Review Fable - Melbourne

It was a great dining experience. Friendly and helpful staff, great view and delicious dishes. My date is vegetarian so I ditched meat for the night. Their veggie skewers were surprisingly satisfying for a meat eater like me. Mushrooms especially, were amazing. Zucchini balls were very enjoyable too. Saganaki cheese was so great that we are sorry to say we'll never be able to go vegan. They made the virgin mojito just right as well. Not overly minty or too sweet.

MAD MELINA VIBES ! 👌 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷 Came here for a quick drink late one night. This place has AWESOME views. 🏙 Drink were tasty and proper serving sizes! Very rare to see. 🍸 Prices were obviously city prices so prepare yourselves. Didn't try any of the food so cant comment. Great music playing as well. This place would be perfect for a function room. Staff service was friendly but not super speedy. Easy to find. Lift access up and city parking around if you dare. Would recommend and return here. 🤝🙏👌

Food was good but a bit too expensive for what it was. Most staff members were lovely and professional, except one lady who started pooling together the content of several plates because we were running out of space on our table while her colleague was checking if we could get an extra table, which we got in the end. The view from the rooftop and general atmosphere is also nice.

What an amazing location! Great views! Great service - friendly and welcoming! Great selection of food and all of it was absolutely delicious - loved it all! Theo and his team looked after us and made us feel very special! Highly recommended!

A Greek Restaurant, that can be hard to find but offers a very beautiful view of the city. The initial few seconds of check-in weren't the most engaging one as the staff seemed a bit lost or new, but it picked up, for good. Orders a Kheftetakiya and Chicken Skewers with glasses of wine. Everything on the plate was yum....Succulent and juicy!! The food on plate just made our day, and guess what, it.isnt expensive at all. A must !!

Delicious Greek food, hidden up the top of the Greek centre. Visited here with a few friends for dinner, as you walk in - you're greeted with a very modern Greek interior with a slight touch of tradition. It felt very classy like a warm Greek island setting. The Food The menu had a good variety of traditional Greek dishes and was great for sharing between a small group. We ordered the chicken and lamb skewers, ravioli, dip, chips and a few salads. Must say everything was on point. Nothing really stood out but we enjoyed the dishes thoroughly. Desert Good selection, perhaps a few of them were too sweet. The Baklava was too sweet, the mud cake was so good and the lemon tart was average. Service Waiters were attentive, one of them was funny and the manager/owner came out and said hello. Overall Great views, good food and extremely atmospheric. Good for dates, business lunches and small group divers. 8/10

Great venue and menu options. Being a vegetarian, there is a variety for me to choose from. I thoroughly enjoy the Halloumi and vegetable skewers here. The Risoni pasta tasted like canned tomatoes so that can definitely be improved. Last night I had my wedding anniversary dinner here and a staff member called Kripa went out of her way to make us feel special. Lovely service from her.

Superb service for a massive Christmas party. They sat us on the terrace, overlooking Lonsdale and seeing David Jones Bridge and the top of the arts centre. My photos do no justice, the venue is stunning! Unfortunately the amenities were under construction (which they did not inform the party of 39, 1 of whom was heavily pregnant) and we then had to go down 8 floors to a 2 cubicle unisex bathroom that the Greek celebrations on level 2 were also sharing. Lucky for elevators, but extremely annoying all the same as they appeared to have people constantly in and out of the elevators and so you could wait up to 5 minutes just to get on a lift. Otherwise tho, I could not fault the service, we had some wonderful waiters and the manager stayed on top of our table. From being in hospitality, I know how difficult managing a crowd like that can be, but he never let us down. Chef is phenomenal! I'm not overly fond of Greek cuisine (apart from the basics) but they served a spectacular spread of dishes for all. The Saganaki was perfection!

Had my 30th Birthday here last night and can I just say that it was the best celebration i have ever had!! The food was amazing and plentiful, the atmosphere was electric and the staff felt like family!! We had the balcony section towards the back with a surrounding view of Melbourne and the venue were so accommodating that they let us set up some music and decorations! It was a perfect blend of cocktail party, bit of dancing, food and conversation! Highly highly recommend this venue for functions! and again, massive shout out to the staff that were sooo on point with everything including helping us with set up .

We had the absolute pleasure of having a family dinner for my daughters 18th at Melina on the rooftop tonight, the food was delicious, the view was amazing, the atmosphere was wonderful but hands down the best thing was the service, friendly, attentive and just made our whole night. Felt like dining with our friends hosting. Just superb, can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you!!

Food, Service & Views Highly recommend the anti pasto platter, crumbed saganaki, baby calamari & the meat skewers. Everything was great and we couldn’t fault one thing. Very reasonable priced too. Can’t wait to come back in summer when the roof is off.

Delicious food- the tenderest lamb, a well dressed Greek salad and some of the best calamari I have eaten - all washed down with a great Greek bottle of red. Terrific views over Melbourne- friendly bar staff- what more could you want.

Went to Melina last night for our Anniversary and wasn't impressed they confirmed our booking 4hours before arriving but not only that they didn't even get the name right was calling my husband Mark and his name was James we got there early and they couldn't find our booking which we did 3 weeks ago and had printed the confirmation email of the booking but they did give us a table we then ordered our meals the calamari were lovely but the scallops, Greek Salad and chips were not what we expected. Scallops oily the Greek Salad also oily and the chips well cold and soggy. This restaurant was recommended to us I was very disappointed and also the salt container on the table was dirty and disgusting. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to my family or friends

First impression....nice location. Second impression....awesome smells. Best impression.... the taste! Happy to recommend this restaurant to diners who truly love Greek food and the loud happiness of sharing that food. I loved it! The lady in the lift area that was bitching about the noise in the restaurant, you don't need to return.

Good food. Great ambiance. The waitress was a bit annoying. Honestly wanted to shoo her away. Just a little too attentive. But dedicate will come back. Want to bring my hubby to this joint

Review edited 15/10/2017 We returned to Melina on the Rooftop last night for dinner. The restaurant, the food, and most importantly, the staff are wonderful. We were waited on by Sotiris who was perfection. He was attentive, but not overbearing and recommended the most divine cocktail I have ever tasted. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful and the view was lovely. We will absolutely be back. Thank you Melina, I'm so glad we gave you another chance. We were supposed to dine at Melina on the Rooftop last night. I made our reservation 3 weeks ago. Received a reminder the day of our booking via email. Drove an hour in to the city and paid for parking only to be told when we got there that the restaurant was closed for a private function. When questioning the manager on duty he advised that all he could do was "offer his condolences". Currently waiting for the manager/owner to give me a call. Not impressed at all Melina on the Rooftop!

Excellent evening; food absolutely delicious, stunning views, food came out quickly, hot and fresh. (Just a bit weird and confusing bathroom set up.)

Such a gem! Love visiting this place. Great atmosphere. I can't wait to return after COVID! Although a little pricy and smaller servings than anticipated, still a great place to visit with family and friends!

Heard good reports and checking out the website felt good about going, but arriving at the venue very disappointed. The place was a bit of a cafe style not restaurant <br/>Food was tasty but ambience missing <br/>Prices a bit outrages $23 for one chicken skewer with a pide bread .. oh and a lemon wedge <br/>Feels like it could be so much more but just missing that certain thing that would make me say that I’ll be back..

We had a strange experience at Melina. Booked a table for late lunch and were only told when we arrived that they were closing in 30 min....We stayed for a quick drink before moving on. Pity because we’ve heard good things about the food here. Might pop in if we’re in the area again.

My boyfriend and I had dinner at Melina on the Rooftop on Friday and absolutely loved it. I have dined here once before and remembering loving the food and had to come back again with my partner. We shared the calamari, the BBQ pork ribs and pasta dish I can’t remember the name of! The food was absolutely amazing! You seriously couldn’t fault it at all. The owners and staff were super friendly and set the relaxed atmosphere to the restaurant. I definitely recommend having dinner at Melina.

Not worth the price at all<br/>Feta with bread: feta cheese was really dry?? Pita bread is really thin and hollow<br/>Octopus: was not well described in the menu, it was actually a tentacle of octopus, well seasoned but too oily and such a tiny portion for $21<br/>Pasta ravioli: tastes alright, nothing special.<br/>In sums, the food was average, service was average, the atmosphere is great but can’t help this place uprated. Still prefer tsindos in regards of greek food

This place was much smaller than expected and there was only one other table when we arrived on a weeknight. Fantastic view of the lights of Melbourne. We were greeted by a friendly and enthusiastic Greek fella at the door and allowed to choose our table. For starters we had saganaki which is always tasty, octopus which was a generous sized portion but lacking any real flavour and the koupes which were ok but once again, lacking any real flavour. Mains was a chicken skewer and the fries with feta. $23 for a chicken skewer seemed a little outrageous. We asked for the fries to come with the chicken, but it didn’t, they came 10 minutes earlier. The older Greek gentleman organised a fresh batch of chips for us to go with the chicken. The girl serving wasn’t really on the ball, and considering there was only two other tables, it was a little disappointing. This cost $100 for 2 people. We were full, but the quality of food wasn’t there. We ate at Gazi last week, and that’s only a little more expensive but much, much better.

Delicious food in a cosy restaurant with amazing views!<br/><br/>Went here with my partner and we ordered a variety of dishes and desert and were very satisfied!<br/>Our top recommendations would be the Chorizo, Lamb Skewer and Keftethakia! <br/><br/>Only downside I’d have to say would be the shock when we got the bill at the end. We didn’t expect it to be cheap considering we ordered 4 entrees, 1 main and a dessert, however we ordered alcohol throughout the dinner and we were charged $20 per vodka, not cocktails, just vodka which was much more than I’ve ever paid and I’m a religious vodka drinker. Plus the 10% Saturday surcharge was in my eyes unnecessary as I’m sure Saturday would be their busiest day.<br/><br/>Service was amazing, food was amazing and I’ll definitely be back, just without the vodkas next time!

Melbourne has entered into the depth of Winter without a warning, but here I am, still clinging onto rooftop bars. Although it’s nothing like bathing in the Summer sunshine with a cocktail in your hand, there is still something charming about sitting snugly under some heaters with a view. All that is to say, we decided to have dinner at Melina on the Rooftop recently.
Teomelvin39
Booked a table of 2 online and once arrived at the door, was told they were fully booked out. Was told to sit at the bar, directly at the register. unsatisfied!

3.5 🌟<br/>We popped into Melina on the Rooftop for a quick dinner before a comedy show, and were impressed with the beautiful location - would love to return in summer to better enjoy the view!<br/><br/>We had the Saganaki ($16.50), Fries with spicy feta dip ($12), Chargrilled Octopus ($21), Chicken BBQ skewer ($23) and ‘Dip In’ ($18) a trio of dips (tamara, tzatziki and spicy feta). We substituted for gluten free pita and overall the menu is quite gluten free friendly although these items aren’t clearly marked.<br/><br/>Everything was fresh and delicious but agree with other reviewers that the prices are pretty hefty, especially when the serving sizes are so small. The octopus and chicken in particular were very small portions. Highlights were the dips - they were all really delicious - but wish they came with more pita!<br/><br/>Overall a good experience and would recommend Melina for a special occasion or date - the location is super romantic, just make sure you come early enough to enjoy the view!

We ate dinner here mid-week. We ordered tamra dip with pita, saganaki, Greek salad, calamari and bbq lamb. The service was good but the quality of the food and the atmosphere was average. The calamari was over cooked and rubbery. The salad had tomatoes in it that were too ripe & mushy (ie. not fresh). The lamb was tough & lacked flavour. The sagnaki was the best dish, generous serving and cooked well. In terms of the atmosphere, we did not have a booking so we had to sit outside the main restaurant were there is extra seating. That area feels like a cafeteria. The floors were dirty, the furniture is old. Together with the marquee like covering over the rooftop, made the place seem really tacky. I honestly would have preferred to wait for a table in the main dining area. Overall nothing amazing & even though it’s reasonably priced, we probably won’t be back.

Ask for a table outside (covered with heaters) so you can enjoy dinner on the rooftop with a wonderful view! Great fresh Greek dishes. Great dips, pita break, octopus and skewers! Highly recommend to bring a group of friends so you can share and try many of their dishes.
Linda
Food was great although dishes came out in a strange order, also service was friendly however they never brought the cocktail list after we asked twice to see it

This place is lovely, you get a nice view of Melbourne on the rooftop and the food is delicious. We had the banquet for two and there was so much food! Favourites were the bread and dips (one of the best I’ve had), the zucchini patties and the fried calamari. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
DP
Undercooked octopus at $21 (not even a full octopus leg)<br/>"Chorizo" at $16, plate full of onions, and 6 pieces of sausage (chorizo like style)<br/>Chicken skewers at $23 only one came with a side of chili mayo and a bit of pita bread.<br/>Portions are definitely small and extremely pricey for what you get. This place has no "filoxeneia" or "filotimo", nothing to do with a proper Greek restaurant and what Greek food represents!!!
Sk99
Really nice secluded rooftop bar/restaurant. Such great service too and extremely accomodating. Food is really tasty and good quality so you are paying for what you get.

DISGUSTINGLY RUDE BARTENDER AND MANAGER, MISLEADING MENU. We mistakenly ordered a $50 ‘jug’ when we wanted the $21 cocktail. When the ‘jug’ arrived we had no idea it wasn’t the cocktail we ordered as this is our first time at the restaurant and the drink came in a large cocktail glass, not the usual shape of a jug. When presented with the bill we kindly questioned the staff about the mistake only to be flamed by the bartender as he called us “stupid” for not knowing what a cocktail is. How is it our fault when really this restaurant’s menu is just stupidly misleading with 0 pictures as a guide.. What’s the point of having average food & view when you have horrible customer service. Don’t waste your time and money on this place if you don’t want your mood to be ruined.
Katherine
Horrible customer service from a staff. The ‘manager’ had taken our order without even explaining which drink it was. We pointed to the cocktail which was $21 however, later was charged with the $50 “jug”. When questioned upon this, the manager claimed that he asked if we wanted the drink in a funnel shape glass. Unknowingly thinking it was the $21 drink we POINTED to, apparently it was the $50 ‘jug’ lol. We presumed that it was simply the presentation of the drink, however to later find out when the bill came that the drink was the ‘jug’, without proper explanation of our order we came up to one of the staff to question further. I have never experienced such horrible and atrocious customer service. Disgusting and pathetic to be called “stupid” by their staff to think that the big GLASS funnel shape drink was $21... How dare you speak to a customer in such a shameful and rude approach. Insulting us as “stupid” to think that drink was $21. Never in my life have I witnessed such childish and immature behaviour from a restaurant. Absolutely shocking. this is my first time eating at this restaurant. How in the world do you seriously expect a customer to know what they are ordering and yet have the audacity to insult a customer in such a disgusting manner. That is utterly unacceptable. When complained to the ‘manager’ who was the person taking our order, he acted as if it was our fault for not knowing...Excuse me? Since when was ordering food from a menu you’ve never seen before common sense. and I thought ‘managers’ were supposed to understand rather than simply addressing the problem on us. Do you even qualify to be a manager. Obviously if you were a professional restaurant, you would assert your customers what they are ordering. Never coming back or recommending anyone to this restaurant. Food proportions were nothing compared to the price. Only good thing was the view which did not even make up for the poor customer service and quality of food. all the best with your future customers :) hope you restaurant flourishes as well as the view it offers

This place is a bit tricky to find initially as it’s located in an office building. But once your upstairs it’s a nice comfortable restaurant more so than a bar. <br/><br/>This is a Greek restaurant/bar w a good menu and a solid drink menu. This bar is enclosed so there is no worries about inclement weather lol<br/><br/>I had a couple of drinks here, initially a cricketers arms lager which was good then I had a local Pinot Noir, called Giants Steps LDR which was delicious! Mmnn hahaha ... oh and the glasses were filled European style. <br/><br/>I tried lots of different dips which were all really tasty and the pita bread was hot and soooo good. <br/><br/>Still peckish I had some crumbed saganaki cheese which was good but sooo greasy, and swimming in oil in the pan and drizzled w honey! Gosh one mouthful was enough but I kept going after ordering some lemon wedges to cut through the sweetness which helped. <br/><br/>Overall this was a nice experience.

Not ideal to visit Melina when it's cold as they close off the rooftop but I imagine it'd be a great spot to hang out for a meal at night during summer or even just for a drink. <br/><br/>We got a variety of dips with pita. The taramosalata (fish roe) was definitely my favourite dip and was the first to go, briny and creamy. We also had lima beans in a cute little skillet, tomatoy and complimented with some sweet carrots. Bread to mop up that sauce.<br/><br/>The fried baby calamari was a favourite, I stole the tentacle pieces as they retained maximum crispiness after being quickly fried. Well seasoned and with lemon to cut through the oiliness, some tartare if you wanted some creamy sweetness.<br/><br/>We also got a combination of lamb and chicken skewers to share, chicken is chicken but the lamb was perfectly cooked, lean and juicy. Eaten with pita, a couple dips and lemon for seasoning. Greek salad also came in tow.<br/><br/>We were full but could not skip dessert. Unfortunately they were not serving loukoumades so we went for the galaktombouriko instead, a dessert I've not yet tried. The filo was thin on top and the custard was suprisingly more dense than I thought. It was sweet with the syrup poured around it and went well with a hot strong coffee on the side. Coffee was average but paired with the dessert was bliss.<br/><br/>With the Greek restaurants shutting up shop on Lonsdale, Melina on the Rooftop is one that goes unnoticed at the ground level. Worth a shot.

Very nice food but recent price increases have made eating here a less attractive option – especially for lunch.<br/><br/>You won't be disappointed with the quality of the food but portion sizes are lacking and the price tags are hefty. $27 for two lamb medium size skewers and a small side of dip is a bit rich – despite how nice the lamb is.<br/><br/>$12 for a plate of fries and dip – you've got to be joking.<br/><br/>They used to have a pretty reasonable lunch menu but that's gone now, replaced with a tappas menu where half a skewer is $13. <br/><br/>Just last week I went for lunch and you could get a nice Greek Burger for about $17 – still dear but a great deal more reasonable than its current offerings.<br/><br/>So today we ordered some mains to share but would've been left hungry if it wasn't for the large amount of bread they serve. Well at last you don't leave hungry but feels a bit like you're on rations.<br/><br/>Sakinaki (excuse spelling ... I think) was delicious, as were the lamb skwerers and dips. Fries are just that – thick cut chips would be easier to dip in.<br/><br/>Service was polite but my comment on the small portion size and new menu fell on deaf ears.<br/><br/>Delicious food, just not enough of it and we left feeling ripped off, especially since we'd had such a positive experience last week with the former menu. Shame.

I came here for a friend’s birthday celebration and it was great that they could take a large booking without a time limit. I ordered the chorizo which turned out to be way too salty and oily (there was a lot of oil left over after I finished the dish). The small serving size suited me well but I wouldn’t say it’s good value for money. I also had a taste of my friend’s BBQ pork ribs and found them pretty average tasting and too charred for my liking. The fries were yummy though. The rooftop view was quite nice but I don’t think I’d come back for the food.
TheFitFoodie
Terrific Greek food! My girlfriend and I came here for her birthday night and had a great time. I requested in the booking for a table with a view which is what we got. Great service, fantastic menu with plenty of options for vegetarians also. Great cocktail list and well priced - approx $170 for 2 with plenty of dishes of food and drinks. The halloumi was probably our favourite dish of the night although it was all really good. It was a Saturday night but if you’re looking for a “romantic quiet night” this is probably not the place as it was very busy and noisy (no problem for us we loved it).

Came here last night for a birthday, we ordered the dinner banquet, and was sooo good and filling! Staff were so friendly and view was 👌 will definitely be back!

What a shame, What a disappointment...............<br/><br/>After such a delicious meal, with amazing wine we left with a sour taste in our mouths.<br/><br/>I psychically went up to the bar to pay for the bill, and left a tip. I went back to the table to my guests grabbed our bags to leave, as we were walking out we were stopped by the head waiter and he asked If we were heading down for a cigarette, I answered NO he then looked at us and was like then would you like to settle the bill as we are closing up so you wont be able to come back up!!!! I gave him a firm stare and was like the bill has been settled..... If he had any level of respect, cutesy or professionalism he would of checked the system or asked the gentleman If the bill was settled before accusing me of not paying...... That was absolutely disgusting I cannot believe he did what he did and to top it off he had a smirk on his face. Now I really dont know if that is how you train your staff to treat your PAYING customers but that was enough to make me write this review and not speak positively about this restaurant.

Loved the location the second I walked in. The atmosphere is just as good as the view, and the view is spectacular.<br/>We ordered heaps, like heaps, of share plates. It was too many in the end for just 2 of us but holy moly, every plate was fantastic. With the restaurant full to bursting I had thought there might have a been a slip or 2 with quality but I was wrong. Every plate was cooked to perfection and presented well.<br/>Even though the staff were ran off their feet they were still courteous and polite.<br/>This place is a gem in Melbourne. Go there and try the beautiful greek food on offer

Lovely food ( fast service ) <br/>Very happy , helpful staff . This was our anniversary dinner and first time to Melina on the roof and we were welcomed warmly and seated by a nice floor manager , waitress was delightful and helpful, 10/10 to the kitchen food was amazing and fast , bartenders made some tasty cocktails ( Greek old fashion 🙌) huge fan . What was nice was the manager helped celebrate our anniversary with a tasty Greek shot witch went down a treat . <br/>We had such a great time here I highly recommend anyone to try for yourself. <br/>Service great . <br/>Over all made for a enjoyable night out with my girl .

A hidden spot on top of a office block with great views across town. The Saganaki is great and it's well worth ordering the octopus. Wine list is drinkable.
Ella
Best food I’ve ever had. Really affordable prices, and tasty meals. Unfortunately, the customer service wasn’t great. The waitresses either didn’t show any care towards their jobs and customers, or food messily at the counter, or they were too flamboyant- all of which are unprofessional. 3 stars.
Melace
Food was fantastic. Well priced. Basically had to roll home and we only ordered three things between two. Felt like that kind of place you’d only know about through word of mouth from your Greek friend.
Speccy
Awesome hidden rooftop restaurant selling authentic Greek food. Service was friendly, accommodating & super warm for even a casual lunch for one, with a beautiful lamb wrap & salad. All the plates full of skewers, dips & pitas around me looked amazing, amid the city skyline views. Can't wait to come back with a group

Caught up with a work colleague from interstate. We wanted to catch up for a drink and noted that it was Happy Hour so we wondered in.<br/><br/>What a great suprise the roof top views were so beautiful. We enjoyed a lovely red and cider. As we sat there enjoying the views we decided to stay for dinner.<br/><br/>We started off with the  Saganaki the traditional pan fried kefalogaviera cheese served with lemon and Octopus that was chargrilled served with traditional olive oil, lemon and oregano dressing was delicious and very tender.<br/><br/>I ordered the Lamb which was traditionally marinated in extra virgin olive oil, garlic and greek herbs served with a side of tzaziki and my friend had thechicken marinated sweet paprika and garlic served with a side of chilli mayo. Overall the proteins were cooked well but the dips tasted a bit weird.<br/><br/>We also ordered a Greek salad of tomato, cucumber, Spanish onion, capsicum topped with Greek feta and kalamata olives, drizzled with olive oil vinegar dressing.<br/><br/>We finished the night with the homemade<br/>Baklava the sweet dessert pastry filled with chopped nuts and coated in honey and sugar syrup was do decadent. I ordered the lemon tart and I must admit i had food envy as I felt that the tart base was under cooked. Overall it was a very generous serving.<br/><br/>Service was on point throughout the night  and all the staff were very attentive. Will be back for sure.
Donm
What a fantastic restaurant. <br/>We sat on the balcony which was a little windy but still very nice. <br/>The food and wine were amazing. <br/>The staff are very attentive without being in your face.

We loved Melina on the Rooftop! A beautiful view and champagne on arrival for our anniversary. <br/>The waiters and waitresses went above and beyond

What a hidden gem. I have always been curious to dine here, luckily enough, tonight was the night! Being Valentine’s Day, Melina’s had a $140 banquet which had a range of delicious entrees, main and dessert. Everything we had was amazing, ingredients were fresh, portions were large and all dishes were served hot. Tried Koupes for the first time and now I am hooked. To top this all off, our waitress was a delight! I can’t wait to return!
Stephanie
Have been here many times and will continue. <br/>A perfect place for an after work catch up or taking international visitors. <br/>The views are stunning (especially at sunset). <br/>Good idea to book for a Friday night. <br/>Coffees are great and the food is fresh and clean - the souvlaki skewer will melt in your mouth <br/>Service is attentive and friendly while not being overbearing. <br/>Everyone I have taken here has enjoyed it.
Flying Forward
Points for: Rooftop, pan fried haloumi<br/><br/>We went for the set lunch option, as this was easier for a large group. <br/>The pita bread was served hot and was light and fluffy. Perfect for the dips, or for the meat skewers.<br/>The dips were really tasty as well, especially the tarama which had a mild taste of roe.<br/>Couldn't help ordering a serve of haloumi - perfectly fried, crispy on the outside and salty melted cheese inside. KILLER! Such a good looking dish as well, served right in the pan.<br/>The chicken and lamb skewers were grilled nicely. The lamb was actually pretty lean but still tender. Didn't have strong lamby flavour either. <br/><br/>The restaurant had a real busy, buzzing atmosphere, being a rooftop bar and restaurant. It was a pretty warm day and actually pretty loud from everyone just talking. <br/><br/>Service was warm and friendly, and the restaurant is pretty accommodating for large bookings. Bit of a hidden gem!

Went for lunch with colleagues on a Friday afternoon. We had made prior reservation for 10 people but the seating allocated to us was not enough for 10. We could barely fit our plates on the table. Given the price of food, this place definitely needs better seating in terms of space. <br/>The view however made up for the cramped seating. Excellent city scape view and the foldable open roof was a bonus too.<br/>The waitress told us it would be easier on the kitchen if we ordered the banquet instead of ala carte. She never mentioned it the banquet was good or value for money or had variety. The only reason we should order it was to make it easier for the kitchen. Well, that’s not great marketing for the banquet.<br/>The food was ok, borderline good actually. The saganaki cheese was very tasty. The chicken mushroom not so much, a bit bland and chewy.<br/>Anyways quite an ok meal, wish we had a bit more space on the table. <br/>Not sure if we would be back again given there are so many other options around that area.
Zainab
Great one<br/>Nice experience<br/>Nice staff and friendly<br/>We had a free bottle of ouzo on the managers account<br/>Highly recommended<br/>Again, thanks for the great service
@thefoodiealgorithm
Had to pay a visit being a 'Melina' myself :) What captivated me about Melina on the Rooftop was the stunning view and layout of the venue. Would definitely consider booking this venue for a birthday or engagement party perhaps as the area has ample space. We ordered the signature dish which is the Chargrilled Octopus, and couldn't help but try their crumbed saganaki also. The octopus cooked to perfection and most importantly NOT CHEWY. Have come across some restaurants which serve up octopus cooked incorrectly but Melina on the Rooftop is not one of them. The saganaki flavoursome and not too salty. Definitely returning.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere. I came here with my friends for my birthday and we order a bunch of entrees and small dishes to share, definitely was not disappointed!

Located on the 13th floor of the Greek Centre, with ample street and multi-story paid parking available on Lonsdale Street. <br/><br/>Casual fine dining perfect for a family get together. Perfect place to chill for a pre or post theatre show or for visitors from overseas to show off the Melbourne city skyline.<br/><br/>Best matched with their tasty spread of Greek cuisine and friendly and accommodating staff. Portions were great for sharing although we had to add more pita bread for the dips.<br/><br/>An all round great experience. <br/><br/>🌟🌟🌟✨Trio of Dip<br/>🌟🌟🌟🌟Antipasto<br/>🌟🌟🌟🌟Bruschetta <br/>🌟🌟🌟✨Grilled Fish<br/>🌟🌟🌟🌟Grilled Haloumi<br/>🌟🌟🌟🌟Grilled Octopus<br/>🌟🌟🌟🌟Greek Salad<br/>🌟🌟🌟🌟Tsantali Rapsani Red<br/>🌟🌟🌟✨Baby Doll Sauvignon Blanc <br/><br/>🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟The views‼️<br/><br/><br/>

Fantastic little establishment with nice views of the CBD, and better food - the meat was nice and tender! Service was great, will be back again!

The food was terrible and dry and had absolutely no flavour, and i was told that the food was made a day before... I do not recommend this place to anyone other than idiots who want to eat this food>>> if you can even call it food...

LIT!: very romantic and beautiful rooftop. we ordered the BBQ pork ribs, baby calamari and lemon tart. Both mains were succulent and flavourful. I especially like the lemon tart as it is so zesty. <br/><br/>NOT SO LIT!: I'm pretty sure the BBQ pork ribs are in fact pork belly :/ oh well, it was tasty. I wasn't a fan of the flourless chocolate cake. <br/><br/>Thanks for having us! X

Food is delicious and the view is amazing. Super romantic and well worth the price given the ambience you get. It's a little bit hard to find, enter on Lonsdale side next to the burger place on the corner. Don't forget to save some space for the lemon tart which was wonderful.

Great food, friendly staff, music quiet enough that I don't have to yell at people. This place isn't cheap. Clean bathrooms. Waiter actually surprised me when I said "surprise me" instead of giving a lecture on the possibility of me not approving of his choice. Food was good for sharing. Great view for taking group photos.

Firstly we were greeted kindly by staff who showed us to our table which had an excellent view of the CBD. We had a booking at the theatre in an hour so we asked if it were possible to eat and be out in time. They were so accommodating and helpful. They gave us recommendations and had the food on our table quickly. Overall the view was great, the service was excellent and the meals, all of them, were delicious. I would recommend this place to my friends.

My wife and I ate at Melina before a live performance on a lower level at the Greek Centre and were not disappointed! The stunning rooftop views are without question a standout feature of Melina.<br/><br/>It's not often you find a cosy restaurant on the roof in the heart of Melbourne's inner CBD, it's the sort of place you can dine in style with friends or family, discuss business in impressive surrounds or bring a loved one on a special date! It really is a superb setting suited to many scenarios/occasions. <br/><br/>Onto the food, I found the mezedes (Hellenic share plates) we had were superb both in presentation and flavour. Authentic Hellenic flavours, well seasoned with fresh ingredients, nice presentation and of ample size.<br/><br/>We dined on two souvlaki skewers (chicken and lamb) with plenty of pita bread, a Cretan salad and a delicious serving of crumbed calamari that literally melted in the mouth. All items were flawless with solid and attentive service from a polite (and I assume French, based on accent) waiter.<br/><br/>Pricing is mid-to-higher-end, expect to pay $40-50 a head (not including drinks) for 3-4 share plates but keep in mind you're getting a phenomenal setting, so if you consider this of value (which I certainly did), the pricing is more than reasonable.<br/><br/>All in all a superb lead in meal to what was ultimately a wonderful night at the Greek Centre!<br/><br/>Highly recommended for great Hellenic food and also sensational city views.

I have dined here twice and on both occasions really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and views. I have tried the dip platter, calamari, chorizo and haloumi, lamb skewer and beetroot salad and enjoyed them all, with the lamb skewer being the favourite. Looking forward to returning!

Whilst the food was satisfactory the service was not! When making the booking I advised that it was my mothers 70th birthday dinner and I was after a table with a nice view and I called a few days before the reservation to confirm. Upon arrival the restaurant was empty at 5.30pm and we were directed to a table outside with a plastic cover with bar stools. I expressed that my 70 year old mother wouldn't be able to sit on a bar stool and after insisting we be moved to a dining table we were placed on another table outside the main dining area. When asked for a table inside the main area we were advised that it wasn't possible as it was a company who booked all the tables inside. For a work function, moral sure is low! The patrons on all the inside tables obviously didn't know each other as no one to spoke to anyone else on another table. I hate liars! Your service is appalling and I will not be back! If you wish to dine in future maybe change your booking name to Dimitri or Effie and you'll get a proper dining table not a barstool.

The food was amazing! Quality and quantity of the serves well exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend having lunch at this place. Amazing view, great staff, food came out quickly and there was no unnecessary waiting. The staff was informative, attentive and offered great options throughout the dining experience.

Second time here and love it. Food is amazing. Meat is so tender and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend. Great views and service. We will be back..

I was taken here by a couple of Greek friends and we sat on the outside terrace suspended high above the beautiful Melbourne city centre. There night was dark and the sparkling city lights made it a magical place to dine. The night breeze was kept out by the layers of plastic and sliding screens. It felt like we were in a traditional taverna on the inside but the view reminded us we were definitely in the city.

Absolutely easily the BEST Greek food out of Greece. The shiftalies were perfect, calamari was to die for. We actually cancelled 3 dishes because we were so full with the entrees and nibblies. I couldn't fault anu dish.<br/><br/>Great location, cheap parking next door and amazing view. <br/>Lovely owner - thankyou!
Jac
Lovely restaurant/bar overlooking the CBD and accompanied by delicious food what more could you ask for! Ordered a range of meat and seafood dishes including BBQ ribs which were moist and had the charcoal cooked aroma. Baby calamari being really tender with a crispy thin batter unlike some others which had the thick coating of batter. The octopus also tasted great and did not have the rubber like consistency that it tends to have when cooked wrongly. Antipasto plate with a selection of meats and cheeses was also a great way to finish and paired with wine...even better! <br/>Thoroughly enjoyed dining here and special mention to the waiting staff who were really friendly and attentative and will be back soon again!

Nice relaxed environment, manages to pull off a cool and welcoming ambience that is difficult to achieve. Very European in its feel. Ordered coffee and cake for a party of 3, loved the baclava and of course the view. Will come back to sample the menu further. Staff deserve special mention, attentive and courteous.

Delicious Greek with heaps of flavour! Went here with a group of friends for dinner and drinks. Ordered a mix of dishes to share as recommended by our waiter, highlight was the haloumi and BBQ pork ribs. Great ambiance and super friendly staff. Will definitely be back again!
Liz
Nice and chill environment - the place was packed the night I went for an after party but the staff were really friendly and patient with bringing all the food to us even though it was so squeezy.

The mrs and I had dinner with some friends and it was fantastic. The food was fresh and delicious and the service was also great. The views are great although it can be quite hard to see anything depending on where you sit. Became a bit hard to move around towards the end of our service because of the incoming crowd. We shared 3 of the dishes between 2 and it was very filling. Good cocktails too.

Stumbled across this when touring Melbourne CBD. Great food, great service, great view, great value! What more can you want?! Highly recommend.

Rooftop bar corner Lonsdale & Russell Streets. Outdoor area gets some sun in the afternoon - good in summer! Wines are good and coffee is good - was a little cold sitting inside last time I was there as it was raining and the glass walls didn't come to the floor, there was a slight gap. Have heard they're recently renovated though so will be back to check it out & will update :)

Great good, great spot, great cocktails, we went for the banquet which was so much food! Looking forward to summer nights enjoy good food and beautiful views of the city! Definitely give it a try!
Christina
Authentic greek cuisine on top of the world.. ok maybe on top of Lonsdale street. Take the lift to the rooftop. Not only are the views amazing the drinks are even better!! Tried the saganaki and octopus. There is a god.

Met a friend here for Friday night drinks after work. Seems like everyone had the same idea! They were full but kindly managed to get us a seat at the bar which is actually the best seat in the house. The bartenders really know their stuff and I loved their Greek twist on some of the classics. Who knew an espresso martini could taste so good with Greek brandy. Had some delicious, tender octopus and there is an amazing view. It's so nice to find somewhere with killer drinks and none of the bartender attitude you can sometimes get. I'll be back. Thank you!

Great rooftop bar with a fantastic atmosphere and stunning views of Melbourne. Beautiful place for some quite after work drinks or even some food (which I haven't tasted yet). The bar staff were very friendly and made our night extremely enjoyable. Highly recommended and I will definitely be back.

What an amazing space- views of the entire city- amazing cocktails, gr8 tapas style dishes- standout was the octopus. Gr8 date destination or just for after work drinks- can't wait till summer, I think this place will rock 🍻🎉🎶😜🍸

Octopus! It's delicious! Bartender is great, very chatty and social, reminds me of being back in London. The food was unreal, hearty, unassuming and so flavoursome.. This was for dinner and drinks on a sunday night.. Definitely coming back, and best view in town!!! Love melbourne!!

Lovely view! Came here for breakfast on the recommendation of a friend and we were not disappointed. You step out of the lift onto a patio that could have been transported from a Greek island, and are greeted by a comprehensive menu of breakfast options. The back outside area has the best seats in the house with a great view down Lonsdale street and with a bright sun shining out of clear skies accompanied by the smells of grilling haloumi and lamb wafting out of the kitchen on a light breeze we could have been on a balcony in Santorini. The food was great though nothing super special. Definitely on the return list, mainly for the view!

Overrated place. Food, service and atmosphere is below average. We got there around 5pm on a Saturday and ordered a couple of drinks. It took them over 25 mins to bring out our two drinks considering there were only a handful of other customers at the bar. Cabbage roll we ordered was dry and lacked flavor.

Not overly impressed with this place but not bitterly disappointed either.  I'll get the disappointments out of the way first: it can be cold outside if wind is blowing and you're not directly under a patio heater; you need to use the torch on your phone to read the menu, small amount of food on large plates/boards that don't fit on the table when you order multiple items; a little pricey for the amount of food.  Now the good: food was full of flavour, well cooked and delicious; wait staff were helpful, good atmosphere and city views.  Small and busy restaurant so make a reservation.  Overall a good night.

Superb!!<br/>One of the most amazing places I have dined at for long time.<br/>Amazing panoramic views of the city of Melbourne.<br/>Fantastic service and great Mediterranean tapas. Cheese cigars and prawn saganaki highly recommended from a reasonably priced menu.<br/><br/>I'll definitely be back.<br/>
Anna
WOW!! What can I say..... The food was amazing! Portions are reasonably priced in comparison to other Greek restaurants I've been to. The staff made me feel like family and they knew what to recommend for my daughter who is a fussy eater. Definitely want to go again at night to see the night view. Congratulations to all the staff. Definitely coming back.

We were looking forward to trying Melina, and were sadly disappointed. Considering the prices, portion sizes were far too small - for example, we paid $18 for the pickled octopus, which turned out to be 3 small pieces of octopus in a tiny jar. As for the rest of the food, it was tasteless. There was no seasoning. We ordered the chicken and lamb skewers and the chicken was dry. Needless to say, we left still feeling hungry. For a new restaurant, customer feedback should be acknowledged rather than dismissed. The view was the only positive thing from the night, but even that didn't make up for the average quality of the food.
