Review Mesh - Crown Promenade - Melbourne

We’ve been to Melba on a couple occasions. It is quite pricey for the dinner menu but the food is nice. We particularly enjoyed the live cooking and sushi station which heightened the experience. The service was slightly on the slower side

First time set on my feet at Melba restaurant, I felt a warm ambience as well as warm greetings from the staff. I had reserved by the window seat for three, where I can see Yarra River and Southbank. The dining area is not big, compare to Conservatory restaurant in Crown. However, this is closer to the buffet station. I really enjoyed my lunch buffet experience here especially the grilled and seafood selection. Last but not least, we could take as many beautiful shots as we want in the iconic Langham hotel. Don't forget to check the pink phone box in the lobby as well as the pink cab in front of the entrance.

I had the buffet breakfast and it was really good. It has the normal problems of a buffet such as waiting in lines, waiting for food to come out and temperatures not always being hot. But it has a great range of options to choose from including a traditional western breakfast, continental breakfast and Asia specific such as miso soup. It also has a salad and juice bar. Plus the staff are super friendly.

Loved it! Had my birthday lunch here and there is a variety of foods to choose from. The roast pork belly and lobster and the baby octopus yum! Also love how the dessert is in bite size pieces so you can choose more than one 🤣😋 and the chocolate fountain 🤤

The location, service, and dining experience is 5 star. However the food is 4star. Its a little over rated. Especially when you are paying $150 pp. Smoked salmon- beautiful Unagi- Very nice Salmon Sashimi- not as fresh as some other 5star japanese restaurants Oysters- Very Fresh Prawns- A little over cooked and chewy Sashimi platter- very nice, good presentation Lobster tails- a little dry, (not as fresh as you would want) Duck Pancakes- hardly any duck meat inside Dessert- they didnt replace the vanilla ice cream for ages apple tart was frozen inside pudding- beautiful rasberry + berries mix- so yummy Hot food (great selection and variety of indian, itallian, chinese, cuisine but couldnt fit any more in my stomach after eating all the seafood) All in all- its a beautiful fine dining experience for adults and date night! Wouldn't go there (all the time) There are other fine dining restaurants in melbourne that have a higher quality seafood buffet for sure.

Had the buffer dinner for an Xmas party and thoroughly enjoyed the selection of mouth watering food on offer. The entrance had a beautiful display worthy of a vogue magazine cover so definitely bring your camera too, preferably pics before food!

Really good quality buffet. Cook to order steaks, lamb ragu, sushi, fried noodles. Butter lobsters, prawns, oysters, carvery, Peking duck , made to order naan bread, assortment of curries and array of desserts and chocolate fountain. My recommendation is to go during Monday to Thursday.

Amazing lipsmacking food, theres all kind of cuisine available from seafood to vegen to aisan continental, sushi, desserts, Indian buffet, salads, all types of meats and bbq also available, I felt 2 hours time for a seating is less they should extend it to 3 hours, if you're there for an experience 2 hours would be less, but otherwise worth the money for any special occasion, especially when you have an event and want to ensure there's somwthing for everyone to relish.

Visited Mesh to try their buffet when they had a promotion.<br/><br/>There are ample seating area inside and a live band at the front. In terms of the buffet, there is a good variety with seafood and we really enjoyed it.<br/><br/>The dessert selection is amazing and there is an ice cream selection as well as a fondue fountain.<br/><br/>It is a pretty good spread with the promotional offer.
Foodadventureswithliv
we had our christmas lunch buffet here at Mesh while we stayed at Crown! <br/><br/>it was too hard to take photos of the food as it is a buffet but Mesh had such a variety of food!!! from cheese to seafood to meats and to desserts we were spoiled for choice! the chefs were so accommodating for our gluten free dietary requirements, we loved all the food and wasn’t disappointed with the service! :)
Mel
I think for the price you pay, it’s pretty decent food. Prawns were yum. There could be more variety. Great ambience with live music. Side note, I really liked the ice cream they had. If you’re there, you have to try their vanilla cream with the chocolate pudding cake.

We’ve been coming here for the last six months in favour of the Conservatory and have noticed the deterioration in the quality of the hot food ever since the $72 menu was changed to $49 menu. The The salads and desert bar are still very good. Staff are very friendly and helpful. they might want to change the name to smorgies.

<br/>The food was totally different with the photos on google. No fondue, no sushi, no cheese cake, no soft bread ....<br/>I am not sure about the reason, but if it's because the price is cheaper than usual(they are offering special price in June), they should have noticed that not only the price but also the food's variety and quality is different.<br/>We(especially my kids) were very disappointed with the food. And Poor Customer experience service in Crown. They don't care about my feelings and feedback<br/><br/>

Had a vast range of cuisines, but it’d felt more like comfort food (ex. seafood section). The restaurant is very big, modern and spacious. However the band performing in the background was quite disruptive and loud. Our waitress was very kind, and seemed to make us feel comfortable whenever we needed something.
Sunny Days Melbourne
Entering Mesh for their buffet brought tears of joy for me! The view was deliciously amazing. They had a vast array of entree, main, side and dessert options. There was a generous amount of seafood as well. <br/><br/>Everything was presented beautifully and I had to restrain myself from diving into the chocolate fountain! <br/><br/>Parking can be an issue, especially on weekends. And here's a tip, pace yourself and be strategic so that you will be able to sample everything that is on offer.
Crabapples For Lunch
Came here for the buffet but was not impressed with the selection. Quality of the food was mediocre and the buffet was made up mostly of 'filler' dishes. As I reviewed previously, as far as buffets go, Conservatory is a better bet for good food that might get you your money's worth, even though it is more expensive.
Michelle Pella
Attended one of the buffets for Christmas Eve <br/>dinner and it wasn’t the best. A lot of the food was either dry or hard...for example the bread was so hard it chipped my tooth. Also wasn’t many vegetarian options either. The waiters were lovely however!
~Happy Neko~
Bit disappointed with the buffet at crown, not good as it used to be (or i've become more picky with my food). Decent variety of food selection and good combinationn but I would prefer to pay a little extra to dine at the conservatory.

Drinks were incorrectly sent to the wrong table. Wrong drinks were delivered to the right table. Also, on several occasions drinks were not even delivered and had to be reordered. Service should have been quicker.
Monks
Prawns and oysters were nice. Ribs were dry and dessert was bland but the choc fountain was nice. Service wasnt great. Lines were long as the cues werent controlled. <br/>You get three drinks but not advised of ordering them before 10:30 so lost out on 5 drinks. <br/>Some were friendly but most were rude especially when asking for drinks post 1030pm. <br/><br/>
Some Bunee Loves Food
Came here for Sunday dinner not long ago with my family. Good variety of food. The desserts looked so pretty. However, it can get a bit busy and you end up queuing up for food and they are gone quickly. I liked this place and will go again.

Disgusting food disgusting everything disgusting service trying to ruin pinkys 21st dinner horrible service just cactus, this restaurant makes me feel like I’m at Footscray hungry jacks

We went to mesh for a celebratory dinner. Lucky we did so as we had SO MUCH FOOD! Make sure you go there hungry! We had the unlimited buffet. Delicious seafood, a range of salads and nice salads, curries and even roasts! The selection of deserts was also impressive. I was too full to remember to take a photo of the buffet unfortunately but i definitely recommend it if are after delicious seafood and do not want to over spend. <br/>

• Mesh • Look, there’s nothing better then starving and knowing you’re about to eat up a feast at a buffet, but there’s nothing worse then going to the buffet and it ending up to be horrible! Luckily Mesh is not gonna let you down. Oysters, sushi, salmon, prawns, roast, dumplings, chocolate fondue... I could go on but I don’t want to drool on my phone. Service is just so so so friendly, and pricing being a bit dear but making up for it with the quality of food! #foodporn #foodblogger #buffet #oysters #sushi #prawns #crowncasino #dinner

Went to the Sunday $70 buffet where one kid 12 and under eats free with every paying adult. I’m not normally a buffet fan but this was good value and overall good quality food. Unlimited free flowing champagne is included in your meal price. Seafood was very fresh. Hot food was well cooked. There were roasts, stews, dumplings, fish, spicy chicken, as well as salads, cold platters, lots of desserts and cheeses and a chocolate fountain. Service was very pleasant. There was live music which was very entertaining too. The doughnuts weren’t super fresh and the Nutella Pebble was way too sickly sweet. They did their best to keep on top of the empty platters and they cleared plates regularly. The waiters do need to learn how to pour champagne slower so all of it gets in the glass instead of splashing all over the table. But other than those things this was a great casual family lunch option. I’d say very good value for money.
Jennifer
I went here a couple of times with my boyfriend and I must say that their food never disappoints. Seafood was fresh, food trays were always topped up, desserts were fantastic, and the list keeps going. I find this restaurant to be the perfect place for a romantic dinner, or for any other event really. There is definitely nothing to complain about Mesh!
DuckieLovesToEat
This place is situated in Crown promenade. They offer $35.50pp for buffet breakfast. I must say, the selection is pretty good. You can have the cold variety and have the option to have a warm breakfast freshly cooked by a chef. If you are staying in Crown promenade, just check this place out.

My best friend celebrated her 21th here, the ambiance is just perfect, live band made it 10x better :) attentive waitstaff and food is great. Will definitely come back ❤️
HeraldSun Reviews
Terrible food quality, schnitzel came out with cold potatoes, pizza was oily and flavourless, Indian butter chicken was okay but the rice came out cool not hot. Terrible service as the waitresses had limited to no knowledge when asked questions about certain foods and drinks. The menu was extremely limited and bland. Do not recommend, disappointing experience, if I could give this place a 0 I would
Veena Balakrishnan
The breakfast buffet was amazing with a whole lot of options from vegetarian to meat to seafood to muffins and cakes. But I felt like all those items are the usual ones we make at home. For a restaurant located in the heart of Melbourne with the biggest casino in Australia can have better breakfast choices.
Steffanie Puljevic
Save your money go to a restaurant for the same price and have one meal of great quality. Went for Sunday Buffet lunch and very poor experience. Lines were longer than what they were bringing out fresh food and not worth the wait in the end. Not friendly to nut allergies either. Stick to Conservatory for a buffet of quality. What you pay for is what you get.

$48 for Sunday seafood buffet is a really good price. However the seafood is only shrimp and oysters(?). The oysters are so lovely, the sauce is nice! <br/>For the entree i have:<br/>- Tuna pasta salad: just okay<br/>- Mexican rice salad: i like this one!<br/>- a bit of caesar salad with cheese and ham<br/><br/>Then i have the seafood! The shrimp just okay :)<br/>Followed with the main<br/>- roast beef and pork: love the beef! Pork need a bit seasoning.. or i forgot to take the sauce<br/>- lamb ribs: savoury! <br/>- cauliflower gratin: just okay<br/>- roast chat potato: just okay<br/>- tortellini with creamy pesto: 👌🏻👌🏻<br/><br/>Continue with<br/>- pumpkin soup: so thick and creamy<br/>- sausage and bean stew: just okay. <br/>- butter rice and beef ragout with mushroom! Its a yes! <br/>- vegetables spring rolls: just okay<br/>- chicken dimsum: just okay<br/><br/>Finish with<br/>- swiss chocolate ice cream<br/>- coffee(?) : i prefer this one than the chocolate haha<br/>- raspberry sorbet! So refreshing 😍<br/>- salted caramel doughnut(?) its a yes!<br/>- bread pudding as well👌🏻<br/><br/>Overall, after taking a long time to decide whether to go or not! Definitely not regretting to come~ :)<br/>

My partner and I often dine at Mesh whether it’s with family (big group), friends or just the two of us and have come to really love it.<br/>In terms of value for money it really is outstanding. The selection of food is fantastic from cold and warm seafood to salad and sides (usually pasta or rice dishes, vegetables etc) and then the meat - chicken, steak, lamb. <br/>They have a great drinks menu and a lively and enjoyable atmosphere. Whether you’re there for a long dinner or a short one before a movie or show, Mesh caters to all. <br/>The staff are friendly and promptly clear your plate when getting up for round 2... or 5!<br/>Beautiful dessert selection including ice cream, cakes, chocolate fountain and lollies.
GL
Perfect for big lunch<br/>Always satisfied <br/>Not all food is perfect, but the buffet have a lots choices, so don’t be stupid to fill up the plate with food, try everything in small portions and try to find what make you happy , for having again ! <br/>

Started with the mushroom aranchini that was delicious! We both had the rib eye medium rare, mash, veggies and salad. Absolutely delicious! The meat just melted in our mouths!

@Mesh<br/>Great seafood buffet, fantastic place to have a large family get together. There is a music band on Sundays and I think children under 12 eat for free. <br/>We had free flowing sparkling and the roast was really good, my nieces and nephews loved the chocolate fountain and all the desserts.
Juzzini
We came here Friday night for their Grill buffet for $65. <br/>It’s a great place to catch up with friends or a family night out as it’s very relaxed atmosphere. There’s also live acoustic music but where we were seated, you can’t really hear them.<br/>The buffet came with 2 drink (wine, beer or soft drinks).<br/>We had a problem flagging down the waiters for drinks and the wait for drinks to arrive was very slow. <br/>But other than that, the service was very professional and friendly.<br/>The variety of food seemed limited and didn’t have an abundance of choices. But the dessert bar was very impressive (chocolate fountain, mini cakes/tarts, fresh fruits and more).<br/>One side had the seafood (tiny oysters, prawns and mussels) and salads. The main counter had all the hot food and roast and grill. <br/>Lastly the other side had the desserts. <br/>Some of the meat I had were dry but overall, the food were fresh and complimented well together.<br/>For that price, it has a nice ambience, good seafood, 2 drinks and most importantly, a nice place to catch up with friends/family. <br/>

I dined here last night with my partner and I had to say I was extremely disappointed in what you get for the money you pay $69.50 <br/><br/>When your advertising seafood buffet. You expect a whole lot of different varieties not just 3 or 4 being prawns, small oysters, mussels and not fresh smoked salmon the service was absolutely shit we weren't asked. How did we find the evening or dinning experience when I paid let alone see if I wanted another drink through out the session <br/>I'll never be back there again next time I'll be going conservatory
Angehaha
Really bad experience each time I’ve been here. Mostly because of service. <br/><br/>Breakfast is always rushed and the staff are not very helpful. Although it’s a buffet, one of our party still had to pay for coffee. <br/>I wasn’t very impressed with the variety and quality of food either. <br/><br/>We also went to the bar section one afternoon. Ordered some food and drinks. The food took about an hour because they forget our order. Then they brought out someone else’s meal. It was a mess. <br/>We also ordered a very fancy bottle of bubbles which dirty glasses were brought to us..twice!

One of the worst restaurants I have ever been too. Unfortunately couldn’t get a booking for Conservatory so had to pick this option and what a mistake it was. How can u serve raw carrots and potatoes. Honestly do you hire amateurs to work in your kitchen. The barramundi was tasteless. There is a reason we have salt and pepper. Season your fish before you cook it. Mash potatoes had more butter than potatoes to be honest. It was a cardiac arrest in a bowl as all you could see was butter. Rice was sticky and gooey. The only thing that was tasty and edible was the Cheese as they bought it from king Island. Your chefs need to be retrained as the kids at McDonald’s would give them a run for their money. Today’s meal was a waste. I would have better off spending that money on the booze to drown my bad experience at this restaurant.
Dee
Decent variation of food but as for seafood? Prawns were mediocre, oysters were OK but tiny & green lip mussels in chilli sauce (some were not cleaned properly & still had beards intact. Where's the crab, octopus & other seafood? After all it was supposed to be seafood buffet & for $69.90 I expected more variety. As for the service, I asked one of 2 waitresses who were too busy chatting, if she would mind clearing our table as emptied plates were piled up. She looked at me as if I had 2 heads. I had to call our waiter over to take our drinks order. Never were we asked if we wanted drinks. Your loss Mesh as we would have spent more & your drinks aren't cheap!!. I ordered a 2nd wine but never received it. It was on our bill & paid for it until I realized the figures didn't add up. The kitchen staff were very slow at replenishing empty platters on the buffet. Very disappointed & won't be back there again. And I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip? No!!
Filledtummy
Worst seafood buffet I've been to date!! Paid $65 only to be served with TINY shelled oysters, frozen prawns, THREE types of sushi selections (chicken teriyaki, tuna & salmon), chilli flavoured mussels and pipis (asian style). You call this SEAFOOD BUFFET?! Who are you kidding? Drinks that was ordered were served after 30 mins (coffee, tea and juices WERE NOT included). This place is totally OVERRATED. Never will I recommend this place..
Global Foodie & Filmy
One of the worst service I have had for a while and that really means bad. Patronising staff who treat you like an item on factory belt during the breakfast buffet. Was not well so had a coffee and asked for one piece of toast. The manager went to explain what is a bufdet and I can have a piece of toast for $22. When I asked if I can have a la carte he wanted me and my friends to move to another part. Could have just taken a toast from the plate of my friend who was having a buffet but did the right thing by asking them. Where do they hire their staff from??

Been here many times over the years. This restaurant is inside Crown Promenade Hotel. Mesh restaurant serves breakfast every morning, on Monday to Thursday serves A la carte menu, Friday, Saturday and Sunday served dinner buffet. <br/><br/>I usually come here for dinner buffet on the weekend. I been to Saturday seafood buffet and the Sunday night buffet. Saturday is higher price because it has seafood and you get 1 complimentary beverage. And there 2 session on Saturday night dinner.<br/><br/>Sunday buffet is cheaper and now cost $48 even tho back then there is a time they had special costing $41. Sunday served dinner from 5 pm to 9 pm. There no session so you won't be rush and can stay longer. Sunday doesn't have many seafood except like prawns and mussels. <br/><br/>This place serve average food and service is ok. Great for family and big group. This restaurant is good if you are in Crown and feel like having buffet food and want somewhere abit classier then Kitchen Workshop. And don't want to spend a lot like at Conservatory. <br/><br/>If you don't eat seafood or don't mind not having a lot of variety. Coming here on Sunday is good value. Can't complain because a lot of place to eat around Crown is pricey. This place is all you can eat and is in Crown Promenade Hotel. 😀

A beautiful venue! Not as easy to find as I imagined but the set up is lovely and the food presentation is great! There's something for everyone and the chocolate fountain is a great attraction! Food was delicious!
George David Michaelides
Not great, for $65 I was expecting a lot more<br/>Sure it’s all you can eat, but who really wants to stuff their face with tiny oysters, some runny butter chicken, some packet tortellini and super sweet desserts ? A serious rethink is in order here I just don’t understand how they can charge that much
The Lovely Fox
Mesh was a slightly above average experience for a decent price.<br/><br/>The venue was nice enough, with some nice decor to match. Clean, spacious and not overcrowded with emphasis on the food itself.<br/><br/>For an all you can eat buffet style, the food was of great quality with seafood fresh and everything being tasty. We have seen more broader selection at other places, but the selection on offer here was adequate. All in all a slightly above average mark for food. The beverages you get are of typical house quality with carlton draught and acidic wine making unwelcome appearances.<br/><br/>Staff were stretched thin, unattentive unless waved at for service. Although when they do arrive they were quick to serve. Staff for carving food were as you would expect, unhappy and unphased to serve.<br/><br/>For $65 (entry and complimentary two drinks) it just barely reaches above average marks.<br/><br/>A 3.5 out of 5.
Donald Yip
One of the best buffets in Melbourne! Great service and atmosphere, and very affordable for what you get. Oysters, prawns, mussels and smoked salmon always a hit
JH
I have been to the Kitchen Workshop and can honestly say it is much better then this buffet. Food is not great, and little variety also. Most of the food was dry including some desserts. All of the oysters we had, had little shards of shell in them. Also for the price you pay, you'd expect that the staff are on top of collecting plates. Instead we had to pile our own plates and wait about 10 minutes for someone to notice that they needed to be taken away.
HungryHippo
came for a family function. wasn't sure what to expect. food was great fresh and constantly replenished. seafood was super fresh and carvery was excellent. dessert was awesome and would recommend for children over 6 as it can get a bit crazy.layout was nice and relaxed to dine in. thankyou

We went there for a special Birthday celebration, 6 of us. The place is very large and by the looks of it it does cater for large tables as well. The food and service was nice, and we did have a great time. The food on the Sunday Lunch was Buffet.
Love At First Bite
Find us on instagram: loveatfirstbite_aus<br/><br/> Mesh is the buffet located on the ground floor of the Crown Promenade Hotel. It is a cut above the more popular and busy Kitchen Workshop buffet. On weekends it offers a seafood buffet and that is what we experienced one Saturday night. There are so many different food stations to choose from, but first things first, let’s talk about the seafood. The options on offer are cooked prawns, fresh oysters, mussels and crab legs. All are cooked and delicious and there are several different sauces and cut lemons on offer as condiments. My favourite combination was the prawns with the thousand island dressing.
David Lai
Very disappointed with the service. We had a group dinner and had to rush my meals. We were told we had to leave in 2 hours. Booked at 6:15 and got evicted at 7:55pm half way through our deserts. Clearly there were no bookings after us - waiters were just keen to finish their shift.
TheyCallHimX
Very nice all you can eat joint. Looked classy and was set up into sections so you didn't feel like you're waiting in a huge line to get the food you want like some other buffets.<br/><br/>Staff were great and efficient. They took away dirty plates quickly. The turnover of food was frequent. So most things tasted pretty fresh.<br/><br/>They had a decent selection of food on the night. But for $70 I expecting a bit more. Some decent deserts to choose from which was the highlight for me.<br/><br/>I had a good night out that's for sure. But would I go back?.. Probably not. Not at that price anyway.
Jennifer
A beautiful buffet if you're staying in at Crown Promenade but yous can still come here for dinner anytime !! A very affordable price for what you devour and this buffet is a super asian buffet
Shaun Lim
Food was really average. Service was also quite slow and the music was absolutely horrible. I would not come again, it is not worth the money
Leanne Dando
This was pretty good when I went. Nice decor and love the dark vibe this restaurant gives. I don't really think they have a wide selection of food but I still quite enjoyed it.
Sebastian A
An extensive and amazing selection of food at this buffet. One of the highlights is the large range of fresh seafood including prawns, crab and oysters.
Taqimonster
Very good menu for a buffet. Includes a lot of variety without going too wild. Great service and friendly staff. You get three complementary drinks for each person. Felt like great value for what you spend.
Reiijoce
Constant replenishment by staff.I enjoyed the fresh prawns, smoked salmon and desserts.Yummy strawberry cheesecake!!!The oysters available this visit was pretty small (6/10).We were seated comfortably at an end corner away from the huge family crowds that were all feasting on Sunday.Good service, nice live music, endless sparkling and soft drinks. yes...i enjoyed it.<br/>Oh they served roasted chicken that were cut into humongous pieces.would be better if they were served in smaller pieces.Afterall this is a buffet and I dont wanna be feeling stuffed after eating that quarter piece.
WingCommander
It's always difficult for a hotel restaurant to maintain an active dinner vs breakfast crowd, and Mesh is no different.<br/><br/>The menu provides a large offering, but those in search of a nutritious but smaller dinner will need to spend time looking more closely. I decided on a Thai Green, which smacked of seafood and flavour. Well presented, with good seafood on top, and a deceptively large piece of cauliflower underneath.<br/><br/>Waitstaff were polite and efficient, but lacked initiative once the inevitable "let's set up for breakfast" command had come from above.<br/><br/>Overall tasty food, okay service, but there are better offerings around for the business traveller dining alone.
Good Food Good Mood
Mesh was the pick for a family birthday as I'm from a family of healthy appetites and we were keen to try the buffet offering. Given how regularly we frequent Melba I found this restaurant horribly disappointing. In fact I've never experienced a buffet before when I didn't feel sick due to over eating but here I could barely find things that were actually appealing. There's lots of fresh seafood on offer but unfortunately I'm really lazy and don't enjoy sitting there peeling prawns (although my dad peeled himself about a kilos worth). It's worth mentioning it's not as expensive as Melba but it's by no means cheap so I wouldn't bother coming back
Chris
We had Christmas celebration here and food was ok. Just unlucky we are not big eaters, so we felt a bit overpriced. Lucky this was company treated, but seriously we won't come back if we need to pay by ourselves. XD
LinDan
Buffet overpriced, food below average. Terrible service. Booked for bday dinner for 35, 5 couldn't make it and was charged cancellation fee of $50 per person. Ridiculous! Never again
TheCubanCigar
Thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas buffet.<br/>The fresh food & desserts were delicious<br/>A great extensive wine menu <br/>The best part- fresh oysters with fresh lemon <br/>The absolute best - a chocolate fountain !!!
Matilda Jeffrey
Quite nice food (buffet style) with heaps of different seafood options, yumcha, and chocolate fountains. Nice place to go out for an event with the family. Nice staff and very clean restaurant. Not the best quality food but pretty good.
Cheeseburger Anyone? "Where's The Sauce"?
Had my Christmas party here.<br/>Man i hate lining up for food! Was in lines for 20minutes! Food wasnt anything special.<br/><br/>Pumpkin soup was nice.<br/>Green vegies were nice.<br/>Peri peri chicken was very dry. Taste was ok.<br/>Baked potatos were ok but needed seasoning<br/>Steaks were bland.. gravy was nice.<br/>Baramundi fish was no good.. strong fishy taste and no seasoning...<br/>Pasta was nice but nothing great.<br/><br/>Drink service was very slow...<br/>Few hours later, cheeseburger it was... sorry but wouldnt come back.. nothing memorable.<br/><br/>
Paola Piccione
Had a celebration a few months ago and 12 of us had diarrhoea.. Crown and Mesh deflected the blame on to us!! we were not happy to say the least. Never again ! Also in speaking to others, two parties had the same experience of illness at major family functions with same response.., take care!<br/>

Buffets in Melbourne should worship at the Melba altar and this is not different. Nice setting, good variety and excellent service. Mains were varied and tasty. Desserts had a lot of choice but not good, apart from the chocolate fountain. Good value, was almost half the price of Melba and Conservatory for same night.
Simyddawg
Dined at Mesh for breakfast, it is OK value. For $33 the buffet is fairly average with a limited range of standard items. Fruit selection was poor with no berries and bunches of grapes that were not really fresh. Eggs cooked to order. For a few extra dollars Conservatory is a far better experience and is a 2 minute walk. I probably wouldn't go back to Mesh for breakfast.
Jess
First experience here, a lunch Sunday buffet. The main choices did not offer that many different options, although nice enough. The desserts were more exciting, bright & fun. Delicious too! <br/><br/>Service was great, one particular female waitress was great! The unlimited champagne was well supplied, staff offered a top up so many times - were not left waiting.
Olahn Zaft
Good buffet overall with an inviting and modern setting.<br/>Pros.<br/>- Decent seafood. Could eat 20 prawns easily, nice indeed.<br/>- Can cater for big groups of people. Family parties or friendly gatherings.<br/>- Waiter service is very good.<br/><br/>Cons<br/>- Desert is nice but could be better, as in more choices of cakes or puddings, selection is a rung below other buffets near or at crown.<br/><br/><br/>It's a nice place for buffet, but it can be better.<br/>I recommend it for people looking for a place for big groups or a nice atmosphere with nice food.

This place is amazing ! The decor is absolutely stunning! And the staff are very attentive! The menu has variety! The food was lovely and well priced for being in the crown promenade ! The salmon was cooked amazing, started to dry out near the end. Steak was amazing though. Had problem with eftpos for 5 mins but everything else was perfect
Sylvia's POV
Typical hotel restaurant with food a little above average. Had grilled salmon, steak and grilled potatos on the side. The salmon was cooked well and not overcooked (just right). Steak was a little dry although we asked for medium rare. <br/>For dessert we shared an Apple and Rhubarb tart. Certainly an interesting dessert with a strong rhubarb taste and hints of apple.<br/>Staff were nice and attentive, thankfully, we came on a quite night so, the busy dinner rush was avoided.
Isle
Mesh is a tranquil place of dining. Everytime we book, there's muted noise, unlike other restaurants at Crown. I love their steaks and salads. The braised beef cheeks and mash are delicious too.

Great all you can eat buffet. Would really recommend the deserts the chocolate fountain looked really amazing. A little pricey but what can you expect from restaurants at crown . Over all good experience with good food and good service.
Food Lover
We went in a group of 5 for dinner, food was amazing at least most of it, there were many different cuisines and a variety of different food. I loved the diversity presented through the food. <br/>The desserts weren't great the tiramisu ice cream tasted to much like alcohol and the vanilla ice cream tasted like medicine, but the chocolate fountain was awesome who doesn't like to see melted milk chocolate drip down. MAJOR PLUS.<br/>Over all food was good, ambience was good and I will most certainly be back. <br/><br/>Thanks. Mesh❤️

Really am a fan of this place for the buffet. The food is excellent and the environment is warm and cozy. Only downside is that the main food/savoury variety is small whereas the dessert is large. Would like to see more dishes for main/savoury other than cold food or starters. $70+ per person for a buffet is on the pricier end but if you are in for a treat it does not dissapoint.

Classy & Clean restaurant with friendly staff. We dined on a Sunday buffet night and considering the price there is not a huge selection of food on offer. Very simple and uninspiring choices, however, they have gone to great lengths to impress with the dessert menu. It would be nice if coffee & tea was included in the price to make a more worthwhile dining experience.

The staff were great and very friendly. The restaurant is spacious and the decor is really pretty. I had the salmon and it was very tender. It was placed on some asparagus with butter sauce which were also full of flavour! Overall a very smooth and positive experience.

Good value for money! Everyone is happy! Kids help themselves, we help ourselves, food is fresh and keeps on coming! The dessert bar is great too! The staff are a bit slow on the drinks though!
Rebecca
This buffet is not bad. Very Good service and some wine and soft drink are included. Fruit is fresh and the roast beef is pretty good. but there are not that various choices.

Nice atmosphere, clean and spacious. I got seated right next to the band where it was so loud I couldn't even hear myself. Service was a bit slow as our waiter didn't clean our table before we returned, so we had to clean it ourselves multiple times, taking up a lot of space on the table. Food selection wasn't wide but the quality and flavour of food was amazing. The salted caramel choux with whipped creme was the winner of the night 👌

Worst dining expirience I've had in a long time.<br/><br/>With a mere 6 other seated tables dining, it took at least ten minuts to be offered water. By the time we were eventually offered drinks we were ready to order mains but it was insisted that we just ordered drinks. <br/><br/>Eventually we ordered food, entrees were delivered before our first round of drinks, I had to get up and ask where they were after 20 minutes of waiting. <br/><br/>My steak then arrived cold, and by the time it was remade my partner had finished his meal. <br/><br/>Evening was absolutely terrible. I will not be returning to this venue.
Dam Burger
Typical hotel restaurant with basic meals (like pub meals) at slightly inflated prices. Parma was tasty at $24 but only came with chips so had to order a side of veggies. Wines were ok but at $12 a small glass they would want to be. Service was good though friendly and attentive. 1.65% surcharge to use any credit card is a scam, this is Australia put the full price on the menu don't add surcharges after!

I've been in this place twice and every time I was completely satisfied with my choice. The price is not very high compared with other luxury dining places in Melbourne CBD. <br/>I love their steaks, as the beef melts in your mouth. It's beautifully marinated and cooked. <br/>I love the environment as it's not crowded and you can enjoy your meal calmly. <br/>We had birthday cake with us and they brought onto our table without charging us for an extra money while other restaurants do.

Came here for the $41 sunday dinner buffet special. It was really good value. Prawns and the roast lamb were at good quality. Foods were refilled efficiently. Waiters were also friendly and attentive. Overall it was a nice buffet dinner, just the food variety wasn't large enough.

Have dined for breakfast a couple of times now and the food is very good. Could have a greater selection including some hollandaise sauce. The bacon is great with is char grilled smokey flavour.

Good breakfast and very reasonably priced. <br/>Nice staff. <br/>I was staying at the hotel and later that day I ordered food by the pool, the food served at the deck comes from Mesh. This was also very nice.
Farzana
Mesh is located within the Crown Promenade hotel and is perhaps the quintessential 'hotel restaurant' - catering for hotel guests, wedding functions or simply family dinners like ours. It's a great space - lots of room, neat decor that isn't too overstated. The menu has tastes from around the world - green beef curry, butter chicken, pasta and staples like steak and fish. However to me, it felt quite limited, especially the starters which was a major let down unfortunately. The food we ordered was good though. Service was professional and efficient despite an order mishap which they were genuinely apologetic about. The desserts were great - especially the frangipane tart and sticky date pudding. Overall, it's a nice enough restaurant if you're looking for a no nonsense meal near crown.

Sunday Buffet lunch very nice great range of seafood , pasta , salads and desserts were very nice . Staff were attentive to your needs for $60.00 ahead would definitely go back . Only complaint there really isn't any close parking for elderly people.

Came here for our work Christmas lunch and had the festive buffet menu ($55 p/p includes a glass of wine). <br/>There seemed to be only one lady pouring drinks and she gave us the option of white or red. We had to ask to get sparkling. We matter ordered two bottles of sparkling which took a while for staff to pour. <br/>The food was decent. Most of the food was replenished through the sitting.<br/>Notable standouts include the seafood (prawns & mussels) which was fresh, the turkey ( from the carvery), the bread rolls, the ice cream and stollen bread and pudding. <br/>Noticeable failures were the penne pasta and noodles. <br/>The bill was incorrect but this amended by staff.

Love, love, love this place! Wonderful selection of food, very fresh, very tasty and very high quality. Trendy decor and ambiance, liked the band playing soft grooves and jazz in the background. Not to mention great value, visited on a Friday night, kids eat free, adults only $59.99 and that included three drinks of beer, wine or soft drinks for each of us. Terrific value!! Nice selection of fresh seafood, king prawns, mussles, oysters were wonderful. <br/><br/>Cannot fault this place at all, just terrific. We will be coming back for Christmas eve dinner with the rest of the family. Looking forward to it!

Mr X and I decided to head into the city for a day of exploring. Crown Melbourne had those lunch specials again so we thought we would give it a go again. The last time we tried it was back in May at Jimbo and Rex (click on the link to read the review) and it wasn’t good. However, this time it was much better .

Had the $12.95 steak dinner. Asked for it to be cooked medium, and it was rather well done. The green pepper sauce had a strange taste to it- bursts of spice, salt and at times bland. Wouldn't say it was amazing, but can't complain given the price. Upgraded to have a bottle of red wine, and it was drinkable but quite dry and not very memorable.<br/>Nice ambiance and location, as well as a very very affordable price, but not the tastiest meal I've had by a long shot.

Great Value Great Meal!<br/>Tried Mesh $12.95 dinner deal.<br/>We had the steak, grill chicken and the upgrade for baby barramundi.<br/>Everything is nicely cooked and served. <br/>

Came here for a work lunch. Excellent value for money. For $12.95 I had beef cheeks with vegetables, lentils and mash potato. They didn't reduce the serving size just because it was a lunch deal - I left feeling full and content. Big venue but not enough staff so service was minimal.

Last night, September 15, we went to Mesh to celebrate the success of my brother and his family in getting their permanent residency. I, together with my brother and sister with their respective families, went to dine at around 7:00pm. We were acknowledged and escorted to the table by the manager who speedily arranged the table for 9 without questioning us, without even asking our names. Thank you for that.<br/><br/>We ordered and began eating our food. While we were enjoying the discussion of my brother's feat, a team leader gently asked my sister about the food that my nephew was eating, a rice and pieces of grilled meat, which my sister brought because my nephew has multiple allergies. He had this since he was a child. My brother-in-law and my sister politely explained to the team leader that because of the multiple allergy, my nephew is only allowed to eat only that food and the chips they ordered. Then we ate again, then the team leader politely told us that it could not be tolerated. We pleaded that if the child could not eat anything, he would get hungry and Wantirna South is so far. He understood, however, the child, intelligent that he is, got upset, cried and did not want to eat.<br/><br/>Then we convinced the child to eat again and it is alright. It is not his fault to have allergies and he could eat his food. My heart was bleeding seeing him in that situation.<br/><br/>Clearly, our attention, went to the issue, instead of the reason of celebration this evening.<br/><br/>Suddenly, the manager , went to our table with a commanding presence. She was so direct, even in front of the child, that she could not tolerate such food. She was so tough and argumentative and asked if the child could eat chips, then that was the only food he could eat in the restaurant. In short, the child could not eat his food, full stop. She was not convinced that the child did not have any allergies at all because she went to asking, "Why is he eating other food?". What a disgusting attitude . I asked her if she wanted the records of the child.<br/><br/>The manager pointed out that we did not tell her about it even if there was no notice outside of the restaurant. She said that it is a common rule, denying all the explanation that we had. She was as if the owner of the restaurant, a manager without alternative in a situation like this. I pointed out how she would remedy the situation but the only way is to stop eating. The manner she told us the policy was so rude, unacceptable and unprofessional. She was so persistent and looked at us in a way that we were not really allowed in such restaurant.<br/><br/>Assuming that there was neglect on our part to tell about the multiple allergies of my nephew, she should have said it in a nice way. It was not what she said, it was how she said it . She offended not only us, but the child. The child believed that it was not right to have allergies. Because of the manager's voice and actuations, the child felt that ALLERGIES are very wrong and something to be ashamed of. What if at first, we mentioned about the allergies, would she not allow us to get in?<br/><br/>Does Mesh Restaurant abhor children with multiple allergies? Is Mesh Restaurant indifferent with children with MULTIPLE ALLERGIES? That was feeling we felt when she was confronting us. We haven't finished our food because of the continued interruptions. We felt that your staff robbed the child of his right to eat his food and the right to enjoy a short-lived dinner.<br/><br/>We decided to pay the bill without finishing our food. I asked for the bill. Then the manager hurriedly got the bill and slammed it on the right side of my table. Because we were very professional, we paid our bill without asking nothing. Then we found out that there was an automatic tip to add insult to the injury. Do we give tip in insulting us, denying the child to eat and not letting us enjoy the food that we paid?<br/><br/>Our experience with MESH tonight, here at MELBOURNE, the most liveable city in the world, was so FRUSTRATING, INSULTING AND UNACCEPTABLE. Tonight, i am convinced that I would not eat in this restaurant anymore because of the manager's attitude towards a child with multiple allergies.<br/><br/>We hope that we hear from you the soonest.<br/><br/>My email is renansulit@gmail.com<br/><br/>#mesh #melbourne #victoria #australia #multipleallergies #allergies#discriminationagainstchildren #complaint #discrimination @sevennews @currentaffairs

Had the Sunday seafood buffet. It has a pretty good selection of seafood I would say. Not an amazing array of seafood platter arranged on a stretch of bain-marie. They had the important few however, tiger prawns, salmon, fish, oysters, mussels, oct and crabs. Had a grill station too. Meat was fine. Desserts however was pretty amazing. Had many different types of cakes and tarts. Not to mention they had the all mandatory choc fountain. Well... The best was their free flow sparkling wine... Who could deny that offer?

Definitely can't complain about $12.95 porterhouse steak I ate for lunch yesterday. Will return to try the buffet at some stage. Service and staff was also very good

Arrived right on time for an appointment and greeted in a friendly manner. Great array of seafood, but everything else was ordinary. Desert was amazing though as recent reviews have expected. Decent buffet for the price.

Very good quality food for a buffet. Food regularly gets replenished, including oysters and seafood, and roast/lamb. Truly an all-you-eat without to compete with other diners. $65 per head including one complimentary drink.
Only Truth
I came for the buffet. The food was nice. The chilli crab was great. Atmosphere is nice. They probably need a couple more mains but that's just being picky.

Been here for the buffet, good set out, nice decor very modern but the actual buffet is nothing to special & definitely not work the price tag. I was pregnant at the time I went so was limited to what I could eat. Rather me just being safe & not wanting to take the risk. Not much of a seafood selection, just your everyday type of food. The best part here is the desserts, they are always been replenished quickly, bite sized so you can try a few different ones without too much wastage. Luckily I am a sweet tooth, so I didnt mind that I had plenty of room for dessert & tried a few different items. Everything is well presented & spaced out so your not waiting too long. This place gets really busy so i suggest a booking is a must. good atmosphere & staff were lovely.

The atmosphere was nice and our waiter was friendly and attentive. Had the steak and it was cooked perfectly, but tasted like a mouthful of charcoal. Way to ruin a good cut. Disappointing end to the night.
.
Decent price for a crown restaurant. Only $12.95 mon- thurs for 300g steak with salad and chips. The cut was slightly too thick for my liking, therefore making it harder to cut into. Other than that, it was a lovely restaurant with great ambiance.
Jenster
For a seafood buffet, this is quite good value, because one only has to eat two dozen oysters and a main to roughly break even, and the cost included drinks and dessert
