Review Father's Office - Melbourne

Angel Khong
Father’s Office was a bar/restaurant great for after work drinks (or just drinks in general!); great cocktail selections, spacious modern-ish venue, and central location. It was difficult to have a nice sit down dinner however, as it was way too loud and dark despite being in the restaurant area. The food was mainly those of typical of bar type dishes, and were pretty decent.

Beautiful place, excellent vibe. Staff were amazing. Good: Canadian club and ginger ale served in jug, loved it. Nice music. Good was excellent especially the Sliders and Spicy popcorn chicken Bad: The Buffalo wings, Kansas City it was too saucy and I didn't like it. Maybe not at night, but during lunch I think it is safe to come with kids. I would definitely bring my kids for lunch especially to try the sliders.

Loved this place! In my short Melbourne stay they were like family. So incredibly friendly we ended up having a ball together. Just ask for the Alex cocktail! Definitely a must stop by on any stay rain hail or shine.

Good experience! I had beer course with the bartender and the beer was great. The waitress was amazing, friendly, warm & funny. You will definitely see us again.

Great venue, with lovely staff, we ordered 3 x Gluten Free meals & the staff were very knowledgeable, even advising us there would be a small delay as they were changing out the oil for my sons Parmi to ensure no cross-contamination. Highly recommend!

Was craving for chicken wings, and this restaurant popped in my UberEats. I ordered the Famous New York Buffalo Chicken Wings (24 pieces) & the Secret Seasoned Fries (medium size). I expected the wings to be a bit more spicer, but they turned out mild and messy. The fries were a bit soggy and oily. So if you are after NY Buffalo Wings, this is not the place. and they have funny timing as well, so if you want to visit/order online, you need to keep in mind that they are open only from Thu to Sun and close the rest of the week. Probably not the best place to order food from.

I am an Ubereat food deliverer. She (staff, manager) is very friendly and how to say. She brought a glass of water for me for free.

Came here last week and forgot to leave a review. Had a great waiter today, sadly I didn't get his name but he was friendly and gave recommendations for drinks. I got a steak with green beans for dinner, which was perfectly cooked and well presented. Good place for dinner and drinks with friends

Very cool... Great atmosphere and the menu was awesome. Cool “dude food” type dishes taken to to the next level.

5 stars for doing everything right! Despite having so many options in the city, this unexpectedly ended up being high up on the list. The staff were very courteous, and accommodated large groups. Also saw some good deals going on. Will return to try food.

I ordered the taster platter and the nachos.
The platter was served cold, which is a shame because it may have tasted a lot better. Sadly a cold plate was lacking.
The buffalo wings were too sweet and not really "buffalo" like.
Nachos were pretty good.

A little expensive affair but really good ambience and vibe. I enjoyed the outdoor seating with a balcony. The crowd is usually young and the food is good. Found the beer a little expensive compared to other places offering similar services. Hence, 4 stars!

Came here for some dessert after dinner elsewhere. It was a nice place to sit and relax and chat over some cake. The desserts were OK, not overly sweet.

Be very careful when you order the fish and chips, there were so many bones in mine.

The nacho is not a very balance dish, it's so rich and oily you can only eat one or two pieces of the nacho.

It's a big space so it is good for team lunch, but order ahead as they can be slow.
Gee
Always end up here for a drink on a Friday. It’s normally teaming with people and the queue for drinks can be slow. They used to do an all you can eat wings night - don’t know if that’s still happening?

Funky bar x restaurant in QV.

The entrance is beside San Churros in QV, leading to the venue on 2nd floor. The place is pretty big, with dance floor and bar on one side and tables on the other. Staffs were friendly though food took some time. The music was tad bit loud though for some chats.

Had their cocktail which was enjoyable, just tad bit small.

Zucchini and macadamia vegan burger though was soo good, the flavors were just on point, love the patty and bun. Fries were thick and nicely fried. Definitely recommended.

Had some of my friend's sweet potato fries and they were quite good too.

Overall a great place for bar style eats, with a dance floor too!

( follow for more!✨)

xx,joelle.

We ordered 4 vegan menus.
Lentil&pumpkin burger, zucchini&macadamia, quinoa &roasted pumpkin salad and cauliflower fries.
Most of them were okay.
Just... okay
I like salad because it was based on rice.
Cauliflower fries were okay. Taste like fried cauliflower.
Burgers were bit too dry.
Oh! Vegan aioli was great.
However, I will Never come back again
#vegan#burgers#melbourne

First, amazing prompt customer service. The lady who looked after me was absolutely wonderful and put up with some inane questions I had about the menu.

I decided on the Beef Pie for dinner and holy hell it was perfect. The mash was deliciously light and fluffy and the pie itself was perfect. Really appreciated the fact that the red wine ju was served separately as I decided to not have it this time around. It was so delicious and filling.

I'm already planning to head back tomorrow for lunch.
Littlefoodiekiki
Great lunch for $15 plus any drink for your choice even including alchohol!!!!
Was thinking, what could u get for $15 but to my amaze the lunch was a pretty good decent size. The food was like Pub food to me and the ambiance was nice and bright. Loved the sofa booth's cause we could talk and have fun without eyes watching.
The service was good and friendly.
Definitely a place to go again, especially for their $15 lunch deal.

My friend ordered chicken wings which were good, burrito was really good. fried chicken was really dry and tasteless. mac n cheese was good. the cocktail pitcher seemed super diluted. We had an entertainment voucher which we tried to use and were told that we can use it only for dinner. it doesn't say that anywhere on the voucher. we have been getting the entertainment book for 4 years now, and have literally never been told no. Once, la porchetta had some issue with takeaway, they still let us use that one time, and since then, we always sat in and ate in La porchetta without the expectation of allowing to use the coupon for takeaway. If you don't care to give a discount, you should stop promoting the place with vouchers. Thanks.

Came here on a Saturday night between 6:30-8:30. Great atmosphere and service. Good happy hour drink deals. Ordered the sharing platter for $30, which I’d recommend for 2 hungry people or 3-4 sharers. Arancini and spring rolls were good, the rest was VERY salty, but still nice. Good value.
Annie Lu
Gluten free lunch and it comes w a drink either alcoholic or non alcoholic! The chips with herbs and spices are yummy. Monday to Wednesday, lunch set 15 bucks w a drink, so worth it. Will definitely visit again.
Tom Seaby
Very annoyingly they do not accept the entertainment coupon when you go there for lunch and get $1 off your drink because it "comes with the meal deal". Dont care for deception. Other places take the coupons even during happy hour.
Connie
Had a few drinks here the other night- quite a good location and also price for the cocktails- especially during happy hour.

frozen pina colada was only $12 and it was quite strong too.

Oh my God. The best parma i’ve ever had. Perfect blend. The salad was refreshing. The staff was very friendly and organized. Beautiful place with a lot of upbeat vibe.

One of our favourites but may need to give restaurant a little spruce sometime soon. Great menus and location. Wonderful spot to bring visitors and friends from all over. 😋
Angel Khong
Father’s Office was great for after work drinks (or just drinks in general!); great cocktail selections, spacious modern-ish venue, and central location. For dinner, however, it was way too loud and dark despite having a dedicated sit down area. They did bar-type dishes like burgers and parmas well, but not so much the seafoods and salads.
Minnie Chia
Hospitality is 10/10 here at Father's Office - friendly is an understatement. The manager and his team were very attentive, always checking back if we had further requests. Ordered the humongous 350g Scotch Fillet, cooked perfectly and value for money at $30. The other main, fisherman's basket was a tad too oily but it didn't matter because the service from the staff was super. Special mention to Wayne who had excellent knowledge of beer, and after listening to our preferences, recommended the Lagunitas IPA Beer, which was spot-on.
Vivian
3.5
We came here for dinner tonight and enjoyed the food
We ordered the steak with garlic butter - I ordered medium rare but it was more medium
The eye fillets across the table was cooked perfectly tho
I loved the Parma here tho, lots of flavour and cheese - the chips are also seasoned really nice
Thebrunchgirls
Highly rate the $20 lunch menu! The range of food is really good so suits a large group! $20 gets you one main & one drink, really good value in the cbd! The interior is pretty old school & the staff are slightly run off their feet but albeit friendly! The food comes out quickly so suitable for a work lunch!

Very nice place to go for a catch up with friend on the weekend.
Spacious bar and they have the outdoor seatinfg that overlook melbourne central, state library.
definetely would be my hang out spot on the weekend
Alex Gardner
Ambient venue. Staff are super friendly. Bathrooms are nice and clean. Decent cocktail list except espresso martini’s are on tap. Food is pretty average though- southern fried chicken is a bit bland, fisherman’s basket wasn’t greasy but was a bit flavourless. Popcorn chicken had a bit too much salt. All-round a cute stop in the night.

Came during weekday after work it was packed with customers. I came on my own got informed by the staff there's no table for me to dine at the dinning area (when there were many empty tables) and was directed to look for an empty table at the bar section. I wasn't happy with the service and when i got served my food i was even more disappointed, food was over cooked/ too dry and very bland.

Fathers office is great to go for cheap drinks. They have a great happy hour but it is usually packed on a Friday and Saturday, so try and get there before 5pm if it’s sunny. A younger crowd but it does vary. They also have food deals on specific days, just good food but it’s so cheap it doesn’t matter.
Mr NomNom
Father's Office is great. Overall this place has quite a few things going for it:
- Extensive bar menu
- Moderately priced
- Central location
- An extensive drinks menu with a fair bit of happy hour time

If you're looking for both a bite and a drink in the city and not sure where, Father's Office is a bloody good choice.

Attached is the crumbed lamb from my last visit (might have been a while ago now though). Overall it was a pretty yum meal, that filled me up and the happy hour drinks were great too.

3.5. It was going off here on a Friday night. As it should, of course, at the end of a long hard working week in Melbourne. It’s a nice spot here up the north end of town and easily accessed off little Lonsdale Street. It’s a good spacious and attractive place. I like the speakeasy theme and associated features throughout. It’s interesting and fun. There’s a lovely view from here out the back over the State library forecourt. You know, the one with the elegant grassed and terraced areas and a few nice eucalypts. Such great areas of the city on the right day. This is basically a very good bar. Any place that has the magnificent Laphroaig quarter cask has a very good range of alcohol. On the other hand, a few of the servers might benefit from a stint at charm school. But, it’s a good bar overall. It does what it does pretty well.
Dam Burger
Nice location overlooking trees from library next door. Friendly helpful staff. Very average food, I had reg Parma which was a very poor thin schnitzel with basically no chicken, my friend had cheese burger which he said was very average. I’d come back for a drink but not for the food.
LifeForFood
Good place for after hours catch-up. Good food and good service. Friday’s are busy and expected noisey, so plan accordingly. Location is right at city centre and closer to public transport.
Sirisha Vijayakumar
A totally chilled place to go and have a few drinks and chill with your friends. They have amazing happy hours and good food as well. Music was good and the staff are good too.

Great cocktails in a cool atmosphere! We tried the cosmos and margaritas and both were extremely tasty and very strong. The drink service was lightning fast!

On a Friday night this place is nothing but booming out of its seams. Given how busy it was had a great vibe and good customer service offered

3.5 stars
A vibrant place located in the heart of Melbourne City. I was here for a staff dinner and the place was bustling with life. (do not head here if you need some quiet :D)
The food was good, not outstanding. I had ordered the kimchi burger which came with fries. I loved the fries more than the burger. They were crispy and not too salty just perfect.
A must visit for the view of the bustling city, father's office is a great bar to go to at nights. I've also had their special $15 lunches (I had the fried burrito). Only wish it was fresh. They can definitely improve in the freshness of their food items.

The best nachos ever!! The chilli mince is delicious and full of flavour. I constantly crave these!! The polenta cubes are amazing...and the chicken wings are pretty good too. Food is always a stand out and reliable. Service good. Did I mention the chilli nachos??!! Best!
Lizzie Eats Melbourne
😱Lizzie’s first impression: A great bar with a good crowd no matter what time of day!

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: the tasting platter is delicious - the pork belly and calamari is worth noting. The chicken wings are amazing and I would go back just for it.

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: the bar may take a while to get to you when it’s busy so make sure you come in earlier on a Friday or Saturday night.

🥇Lizzie rates overall: great place for a beer or a drink with friends. The meals are also very delicious so would also recommend eating by the menu.
Loveeatingfood
place is pretty nice and fancy! good atmosphere, however slightly dark for dinner. the service was what stood out the most, the waiters would come by and ask and made sure we were happy with everything. the little pots with sour cream was very cute. overall the food was good.
THE PARMA COUPLE
amazing service and atmosphere - they absolutely stand out compared to other restaurants 💅 very enjoyable overall and extremely happy 👍 the parmas were $18 and although didn't have ham (this review would've been 5 stars if the parma had ham!) it was still tasty 😁 the chips were great too - i love that they were seasoned 😋 i also loved the little jars of sauce for the chips that came with our meal and i've never seen that before 😊 not great that the parma was on top of the chips but overall i will be back 😀😀😀😀😀😀

I need to start off by saying this place had great service! We had several non food requests for the waitress and she happily and attentively attended to them.
Now to the food. We ordered the buffalo wings which were tasty, the Miami jerk chicken salad which was cooked very well, chilli nachos which were great and the arancini balls which didn’t come out as hot as what I expected but still decent.
The one thing I will fault with this place is the noise level. I realise there is a bar segment however the noise is extremely loud and it feels like you’re having dinner in the middle of a loud bar. My wife and I had to shout at each other the entire time to try and understand what were saying.

Nice dining. Went there with some pals.
The restaurant is pretty and stylish, located at the corner of Q.V.. The entrance of the restaurant if facing the State Library, the dining area is on the second floor.
My dish tastes quite goof.
The vegetables on the steak is amazingly good, since it’s not the main character. The steak is juicy and thick.
The almonds on the top adds a little bit of crunchy taste.
Going to try out the chicken wings in the future. ;)
The.Top.Lifestylee
Really good drinks in happy hour. Also good time for happy hour. Really nice snack foods and a large variety of cocktails. Would recommend for a nice chilled night out or pre drinks as it has a nice sit down vibe. Cheap shots in happy hour and nice staff.
The Casual Diner
First time here with a bunch of colleagues from work, and the space was fabulous and inviting. Service was prompt and friendly. I had the $20 lunch and had the rump steak (which unfortunately was a little over cooked), that came with a drink also. Great place for a lunch gathering and good value for money.
The Food Book
Came here in the afternoon and space was nice and open. Had an order of the wings and would say they were standard. Would like to return for their wings deal though.
Beans
Friendly staff, good atmosphere. Food was great and moderately priced, lots to choose from. Make bookings beforehand though as it is almost always packed.
@foodtom
Father’s office has a nice atmosphere, a nice outdoor seating for the smokers and a great view of melbourne central.
The cocktails are really good, they have happy hour that does not break the bank which is cool. Overall the alcohols have a great deal and great serving. Spectacular.
The chicken salad I had was a great portion, good flavour and the chicken itself was juicy!
The waiters are very nice, I will be coming back.
Would like to give minus stars if that was possible! Have visited Father’s Office a couple of times and although never been blown away it’s always lived up to expectations (good cheap happy hour over the weekend and a great central location). Always had fine service until last night. Myself and a group of friends came for a few drinks for my friends birthday. We were sat outside in the clearly marked eating area (non-smoking) the outside smoking area was kept seperate as according to the law. Later in the evening myself and the birthday girl decided to order some bar snacks whilst the outside area was still being used for eating, when we ordered food we were asked where we were sitting and it was confirmed that we were in the outside area. A waitress then came out to us when our food was ready only to say we could no longer eat outside and had to move inside therefore forcing myself and some of the party to separate and sit inside apart from the rest of the group. I asked our waitress why we hadn’t been told we wouldn’t be able to eat outside as we wouldn’t have ordered food if that was the case and was told “I just run the food what do you want me to do about it?” She said she would get her manager but never did. I then spoke to the manager myself who also offered little other than blaming the bar staff and also said we could all move inside if we liked yet we were more than happy with our tables outside and preferred the atmosphere out there in comparison to the more formal dining area or very loud inside drinks area where everyone was now dancing etc. He seemed confused with the situation and did not know how to deal with it, not great after the appalling customer service from our waitress. Overall the situation with the food was slightly frustrating but the way it was dealt with by more than one member of staff, inc the manager, is the reason I will not be returning to Father’s Office and will also warn others from going there. Very disappointing.
Delicious, affordable and quick drinks fix if you’re in the city! A great place for pre drinks before a night out too :) highly recommended!
Nicole Windley
I loved my visit to fathers office! It’s been awhile since I’ve had pub battered fish and chips, and the GF fish and chips did not disappoint!
Would have loved staff to be a bit more attentive, we had to approach them after trying to wave them done and then they asked where we were seated - we were one of three tables with patrons on it and were right in front of the bar.
The $20 lunch menu was great value. Menus on Zomato are out of date, as the fried chicken wasn’t GF and I was really looking forward to it. Can’t wait to come here again
Elizabeth Duong
Gluten and dairy free surf and turf. Great vibes, would have loved to come here with a bigger group and had a few drinks too. Perhaps I would try a different dish next time because mine was very average for the steep price that I paid for it. However, I'm willing to give this place another go because it's such a cool space and they even have their own gluten free menu!

Stay tuned for visit #2!

The office is one of my favourites for a post work beer, mainly because $15 jugs are just too good to pass up. Good atmosphere, food & staff...one to add to your list if you work in the CBD.
Parma Daze
Father's Office has been around for a while, and I had always heard pretty good things about it - However they never had a parma available until recently, when they announced a full range of "signature parmas" were being added to their menu. . Snuggled within the maze that is the QV complex in the CBD, Father's Office is a pretty cool escape from the madness of the Melbourne city.
Susan Chin
Love the happy hour specials, you can't go past $12 jugs of Improved Cosmo. They do a really good cheeseburger and the smoky BBQ wings are sensational. Great spot post work for a cocktail and a bite.
Affogato Addiction
Good happy hour specials $15 jugs of beer or cider, and $1 wings or $2 arancini. Ok quality, reasonably quick service.
This place gets packed quickly on a Friday night and it is very loud.
Vy Nguyen
Had a wonderful experience at Fathers Office the other day! The mash potato in our lamb cutlets dish was divine, and the sweet pineapples in the salad were a perfect paring for the grilled halloumi. The buffalo wings were decent but not the best I’ve had. Still giving this place 5 stars for excellent customer service and an awesome playlist.
Moieats
Had company lunch here last week. It was a huge group of 40 people. Set lunch was pre-ordered. We were seated at a nice cosy spot. There were only 2 waiters serving us drinks and food which made the service pretty slow. My colleague ordered steak and her mushroom sauce came only 15 minutes later. I ordered the calamari. Calamari was tender, fresh and juicy. Overall they were generous with the portions.
A very accessible eatery as it is located next to the State Library. Will come back because it is convenient. Suitable for after work drinks with great atmosphere for people around the vicinity.
Feast Meets West
Came here on a Friday night for dinner and drinks. Service was sub-par. Staff always looked frantic and ran off after giving you your food or drinks order usually while you were mid-question. This was frustrating when it was hard enough to get their attention when they WERE around. It wasn’t even busy yet. They didn’t really know the table layout well cos the waiters kept bringing over drinks we didn’t order. Both me and my friend ordered the Lychee Martini but she got hers about 20 mins later. I ordered the Surf n Turf. Was lacking the seafood element with only 2 prawns. Bernaise sauce was okay but needed more of it. Overall decent meal but was an average experience.

Father's Office just opposite Melbourne Central, close to the state library and inside-ish of QV was a delightful find.

We had a group event here on a Sunday evening and had booked the balcony area looking out onto the street.

Sundays mean drink and food specials and we were treated to a delightful spread of freshly fried onion rings (heart-healthy as can be as they were not oily), lightly battered calamari bursting with flavour and not requiring any tartare sauce, sweet chilli succulent chicken wings, mushrooms topped with pine nuts and feta (my favourite), large arancini balls with a tomatoey risotto rice filling and omg some fatty tasting pork belly.

Very reasonably priced. Quick service and beautifully outfitted.

Father's office provides great atmosphere, drinks and location and is always a safe choice. Can;t say much for their food however as I haven't had the chance to try any but their drinks are pretty good and make sure to take advantage of their happy hour. Great ambiance, though be warned as it can get rather packed. The view from the outdoor seating area was stunning and we could even see the NYE fireworks from there!
Madeline Agnes
Can get really crowded during peak after work hours but it's conveniently positioned near melb central station and has a lovely view of state library and swnaston street. Their chicken wings are to die for here! Overall, fun atmosphere with a hint of classy.

I really enjoyed our experience today. The decor is pretty cool - I can imagine it would rock on a Friday night after work. We were offered the lunch menu -$20 which includes a drink. Wine, cider, beer or soft drink. I went with the kimchi burger, wanting something a bit spicy. It was really lovely. The only problem was the juices that flowed from the kimchi. I couldn't put the burger back on the plate as it would've gotten soggy (but it was really good kimchi - If they make it in-house props to them). Luckily it was delicious enough not to need to put it down. My hubby's wings were well cooked, I just found them a little too sweet for my liking. Miss declared her cheeseburger sliders to be delicious as well. Smaller version of my burger without the kimchi. All topped of with some delicious homemade sorbet and ice cream. Not the cheap stuff that is usually given with kids menus. I was really impressed. Will be going back😋
Rizka Natasya
Went here with my friend during the happy hour promo so the place is packed! Everyone seems to be enjoying the whole ambiance and the servers are nice. Didn't try anything from their food menu but will surely be back to do so.

Father's office is a sneaky winner in the barfood awards. They manage to do decent bar atmosphere, and very good quality food. Plus, how can you go. Past the all you can eat buffalo wings on Wednesdays.

My record was 40, fyi.
The Domestic Traveller
I was introduced to this place a couple of years back when it first opened and I was keen to check it out after it became more popular. After 2 years, I can definitely say – there have been fond memories over here. A quick catch up with the old crew, meant that I had to decide on the food before I got there. I settled on the Fried Chicken Burger. At $20 – I was a little stunned. The burger was good, but the chips weren’t all that flash.
Josephine
Came here for a friends birthday and let me start off by saying I felt like I was in a yelling contest. I had to constantly shout so the person next to me could hear me. How are you suppose to enjoy a meal with friends with the music blasting in the background.
Now for food, I had the barramundi and it was cooked perfectly. My partner had the steak and found it mediocre. The birthday girl got the chicken and waffles and found it average also. Think the food is a hit and miss plus the environment wasn't the best. Service was good though!
Prathan Kamalesh
Father's Office has been our go-to place since we moved to Melbourne. The food and the drinks are reasonably priced. The place has a good vibe on Saturday nights. Happy hour menu and Specials of the day are a great way to explore their options at a cheap price. The staff here are very amicable.
Miss_live_to_eat ✔️
Out of all the night hangouts I would recommend this the most. It has an amazing ambience, good menu, and an awesome vibe. The prices are nominal. Also it's very accessible. Would love to visit again.
Gaery
Good place to go to if you want the bar... Not so much as a restaurant.

Whilst I don't normally comment on staff, it was a bit shoddy for what should have been better for the price of the food; serving us, they seemed quite underprepared.

The food itself was about average- the Father's Office prides itself on its buffalo wings. Also, taking the American style and trying to infuse it within its burgers. However, while looking appealing the product of it is an oily mess.

There's at least a variety of options to choose from in their menu- not so much for vegans, unfortunately.

Probably the most solid thing here were the fries. But every burger joint- even franchised ones can at least making fries similar to these ones. .

Whilst nothing in particular stands out, it has a good location and I'm sure would be more appealing if you're looking for a bar-type scene at night. If you come during the day, you're more likely going to be better off giving this one a pass.
Aidan_j_f
Ordered the double chicken burger.. way way way too spicy!
Wasn’t as good as what I thought it would be.. menu described a nice sounding burger! Disappointed with the similarities between the spiced fried and the sliced “jalapeño coleslaw”. Heat overload: needs some cooling aspect
ManFromMelbourne
Food is ok, very American and you may need a few drinks in you beforehand - because then it hits the spot. Shouldn't be necessary however.

Staff are generally really great and very fast. Tap beer rotates which is nice.

They really do try to pack everyone in like sardines though. The vibe is good as a result but I tend to only enjoy cramped spaces at Asian restaurants where it feels more authentic than annoying.

Trying to be objective but I feel this place will wow some and annoy others.
Casualfoodie
Disappointing and not vegan friendly. I thought this place was good for having a vegan menu but as it turns out the option for the vegan menu is pretty poor. Firstly, there is a vegan menu which is great, however, as it turns out you can order the "vegan" option and it has dairy. The first time I came here, there was no mention of an extra charge to make the bun gluten free and vegan. This meant that I received the regular bun that had dairy in it without knowing. Why this is on the vegan menu in the first place is an absolute joke. Clearly fathers office management need to look up the definition of the term vegan. Next, the cost of the gluten free bun is an extra $2 or you can choose to have a lettuce bun. These options are fine in my opinion however, this burger shouldn't be on a vegan menu. The lettuce bun is free though, whoopdie Doo... I also don't think this whole experience would have bothered me as much if the first waiter we had service from hadn't been so obviously stressed out and wanting to take his passive aggressiveness out on innocent people. The general encounters with him were unpleasant but then after my friend ordered a second drink before happy hour ended she got a stern "you might want to slow down" talking down to. Not appreciated when it's your second drink and you say it quite so condescending. I have suggested this place to so many people to come to before and was happy there was vegan food but if you want a fun vibe and good food I would suggest not bothering. Note: the evening was redeemed by the lovely girl in black and the bleached hair, she was the only reason we didn't leave with a bad taste in our mouths. & ps always check the bill, we had an extra non-happy hour drink added to our bill that wasn't even ordered but was taken off once noticed. Thanks but no thanks.
Split The Bill
Great bar which looks onto Melbourne State library. Drinks are reasonably priced and service is fast. Another great little hide away my friend and I enjoyed our wine down catching up and watching the rain pour down outside.
Tardar Sauce
$15 lunch special - few options to choose from. I had the steak with peppercorn sauce, chips and salad with apple cider. Ok, not amazing. Meat was very chewy.
Skyemaree12
Great place for a Friday night drink. Great nibbles, popcorn chicken is delicious. Always have some sort of special on food. You can't go wrong when there's a deal on sparkling!
Mel
Surf n turf was amazing! Steak was cooked perfectly, seasoned lightly and super tender! The mix of pork belly, chorizo and prawns on the plate was a great combo and perfect for someone that wants a bit of everything. I asked for no sauce and you really didn't need any extra sauce because the produce was fantastic on its own.
Will be dining here again when I'm back in Melbourne.
The Gastronaut
I haven't tried their food, but they have good collection of alcohol there. Service is very friendly, and quick. The ambiance is really cool. They have open area too.

Cajun wings, Love love! Food is great in general. Seating available inside and on the balcony as well. Not a fan of the cocktail range. Good beer selection. Music is always good and lively. Prefer to go here when in a mood to dance for hours.

Perhaps not quite my scene. Father's Office is reasonably nice but nothing spectacular in my opinion, especially with the crowd on Friday nights. If you're out for some fun rather than a social catch up, perhaps this is a better option for you. I personally am not one who enjoys being in a cramped position with large masses of people. Staff however, are very efficient and friendly.

Used my scoopon voucher. And spent my birthday here. 50$ worth spending for 2. Parade of flavours! Every bite was delightful. Happy tastebuds. I like the interiors too.. 1920s feel. Definitely coming back

Posh, great ambiance for meet ups. Food and drinks come in wonderful varieties. Location is very accessible, right in the heart of the CBD so no one can miss it!

Have been for drinks many times and the vibe is always good. Came for dinner and was hugely disappointed. Had the honey beef burger and was not impressed at all. Lacked flavour, presentation wasn't visually appealing and waiters were overly attentive. Will be coming here for drinks only.

Great vibes, DJ and music was on point. The food is ok if you are after fast food or deep fried meal. Has happy hour almost every day which is great for after work drinks

Husband & I visit every year we come to Melbourne. Food is devine but the service is rushed. Our entree came with our mains (which was wrong), had to eat our mains while we waited for our entree, tables are far too small for so much food. Tables are very 'rocky', we nearly spilt our glasses of wine a number of times. Staff are friendly but I felt our experience was rushed as staff 'swooped' on our plates first chance they got! Didn't bother with dessert as our meal was so rushed we still had our bottle of wine to finish.
Good Food Good Mood
I bloody love this place. The cinnamon calamari really gets the party started but where it's really at is the desserts. Go the dessert box so you can have it all because what reasonable person could really be expected to chose between caramel Nutella pie and salted caramel popcorn panna cottta? You'll struggle to get a seat if you've dawdled on the way to after work drinks and the happy hour is in full swing so be mindful of that and get your skates on. The menu borrows heavily from Fitzroy Social and the space itself has similar kind of vibes in terms of cool decor but in more of a speakeasy way. Here you can get the best of America without having to set food in the dreaded land of Mr Trump

A cool place with interesting decorations. We booked a table on a Saturday night for dinner. Staff were friendly but not very attentive. It was a cold winter night and the dining area was freezing. Their heating system obviously needs an improvement. We ordered two mocktails and both were good. My husband was very satisfied with his chicken fried steak. Although my pulled beef taco platter looked interesting with the DIY idea, it tasted just average. The coleslaw side would be better with less salt. We will be back next time to try out their chicken wings.

I really like this bar and restaurant. It gets quite busy but has a cool vibe for Friday night drinks and the Food is really delicious. If you like American style food like slow cooked meats, sliders ect then check this place out. They have some good happy hour deals as well.

I've been here a few times and it delivers decent grub, their lunch specials from Monday to Wednesday are great for $15 combined with a drink. The venue is spacious and thankfully most of the time it isn't too busy as I've witnessed on occassion (I'm talking about a few years back) the kitchen getting swamped with orders from large group bookings. Last thing you want to do is wait an hour for food during your lunch break.
Their lunch menu has also trimmed down sticking mostly with burgers and 'bits n bobs'. Their double fried chicken burger was okay, wasn't that crunchy despite being double fried and under seasoned. The chips however tasted great with its seasoning. They still retain their horrid mini jars for dipping (Asian Beer Cafe have the same thing), please just replace these with saucers!
Their beef, apple and beetroot burger is satisfying, however they really should change the batter on their fish n chips, it retained too much oil and was sickening.
It's a great venue for after work drinks also, lovely indoor ambience as well as balcony views overlooking the state library.
Hungry Panda
The food here is absolutely delicious! I wasn't expecting too much looking at the menu and it's fairly typical American food, but was blown away after one bite. The chicken in the burger was perfectly crispy and juicy, and along with the chips were well seasoned - you didn't need to rely on the sauces for flavour as it tasted like they were marinated beforehand already.

I also really liked the atmosphere of the place, especially with its two walls made of floor length glass. The restaurant is separated on one half of the venue and is classy but also relaxed, making it the perfect place for dinner and drinks. The only downside were that the cocktails were quite small, although they were delicious.

Despite a change of plans to our night, I'm really glad we went here instead and will definitely be back!
Love At First Bite
Find us on instagram: loveatfirstbite_aus

Have been here several times for lunch and for drinks. A great lunch menu for a quick burger with a friend over lunch. The food also gets super cheap late at night so it's great for a midnight pit stop!
Must Be Hungry
An awesome venue in QV with even better food! Always a busy place for drinks of Friday and Saturday, we came on a much more chilled Monday night. The music was spot on so props to whoever does the playlist! Pictured is the Double Chicken Burger, Mac & Cheese, Fried Burrito and Philly Cheese Steak.

The chicken burger and Fried Burrito were amazing, however the cheesesteak and Mac & cheese quite the opposite. I definitely recommend the chicken burger, one of the best I've had in Melbourne!

I absolutely love what they done with the place. It's has that old school 50s 60s jive going for it. It felt a lot like your in the movie "The Great Gatsby". This wouldn't have come cheap or easy as the stuff members paid extreme attention to detail. Hats off to that part.

The service here was top-notch. The employees are very kind & caring towards everyone.

All the food here was well made. Very stylish and well decorated. What quite surprised me was the combinations they had made.

However this place is not completely flawless. The first problem I've experienced was the "Pan Seared Salmon" , the couscous being very dry, I think this was overlooked or not enough liquid was added because you'll definitely get the same results when your cooking either rice or couscous and you don't add enough liquid.

Another thing that I found annoying was trying to find this place. Like I think I walked passed this place I think about 5 times because all the GPS, whether your using Google Maps, Siri, Facebook, or even Uber etc; they all lead you to the wrong place. This really frustrated not only me but many people as well. I don't know why all mine GPS systems were leading me to the wrong address but I believe this should be investigated and dealt with very quickly.

All and all, it still is a very awesome place to visit there is a lot of stuff here to capture your eyes. Plus the view from the window is just breathtakingly good.

Everything at this place is rich and delicious.. full of flavor.. has the right crunch..
Tried their chicken burger, arancini balls and fries with special secret seasoning. Very pricey but worth the dollars.. this is one of the must trys in the city..

Great atmosphere and location. Friendly staff with great customer service.
Quality ingredients therefore great food. Event tastes fresh and flavoursome. Peanut butter cheesecake is amazing and the chips have a really nice spicy seasoning.
Looking forward to going back and trying other dishes.

Friendly staff but service was a little slow given place was only half full. Beef, Apple and Beetroot burger was nice and juicy. The patty was a bit thick which made it a little difficult to eat. Maybe consider wrapping it partially in foil so that people don't have to pick bits of burger off the table. Nicely cooked chips with tasty seasoning.

It can get a bit noisy and the red wine list is pretty basic. But, the spicy salmon salad is so moreish. Filled with crunchy peanuts, fried shallots and coriander. The pork ribs were popular and the bacon mac & cheese was pretty good.
Not sure about the previous reviews - we had full table service. Perhaps it depends if you sit at the bar or the dining area.

Always saw Fathers Office as a place where people come here for after work drinks, so never thought of coming here for food. It was when I got the Scoopon and came here for lunch that made me think how wrong I was. The food here is superb for the price (wife came here for their $20 lunch menu previously as well) and the service and environment is fantastic. I would definitely come back for their food. Paying full price. I had the chicken burger and apparently if half the size of the $20 menu; wife says you get two pieces of chicken and drink. Chips were awesome as well #winning

Used a scoopon. Very satisfying meal, the fries were the highlight of the meal. The entree were a mixture of calamari, apple sauced crispy pork belly, aracini tomato rice ball, polenta and buffalo wings. All were delicious, worth the scoopon value. Taking out 0.5 for their dessert ganache, a little sour side instead of sweet. I have a sweet tooth, so not to my likings.
