Review Manchester Press - Melbourne

Had a great breakfast at the Manchester Press! The food is absolutely delicious and there is literally something on the menu for everyone! The coffee is also great! We had an iced coffee and a mocha, both where really good! The staff we very friendly and the cafe it’s self was really pretty! 5/5 stars from me

I’ve visited Manchester Press over the years and every time the bagels were consistently fresh and the fillings delicious. Loved the sweet bagel option also; the blueberry bagel combined wth berries and cream were simple yet divine. Coffee was pretty decent.

First, I love the location! Very Melbournian, hidden in a small alley in warehouse style place. Coffee was great and service was excellent. We tried the philly steak and grilled chorizo bagels. The chilly jam on the chorizo bagels was a little too sweet.

A stop for late lunch that was highlighted by the coffee, wow! I can’t think of another that comes to mind. Nice space considering the location down the ally way. The food was unfortunately not as good. The actual bread of the bagels wasn’t really notable for mouth feel or taste. The menu had a few unique sounding options but my choice, the eggplant, was smothered in yogurt so felt like it was a lacking contrast in texture as a meal.

Nice and cozy place tucked away at the alley. The service was really good, the waiter being very polite and sincere. I ordered blueberry bagel and ice latte which taste pretty good except the avosmash was a lil bland. Overall gd exp!

a bagel here is so good! coffee is lovely and smell good. the price is good too. friendly staff, great atmosplere

Bagels are high quality and delicious. Chai is brewed in house using their own blend of leaves - so creamy with the perfect harmony of spices. Staff are super friendly. Ordered a chai latte but forgot to ask for soy milk bc unfortunately am lactose intolerant and they were kind enough to make a new batch free of charge!

To call it a bad experience is an understatement. FOOD: The bagels were fine. Avo smash was quite tasteless overall without the feta. Bacon and maple bagel was good however and I enjoyed it. SERVICE: Here’s where the one star rating starts. Me calling the service bad is considered a compliment. Wrong coffee served and all they did was put some cocoa powder and choc sauce into my coffee, was rudely told to “move” when they wanted to clean the table even though I was going out of the way and finally, when I asked for a tax invoice and whether there were physical copies, someone told me “we’re trying to save the planet”. I didn’t come for snarky comments or subpar service. Do better. Overall, the food was fine but everything about the service is abhorrent. Paying $23 for bagels is fine to me if the whole experience is pleasant but I’m appalled by the service. Will not be returning.

Hidden down a laneway in the heart of the CBD is Manchester Press - the perfect spot for coffee or if you're feeling like bagels/toasties for lunch.

We had the avo smash bagels and although a litle expensive, they were a huge portion size. I'd be keen to try one of the sweet ones next time.

Service was good but nothing special, the staff aren't overly friendly. Decor is very earthy and what I'd call 'Melbourne vibes' where you can get good photos.

Absolutely loved the vibe of the place, industrial and hidden. Walking into the little lane always makes for cute photo walls with the little hanging plants. Bagels were delicious, ordered the mixed berry bagel although I felt there was too much mascarpone for the bagel and hence I had to waste some (felt bad) but NOT complaining. It was fun to sift through for the berries in the mascarpone. Came after a year or so and the mixed berry bagel still remains my favourite!! I recommend ordering one savoury and one sweet bagel if coming in with a friend so you can have half of each and keep a balanced meal :) The girl who served us was very polite!

I love the coffee here. It's delicious. The bagels are pretty good too but it's quite expensive. The only downside is the staff can be pretty rude/dismissive. They don't really offer that friendly, smiley type of service. Which is kind of a shame. But again, if you just want good coffee, definitely recommend.
Sunny Days Melbourne
We visited Manchester Press on a really hot day but even though the venue was busy, it was very nice and cool on the inside. We had:

Pulled Jackfruit bagel - this was really good. It was served warm and the smokey BBQ flavour was delicious!

Lox bagel - there was a generous amount of smoked salmon on the beautiful bagel. The capers, cream cheese and onions went well with the fish.

Service was efficient and pleasant. Definitely another place to keep coming back to!

never goin’ to revisit this place!!
Sense Of Food
🍇 acai bowl
🏚: Manchester Press
📍: Rankins Lane, Melbourne
💵: $16AUD
————————————————————
📝: Named after a printing press that once occupied the venue, Manchester Press is now one of Melbourne’s hottest brunch spots. It has high ceilings, barred windows and an exposed-brick façade. The interior is softened by a combination of low-hanging lampshades and wooden tables with iron seats.

❤️: Manchester Press focuses on consistent coffee. As for food, compared to some cafes this offering might seem narrow, but the menu here is all about reliability, and Manchester Press nails it. Say for the acai bowl, it can be considered as one of the best. Creamy and mellow sweet blend that cuts through the acidic sourness of seasonal fruits.

Staff are really rude and no hospitality at all. I don’t why the owner hire this special “male staff with yellow coloured hair” to damage or promote this business?
Eunice Tan
Unfriendly staff. This dude with blonde hair was being super rude to us. Poured water all over our table and over my mom but did not apologize at all. Instead of apologising he mumbled and said something sarcastic to us. Definitely will not come back again and will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Manchester Press, please fix the attitude of your staffs.

Wonderful bagels and coffee.
Chen Shi
Burnt coffee. Innovative but failed bacon banana on bagel with popcorn and syrup. 50 for 2 ppl total waste of money
Brad Murphy
Hopeless staff forgot our order. After waiting for 40 min I finally got the attention of the waiter that took our order to ask why it was taking so long, he went to the kitchen to check and was never to be seen again. Someone else came over to inform us our order was not put into the kitchen.
Rogan.mannix
It typically takes something pretty egregious for me to leave a bad review, in fact, if memory serves it might even be my first. A colleague and I slipped into Manchester Press for lunch today, we were seated on a shared table and our order was taken promptly. Waiter took the menus, left, all seemed right in the world. Forty-five minutes of watching people come and go before I peered over at the kitchen to see where we were at only to see no ordering slip being worked on, nothing being prepared. Called the same waiter over to check up, they promptly left to see what the problem was - we got a different waiter back to ask us if we'd like to order and that our previous order had not been entered. Coffees on the house, apparently - might have been nice if it wasn't 1:30pm and at least one of us had ordered a coffee. Decided against re-ordering as work might not appreciate a lunch break stretching over one and a half hours. Really disappointing.

Visited this cafe lately. Had avocado smash bagel $19 which is overpriced. Cuban sandwich $17 tasted better than bagel. Staff shown lack of interest with the sitting request from customers. Customers having to wait and called staffs to order food and drink.

Famous for their simplicity.

FOOD: It was kind of a glorified make it yourself sandwich but the ingredients were good and fresh! The bagel was done perfectly and toasted well, the smoked salmon was an AMAZING portion and also tasted really good and the cream cheese was good too! Overall, it’s pretty good for a simple bagel sandwich

COFFEE: Their coffee, on the other hand, is life changing. It was amazing and creamy but the coffee flavour still shone through spectacularly and I LOVED it!!

SERVICE: Okay I guess. At times, it felt about unwelcoming and it felt like they constantly wanted to shoo you out despite there not being a line.

Overall, Manchester Press is a good place in CBD to get your bagel cravings.
FoodieInMel
Cute cafe hidden in the alley way in the city, the coffee was really good, however there do not have many option on the menu, which is a bit disappointed.
Vizual.Eater
Really good bagels. The Bocconcini was delicious and filling. The Lox had a generous amount of smoked salmon and flavours of dill, cream cheese, red onion and capers always is a match made in heaven. It’s a no fuss casual restaurant and the food is a reflection of that environment also. They’re consistent, I haven’t had a bad bagel at Manchester Press and I doubt I ever will.

This is my first visit to Manchester Press. I'm a bagel lover and am very impressed with the texture of the bagels. I had the bacon, maple & banana on a blueberry bagel and this is indeed a very interesting yet delicious combo. My friend had the NY Lox bagel and she's surprised by the generous amount of salmon that was given. I ordered a skinny flat white but it was just average. Overall, I had an enjoyable meal and would recommend it to any bagel lovers!
Cmzajicek
In a sea of bagels for me the bircher stood out on the menu and it did not disappoint!! It was so flavoursome and filling (nice large portion)! The coffee was good too and the service very attentive and pleasant. My colleague had a bagel and really enjoyed it too! Highly recommend this place!
Eatenbymae
Yummy bagels. Soft fluffy blueberry bagel was the perfect start to my morning. Can't ask for more given the perfect latte art on my hot chocolate. Pretty damn good breakfast I would say.
Melb_Belly
Bagels were great. The texture was soft yet dense. The toppings are generous and the sides of pretzel and pickle was a welcoming surprise.

The acai was excellent. Tasted spot on and definitely insta worthy.

Service was a hit and miss. One guy basically threw a coffee on the table before walking off and when we asked for some forks for the table the staff seemed perplexed what a fork was...
Quince And Cheese
I don't love Manchester press but I like it. Their coffee is great and I enjoy the space when it's not peak lunch or morning rush. The bagels are nice but pricy and not as good as what I can get elsewhere, in my opinion.
Morgs71
Serving up some of the best bagels in Melbourne, Manchester Press is one of those hidden gems down one of the CBDs famous laneways. The queues here can be quite long, so be prepared to wait for a table, particularly around peak times.

It's a fairly large space, comfortable and with a buzzing atmosphere. The menu does focus mainly on coffee and bagels, and both the sweet and savoury offerings are hard to beat. Serves are generous, and everything is fresh and delicious.
Service is quick and friendly which helps to make the experience so good.

Sticking to one thing, and doing it well is a model that more restaurants could take note of; and in this case, Manchester Press has nailed delivering tasty and innovative bagels to hoards of hungry diners for years.

My bf and I came here for breakfast, he ordered the Philly cheesesteak bagel and I ordered the New York lox bagel. The service was a bit slow, and when the food came we weren’t blown away. The bagels were chewy, the flavors were okay, but I did like the addition of a variety of pickles. Coffee was pretty good though.
Brandon Huang
Cafes are pretty much the same everywhere you go, apparently. The coffee was meh, at least for Melbourne (still miles better than anything we get across the ditch) and the food was okay. Cool decor, friendly staff, and calm vibes but nothing standout - I’d come back for a look around but might just opt to head somewhere else if I’m around the area.

Manchester press is a classic coffee shop on the must try list of coffee shops in Melbourne.. we came here one morning and we tried their mixed berry bagel and also the bacon, maple & banana bagel.. the bagels here were not as fluffy as I thought it would be.. it was rather solid and hard.. so it wasn’t as enjoyable.. I also wasn’t impressed with their mascarpone berry spread..
The price was also pretty steep and the berry bagels will set you back about $18..
Coffees were pretty decent though.. the blend used was very aromatic..
Not the most impressed and might come back only if I was really desperate for some bagels..
Katielangeee
Really cool atmosphere, lots of seating and a variety of coffee choices, food menu is quite limited. However all of the bagels can be done gluten free. Food came quickly, but was a little underwhelming, Philly cheese steak option was average however the gluten free bagel was tasty.
FoodiesCourtyard
Surprisedly only 5 mins wait around 11am Saturday. One of the best Açaí bowl I’ve had in MEL. Fresh seasonal fruit, coconut flake, homemade granola as topping.
Danielle
Ordered the NY Lox, Zucchini&Beet, Mixed Berry. Rather generous w the salmon & mascarpone. However, actually went there for their bagels but was slightly disappointed. Bagels were rather dry & hard & toppings totally overpowered the bagels.
Dalina
Lovely and welcoming staff, fantastic portion sizes and the open bagels were perfect. Ordered the NY Lox and Avocado Smash, could not fault at all. Coffee was lovely as well!
Joey Zhang
Western food usually don't fit chinese stomach, but these bagels taste great, worth a try for those who don't often have western brunch. Coffee is also great, but no bad coffee in Melbourne anyway.
Shaneel Sharma
We were turned away from the door just because we had iced coffee from another cafe. We came for food so this rule is strange and entirely out of character for a Melbourne cafe! I like good coffee so I should be able to choose to have coffee from elsewhere and food from another cafe. Disappointed.
Pratik Kataria
The coffee here is outstanding. The servers here are kind and polite. Do try the latte or the flat white. It is located in a by lane, but it's definitely worth the visit .
Stella
ordered the grilled zucchini and beetroot open bagel and it was so clean tasting and good, definitely would come back just for that! my friend ordered the smoked salmon one and i have to say that they are rather generous w the salmon!

This place is tucked away just 200m away from the Emporium, Melbourne CBD.

Order was the chorizo open bagel, honey & ricotta open bagel. The chorizo bagel was fresh and tasty, and the pickled veges offset the saltiness of the chorizo well. Bagels also remarkably consistent/their wholesale supplier is awesome. The honey and ricotta bagel was nice, but the feedback from the wife and friend who both ordered the same dish was ultimately the same. It needs more honey.

Macha latte could have a stronger macha taste, but that's a subjective item of contention. My coffee was sadly noticeably bitter. I usually take zero sugar, but had to stick in 2 teaspoons to make it palate-able. This was a huge disappointment for me, after having an awesome coffee at The Hardware Societe, the previous day.

I last visited Manchester Press in 2013, and was blown away by the coffee back then. However, this recent visit to this venue failed to take me down memory lane

I work around the corner and myself and two colleagues went here on our 20 minute break. We left our food at work because we thought that there would be plenty of time to order a takeaway coffee and come back to eat, right? Wrong.
The girl at the register (long dark hair) ignored us and talked to a friend for a while after she'd ordered. After finally drawing her attention to us, my friend was charged EIGHT DOLLARS for a pour over coffee. After taking our order we were rudely told to wait out the front to make room in the cafe. Sure, no worries.
So we waited. And waited. And waited. 2/3 coffees came out after some delay, but the overpriced pour over didn't.
FIFTEEN minutes had passed and her coffee still hadn't arrived, so she went inside to inquire, to be told, "Oh, he's just making it now." Sorry? Why did that take so long?? My friend said she didn't have time to wait so she asked for a batch brew instead, which they proceeded to pour into a small cup (worth $4).
So not only had we lost our entire 20 min break and didn't have time to eat when we got back, we were also ripped off and given the wrong order. Pathetic.

A busy little cafe which is perfect for coffee, breakfast and brunch! Popular with locals and tourists alike!

Stripped back walls and ceiling with exposed lights, and a cutesy and colourful mural on one wall. Wooden tables varying in height and size with mismatched chairs and stools. They don't take bookings so you may have to wait for a table. Larger tables are communal to maximise space.

I got the mixed berry bagel (blueberry bagel, mixed berry mascarpone, fresh berries & pistachio dust) which was so good but so filling!
Juhi- Culture And Cuisine
Manchester press is fairly unique to other places around Melbourne but in my opinion, is slightly overrated.

I ordered the eggplant bagel and wasn't extremely impressed. I found the bagel tasty but extremely oily.

The coffee was pretty delicious and the service was great too!

Overall, a one off place for me.
Rae
Menu pretty much all bagels with different toppings. And they don’t do eggs. So not my type of breakfast food. But the coffee is good especially the cold brew. Good location with nice staff and fit out.
Hsu Hsin Mei
I’ve been here six years ago and I love there meal but the coffee latte is not enough strong for me, but the filter is good. Live there decor and the service is good.

Awesome cafe with unpretentious atmosphere and friendly staff. The majority of dishes are served in a bagel either open or closed style. If you're not keen on a bagel then your options may be limited. I had the Reuben bagel which was great and had a very generous serving of pastrami. Great place for an inner city breakfast

Excellent coffee shop in Melbourne CBD. I like the bagels, bacon. Service was friendly and the staff was very welcoming and nice. The food was really good, It was amazing. Also tried the dirty matcha latte and that was very interesting. Would love to go come here again.

The food is always very yum and efficient service. However staff can come across as pretentious. My friends order was mistaken 3 times, and a hair was found in one of the meals. The staff were not apologetic and left us feeling very annoyed.

I’ve been here 3 times now and all 3 times I’ve come back for the drinks and the berry bagel. Amazing bagels however I did remember it being spittle sweeter the previous time. Highly rated!
HildaLuv2Eat
Tried their NY Reuben and Mixed Berries bagel... the beef brisket of the Reuben was very tender with the fat, the pickles and mustard gave a tangy taste but I would suggest to go with more sauce, mine was a little bit dry. Mixed Berries has my favorite combination of blueberry bagel, mixed berries and mascarpone! I absolutely love the sweet taste of the bagel and the generous amount of mascarpone, it feels so satisfying having the whole thing!

Manchester press, situated in a gorgeous Melbourne laneway is the go to for a delicious breakfast with a bagel. The menu is extensive and provides many vegan and vegetarian options to cater for all. Both the Bircher and the smashed avocado were delicious accompanied with matcha and chai lattes. If you fancy a bagel and a coffee or chai and you are in the area, Manchester press shouldn’t be missed and certainly won’t disappoint.

Came across this shop when researching for best coffee in Melbourne. We were not disappointed by it's ice latte. Strong aromatic coffee. Definitely worth a try.

Headed here for brunch, hidden down a lane way it’s a bit tricky to find. Food was good, the bagel with the berries looked so delicious when it came out, I had food envy. I enjoyed my bagel with chorizo and olive. Really tasty chai latte, coffee was pretty strong according to my other half. A nice chilled vibe and some gorgeous floral arrangements on the tables. A nice spot for a breakfast treat.

I came across this place when I searched for a good bagel place in Melbourne. I've been here 3 times. Every time I went, I had to wait for the table because they are quite popular. This cafe in a little lane that you can miss if you don't look carefully.

They have open bagel / closed bagel. I've tried both and my favourite one was the pork shoulder! so delicious!!! I like the fact that they serve all bagel with pretzel on the side.
Comfy Chairs
The little pickled veggies that come as a side are awesome. Bagels are yum. Queuing up is very Melbourne so expect to wait but it’s worth it. Really interesting place and a unique Melbourne experience. Have to go at least once. Don’t forget to put your name on the list at the door.
Alyssa Neiva
The salmon on the NY Lox is a bit too salty but great meal overall. Delicious chai latte with enough spiciness. Visited on a Monday morning and service was impeccable.
Marge77
Wow Wow Wow! Best bagels ever. Service was fantastic. Coffee great. I had the chorizo and olive bagel and it was delicious. I came back the next day and had the smoked salmon bagel and just as good. The vibe and atmosphere 10/10. manchester press is hidden away and easy to miss, but I’m so glad a stumbled across this beauty.

Great bagels - I love that they come with pretzels. Always busy, and sometimes there is a line outside. Their matcha latte was awesome, and I loved the cute latte art. A great brunch spot.

Sunday brunch at this hidden gem. It did took a while to find this place but it was worth it.

I ordered NY Lox (open bagel) which had Smoked salmon, baby capers, red onion and dill dream cheese. The bagel was fresh and it felt like it made everything else in the dish taste better.

Friendly staff even though the guy forgot to get our coffee and we had to remind them 30mins later. They did apologize and served us free coffee.

Overall it was a good experience and I am going there again, after all it is named after my favorite club (Manchester United)

Through word of mouth, we had decided to visit Manchester Press. Here's what we had!

Pickle'd pork - Imagine a juicy serving of pulled pork in between two pieces of bagels with apple sauce and slaw! Sounds good right? Yep, it sounded as good as it looks with the pulled pork juices dripping into my mouth and the softness of the heated up bagel crunching inside. My mouth was truly pleased with this! The serving of pretzels as sides was an interesting concept which I enjoyed!

NY reuben - a nice thick piece of beef brisket pastrami with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and American mustard, this baby was just too good! The beef brisket pastrami was full of flavors and so juicy inside. The addition of the melted Swiss cheese made the experience even better It felt like I was eating a burger but a bagel version instead!

Overall, we were pleased with our experience and would visit again to try the rest of their bagels!
Some Bunee Loves Food
Rainbow bagels! One with maple Matcha mascapone, fresh strawberries and Persian vanilla fairy floss, and the other bagel with blueberry & lemon cream cheeserolled in biscuit crumbs. The matcha latte was really nice, however both the bagels were a bit disappointing as there were no Matcha flavour in the cream cheese and the maple had a strong burnt flavor to it.

Peanut butter hot chocolate and cappuccino. So creamy, thick and delicious with bits of nuts, oh and really nice art!
Mustard
I've visited here a few times now and have always enjoyed their coffee and bagels. It used to be the place to get a coffee with some great latte art, past couple of times I've visited it came with your standard entry level art. Just depends on the barrister you get on the day. Regardless however I had an amazing strong latte, roasty aroma and real smooth.

For bagel I went for one of their sweet/savory bacon, maple & banana which went well with my bitter coffee. Their blueberry bagel had a nice chew to it, a bit of saltiness from the bacon and sweetness from bananas and maple syrup. The mascarpone binded everything together with its creaminess, delicious.

Although I did enjoy my dish others at the table had a couple of criticisms. In the NY Reuben the pastrami wasn't as soft as pastrami should be, biting into it your teeth should just slide right through. Also the Pickled Pork the pickle juice was not fully drained and resulted to a damp bagel. I did not personally experience this and left happy like I have the past few times I've visited.

Manchester Press always has a special place in my bagel heart, one of the few cafes I've originally visited and have continually returned to.

coffee is great . Food is very dry . Not really a good experience. Prefer hardware society . Very quick service . Food tastes like from a can .

Came here for brunch , nice place not so long to wait. I had affogato and salmon bagel. Both were tasty and on point and good coffee. Go there if hardware lane is busy . It will be worth it. Did not give 5 because there are better places. Having said that it is within top 10.

Points for: great coffee, delicious bagels

Centrally located but still has that industrial-warehouse feel, Manchester Press has been popular for years.

The NY Reuben bagel came hot and toasted, with a nice wad of pastrami and sauerkraut to balance it out. Love the pretzels and pickle that comes with it.

The coffee is nice and strong with good body and rounded flavours.

Very casual atmosphere with a slight hipster vibe, Manchester Press is a great spot for lunch or weekend brunch.

I am infatuated with Manchester Press, purveyor of fantastical and inappropriately overstuffed bagel deliciousness.

Literally loved it long time, it’s been a Melbourne institution from the moment it opened back when I was still an innocent wee thing in University.

Still much in love. 💙
Tina Fong Wai Chin
Quite disappointing!! Waited more than 30mins for a mixed berry bagel! And it was not worth the wait! The flavours were not there! It was quite tasteless for the exception of a few fresh berries! When you take into consideration the time you wait to be served and cost of the bagel-its really disappointing!
Jordan Morris
I personally visited the Manchester Press last year and loved it! This time was a little different. The coffee and food was of a high standard however the service did not meet the same high level. Throughout our visit this morning we were greeted by a waiter that did not smile, was short and sharp and didn’t even say more than one word to us. She frowned the entire time and had left us to call her over 15mins after we had arrived just to Place our food orders. That was the last we saw of her and I even felt like she had snatched the menu out of my hand halfway through reading my menu item. Very uncomfortable experience
Daisy
I love bagels, bacon, bananas and popcorn individually so I thought I’d try this. It was alright in terms of flavour, I just didn’t like how difficult it was to get everything in in one mouthful. Service was friendly as usual. We sat along the bench against the wall and had no choice given how busy it was, but I didn’t like the cramped space and facing the wall while eating. Despite the uncomfortable seating and the wait (which is expected at any cafe on the weekend), I still highly recommend Manchester Press and look forward to eating there again.

Came here for breakfast on a Wednesday morning and wasn’t busy. The staff were very welcoming and nice. The food was really good, but nothing too special. It was amazing but wasn’t bad either. The exterior of the place was however amazing. It is in such a cute little Lane way and great for photos. If you like the look of cafes more than the food, then come here. Got the peanut butter hot chocolate and it was really yummy. Overall great place!!
Eunifoodie
The sweet bagels here are so good! I had the maple bacon and banana bagel and I absolutely loved it. I tried the dirty matcha latte and that was very interesting.
Lily
Managed to come here on a Friday for lunch, busy enough but could get a table immediately. I ordered the NY Lox (salmon) bagel and it was really good! A nice balance of taste from the cream cheese, onions, and salmon. Matcha latte was not bad as well. Lovey industrial concept and attentive service. Definitely recommend this!
Foods Storybooks
I ordered flat white single origin coffee with soy milk & nutella cookies. The coffee bean was the fruity ones and it matched with the soy milk, it didn’t taste that strong and the soy milk didn’t overpower the coffee. The cookies was sweet and delicious though some friends say that it’s too sweet.
Eating Away Melbourne
Tucked in a laneway in the city, Manchester Press is famous for its bagels. If you like open bagels with a variety of toppings to choose from then you are in for a treat. I have been multiples times in the past years and its always been good. Coffees and juices are really nice as well. The industrial style also gives you a cool vibe! Worth a try!
Mary D
Delicious bagle sandwiches!! I prefer NY style (hard one) so, for me, bagle wasn’t perfect.
But still it was delicious!!
Reuben sandwich was super gorgeous!!
Tilly Kooy
Have been to Manchester Press a few times and it has always been lovely. The food is reasonably priced and absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere is lovely and the decoration is inviting. We were slightly disappointed because the orange juice that we ordered was not freshly juiced as it has been in the past. Overall it was a great experience and we will be back 😊
Karina J
Coffee was good- smooth with pleasant flavours. Nothing particularly special and the milk could’ve been hotter. Overall it was nice though.
Meg Kooy
Went here with my family for lunch. We all had the BBQ pulled pork bagel and a large glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. It was all so delicious! Would definitely return. It was well worth the wait.
Robot.tomato.space
I give this place 4.5. Situated in a Melbourne laneway with a funky industrial/warehouse style of setup, Manchester Press is a must- go place for bagel lovers. Great coffee made with one of the best coffee roasters - ONA coffee. Casual and welcoming environment with friendly staff and services.

Went here ages ago and it was really nice. Quite expensive although it is right in the CBD so it’s expected. Had the poached eggs & avo on a bagel which was delicious. There coffee was also really nice. Definitely hit them up
Split The Bill
Love the food here its cheap and coffee is always delicious. Staff are lovely and interesting menu. Great CBD location, nice space but often very busy.

@Manchester is one of my favorite coffee shops and there are amazing bagels in town! Take a look at this one. 🍴
1 ️⃣ Open Bagel Avocado and Fetta are minced
I think they might add an entire avocado! So rich! Without a strong taste, it really brings me the original taste of food!
Bagels are not hard and dry! Not bad!
👏🏻👏🏻
2️⃣closed bagels, pulled pork
It sounds funny because it has meat! 🙈 It offers 14 hours of barbecue to pull pork, coleslaw, pickles and Jalapeño. All the genomes are perfectly matched! Stunning texture! like it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
3️⃣ Matcha Latte: 🍵
Take a look at this coffee art! Wow! A heart-shaped cat! Really cute, right? It is rich without any pink texture! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
4️⃣Soylatte☕️
It does not make sense to miss coffee at this amazing coffee spot! Order the soybean latte as always! Nice foam, mild espresso, good temperature!
. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Home to tasty bagels, we ordered the vegan bagel and it was lovely although would have liked a bit more filling. Very busy on a Saturday so service was a little slow.
Sabrina (@nourishfulsabrina)
Good food, been there a couple of times, only down side is that there’s often quite a wait and food can take a while to come out but otherwise it’s pretty good.
Elaine Ongy
By far the best coffee we've had in Melbourne. Strong and not too acidic. Highly recommended by friends and I'll definitely recommend it next time someones in Melbourne.
Hungry Pea
I think I had the best breakfast of my life here.
Firstly, awesome vibes & decor, great coffee & friendly staff. I had the grilled eggplant bagel and oh my lord it was incredible. Fresh, soft but crisp bagel, amazing flavours that just worked so well together. The eggplant was tops and the saurcraut brought it all together. Thoroughly recommend coming here!!!

Today, I headed over to Manchester Press. I haven’t heard great reviews about the place, so I thought I’d see for myself what it’s like.

It’s tucked away off on a little lane on Bourke St. From the outside, you can already hear the hustle and bustle of the café. My first impression was that the café was very nicely layout. It was a comfortable environment, and we were greeted very promptly.

Unfortunately, the photos on Zomato indicated the small portion size, and the portion sizes were indeed very small. Although my friend was left full, I wasn’t at all. I ordered the Korean smoked chicken bagel. It can with a side of salad. The presentation was extremely simple, which wasn’t ideal for me as I enjoy brunch aesthetics. However, the bagel tasted quite nice, (even though it was quite messy to eat). They combined the Korean flavours extremely well and the salad on the side was a nice complement. Towards the end of the bagel, it got quite spicy. For a person who doesn’t really like spicy stuff, this wasn’t exemplar, and I had to drink a lot of water to drown the taste out.

Verdict? This is a cute place for a catch up and maybe afternoon tea…

Hidden in a quiet alley. Fantastic coffee and a great place to chill with your friends! Check out the street art outside too! Highly recommended

Nice coffee especially cold drip, a freezed blue berry in the ice, taste a little sour but not too much, smoky bagel is so tasty, though limited seats still highly recommended

I've eaten here a number of times, and it's not bad. The self-service waiting list is really confusing. You need to add your own name to a list that's in a non-obvious place on the wall, but when you ask staff about getting a table when it's busy they don't direct you to the list. It's not a great start to lunch. The pulled pork bagel is really nice, but the berry bagel will challenge even the hungriest diner. It's not bad for two, but I struggled to even get through my half. The coffee is good, but the service is a little hit and miss, with waitstaff wandering around aimlessly and asking everyone whether they're ready to order (I think we were asked by three different people last time we were there). It's a beautifully decorated cafe, with lovely communal tables.

it is already 2pm in the afternoon, and I guess my tummy is start to singing.. So I decided to go to Manchester Press and have a brunch in there..

I ordered Open Bagel with smoked salmon, spring onion, chive cream cheese and topped with baby cappers. It tasted so delicious! The chive cream cheese that i thought it is not gonna compatible with smoked salmon but it is wrong!it fits perfectly.. with the sour from the lemon and baby cappers that brings out the tangy lemony flavour, it makes the smoked salmon not too fishy in your mouth. But one thing that make me disappointed is that i found a small bone in the smoked salmon. Which luckily i saw it before i eat that whole. This meal is cost you $13AUD (in average size so you are not gonna be too full or less satisfied).

Closed Bagel with Roasted Pulled Pork with Asian Slaw. You know it just from hearing its name. The best recommended menu from the waitress. The pulled pork gives you sweet taste yet so juicy and tender. One of the bagel that will offer you a sense of satisfaction whole day. 14 hours slow roasted pulled pork by the chef is really brilliant recipe! This meal is cost you $AUD 15. Usually, in the mid afternoon, this meal is already sold out. So if you want to try out this menu, you should come earlier.

Overall, the staffs was friendly, the ambience was nice too. You do not need to make a booking or reservations. They always prioritise the big group rather than less than 3 people. Will come back again!

#BHAsFoodDiary
It’s just not worth waiting for 20mins or more for this kind of service. We were in a rush to go but we had to wait at the counter cuz the machine was broken. Then we realized they charged us more. Not much but totally annoying.

I had wanted to try Manhester Press for a long time and finally had the opportunity today. Sadly it did not live up to the hype nor my expectations. Had to wait about 20 mins for a table(as expected) I did love the idea of being able to add my own name to the list outside the door. Lots of larger share tables inside. Ordered the pulled pork, smashed avo and feta bagels, an orange juice and iced latte with icecream. Pulled pork bagel was nice. Not amazing...I just felt it had something missing. Smashed avo bagel, whilst great presentation, the obvious lemon flavour overpowered the entire bagel. The most disappointing was the iced latte. Advertised as coming with icecream-it did not. Furthermore for the price they charged, it came in a small glass. Unimpressed. Having waiting so long to try Manchester Press I was really underwhelmed by the experience. I guess hype really can get cafes far these days as I struggled to see what the fuss is all about.

Going downhill! I use to loved MP, I have cone back with friends after 3 years and everything has change, menu, portions, prices and food. Coffee is not as good as it just to be. Bagels weren't good at all and very small in portion. Staff wasn't friendly. Wouldn't recommend it anymore 😕
