Great French restaurant in the heart of Melbourne. Genuine French food, good choice of wines and typical French service. Loved the ambiance, a bit reminiscent of a French bistro.
Staff there were very polite and professional. Loved everything especially the duck breast. Duck was tender, moist and flavoursome and the cabbage on the side was super yummy. my friend ordered the onion soup and it's the best he's ever had. Escargots were aromatic and delicious, cooked to perfection. Will definitely come back again
Came to try Bergerac food for the first time. It was on Thursday night but it was not busy. I ordered Duck Config which was nicely cooked but would have likes more sauce as I’m a sauce lover. Finished the night with Creme Brûlée which was quite a generous portion. I seldom have french cuisine so not sure if it’s authentic but it certainly felt quite eggy. Overall, it’s still a pleasant experience for me. Lastly I must say I love the complimentary bread that was served before the meal as its so fresh till we finished two bowls of it.
This is one of my favorite french restaurant in melborune. they have variety of traditional local french dishes.
Good portion size and good price.
Have been to Bergerac twice, once at the original location on King St, and once at the new Lonsdale restaurant. Both times with my large family and every time we were treated with great, friendly service. The latest visit, I was worried I had made the booking too late (Sunday morning for dinner that night for a group of 14) but once I enquired online, someone called back immediately. The waitress was very attentive and was patient with my parents (who aren’t used to French cuisine) and my toddler nieces (who often walked around the table to say hello to family members). While I wouldn’t necessarily identify it as a “family restaurant”, it definitely was welcoming. Food and drink orders were taken, served and removed at appropriate times and wasn’t overbearing or pushed for more drinks. (Side note: thank you dear waitress, for writing it down and not trying to commit it all to memory; not a fan of that style!) Food in the photos were only a quarter of what was ordered but each dish was cooked well and delicious!! Nailed the confit duck and rare steaks :) I also love the added little details such as the room temperature, spreadable butter and the bread refills. I have another group function there this weekend pending confirmation but but I’m already so excited to be ordering a different dish. Priced well and great quality French food that’s not intimidating or pretentious. Highly recommend for a great night out!
I attended a work Christmas function at Bergerac. I ordered the steak tartare as an entree. The dish was deliciously balanced and the meat was extremely tender. I ordered the confit duck thigh for the main course. The duck was perfectly cooked and succulent. Service was fantastic and staff went over and above to cater to us.
Mmmmm... French cuisine isn't my usual to-go, however due to a special occasion, I visited Bergerac with a few mates a while ago.
My dining experience at Bergerac was pretty unique, we went there for dinner and the place was fairly vacant. Unique in a way that the staff who served us were all French and their customer service was attentive and sincere. They were patient in briefing us through the menu (and their special menu) and gave us adequate time and space for us to decide what to order.
We eventually got ourselves a few entrées to share and got some Moscato to compliment our dishes. We thought being at a French restaurant also meant that we should get ourselves some French fries (no puns intended) and their fries were pretty delicious too.
The mains came in big portions (especially for the duck confit) and they tasted good. I wouldn't go into details of how each dish tasted like but for the price that you would pay at restaurants as such, I would say it is worth it regardless (:
A traditional French restaurant serving up classic French food. The menu is very vast with meat, duck and seafood. I had the steak aux deux poivres 250gm eye fillet which was a beautiful piece of meat. Each bite was tender and perfectly cooked to medium. The creme brûlée was a perfect way to end the meal and I could eat a bowl of this stuff. We also shared a bottle of French red wine. Warm atmosphere and French speaking waiters makes for a pleasant dining experience.
My first experience with Bergerac was many years ago when the restaurant was still located on Melbourne's King Street. I was quite disappointed when I went to visit them again, only to find that they were no longer there. However, while looking for new restaurants in the city I happened to stumble upon their new Lonsdale Street location. Eager to try them again, I dropped my plans and visited them for dinner soon after.

Was very impressed with this French restaurant. The food is authentic, the staff very friendly.
The escargot was delicious, the charcuterie placate, the scallops and the prawn risotto were fantastic!
Great Oyster, it happened to be the Chef’s suggestion with Tasmanian style. The taste for the steak is not as expected with too much black peppers. The overall experience is great, with the services and the meal. Suggested to have it with your partner or lover😄
I never had such exotic desserts before 😍
They were so yummmmm and different.
We just tried sautéed mushrooms and desserts and I would definitely go again.
