Review Ganache Chocolate - Melbourne

Ting Yu
Nice coffee with real chocolate crumble. Nice environment as well. But the waitress was irritated when I asked her politely to clean the table a bit and got more annoyed when I tried to clean it by myself because she didn't see or clean the sticky stain at my side. Five stars to the coffee and environment. Two stars for the service.

So. Firstly, lemon tart is very nice. Dessert is adorable. Chocolate is really rich. But I had high expection about their coffee and hot chocolate. Unfortunatelly, coffee is too hot make it taste too sour. The milk frothed very fine but how could it get so hot, I dont quite understand, And hot chocolate is really rich and smooth, but too sweet, and the topping is needless. Last thing, which probably not important, but, I really hope they could change a better plate. White plate with white table is not really good experience for photo.

This place was recommended to me. went to try some chocolate after meal. The cafe has a big variety of chocolates cakes and desserts. The place has a limited but cozy seating. Tried some chocolate cakes and it was satisfing. The hot chocolate was also a stunner. I would recommend this place if you feel like grabing a sweet and you will definitely not be disappointed.

Love the cakes here, my personal favourite being the Fifth Avenue - I usually get the full-sized ones for birthdays and they're always the highlight of the party!

This soul has been dying to have a perfect THICK Italian-style Dark Hot Chocolate ever since eternity (a year to.be honest šŸ¤£). Have tried so many this winter but nothing came close to the Hot Chocolate served by a Cafe on Glenferrie Road but Ganache Chocolate managed to impress us a lot. Another place in our kitty to have that nice, dark, thick Hot Chocolate.

We had visited Ganache as part of our Chocolate Tour in Melbourne and was disappointed that they only gave us 1 tutor of chocolate to taste for everybody. All other shops on tour offered different flavors. The Hot Chocolate was way too Sweet. Bring b only a small test cup. Not sure if the proper cup would be better

Utterly terrible experience here. Do not even approach this store if more then 2 people are in here. The staff have no idea how to handle multiple people ordering or completing orders. For a simple menu, only ordering drinks and cakes, it took over 45 mins to complete, during that time our order was drip fed to us making it awkward for us. We were even missing an item, the staff didn't care nor offer a resolution to the missing item. The place is small and when multiple people come in with prams and block any route around the place meaning our slow order took even longer (staff didn't assist or ask people to move their shopping bags, children or prams from all over the place). The hot chocolate and cakes were nice, but wholeheartedly not worth the wait not exuberant price.

On entering this establishment the smell of freshly ground coffee instantly hits you. And it was as anticipated FABULOUS. I had the lemon tart and my daughter had the triple chocolate mousse and hot chocolate. Everything was excellent

The cake slice despite being a bit pricey is so worth the price tag, it was very creamy and high quality however you should definitely get it to share because it can become a bit too sweet. The chocolates were a bit of a disappointment, I didnā€™t enjoy most of them however they were very pretty visually. Overall I would definitely try the cakes here however I would give the chocolates a pass!

It was a Melbourne winters day during our summer! Havenā€™t been to Ganache for quite a while, so popped in for a hot chocolate. Had the hazelnut hot choc at $6.80 and it was nice, although there was not a trace of hazelnut taste through it. Also, it wasnā€™t mixed well and had a murky sea of chocolate at the bottom. Koko Black and Godiva are still my first choices for hot chocolate in Melbourne!
Steph Giles
Love the classic 60% ganache hot chocolates and chocolate milkshakes! Staff are also lovely and efficient.

wow! one of my clients at work told me this was her favourite place to get coffee in the city. in her wirds, she said she likes to really know shes having a coffee when she drinks one. and she was right! i had the mocha here and it was so good! and another thing i love is the atmosphere! outside is ordinary melbourne cbd, but once you step inside, its like this warm, cosy bubble! you wouldnt even know that you are in melbourne! i love it! i wanna come back to try their chocolates and desserts next time :)

We came by on a cold and wet day seeking shelter from the rain and some yummy treats. I ordered the mocha frappe. It was delicious - the chocolate and the coffee were just the right ratio so that the flavour of the frappe was very balanced. It was also quite thick and indulgent. I also had the triple mousse cake and it was light and each layer was yummy on its own so collectively it was excellent. The espresso unfortunately was burnt. If you love chocolate though this is the place to be.

We have been fans of Ganache for many years. Their chocolates are always beautifully packaged and they taste pretty good too, without them being sickly sweet.

After a tiring afternoon of shopping, we decided to put our feet up for a few minutes. Ganache was a perfect place to do just that. We had the iced coffee, classic hot chocolate and cappuccino. Even though it was a busy time, our drinks came fairly quickly. Everything was well prepared, in particular the hot chocolate. This was rich, creamy and satisfying.

The lemon tart was bursting with citrusy tones while the passion fruit and mango jelly slice was beautifully balanced with the white chocolate mousse.

This is a great place to recharge your batteries before heading out to the chaos of the CBD.
Sammy
I would come here to get birthday cakes. The passion fruit cakes are perfect for those who do not like chocolate. Never really try their chocolate drinks, maybe next time

It was wet and windy afternoon when I came it, and this place was FULL of locals. I assumed that it must be good. I ordered mint chocolate and what came to my table was a DELICIOUS CREAMY warm chocolate. I LOVED it so much. It was affordable price for me and totally made my afternoon
Forknifespoon
Rating is based on hot chocolate drink. Cashier wasnt welcoming, it took 10mins for my hot chocolate and even worse my hot chocolate wasnt warm at all. I was so disappointed all i wanted was warm, creamy hot chocolate for a cold day. Definitely not worth the price for me.

Best dark hot choc and cinnamon. Staff here is torally disinterested and lacking service at the counter. Ordered and got charged for two hot chocs when I only ordered one. Not great practice however glad we ordered two.

A trip to Ganache is always on the cards when visiting the city. Staff are friendly, the variety of chocolate desserts are amazing and they make THE best cinnamon hot chocolate Iā€™ve ever tasted, definitely worth the calories!
The complimentary hazelnut cookie is a delicious bonus.
Sarah Chan
Slow service. Staff forgotten our order and we've waited 20min to get two drinks. Coffee is good and accompanied with an almond biscuit which was nice.
Eat_today_diet_tomorrow
Love this classic chocolate cafe. I tried their signature hot chocolate and passion fruit cake. They were very so smooth and delicious. Would definately come back again
Renee @thehappyorganicgirlau
Classic retail store selling delicious gourmet chocolates, beverages and pastries! I ordered a soy cappuccino which was lovely and it was a cute addition of the Meringue on the side - tasty too!!
Dine&market
Absolutely love this place! Steep pricing but worth every dollar. Looking forward to getting a cake here for my birthday haha the sugar free chocolate even won me over. Not sure what percent the dark chocolate was but it was delicious.
Sweetoothbrunches
A perfect and bright selcection of small chocolates immediately entices you from the counter. I decided to order one of their cakes and a latte. The cake was very nice.
Muty Said
We been here a couple of times and sat outside. We didnt get to sit inside because it was full every time we came. We always ordered their hot chocolate. It came with a cookie. Though the hot chocolate itself is rather sweet but i dont mind it. I fell in love with their cookie and bought 2 packs! Aaah~ i shouldā€™e bought more! Hands down it was one of my fav cookie ever!!

Will recommend this place to friends and family! ā¤ļø
Some Bunee Loves Food
Love their cakes here. Very beautifully made and layers of different flavours. They have a nice selection of chocolate as well. Their creamy milk chocolate range is awesome.

The feeling of the passion fruit cake delivers smoothness, freshness and vibrancy with an uncomplicated way to slice it, as passion should be. The mocha on its side delivers a subtle darkness without the bitterness attached to it, all served in a modern elegant dish and cutlery. The barista is precise and focused on the coffee craft to deliver you the presence that youā€™re after in this place. The staff all classy and groomed will make you feel your time spent here is valued.

The name might give it away but this place is a chocolate shop, dessert stop and it also sells pretty good strong almond lattes. Iā€™ve made it my mission to rate this one drink recently and their version is very good. Iā€™m really pleased I called in here, the only danger is trying not buy the chocolate or great looking cakes whilst you wait for the coffee to be made. Having had the chocolate before on other visits I highly rate them too.
KD

The first time I came to Ganache was years ago and I definitely like this place to sit and chit chat over hot chocolate.
Oh, their iced chocolate is nice too. And early of this month I paid a visit to this place again, I like the ambience of this place.
They have indoor seating area and outdoor seating area.

My favorite is their signature hot chocolate.
CQL
another chocolate parlour in the city. nice location. It was very comfy to sit outside in this spring. Hot signature dark chocolate was my preference here.
Scrumptious GG
I made a right decision by had their signature hot chocolate and a ruby coffee almond crunch for my late Friday night treat!
The sweetness from the hot choc was a lovely combination to a slight sourness from the raspberry cake. Although I have to say, I had a better hot chocolate somewhere else, but this one definitely was not dissapointing.
Reasonably priced, and they have a variety of chocolate, gelato to cakes.
Friday night staff were friendly and attentive.
Mystery Shopper_X
The shop wasn't airconed or heated. The room felt damp. temperature wasn't expectied of a chocolate shop. A couple of flies were found inside the chocolate cabinet in front of the counter causing me to doubt whether food is sanitary and free from vermin. Shop lighting was dim, horibble, and didn't match or highlight chocolate products well. Staff weren't very attentive to you presence, looked very lazy, bored with their job, didn't care, and waiting to finish for the day. Overall it looked neglected by the business owner.
CrazyCakeLady
Amazing hot chocolates. Not all of the cakes are to my taste, but they are very nice and good quality; the chocolate cake would have to be among the best that I've had. The savory food is quite nice too.
Eduardo Dias
This one is probably your way to or back from work. They have a large variety of chocolates and desserts, you canā€™t go wrong here.

I had a hot chocolate and a triple chocolate mousse. The hot chocolate has a bit of dark chocolate as well so itā€™s not very sweet, the mousse was very smooth and tasty.

Really good service, nice deserts and I definitely recommend this place if you are passing by or around CBD.

Cute little cafe on Collins Street for either a quick stop or a longer hang out spot for a date w/ a bestie!Ā

Ambiance: The lighting is warm and space is cozy albeit a little tight.Ā

Desserts: We tried the Vegan Chocolate Cake and a long black plus dark chocolate mocha.Ā

The cake was soft and decadent with layers of cream throughout the slice and textured chocolate on the outside! And it was big enough to split between two people (which is what we did).

Will be back to try their take on the frozen hot chocolate!Ā

The coffee was mediocre but the mocha may be better to try!Ā

Price: A bit steep at $10 for the cake slice, but reasonable for coffee and mocha at $4 and $7 each.
Charlie And Ko Reviews
Tried two of the single serve cakes and geez they were spot on delicious. The hazelnut was subtle in richness and very satisfying. The raspberry was rich, a little too rich for my taste buds but still delicious. Priced on the extreme side $9 per serve but as a treat definitely something nice.
Mo
Touristy cafe on Collins street with lots of chocolates on display. Itā€™s a dessert cafe and thereā€™s a number of fancy chocolate themed warm drinks you can have too. Thereā€™s an abundance of seating so itā€™s a good place to rest weary legs and indulge.

A busy chocolate cafe opened up in a pretty populated and bustling area near the corner of Collins and Swanston St, Ganache Chocolate was able to provide us with a large quantity of macarons for a special event! Naturally, I had the chance to visit the store to pick up our order and try the quality of the macarons they provided us. They have a lovely section out the front displaying a range of chocolate covered goods, as well as a delicious display cabinet of cakes that I just want to try some day!
Sam L
The cakes have a lovely consistency of flavour and density (except the really rich dark chocolate ones). The hazelnut fan is amazing and itā€™s my familyā€™s go to cake for birthdays if we want to play it safe.
Caroline Beaney
Ganache now sells a cake suitable for vegans! It tasted really nice. It was a bit heavier than non-vegan cakes but still good! I also bought a non vegan cake for Christmas Day - the quality and size was good and more affordable than getting a cake at Brunettiā€™s. Will be my number one place to buy cakes for friends and family.

I was out with my friends in the city over the weekend when we spotted this outlet and decided to give it a try. We ordered for the Classic Hot Chocolate and it was served along with a hazelnut cookie. I usually love chocolates a lot but I found the Hot Chocolate to be excessively sweet. Never-the-less, I was not disappointed and enjoyed the drink.
Ferry Gondo
Delicious cafe to stop from daily activities and enjoy a sip of hot chocolate over my favorite Hazelnut cake. The chocolate hazelnut ganache was perfect, nutty and creamy at the same time. Love the ambience as well as it exudes the atmosphere of coziness alongside warm Victorian dining room with wood paneled cabinets and floors.

Best hot chocolate hands down !! great location and friendly staff. Also have a selection of desserts.. most of them are pretty good ..
but place is a tad expensive
Wandering Ella
Ganache Chocolate has been a constant 'birthday cake' staple for our group of friends. My favourite slice has got to be the refreshing Mango Mousse. The Hazelnut Fan cake is pretty good too although it is a little too sweet. Love their chocolate coated hazelnuts - basically solid nutella after all!
Syd
I ordered the Black Forest cake and omg it made me happy to my soul. I highly recommend they have an amazing selection in their cabinet. I have added some photos of other items. They also have heaps of delicious looking chocolate options for sale in packets. šŸ˜

Visited Ganache Chocolate yesterday for a little afternoon treat. My friend and I both ordered hot chocolates 1x salted caramel & 1x white chocolate
Both were super smooth and creamy & hit that afternoon spot after strolling through the city.

We both shared the fifth avenue cake but we felt like the hot chocolates would of been enough as we felt extra full walking out after having the cake also
Cake was delicious though

Staff where very lovely & helpful.
So so slow. Take away coffee can take up to 15mins... with only a queue of 3 people. The coffee is ok. But far from the top of the scale. My friend got a hot chocolate. She was charged $7 and it was so sickly sweet it was undrinkable. It was made from a premixed vat and think it was supposed to have milk added. You can see the syrup on the side of the cup. It went straight into the bin.

MMMMMMMM CHOCOLATE :)Ā

Like La Belle Miette, Lindt and a few other places on Collins Street, Ganache is known for their chocolate and they do it very well. It's all about the quality of the chocolate and the presentation of their delicious little cakes and sweets as well.Ā

I went out with Mum for a hot chocolate (She had the hazelnut and I had the white chocolate) she ordered a small chocolate with it and I had the Raspberry Chocolate Mousse. Both the hot chocolate drinks were delicious. My White hot Chocolate was milky, creamy, smooth and a little buttery and sweet and so good. Absolutely yummy. The Raspberry Chocolate Mousse was rich, creamy and also tasted damn fine.

Ambience was nice and relaxed, staff were super friendly and made the whole experience very pleasant and enjoyable.Ā

As with La Belle Miette this is one of those 'special occasion' places to put on your list. Definitely worth a visit. :)

This review proudly brought to you by The Haunted Bookshop... a little treasure I found while wandering the streets of Melbourne. Interesting.

I often come here to get small "one slice" cakes, and have always been at the high quality of the cakes. Sometimes they can be a tad too sweet for me. I've had the raspberry mouse one a few times and it's a favourite of mine. I tried the macarons once and thought the flavours weren't quite there.
Ling Yap
Lovely service. If u are a sweet tooth, don't hesitate to try the desserts & macaroons. Coffee comes with a crispy hazelnut cookie top. The raspberry mousse cake is fruity with dark chocolate in it. Cakes are around $9.00 each.
Super8
Made a booking here for a number of friends. A few more came than we had booked for and we were TOLD OFF for having extra people (the place was virtually empty so easily accommodated)! To the extent the person on the cash register was extremely rude and demanding to know our personal details (what for?)! Complained that we were too messy as there were so many of us. Have never experienced any restaurant or cafe complaining that we had brought them extra business!! Cakes and drinks were mediocre anyway so we will not be returning. Would not recommend as there are many better places in the city to visit.
Intercooledpc2
Had a delicious mocha - smooth, fine chocolatey taste. Yum!

Looking forward to go back and try some of the delicious chocolate treats on offer.

Pricey but delicious!
Harapeko Abacus
Great hot chocolate and really amazing chocolate cakes! The cakes cost around $9 per piece, but I think it's worth it(I thik the one was brownie moose). It's hard to find such a great chocolate cake in the world... Highly recommended.
Ila Shrivastava
Nice variety of Hot Chocolate flavours, each one as smooth and delicious as the next. Also a very appealing set of pastries, visually attractive and enjoyable for those with a heavy sweet tooth. Great service and overall a good ambience. Nice cosy cafe for a cold winter day. Though it can become quite overcrowded at times which can make it slightly uncomfortable.

Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate.

I drooled just by the sound of it. Especially during the rainy days, which this season seems to have almost every other day. I was in dire need for something sweet that warm my body and my mission to fulfill my chocolate cravings, takes me to this glorious chocolatiers.

Residing in the center of the bustling Collin Street, Chocolate Ganache is a shop that specializes in everything chocolate. Their creations are almost similar to the famed Koko Black, just not as massive and minus the crowds. Once inside, you will be invited to be seated either indoor or out on the patio (mostly for smokers), regardless of your preference, this is a solid place to hang out.

As for my drink, I had the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate and it was so comforting, beautifully creamy and has that dark chocolate intensity that I like. It was served with a bite sized hazelnut meringue cookie, I personally would take this out of the equation as it was rather hard to bite on. Other than that, their cup of chocolate was scrumptious and it will do wonders to your taste buds.
Suekjingpang
The salted caramel hot chocolate is surprisingly good. I always order this, but recently I found the "G" on the surface of the drink being distorted. It disappoints me, I think the manager should teach his stuff to write a proper G as it represents the brand itself.

Hope to see your improvement.
Hungry Gwendy
Just satisfying ! Loved the service and amazing desserts. Try anything, you'll love them all. Very reasonable and neat interiors, designed for book lovers.
Macarena Misterio
I went to Ganache and I got a hot chocolate for me and coffee for me bf, the hot chocolate it was too dense, I do like creamy and rich, but still it has to be drinkable, the taste was ok but I couldn't finish, if I have diabetes that probably would kill me!
Bernie L
Very chocolatey cakes and excellent iced coffees and Chocs too. Perfect for chocolate lovers . Friend reckon the hot Choc was too thick. Hazelnut fan was nice and the service was good too. Just that the air con always seems to be out of order each time during summertime .....
BeeEater
Triple mousse is simple yet not overwhelming. Very light and you could taste every layer of the white, milk and dark chocolate. Also tried their special hot chocolate range (Salted caramel), a hint of salty, rich sweetness combined with the milk chocolate goodness. The White Chocolate Milkshake is also very frothy and well presented. Recommend trying their cake specialities! They also have a wide selection of chocolates that you can give as gifts!
Gabriel Karamoy
I tried the hot chocolate in the CBD branch, wanted to try the desserts but I was already full at the time so I went into the South Yarra branch to try the dessert since its close to my home. Tried their triple mousse and the fifth avenue. They're pretty good! A must-try for desserts lover
Two Sheds
Very pleasant little place to have a coffee and grab some chocolates. Plenty of patrons coming in and out so it seems popular. Coffee here was good but not spectacular. It was a bit too much foam and slightly underpowered. It's certainly a generous cup though. I asked for a large cup and was given that plus a very fetching almond cookie which was nice and tasty. The staff were lovely here I must say and seemed very upbeat and engaged in what they were doing. Good for them. Nice little spot. I wouldn't hesitate to return.
FoodLoverRose
I've been a customer for many years. Great range of yummy cakes and chocolates, some wonderful dairy free options for those with food intolerance too :) definitely one of the best in Melbourne!
Split The Bill
Felt like a little sweet treat and wondered passĀ Ā Ganache Chocolate. Popped in for a nice warm chocolate mocha ( I usually prefer mine piping extra hot) which was just ok - $4.90 along with an ok lemon tart - $9 my friend had the chocolate mouse and latte.

All the chocolates and desserts looked beautiful in the case and is probably great place to buy some yummy cakes and chocolates over Xmas ( their Xmas range was on display).

I would come back here as the staff were attentiveĀ and it was nice and comfortable place to meet with friends.
Foodieperth
I though this little dessert shop was wonderful. We came here after Om Nom was fully booked. I ordered the chocolate and hazelnut fan cake and it was sensational. The layers of chocolate and hazelnut were exeptional just like everything else in Melbourne!
Mizpiggy
I was in town and came here for a quick coffee. Real chocolates on top with my cappuccino which always wins browny points with me. The little biscuit that came complimentary was a great complement to the coffee!

This is a very cute and cozy cafe/shop. So many things to choose from in terms of chocolate. The menu is quite extensive when it comes to hot chocolate, other cold drinks and patisserie. I ordered a chai latte and the brownie mousse slice which looks very nice. However, it's really really rich. I'm glad it was only a small piece. My friends went for the hazelnut hot chocolates which they love but also said was very rich. One ordered a baguette thing which she said was nice and the other ordered a ham and cheese croissant which was also tasty. Staff are absolutely fabulous, so friendly. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

My Nan liked the white hot chocolate so much, that every time she has something sweet she tells me "this is ok, but it's not as good as that white chocolate I had in Melbourne"
Katherine's Food Diary
The interior is gorgeous, filled with dark wood furniture, wooden floors and warm lighting. Very cosy - looked like a nice place to sit and have a hot drink on a cold day. The display behind the counter reminded me of Christmas.Ā I chose the Raspberry chocolate mousse. The flavour of the chocolate mousse was rich and not too sweet; it went well with the tangy raspberry on top.
Vivi Wulansari
A beautiful lounge, salt caramel hot chocolate is my favourite!! Yumm!! The chocolates and salt caramel popcorn covered in white chocolate yumm yumm yumm
Priyanka Tobing
Ganache is now me and wife's favorite spot for hot chocolate. When we got here all we knew was Max Brenner, now we've got a winner I guess. We had the classic and hazelnut when we were there! Both are equally delicious!
Ankit Agnish
Good seating area for a cafe - cake - chocolate shop however the deserts were excessively sweet to begin with. Loads of sweetness and didn't tasted fresh. Though presentation was nice. Prices umm justify the location. Things could be better. Friendly staff šŸ‘šŸ½

Ordering on a Saturday night was a bit of a struggle. Customer service was so so! Found it difficult to order as the person at the till couldn't understand simple order and she let others cut in front of people waiting! Tea was great and so were our desserts, Ganache only lose points on customer service in my opinion!
Huiyi
Tried the Hazelnut hot chocolate (think it's 60% dark), very rich but a tad sweet for my liking. Also sells exquisite chocs. Like that this place opens till late.
Kim
I love that they have some vegan options!! The vegan hot chocolate and vegan chocolate cake are delicious! I'd love to see more vegan options! Also probably wise not to give customers egg biscuits with their vegan food haha it was a waste as we didn't eat them obviously.
MichaelL
No worth the money, coffee average and you can get much better quality cakes elsewhere.
Chocolates were ok, lack anything new in style or flavor.
Vero
Love their hot chocolates, been here many times. Classic and hazelnut would be my choice. Really rich and yummy. One of the best chocolate in town.
Rishabh Shukla
Experience summary-
Coffee - excellent!
Mushroom quiche - tastes good, but looks and tastes more like an omelette
Chocolate cake - would have been great, if not so hard

Would go again, but only for the chocolates!
Ruizu
Went here on the weekend with a friend for tea/coffee and dessert. The orange cake was so-so, had some bits that were moist and some dry. I did think it was a tad sweet but I would definitely come back to try their other desserts.

Feeling like a bit of a sweet treat at lunchtime, I decided to check out Ganache Chocolate, a luxury chocolate cafe located on Collins St. Iā€™ve been craving French cakes since I had a catch up with my friends at Biblelot, where I experienced them for the first time. It was really hard to decide what cake I wanted, so I stuck with one of my favourite flavours.
Donna Braden
For a coffee, tea, dessert or chocolate this is well worth a visit. Coffee it has depth of flavour and a wonderful aroma. Try the hazelnut latte yum. There is a large range of sweets and desserts to please any craving and with seating out the front and at the rear of the store you can have a chat and enjoy until your heart and belly are content. It was lovely to see that businesses still serve tea in teapots. Enjoy.

Visited this shop as part of a Melbourne Chocolate Walking tour. Ā The hot chocolate is the best I've ever tasted and I hope that when I visit the city in the future I can make my way here to have another one. Ā Chocolates also very nice. Ā Staff friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the different chocolates they were selling.
Espresso&Matcha
After an afternoon nap to digest our lunch, we headed out again to have afternoon tea as part of our rest (aka. sleep and get fat) day. Waking up right on the dot when our tummy alarms went off, we headed to Ganache chocolate for afternoon tea.Ā . We were greeted at the door with a range of cakes and chocolates upon entry.
Ramieleatsshootsandleaves
Always a warm, friendly welcome and service here no matter how busy it gets.
Good for being rich, indulgent and at the same time flavoursome without being too sweet/sugary.
Chris Tabone
Such an awesome surprise this shop is. As a local I had walked past way to many times and it's only because I had friends from out of town visiting that I decided to take them inside. I'd been missing out way too long! Amazing chocolate and an even more amazing hot chocolate. Try EVERYTHING!!!
Jessica
Quick service, nice and cozy little spot to have some desserts. Had the Hazelnut Flan slice and Fifth Avenue. The Hazelnut Flan slice was almost like a deconstructed Ferrero Rocher cake with beautiful silky mousse, perfect for a chocolate lover. The Fifth Avenue was delicate and suttle, a combination of chocolate, raspberry and cherries
Anupama Singh
After hearing so much about it's chocolate, I chose to try this place .

The ambience is nice , you can choose the place with your bestie and sit and enjoy their coffee forever.

I feel the reviews are little overrated for cold beverages , their dark chocolate is really good but white ice cream was okay.
Matty T
Apologies in advance for the missing head of this little solid hazelnut praline marbled bunny - my wife beat me to it!!! Really really good chocolate! Maybe a little too sweet for me personally but still really good!
Tony
Disappointed after reading about high praise. The only food that was delicious and would recommend was the hazel nut fan. Other items were very average. The salted items was very salty to taste. Most appalling was the cake display. It had flies all over them. Not just a few flies. There was a swarm of them. Avoided all food in that display case.
Annabel Wilson
OMG amazing hot chocolate anywhere I had another hot chocolate place never the same, too bad they don't have ganache shops anywhere else in the world mainly uk is where I am fromšŸ˜š
Out And About
Possibly the best chocolatier in Melbourne. Launched by the head chocolatier from Koko Black, Ganache make all their chocolate in their South Yarra store. Their hot chocolates in particular are amazing!
TresHungry
The hazelnut cake here is my absolute favourite. I always come back for it. I even ordered a large one for my birthday this year! The crunchy praline base paired with the rich mousse is an incredible combination. I can't describe in words how much I love this cake.Ā

I've also tried a hot chocolate here once but it was way too thick and rich for my liking. It felt like I was just drinking melted chocolate, which I imagine would be enjoyable for some people but it was honestly too much for me to handle.

The plain croissants here are also delicious. They're buttery and flaky and everything you'd want in a croissant. Thumbs up!
Clarinna
I always choose the normal ice chocolate but today we tried the salted caramel and it is even more delicious! Not overly sweet with a hint of saltiness at every sip. The hazelnut hot chocolate was also good, you can definitely taste the hazelnut. Lastly, I ordered my fav hazelnut fan slice and yes it is the best hazelnut cake I've ever tasted. The bottom was crispy like eating ferrero rocher, and the top was a smooth chocolate mousse. My mom and aunt were very happy that I brought them there.
Krishna Brannigan
Great chilli dark chocolate great for comfort eating. A little expensive by the time you are tempted by the last minute chocolate packets by the till! $28
Hilarey Barton
The most amazing hazelnut hot chocolate I've ever tried. So thick you could stand your spoon up in it, rich and chocolatey and just absolutely delicious
Patronus
Better than I expected. They serve different hot chocolate like salted caramel or hazelnut flavor. Just the right amount of sweetness. Really a good after-dinner place to go!
Jason Tew
Ordered ganache panache. Didn't even know how to pronounce it to the waiter, well now I know. For those who don't know, it's like platter of chocolates and stuff. It was pretty worth it and it was a struggle to finish it with my gf . Definitely suggest couples to order this and take your sweet time finishing it together :)
Snow Crab Nebula
Powering through Melbourne's best hot chocolate places seems to be a bit of a habit of mine at the moment. I had Ganache recommended to me by a similarly sweet toothed friend recently and took it upon myself to visit it while on my way back from a client meeting when I *really* needed a sugar hit!. I ordered a hot chocolate with salted caramel and the best way I can describe the experience was that it was like drinking a super smooth chocolate bar with a delicious crisp meringue on the side for some texture!
William Cornwill
The specialty might be chocolate but the coffee is just as good. The aroma and taste are on par and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The homemade biscuit on the side was crisp, sweet and nutty, a bit like me.
Lisa Wang
One of my favourite cafes for dessert, whether just a cup of hot chocolate, some take away assorted chocolates, or their delicious and visually appealing cakes, a visit to ganache could truely be a perfect treat for relaxing weekend.

Been to Ganache quite a few times now, and I've never been disappointed with the service there. My favourite cake is the hazelnut fan slice, it's chocolatey without being too overwhelming!
Just Another Foodie
Nice to have another dessert place in the CBD that opens late. Lots of variety of cakes and chocolates to choose from. Tried the Fifth Avenue and it was nice though I think the chocolate overpowered the raspberry.

Warm hot chocolate on a cold night is best served at GĆ¢nache Chocolate. With their large range of flavours you won't know what to pick. The Fifth Avenue that I ordered was forgotten about and I need to remind them what I ordered, although it was nice and sweet, moose filling with a raspberry glaze. Hot Chocolate comes with a complimentary macadamia biscuit (rock). It was nice, I'd go again.
Helenaconia
The mocha is awesome but the hot hazelnut chocolate is way more. Probably the best that i've ever tasted, so thick and fluffy. Served with macadamia cookie~

Ganache cafe has lived to my expectations regarding the quality of the cakes available, and the quality of its chocolates and biscuits.

The cafe is very charming, very European with some gorgeous art-deco lamps, woody and cozy, with all the products on sale wonderfully wrapped and displayed.

The selection of cakes and slices is most appetizing. I had the new Fruit of the Forest mouse desert, placed in an inclined vertical cup, Pisa Tower style, and it was delectable regarding theĀ mix of textures and the different flavour of each mouse layer. Light but colourful to the palate. I love mouse based cakes, so I was in the 7th heaven.

The hazelnut light, crunchy biscuit offered for free with any coffee was just wonderful, and I ended buying a whole packet of it.

Not only that, they also sell maxi-cakes, and I will definitely go back for those. Ā

The coffee was just OK.

The staff were quite nice and welcoming, something I especially appreciate when I see a place fully packed and the staff not having a moment of rest.

Perhaps best known for their award-winning handmade chocolates, there is another reason you must go to Ganache Chocolate and that is for the cake. Arno Backes, Master Chocolatier and owner, has reinvented the classic European hazelnut slice with some personal touches to create the Hazelnut Fan Slice.

Words do not describe. Bitter and sweet all at once. ...

For those of us who were unable to stomach any more sugar for the day (blasphemous, I know!), takeaway was thankfully an option.
Chocolate Monster
Hazelnut fan slice was lovely and not too rich

Nice!. Love their orange hot chocolate but thats about it! Not a chocolate fanatic so not much to say otherwise!!! Must try their chocolates sometimes!

We enjoyed their delicious hazelnut fan slice over a cup of coffee. The slice comprised of hazelnut sponge with whole roasted hazelnuts, covered in a layer of hazelnut praline and Paillete feuilletine, then a layer of soft milk chocolate mousse.
Eat And Be Merry Crew
We tried the hazelnut mousse cake. A gorgeously smooth and rich hazelnut mousse. But the base of the cake was the best - crunchy, light and crispy it was delicious and fun to eat.
MSGCafeteria
This was everyone's favourite! Still with a rich chocolatey mousse but contrasted by crispy chocolate & raspberry interior.

A couple of weeks ago we were looking for somewhere to eat dessert and we found ourselves in the GĆ¢nache Chocolate lounge on Collins St. GĆ¢nache has an assortment of sweet things on their menu, including cake, macarons, drinksā€¦ and of course, chocolate! We ended up getting all four of these things for a bit of variety...

This is an inviting European style Chocolate Lounge with a rich brown decor complementing the wonderful range of chocolate treats on display...

GĆ¢nache Chocolate started out in Melbourne at the suburb of South Yarra, particularly less than ten metres away from my apartment. I'm so blessed to have such a beautiful and one of the best chocolate cafe right in front of my building. The chef that startedĀ GĆ¢nache Chocolate , known as Master Arno Backes was passionate and devoted his life to making superb quality chocolates. Along with his partner, Charles Bernard who had experiences with Pierre Herme, the both of them brought in the European flare as inspiration to the business. There is now twoĀ GĆ¢nache Chocolate outlets and I have been to both of them. I have managed to even take photos of both outlets one at South Yarra and the other at the Collins Street on the CBD. My favourite outlet is still the one at South Yarra because its less crowded and more convenient for me. Hazelnut Fan Slice, 8.50AUD GĆ¢nache Chocolate's most popular cake goes to the Hazelnut Fan Slice. Knowing that the Hazelnut cake has a bottom crispy praline crun

The macarons were pretty good, although the shell was a bit crumbly. I loved the layers in the cake. There was the smooth mousse, and a crunchy hazelnut praline layer, with a thin sponge. It was quite rich, and I think there was a tad too much mousse compared to praline, but the hazelnut flavour was spot on. I have been to Ganache for hot chocolate before, and I remember it being quite rich, but delicious - similar to their cake. Shall return to try more cakes soon.
I personally love the Hazelnut Fan Slice. It's definitely one of my favourite cakes! You MUST try it. It's to die for. I can never stop eating it the instant I take a bite. So addictive!

The cold chilly weather that Melbourne is currently experiencing, calls for rich, comfort food. Chocolate, certainly fits that bill. So when we finished classes one Friday, 11 of us headed off to satisfy our sweet tooth. I was a little dubious as to whether Ganache would fit all 11 of us, since from memory the frontage of the shop looked quite small. So, I was very relieved upon walking in to see quite an extension to the back of the shop. After perusing the menu for a while and deciding on our drinks, we quickly realised that it would actually be cheaper for us to share one large cake instead of ordering our own individual serves. So, that is exactly what we did. Third strike lucky and we ended up with this Triple Mousse Cake.....
MikhaelfBlue
Overall lovely flavours but the mousse a tad bit soft for our liking. That's just personal preference, though. Not sure if the mousse had melted or it was meant to be of that consistency, but dining in might be the better option.
The World Loves Melbourne
Ganache should be celebrated for its high standards and chocolate sublimeness and skill, and the fact that it's a Melbourne based chocolatier. These guys can hold their own against the best around the world. A European chocolate experience in Melbourne. The finest couverture chocolate. Check out the decadent chocolate bars and blocks, chocolate sculptures and other products, and chocolate drinks. And the sensational gift wrapping.

The platter (ganache panache) consisted of four chocolates, a scoop of gelato, a slice of cake and two macarons. I adored the strawberry and pistachio cake, with it's multiple layers all adding to the taste and texture of the whole, but I found the macarons to be slightly too gooey on the inside of the shell. I know I'm no connoisseur of macarons, but it did lead me to wonder if the 'chewy' part of these macarons was instead 'undercooked'. More research
Peach-Water
Now, whatever the cake was on the platter, it was so good, I think I was in heaven. The base of the cake was made of some biscuit which gave it a nice texture, and then on top of it it was a mousse like cake. Definitely a must try item at Chocolate Ganache! :)

Pricey but hey that's why you are there. Yes the service is snobby but at least there's service and it's fairly efficient so no complainants. Food is tasty but so damn small and did I mention a little bit pricey? Just go straight for a hot chocolate with an outdoor table and pretend to be a millionaire darling!

Poor food and worse service. Had quiche served up with liquid (from a frozen product) around the plate and it tasted cold

Trying to avoid making a fuss I took two bites but then decided I had to advise the waitress, who was very polite and reassuring

The owner then came up to me and insisted that the quiche was fine, and that the wetness is meant to be; according to him, the wetness is from the feta cheese.

I didn't feel it warranted a response.

I was then served the same piece of quiche which I had a bad taste of back to me!!

What restauranteur in their right mind would even conceive of doing this!??

Customers, be aware

Bad service.. Nice chocolates but very snobby service.

Had to ask for table to be cleared and cleaned... After being seated for 10 minutes. No service offered there after even when we kept looking at the waiters. Ended up leaving without purchasing anything.
Southern Belle
Welcoming. Dropped in for a quick cuppa and break from shopping, great place to be on a cold winter's day in Melbourne. Decor is european and very comfortable, and the chocolate variety on offer is impressive, with alternatives available if you are not a chocolate fan. Prices are reasonable - I enjoyed a chilli chocolate, had an excellent kick without being overdone. My friend had cinnamon chocolate, which she enjoyed greatly. Accompanying macarons served gratis were a lovely touch.

Who can resist a chocolate store?. After a big lunch and walking past the store on Collin st, I couldn't resist taking away some of their pralines to have later.
I tried their cinnamon praline, salt caramel dome and Valhrona praline which were all nice to treat myself in the afternoon with some tea.

Beautiful, divine cakes. Not too heavy or over powering. Excellent service. Highly recommended

We had the lemon tart and the brownie mousse slice.. was amazing! The service was lovely and welcoming. Will definitely come here again.

Nice spot to enjoy a drink. Such a refreshing strawberry and apple frappe! I really recommend it. Salted caramel and orange cake piece was also different and nice.

Divine!. Went here for dessert after dinner one night in the city. We ordered the brownie mousse cake slice and oh my, it was divine! The mousse was so silky soft and smooth and the brownie part was just delicious. I will definitely be back for another slice!

Ganache has a variety of dark chocolate but my favorite is the geranium dark chocolate and the dark chocolate truffle. Definitely give it a go if you are craving for something sweet.
Croissant Lady 91
A good change from Max Brennar. Lindt probably does better chocolates but Ganache has good service and drinks if youā€™re a real chocoholic. Their iced chocolate came with a choice of flavours for two gelato scoops. It was really thick and potent! The hazelnut gelato had very strong and intense hazelnut taste.

Service was good EXCEPT for one of the waitress which probably wasnā€™t having a good day. She spilt several glasses of drinks and brought the wrong orders.
KROQ
Delish and great service. Better than Brunettis in my opinion.

Yummy!. Evelyn and I had afternoon tea here today. Everything we had was really delicious. The staff were polite and helpful. Place itself is just what one would expect from an up market chocolate and coffee place. I had the brownie chocolate mousse cake and Evelyn had the berry chocolate mousse cake. Hazelnut hot chocolate (60%) and flat white were also great. Evelyn is a hot chocolate critic and this one passed with flying colours.
We will return.
AbdulHakim
Signature hot chocolate is super rich and memorable. Could not say the same about the macarons and sponge cake I tried.

Highly recommend. Desserts and hot chocolates were fantastic. Delicious and good quality. service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely like to go back.

Sweet heaven. Came here with my fiancƩ on a Saturday morning and shared some macaroons and chocolates. They were delicious, and they have a great range of flavours. Also had an iced coffee which was perfect.
Service is good but I think they should update the decor, the cafe looks a little bit to fast-food-chain to be cosy
Collywolly
Homage to cacao. Chocolates are certainly as pleasing on the eyes as they are on the palate. Not the cheapest chocolate but you get what you pay for.

One criticism: service was slow during our visit mainly due to a busy service

I study at cae on degraves and come to ganache during my breaks. Always looking for good macarons, the raspberry ones and overall have great flavour but lately have been found to be soggy. I need to try the hot chocolate though...

Hot Chocolate!. They make lovely thick hot chocolates here! The staff were very friendly and offered water immediately. The shop has a nice warm atmosphere with dark brown wooden furniture. A great place for a break from shopping!

Came here after a disappointing visit to the lindt cafe next door. Mint hot choc was yum. Didn't try macarons but have at the south yarra cafe and they are pretty good but small

Everything is good, drink, chocolate , cake and yes ice cream is really smooth. Service is excellent. A bit sad that they stop producing Swiss chocolate mouse cake. It s the best!!!

Amazing Cakes!. I frequent many chocolate places throughout the city & GanachƩ is definitely one of my favorites. I've tried almost all of the cakes & my two favorite ones are the Hazelnut Fan & the Brownie Slice. Both left me unbelievably satisfied. The Chili Hot Chocolate is also a highlight. Friendly staff as well as chocolatiers who you can tell really care about the product they are producing make this one of the finest places to treat one's self.

Slowly declining.. I love Ganache, I've been a long time devotee, even before Arno opened the store; after I attended one of his chocolate classes. But recently its been getting a bit lack lustre. Although their product is still undeniably good, I've found the service on a sharp decline everytime I go.
The tea that used to be so good, is now served half a teaspoon of leaves to a full pot of water everytime, and the waiter made me feel bad when I asked for more!
. At the end of the day they have a very small range of products, so how is it possible they still manage to eff it up everytime I go? When I told them that I still hadn't received my order, they didn't apologise or even ask what my order was!! Instead just got given the bill. I definitely felt like they couldn't really be bothered or needed my patronage anymore. Too sad, when it used to be such a warm friendly inviting place. And really, with so many other up and coming amazing chocolate places in Melbourne I'm happy to try elsewhere....

Bit too pricey side but like it for one thing.... The lavander macaroons are GORGEOUS! (And they arent even made on site XD)

The rest of the chocolate is a bit too expensive - i have had better for less - i think it needs more cocoa butter to bring out more flavour.

The other flavour macaroons taste samey - the flavour is weak, its just sugar. I would say that is the main problem with this place - too much sugar, too little flavour. I dont know if theyre trying to be subtle, but im not interested in trying other flavours if they taste the same. Its ment to be rich, full bodied chocolate so it needs a taste to match.

But lavander ones are beautiful and must be tried. Its worth the thumbs up for that one biscuit. I'm in love!

Staff are friendly but a bit too over the top. I want to eat my on biscuit, just grab the tongs and give it too me, i dont need the cotton glove, tongs and bag. May just take me less time to eat it i think XD It's obviously what they're told to do, not the staff themselves.
Chomps All Day Long
Yum. This is my fave place for dessert on a friday night! The staff are always very accommodating and friendly, atmosphere is cozy and welcoming and I love all the chocolate displays. The hazelnut fan slice is to die for, and I love the little hazelnut cookie that comes with coffee and hot chocolate. Much better than Lindt cafe a few doors down!!!

Macarons were disappointing. While the flavours were different (I had a fluffy duck, as in the cocktail) they were too sweet and didn't allow the flavours to come through. The shells were also hollow. The caramel and chocolate was so unpleasant I didn't finish it.
Hungry Biddy
Friendly waiter, brought us menu immediately. Ordered raspberry chocolate mousse which was amazing, you could taste the really good quality chocolate in it and it had the perfect amount of raspberry. Also ordered winter spice hot chocate. I would go back many times for it, I am craving anothe one already! Perfect amount of chilli and rich and warming spices. Equally balanced combination which I loved and I don't usually like spiced or chilli chocolate!
Simon King
Its okay. Not spectacular, but not at all unpleasant. The range is in the same vain as Lindt Cafe and Koko Black
Jason Bradley
Hmmm. I was handed my lil piece of caramel and chocolate for a post lunch sugar rush straight from the waiters hand to mine. excuse me can i please have a serviette or bag next time?
Denny
I picked up the Passionfruit, Hazelnut and Coffee and they all had quite a good taste and texture and just how I like them to be.

Their macaroon is not the best but their chocolates and ice cream are to die for!

The macarons were disappointing. They tasted like theyā€™ve been left out on the counter for days, losing their freshness. The texture was horrible and the flavours werenā€™t impressive either.

When we rocked up to the entrance, we were met with the manager of the shop who was friendly and also a sea of SMILING rabbits (as Easter is round the corner, but they looked kind of freaky to me). We were shown to a corner seat which was rather crammed and uncomfortable. When the table next to us was cleared, we hurriedly moved over just to have more room and breathing space.

Visiting Ganache Chocolate after work was simply wonderful. Its calm, warm atmosphere with the scent of chocolate in the air made me feel relaxed after a long day at work. Located a couple of shops away from their competitor, Lindt Cafe, Ganache Chocolate

Ganache Chocolate is one of those places that I've known for years, and just never wrote about on this blog because I kind of take it for granted. It is the place I go to when I need an awesome cake to bring to a party.

Melbourne is Australiaā€™sĀ Chocolate Capital! In fact itā€™s our dessertsĀ capital! Koko Black, The Little Royal etc etcā€¦ One of our favourite chocolate shop isĀ Ganache ! We always travel to theirĀ South YarraĀ shop for a cup of soothing hot chocolate after shopping atĀ Chapel Street . When we heard they now have a cafe in the Melbourne CBD, we canā€™t wait to go! TheirĀ Classic Hot ChocolateĀ ($6) is the BEST so far we tried in Australia! Yes! Better thanĀ Koko Blackā€™s too! Oh myā€¦ I wish we have similar chocolate cafe in Brisbane or Gold Coast!!! Rich, smooth, silky! Itā€™s made with 60% dark chocolate, not too bitter not too sweet. Perfect We were so full after all the meals in the short trip and sadly couldnā€™t fit any more desserts so we just picked aĀ Belgian TruffleĀ and aĀ Raspberry Macaron .Ā Little MonsterĀ loved the macaron so much! I had the chocolate truffle, it was nice but I think theĀ Koko Blackā€™sĀ one is smoother. Ganache Chocolate Address:Ā 245 Collins St Melbourne CBD VIC3

There are a few of these scattered around the place, including one tucked in between a strip of Collins Street shops near T&Co.Ā They compete closely to Lindt, but they have first mover's advantage and people around here are used to going.Ā T brought me some macarons which I shared with the office and our 101 neighbors.Ā The fact that we had macarons to nibble on was in itself a wonderful treat. Although there were mixed opinions on how they tasted.Ā The white vanilla one was loved by R, and B enjoyed the purple one whilst S found it a tad too sweet. I sampled a few bits of the dark fuchsia and the dark green, and found both a bit light on the flavoring.
