This place has the best coffee and the food is amazing. Everything is well priced and if i could give it a 6th star i would. Highly recommend this cafe.
Great breakfast & coffee. Always friendly staff. Close to Vic marketmarket, great way to start the day.
A friendly welcome and good, strong hot coffee. Just what was needed early on s Sunday morning. For the bargain price of $2 (if ordered a coffee) I got a fresh out of the oven home made muffin.
My friends and i got tired after visiting the Queen Victoria Markets. We stopped her for break and a refreshing beverage. The service was friendly.
Such an understated hidden gem in the city. The coffee is amazing, and the breakfasts are delicious while also affordable. The service is great and personal, they remembered our order after only being here one time. Definitely worth a try!
Literally stumbled upon this on our late day in Melbourne while walking to the markets and starving.
Didn't disappoint. $50 for 3 of us. Breakfast was delicious, service was friendly and quick and very welcoming.
Setting is anything but 'phancy' but food was tasty
I originally mistook Phancy Café as a pit-stop for vagrants – such is the dim-lighting and squalid surrounds – but I soon found it to be a reliable performer for the budget-conscious eater. Proprietor Anthony Phan has an affable, ingratiating disposition, and has developed a unique formula to bake muffins. If I recall correctly, he initially pressure cooks the batter (which at a guess is similar to boiling), before briefly placing the muffin tray in a piping-hot oven. The result is a muffin with a relatively crispy exterior and a densely moist interior. There are no other muffins in the market (that I have found, anyhow) which possess this exemplary texture, which is utterly delicious.
Anthony has a deal where a muff is thrown in for $2 with a coffee, which is well worth trying (arrive early if you want the white choc/raspberry).
The kitchen is home to a Punjabi brother and sister who are equal parts talented and friendly. You can expect your food to arrive promptly, with good flavor, and I am not sure you can ask for much more at this very competitive price-point. I would like to recommend the French Toast – a weekly staple of mine. In terms of the coffee – unfortunately this is where the enterprise is found wanting. There is a conspicuous lack of body and depth in the coffee flavor, but this is not uncommon, even at successful cafés. In summary, Phancy is certainly worth a pit-stop the next time you visit the Victoria Market.
Phancy is ironically anything but fancy, but it doesn't need to be as it serves up some of the best value food n service in this part of the CBD. Their $7.50 egg n bacon Turkish roll is fabulous and substantial enough to sustain you until dinner. Highly recommended.
This place was great. We only had a very simple breakfast but they were more than happy to accomodate our not-on-the-menu options. The lady that served us was friendly & helpful (wish I'd got her name) & the coffee was lovely. We're hoping they are open tomorrow as it is a public holiday but also our last day in Melbourne.
Great coffee, welcoming service and delicious food - everything you need!. I love this café. the staff are super friendly, have excellent memories and are always cheerful. the food is so great. they don't mind making some alterations, the build your own bfast is a great idea. I will keep coming here again and again and encourage you to give it a go!
Delicious home-made beans. Went for brunch and ordered the 'make your own' breakfast option. Really great food. Great service and really friends staff
Good for its food. Experienced this café on a Sunday for brunch. It was pretty busy, but the one waitress still managed to keep a good customer service. The atmosphere lacked something unique, the music was old school which was nice. The decor is a bit outdated. But none of that really matters because the food was definitely great. Try the special with pumpkin bread, delicious.
Very nice place, food is good. Service is quick and friendly. Recommended for breakfast or coffee , could be good for lunch as well.
Coffee was good. The Bennie was good. The bacon and egg focaccia didn’t seem to have enough bacon or eggs. Prices were quite reasonable for the city though.
I wanted a place I can sit down and unwind a bit with coffee and a light breakfast, yet not in the middle of QV Market, and I found it. This small cafe was the perfect spot. Great coffee, and tasty food (I went for the eggs and bacon in a roll) with friendly staff Within a short walk from the market, makes for a perfect way to kill some time.
Great little Cafe with friendly staff. A good place to go for a healthy breakfast where you can quietly read the paper, before heading into Victoria Market which it just around the corner.
I'm typically not a big fan of greens, but the chicken salad was so delicious that I ended up eating more salad in that single meal that I did in the entire year. The chicken was flavourful and the salad was a refreshing contrast to the savoury cut.

Lovely experience !!!
My breakfast was to die for...the only mole was hollandaise sauce... sorry it was bland. Service, staff, cleanness wonderful.
First off, its hard to find a place serving locks... this place will not appoint! Absolutely excellent food! And I am an early-riser; they open at 6a.
