovers!).
Tipo 00 doesn't stop amazing me!
The food is outstanding!! By far the stand-out was the tortellini cacio e pepe.
The serving size is super generous and the service is top notch.
We shared 4 dishes and they served them plated up individually which is such a great touch (photos show half serving for the pasta/risotto, gnocchi is the full serve).
Definitely over ate but couldn't resist the dessert which was also brilliant.
Can't wait to go back!
Truffle night. Plus duck gnocchi.
Excellent as always. Duck is a staple, and the truffle risotto is also a staple when truffle is on the menu. I'm glad to have tried the Paccheri and it had more depth of flavour, but I personally still liked the simple risotto more. Will be back next truffle season.
Tipo 00 was outrageous... Outrageously good. That's what Gordon Ramsey would have said and I completely agree with that.
Great cozy atmosphere, friendly staff explaining each part of the menu for you. Food was tasty and very filling. A night to remember!
