Review Plus 5 - Melbourne

Spoorthy Reddy
Visited this place a rainy evening. The outside seating treats you to treat view of the river and the city line. It was comfortably warm to be there in winter. They have wide range of cocktails and warm drinks as winter special like the hot toddy and mulled wine. Loved them. However the other classic cocktails were alright, a little diluted. For the food we tried fries, their garlic bread and dip platter and the bruschetta pizza. The dips were alright. Absolutely loved the bruschetta. The staff were very sweet and courteous.

Upon entering this stylish venue, we were greeted with a masked smile from staff, making us feel welcome. It's a comfortable atmosphere for couples or to bring the family. Food and drinks were fantastic - especially the Buffalo Cauliflower Balls. The menu choice hits every taste, so you'll find something. We can't wait to go back for more some day. It's not Newcastle, but it will do. Hooroo :)

I had a great time at Plus5 . Lychee cocktail , forget the name… Arinchini balls and And Chicken Pizza . Would love visiting this place again :)

Good, tapas. Enjoyed the atmosphere. Temperature control on the outside was good even though it was quite windy. Favorite was the cauliflower buffalo. The meatballs were a bit plain. Buffalo Chicken was not too spicy had a warming flavour to it. The sauces complimented each dish lovely.

Great service. Went above and beyond to accommodate all guests! Awesome cocktails as well (the kiwi one was especially terrific!). The blokes got a great beard as well.
Patrick Archer-Veith
Great food and cocktails and the outdoor seating is fantastic, highly recommend this place.

Great food and drinks, the Pizza especially was excellent. Reasonably priced food and drinks. Ordering through phone is super convenient. Would definitely go here again.

My partner and I recently got engaged and we were on the hunt for a engagement party venue to host our family and friends (120+ people). We came across Plus 5 online and enquired straight away, Brendon the venue manager was incredible to deal with and the staff on the night were equally as amazing. Our guest raved about how polite they were, and they even had a dance with us! We were able to set up the venue how ever we wanted and they were more than helpful, plus the food was incredible. I highly recommend the pizza and souvlaki‘s. Thank you again so much for making our night perfect, we couldn’t of imagined anything different nor would we of change anything!! 10/10 ☺️👏🏼

Went for lunch today (New Years Day) and the staff were definitely under the pump. They had issues with chefs calling in sick and warned us before ordering that there would be at least a 30 minute wait for food. We decided to wait, and were very glad we did. When the food came out it was definitely worth the wait. The pizzas were delicious and the staff offered us food that had been prepared for other customers who had decided to leave. The whole time we were there the staff were extremely polite and very apologetic for the time it took to receive our food. Despite this the atmosphere was great (minus the whining customers) and we had a great afternoon by the river. Would recommend it to others and we will definitely be back.

I would like to rate this place but unfortunately unable to as we were never served. We waited 10 minutes to get a drink whilst staff fluffed about doing nothing. It wasn’t busy. We were ready to have a few drinks and were looking forward getting the Easter egg with Baileys but took our business elsewhere.

we got here to have a after dinner drink and this place is amazing. great service, great atmosphere and the Irish liqueur coffee was the best I have had and seeing her make it at the bar was great. Definitely recommend and will b going back

Great friendly venue from very happy staff Excellent service with reasonable prices and prompt service. Very happy to recommend this gem. Would definitely go here again ....Absolutely 5 star !!

My fiance and I had dinner here and was absolutely beautiful! The staff and Managers are so very accommodating and couldn't be more genuine and kind, great atmosphere and great people! Highly recommend!! Thanks guys!

Yum! We had lunch today, I had the most amazing soft gnocchi with asparagus cream sauce and pancetta and hubby had a smoke salmon bruschetta, both were on the specials menu and both were divine! Great location, friendly staff and a great vibe, will return to this little gem.

We where visiting Melbourne and we come across this little gem in south wharf nice and perfect live music , good food , great service definitely we will recommend it to our friends

My husband and I decided to have lunch at Plus 5 instead of all the other eateries on South wharf what a mistake that was! We both ordered at the same time, my so called souvlaki looked like a washed out pastie and at $20 definitely not worth the money! My order came and was eaten but my husbands order never arrived! Not happy I will never recommend or go back to Plus 5! Should be called Minus 5!

Great location. Have been here before but this time was disappointed. Ordered the platter of cold meats and it took 40 minutes. Was undersized , for $32 it should have been better. I know it's petty but giving me 6 x 50 cent coins and 1 x 1 dollar change for the bill is rubbish. Did I look like a money box ? And I won't mention the dropped tray of drinks and lack of care cleaning up the glass.
Cara Windsor
An absolutely amazing place! We celebrated a 50th birthday party here and the staff couldn’t do enough for you.
Nicole Seaman
Incredible cocktails and service! Danny made me the BEST pina colada that I’ve ever had so of course I had to order 3 Awesome atmosphere and even better food! Highly recommend to EVERYONE
Christine Swallow
The best night out I have had in a very long time. Really enjoyed the food and cocktails. The music was the best.....all the oldies from the fifties!
Nicky Slattery
We celebrated Jack and Emily's engagement on Sunday with all the family and friends. The staff were amazing, the food was great would highly recommend if you need somewhere for a function!
Elizabeth Helen
Great service. Yummy pizza. Loved the overhead water jets to cool the warm breeze. Great place to relax by the yarra & catch up with good friends over a wine.

We had my daughters 21st at Plus 5, so many people said what a great venue it was. Sam and Lotta organised everything beautifully, was so easy for us. Sam made sure everything was running smoothly through the night updating me every hour, was very organised. Great food, staff were very accommodating and friendly we all had such a great night till 1 am. Thanks Sam, Lotta and wonderful staff XXX
Susan Luff
Great place to eat and have a few beers, Food was very tasty and the service was quick.
Megan Foley Gilchrist
What a great place!!! Awesome food that can only be topped by the friendliest service youll ever encounter. Eugene you made our night!!
I Love Food
Dined for lunch. We shared the lamb pizza which was tasty, however would've been good if they were more generous with the amount of lamb on the pizza. I also had a lychee martini which was refreshing. Service friendly.

Plus 5 is located next to the Convention Centre at South Wharf. I came here for lunch with some work colleagues and ordered from the $15 lunch special. I ordered the chicken quesadilla which was nice. I would have liked more chicken inside, and the salsa that they provided on the side provided extra flavour. The salad that it was supposed to come with was more of a garnish. I felt the service could have been more efficient, it took a while for us to get served. Despite all four of us ordering at the same time, only three of us received our meals, with the final one receiving hers about 15 minutes later when most of us had finished our meals.
Shutoutof-paradise
My partner and I got the 12pc buffalo wings and mushroom arancini with a portion of fries. Fries were alright quality but a good quantity. The Arancini was good with each element complementing the other. The buffalo wings were cooked very well with the meat falling off the bone. A spicy alternative would’ve made it even better. <br/><br/>Ambience was really good as seated across the river on a lovely day with great entertainment and friendly waiting staff. <br/><br/>Overall, this was a pleasant place to come to on a Sunday afternoon, not too busy.
Chirag Dadia
Visited here after a little tiring shopping at DFO. It's a very cosy place. They had a band playing on the day we went. The music was very soothing and relaxing.<br/><br/>Ordered a Margherita Pizza , Melanzane Pizza and Bruschetta. All were very well made. They accommodated our dietary restrictions very easily. The food tasted great. We also ordered an Apple Mojito. It was alright.<br/><br/>Would visit again and recommend to friends and colleagues.<br/><br/>The guys at Plus 5, especially Samantha, Thank You for such a lovely evening.
Rinny Wang
Food and drink here is average ,but outdoor seat worth money we paid…Have tried many restaurant around this area ……similar standard。 it is enjoyable sitting next to river , chatting with friends anyway。

Beautiful views for a beer and some eggplant. Had a simple snacking style tapas menu. Reasonable priced. Beer was good and egg plant well cooked with some gooe flavours
Vivian
We had our work Christmas party and honestly it wasn’t the best in terms of food . The venue was nice and spacious but for a booked out event the amount of food served ( and quality) was just not ok. The chick roulettes were dry , stuffed with some sort of baby food like purée , meatballs bland in a weird sweet sauce <br/>The lamb sliders were dry , prawn skewers cold there was cheese and fruit platter for for max 4 people served to a room of 100 <br/>
LL
3.5 rating<br/><br/>Food service and nice ambience. Had pizza and chicken wings. Pizza and chicken wings were quite good. Taste isn't extraordinary but seems authentic. Visited twice and content with both my visits.
Ozzy Kunnu
The only thing we enjoyed about this place was the ambiance and the live music. Ordered a Pizza and Lamb Sliders. Pizza as flavorless and a disaster. Lamb sliders was too sweet for our taste.    Wouldn't recommend.
The Gastronomist
I had a wonderful afternoon tea at this place. The big plus for me is its location. Ambiance worked for me. It’s great to be outside under alfresco over looking the South Wharf. I love the pizza, and coffee was not bad, but I had better. Service was quick, maybe because of the time of the day and toilet was tidy. It’s worth coming back.

The views across to docklands, the Seafarers Mission bridge and the city from the terrace aren't bad. We'd booked using a dimmi 50% off food offer and chosen the restaurant based on location and a quick look at the menu online. In fact the menu on the day had a few different dishes. The crab sliders were small and nicely formed with a mix of crunchy veggies accompanying the meat.
Espy Eats
So someone organised a work lunch here today and I came along for the ride. There was a Dimmi lunch booking special for 50% off the food items so it was a little hard to say no thanks. Perfectly positioned to capture the sun and view of the Yarra the signage of this South Wharf Eatery was initially hard to spot.<br/><br/>We all sat outside and after perusing the menu all ordered pizzas. I choose the lamb one called the Agnello. The pulled lamb on this pizza was sensational. The other pizzas looked good too and there were no complaints other having no room to finish it.<br/><br/>I did have a problem with my lemon lime bitters originally but after asking for it to be remade it came out tasting as it should. This was done with no drama.<br/><br/>Service was good but basic and we were asked how our meals were a couple of times which was a good check in. Too bad we had to go back to work... was quite nice sitting here eating half price food.

Amazing music, super attentive service with sweet staff. Perfect venue to enjoy a Sunday afternoon, will defo be back on the regular! Thank you Plus 5 Sunday staff :)

This place has the hipster thing all working for it: industrial chic decor, a wall of booze of all kinds, cool live entertainment, an outdoor fire pit, suitably busy and very trendy-looking staff with carefully coiffured hairdos. The only thing it does not do so well is service (if you read all reviews you will see this is a constant refrain). We waited for 45 minutes for a plate of (trendy) eggplant chips, and then waited again for a second dish, and waited again for a third dish.  The food was OK, and the environment was nice but, sorry, I won't be back until they get the fundamentals right. I expect more from an evening out in Melbourne's Docklands.

I really hope the owner of this establishment reads these reviews, I have never had an experience at a restaurant like what I experienced at Plus 5 today. In a 45 minute period:<br/>- waitress served us last out of about 5 tables, even though we'd sat down first<br/>- had to collect our own water from the bar after waiting half an hour for drinks <br/>- sent wrong salad <br/>- waitress forgot to put our drinks through, asked where they were after wrong salad arrived, blamed the bar man then sent our drinks to the wrong table. I went and collected them myself from the bar after she told the bar man she didn't know where they were going <br/>- had to change my order as told dish was unavailable, 20minutes after ordering<br/>- watched as food sat for approx 10minutes before being collected <br/>And as if this wasn't enough, then given incorrect change when paying the bill. <br/>Blonde waitress, get your shit together and stop blaming other staff for your mistakes. Seriously laughable by the end, full Faulty Towers experience.
Split The Bill
Ordered the $15 open souvlaki. Was a little disappointed as it was more a salad souvlaki as there was hardly any pulled pork 😐.<br/>We had to grab a couple of potato cakes from a take away shop on the way back to the office to fill us up.

Truly awful in every respect. Arrived at 12.45pm and ordered at 1pm. After waiting 40 minutes our group enquired when our food would be ready. We were initially told that it would be '5 to 10 minutes', after a further 15 minutes we were told it was being ''plated up', after a further 15 minutes I cancelled my order.  I could see the kitchen, it was obvious that my order had not been prepared. Of those within the group who actually received their orders, the food was average.<br/><br/>Waiting staff were unhelpful, and it could be said, misleading with their information. For somewhere with Melbourne's huge array of wonderful eateries, this is an embarrassment. Avoid, there are so many better options along this waterside strip.

Best pizza we've ever had and service was great. <br/>Warm and comfortable, given the cold weather.<br/>great out look and great location.  Definitely come again.

I chanced upon Plus 5 after DFO shopping, and it was the most affordable place in the area. Little did I know that this was such a hidden gem. Went back twice in a span of 2 weeks, once with my brother and the other with my girlfriend. <br/><br/>Pizza was excellent, simple and fresh. Everything done simply and done right. Baked to perfectness in that rustic woodfire oven. Definitely one of the best pizzas I have ever had.<br/><br/>Also do try out their small plates. Over the 2 visits, I managed to try all their small plates and I am astoundingly impressed by their food and taste. Despite not being wildly creative or imaginative, they are well done, rustic and perfectly cooked. House-made meatballs and fresh battered wings are good companions to any great night out. <br/><br/>Will definitely recommend and come back if I am in Melbourne again!

Sorry, but vey average food. Service great! Pate was runny and warm!! Seriously?! Don't serve me rubbish please when I'm paying good money. Prawns were excellent but sauce was not appropriate. Sliders were average. Buffalo wings were actually honey-soy which means they have no understanding what buffalo wings should be. Meat sharing platter was just ok, bit no imagination! Plus to top it off, they ran out of dough, so no pizzas available. Can't you make dough?! Sorry, won't be back, nothing special.

If you are looking for a relaxing spot with river view, Plus 5 is a great place to go. Went here for some drinks and sat outdoor to enjoy the view and Melbourne's "friendly" weather on that day, such a mood booster! They also have happy hours for some alchohols which make it even better. Will definitely come back again.
Spaghetti Monster
I've not been that impressed by any of the restaurants in this part of Melbourne but this is an exception. Had the shepherd's pie and a beer for $20 on a lunchtime special. Great tasting pie and good value. Went with a group from work and we all sauntered back to the office satisfied. Would eat here again.

We dropped in on Sunday and ordered drinks and a dip/bread dish. The staff were very pleasant and efficient and our drinks came quickly. Although the place wasn't overly busy, we waited around 30 minutes for our food after twice enquiring when it was coming. They profusely apologised and offered us a free round of drinks and our food came shortly after. The free drinks softened the wait but the next day I was amazed to see they had refunded our purchase (made by credit card)! We will definitely be back again as this was excellent customer service to overcome a glitch on the day.
Rob
Have been to Plus 5 many times, location is fantastic even on a chilly day you are able to sit outside and watch the Yarra meander past. The pizzas are great and always found the staff to be very friendly and efficient. Cosy place to have a couple drinks. Love it!

Our group of 4 went to the restaurant personally in the afternoon to make a dinner reservation for the same day's evening, the service person who took the reservation also told us she would be reserving a particular table for us, really delightful. When we went back to the restaurant at the reserved time that evening, the restaurant was full and the particular table was also occupied, we were very disappointed. To worsen the situation, the service staff that evening did not offer to explain or apologise. She even asked us to take a coffee table by the entrance for our dinner :(. Really disappointed to receive such bad service in Melbourne, never had we experienced such bad service in Melbourne, the establishment brings bad name to to other restaurants in Melbourne. The management is really unfortunate to have such employees working for the restaurant. ( The person who took the reservation and the one at dinner were different persons). Date time of reservation: 30July2016, 630pm.

A bar experience par excellence. And with the most comfortable bar stools in Melbourne. Dan Mariner was an attentive and intuitive bartender who looked after us in both food and beverage from our arrival. He even assisted us in the creation of my new favourite cocktail, the Rind of the Mariner, a beautiful concoction of Aperol, Spiced rum and Solerno with a touch of bitters and torched orange peel. I'll be going back for more. A lot. <br/><br/>The food was excellent also, made to order in a woodfired oven by one of the in house chefs. Not too much, not too little, exceptionally well presented and flavoursome.<br/><br/>Just brilliant.
Lt57
Not impressed! Sat outside & told that menus would be bought to us - waited 10 mins & finally went & got them myself. Then waited at least another 10 mins for order to be taken & that was only after calling waitress over. They were not busy, we were there at 6 pm. Won't be back.

Lovely spot by the Yarra <br/>We ordered a sharing tapas plate for 2 - only $40 and a surprising amount of food! Pizza was delicious <br/>The service was very friendly <br/>Music also a plus!
T-bone
Terrible service, waited far too long for two meals and the restaurant only had 20 odd people in it. Over priced and small meals. Would not recommend<br/>
Lari
Great location, food was pretty good for the price. Thought the mocktail was a bit pricey at $9 as it was practically a glass of lemonade with strawberries in it.
Isabella
I was shopping with a friend and we happened upon plus 5, I so so so glad we did! It's was great, the food and drinks were lovely and the service was good too. Definitely going back soon.
Gianetta Williams
DO NOT ATTEND!!! This is some of the worst Tapas I have had.. Out of six meals only one was worth paying. Bad service also. Rude chef... The hours wait was no worth it. I can see why you pre pay for your food.
Lauren Morrison
No service given, no greeting and we waited 20 minutes for a jug of pins for four people which should have only served 2. Not a good first experience.
Laura Magnano
Went to Plus 5 for the first time today. We were lucky enough to swoop and get a table in the glistening sun. We ordered a pizza and I drank Thatcher's cider - both were delightful! The pizza was really good, I was expecting it to be average (no idea why) but it was delicious; fresh ingredients with good mozzarella to roma tomato ratios (trust me, it makes a difference). The only reason I didn't rate it a 4 is because the deep set couches we sat on could use some cushions (or maybe that's just me because I'm 5" nothing and felt awks haha...). Top place for couples and groups. I think I'll be making this place one of my locals.
Smittenkitten
Average food. Service was dreadful. Waitress had to ask several times what we wanted. She didn't know the mocktail special. She got my coffee order wrong and didn't know what a sweetener was!! Think the staff needs some more training!
Hungry Ronin
The food at Plus 5 was a pleasant surprise, we found the wood oven pizza (pulled lamb and relish) to be spot on; the chacuterie board was not the best I've ever had but had a great variety, yummy crusty bread and was fine overall. We also ordered from the tapas menu and had the pork belly, which was done very nicely (superb crackling and tender meat) although I wasn't old on the accompanying mustard sauce. The lamb meatballs was the only disappointing dish, being on the dry side served with the uninspiring (and reused) relish and yogurt sauce. Now on the service - it was well meaning yet still in shambles.... Overlapping asking of orders, sitting people on dirty tables, air of ignorance, pouring my cider to my sparkling water...it simply needs to improve to match the food. Once adjusted this will be a place to be reckoned with amongst its neighbours.
Steven DeBono
Very positive. We had a 40 year reunion for dental techos. The party of 20 totally enjoyed their time and didn't won't to go home. The staff very helpful ( kelly &daniel )very attentive to our group. The food presentation and pizzas were delicious. Highly recommend
Wanderlust 766
Was lured in by the Wood-fired pizza sign outside the door. The service was poor mainly due to there only being 3 staff members working. They were friendly but far too slow. The pizza's were good, but not worth the wait. It may have been a quiet night for them but they will have to do better if they want me back there.
Theresa M
Went here last night before the ballet and we enjoyed it. The tapas were delicious and the atmosphere was even better. Will definitely come here again!

DISGUSTING SERVICE!. We dropped in on a Sunday afternoon for a nice drink and were lured by the sign "BBQ from 4pm" considering we were both a bit hungry!<br/><br/>We got there at about 3.30 and asked about the BBQ. We were told that the food hadn't been decided yet and so probably wouldn't be ready until after 5, but the normal kitchen opened at 4pm. No worries, we thought, we will just order a few snacks after 4. <br/><br/>But when we went to order we were rudely told that the kitchen still wasn't opened and wouldn't be until after 5. It wasn't so much that we couldn't get food, it was more the fact that the staff we incredibly rude and disinterested!<br/><br/>You would think that they would like to have customers, but the overall service and attitude of all the staff was that they would prefer if we weren't there.<br/><br/>I recommend heading down to "The General Assembly" great food, friendly staff and a much nicer atmosphere.
Slow
Slow service. What an epic wait time - there was a crazy amount of standing around by the staff and zero service! Glad they got to catch up but would of been nice if they actually got the crispy pork belly right instead!!
Kadsull
Great food and music in a Sunday afternoon. Listen to amazing music on a Sunday Arvo with yummy food

If you don't like customers don't start a restaurant. I gave Plus 5 a chance even after reading the poor reviews about their service. Unfortunately the reviews were very correct.<br/>It was nearly impossible to get the attention of the staff. And after we finally had ordered we had to ask for our food when it was missing for an unreasonable long time.<br/>I am quite surprised that the entire staff were this non-responsive to service.<br/>I will not be coming back, there are plenty of other restaurants along South Wharf to waste time on this place.
Steve Chaz
Very unimpressive. Apart from the lovely decor, there is really nothing that was enjoyable here. Ordered 2 tapas and a pizza, very very average in taste, the little lamb burger tapas had very fatty lamb, the chicken chorizo balls were tasteless, barely cooked and they came out 20 mins after the other tapas, the pizza was very doughey. And if you're a non smoker dont bother eating here, people sitting at tables outside either entrance smoking means the smoke just gets drawn inside. Not a pleasant experience at all
KatMmm
I visited here as a stop on the South Wharf Progressive Degustation as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, so I can't talk to the standard menu or value for money of the dishes. <br/><br/>What I can say is that the Bitter Chocolate Espressotini was amazing! It was very alcohol and not too sweet. A great way to end our degustation.

Dying of thirst. They have a cocktail menu so I thought I'd treat myself before dinner. A large table then came in after we ordered. Got our food - still no drink - not even the beer! Meanwhile we see at least 2 tables leave with no drink and the people next to us are still waiting on their wine. The large table is well lubricated. The waitress arrives with the beer after we remind her and says my cocktail is being made. Can see the barman who is not making cocktails - lying to customers is not service. Finish our food and still no drink so I cancel it so we can go somewhere that will serve us. Go up to pay and the barman who seems like the owner says that they are really busy and cocktails take a long time like it was my fault I ordered a drink that was on their menu and didn't get it. Can I suggest that it would have been better to explain this at the start and offer me an alternative but don't know how this explains the beer not arriving or the other tables. Anyway went across the way to the public bar which served me a drink yay! And had good looking food. The chef at plus 5 also does this weird clapping thing to tell the floor staff food is up- very distracting. Only go here if you are masochist who likes to deny yourself pleasure.
CDee
Where to start.... Stood in at the bar for 15 minutes while 4 staff "worked" around us. didn't look at us in the face. one dried plates and said.... sorry just so busy and continued drying. the others... not even sure what was happening. hardly anyone in the venue. one asked what we wanted and then walked away. kept waiting. nothing. I just couldn't believe my eyes. don't even bother. even if it is for a quick drink (which is all we wanted!)
Dodgy_bill
Very very bad!. Long waits, poor service, uninspiring food & depressing atmosphere. No communication from the stressed staff as to why things weren't what they should be. Maybe they were having an off day but I won't be back in a hurry.
Tjangwin
Disappointing. Food was good, however 4 items on the menu were unavailable and there was only one dessert to pick from. Overall disappointing!
Prasadshinde03
Very bad. Had lunch yesterday. Horrible. Waiting for food 45 minutes. When it finally came out was very average. Stuff was very nice, but looked extremely stressed. I think the guy looking like a supervisor was having a bad day, could see the anger all over him. That's not the way to run business like this. <br/>Good location, all right set up but atmosphere from hell !!!!!<br/>Do not go there unless you want to spoil your day !!!!!
A380qf1
Extremely bad. Friday night ready to have a nice dinner . Advised only Gluten free pizza available. Ordered tapas instead chicken balls and chorizo and pork belly. The chicken balls very average. The Pork belly expecting a good crackling it looked like steam pork with a bit of salad. When we asked for some bread advise no bread was available as they run out of dough. How can a restaurant big Friday night at 730pm run out of dough. Common guys get your act together!,,,,
Nick
Went on the 23rd september with my grand children for a pizza arrived at 5.50pm after asking twice for a waitress for some service to feed the kids .at 7.45 pm we walked out with no meals ,i asked the chef how long would the pizzas be he then said maybe another 45 min ,i bet the boss was sitting at home having his meal with his family .if your going to be in buisiness please take it serious my rating is minus 5

Poor and disorganised service. Went for dinner tonight and ended up having to walk out without even trying the food! Waited for ages to even have our drink orders taken! Poor customer service, staff disorganised and only one chef on! Would not recommend unless you had several hours to kill!

Great place. Came on early Friday night and really enjoyed it.<br/>Real Italian Pizza, great atmosphere near the fire and the river and most important - very friendly staff.

Scrooge won over.. My idea of a good night out is a good night in. This time though, Im glad I made the effort.<br/><br/>Being philosophically opposed to ten buck pints limits your options in the CBD, but I will happily return and squander my hard-earned at Plus 5. The Negroni was excellent but the service was outstanding. No condescension or pretention here. Just attentive, engaging, good-humoured staff (one of whom - coincidentally was the most attractive woman I've ever met...but as I said, I don't get out much).<br/><br/>Worth a visit.

Can't fault these guys. Excellent food and great service. had pizzas and tapas in a group of 8. managed to serve us all before a theatre show with plenty of time to spare.

Splendid. Such a beautifully located bar, which serves up quite decent food. Food is a little expensive for the portion you get though. In terms of quality, we enjoyed the air dried beef pizza and the salmon salad. We also had the lamb meatballs, which I found to be a little too herby and just didn't quite have the kick to them as I was expecting. Perhaps I like my meatballs really meaty. xD I did like the yogurt sauce that went with it though! Only major disappointment in terms of food was the pork belly. The four pieces of pork belly served were extremely fatty and little if not none of the fat from the pork belly had been rendered out. Yes, it is pork belly, and should be fatty, but I definitely have never eaten pork belly that is oh soo fatty. I could hardly spot where the meat was! I was just eating fat and I could hear my arteries scream! hehe Hopefully Plus 5 buys a leaner pork belly and renders the fat well for the next time they prepare and serve this dish. I do compliment them on serving the pork belly with caramelized pomegranate to cut through the fattiness! <br/><br/>In terms of drinks, we ordered a rose lemonade which was absolutely beautiful and such a great way to just soothe the mind! We also had the usual lemon lime bitters which I found not sweet enough, it was quite bland - they seemed to have used soda water instead of the conventional lemonade to make it up.<br/> <br/>All in all, the service was great and attentive and dining here was a pleasant experience.
Jeannette
Great duck salad. Excellent service
Andy King
Not too bad. Ate here a few days ago, it's a fairly new place and was very quiet on the Thursday we went but the tapas style menu sounded good so we thought we'd give it a go. <br/><br/>Service was attentive as you'd hope when it's quiet! Overall the food was ok but some of the dishes were way too vinegary - particularly the mushrooms and antipasto that we ordered. Charcuterie and lamb meatballs were good and they've got a good drinks selection. I'm sure they'll improve in time and the waiter told us they were still working on perfecting the menu.

Plus 5 has recently opened up on the South Wharf promenade offering punters a dazzling array of cocktails and a concise tapas menu with which to wile away sunny afternoons and long nights.  The space is expansive with a modern industrial fit out but it was the outdoor area that appealed on the sunshine filled day on which we visited.  We perched ourselves at the high table which offers a great view of passers by and the Yarra and its goings on. The extensive cocktail menu contains all the old favourites as well as some contemporary twists on some classics. Munching on some complimentary almonds (the wasabi ones were particularly good), we set about making a decision.  We decided to try a couple of Plus 5's signature cocktails the Banzai Mule for TBS and the Rose Petal Martini for me.  Don't you just love a boozy cocktail  I get so much satisfaction from drinking a wel
Greedy Girl
All round, this was a pleasant experience. Greedy Girl liked the look of the cocktail menu and asked the barman on the way out whether the margarita was available frozen. Yes indeedy, was the cheery reply, with further details offered that his preference was to make margaritas in the classic style. Greedy Girl is eagerly awaiting the next warm day to sample a frosty glassful. In her opinion, the barman certainly 'talked the talk'.
Gastrology
A stand out dish from our visit was the duck salad. This seemingly simple salad was not only complex with layers of flavour, it was also perfectly balanced. The duck was moreish and tender, and it matched beautifully with the subtle flavour of the goats cheese. The fruity acidity and texture of the orange segments provided balance. It was a very enjoyable dish.
Sweet And Sour Fork
I absolutely adored the Apple Mojito ($12), a classic blend of apple juice and sugar syrup with fresh lime and mint, served over crushed ice. It was as delicious as it sounds, and I was almost tempted to ask for a splash of rum in it to get the full mojito experience.
