Fantastic atmosphere great drinks and very attentive staff. We love this place
What a crew, what a vibe. Always a pleasure. Make a mean vodka soda, make an even meaner lychee bubble tea. I especially love the shirts and those winning smiles
A small bar with dim light interior and situated on a busy street. The alcohol bubble tea is well made with a mix of flavour in the drink for the lychee drink. All bubble cup drinks are served in a cup and bubbletea straw.
The bar is the open window one btw. We bought the lychee and peach bubble tea cocktails. These are the bomb. With regards to the subtle asian trait, I want to say that these cocktails should be part of the bubble tea culture. Definitely come here for a chill hangout. Limited space but great vibes
I love the alcoholic bubble teas here. They are so delicious albeit a bit pricey. Double Happiness is a cosy bar with a quirky decor, fantastic ambience and super friendly staff. It was busy on a Friday evening for pre-dinner drinks.
A quirky melbourne bar North Korean themed. Great vibe and mood to sit down for a cocktail. Good menu with some well delivered cocktails. Presentation a stand out
Great place, a little overpriced, but the drinks taste amazing here, especially the bubble tea selection. There is something for everyone and the place the decorated in a traditional yet modern Asian theme. Good vibes!
I had bookmarked this bar a while ago and was wrapped when it turned out to be next door of a restaurant we wanted to go to. The restaurant had a wait of 1 hour and 45 mins so it was a no brainer to have some bevies here while we waited. The bar is very funky with posters and nick nacks around, the staff were friendly with a positive vibe. The cocktail list was very different, unlike any of really seen before. Our cocktails were nice for the most part, 1 of them was hard to stomach and I had to force it down. Despite the cocktail list not really screaming out to me, I have to say the whole experience was great and I recommend a visit here.
Points for: alcoholic bubble tea
Dine Time: Friday after work
Double Happiness has been around for over a decade, and it's one of the original "Asian" themed bars, alongside its sister bar New Gold Mountain just next door.
You'll find DH just next to the trendy new eateries, so a quick drink is ideal here.
Space is a little limited, but you'll generally be able to find an area for 3-4 easily.
Anymore, you might just have to make-do standing around somewhere.
The bubble teas all include the fruity popping bobas, which goes well with some of the fruitier drinks like lychee and peach. I feel the chai tea could do with the traditional black chewy tapioca pearls. All the bubble teas are a little sweet and could do with a bit more of an alcohol hit, but maybe that's just me. Generally, they're very easy to drink and probably the only place in Melb doing alcoholic bubble tea!
Service is friendly, and they will generally recommend something if you are a bit lost. They're also very accommodating and will do their best to seat you.
Almost a secretive spot off in Liverpool St perfect for afterwork drink - they don't actually have the sign 'double happiness' so find the place with the Chinese characters door. I love the oriental-decor touches and the friendly staff here. Super relaxed vibes. I sat next to the fire so I felt extra cozy against the crappy Melbourne weather outside!
I ordered the Lychee Bubble Tea ($15) that had plum wine, lychee, peppermint, lime and cloudy apple. It came with popping bobbas. Yeeeess. An alcoholic beverage that speaks to my inner child? Yesss. The popping bobba is peppermint; and while I don't personally really like peppermint, the combination of flavours still works pretty well for me.
My friend got the Peach Bubble Tea which had black tea and bourbon. Slightly too strong for me but definitely go for it if you love your alcohol! I'll stick to my almost-child-friebdly lychee bubble tea!
I've been coming to this little bar for many years now. This place is always fun.
This hole in the wall is small but I like it that way. The staff and punters are always friendly and the drinks, mainly cocktails are fantastic, absolutely amazing!! Yummmmyyy haha
We had a lychee inspired cocktail before dinner and wow, let's just say that everything was sooo much better after that. Haha
Located in a lane adjacent to one of Melbourne busiest streets, this place was a pleasant surprise on our night out. It's a small bar with a Chinese retro feel to it that provides a menu full of unique cocktails and bubble teas. I tested The Little Red book cocktail and my partner thoroughly enjoyed their espresso martini. With the overall chilled out vibe of this place it is perfect for a catch up with mates or even after work drinks. Will definitely be back to indulge in more of their exotic cocktails!
A cheerful place along with the new mountain bar residing next to each other .
Bar tenders are very experienced and more pan Asian inspired menu for drinks. No food, so if you are a snacky kind of person while drinking like me, be warned :). Certainly worth the try
Awesome cocktail bar! Super friendly and helpful staff! The staff and the venue itself made for an awesome experience! Definitely can recommend!
In love with this place! Their bubble tea cocktails are so yum, the vibe is super chill and the bartenders are friendly and attentive.
Great hidden cocktail bar, the lychee drinks are quite unique
The service and bartenders are second to none. Really nice vibe, pretty chilled with a great playlist the night we went. All the drinks we tried were delicious.
Quaint cosy little bar that has some great decor and yummy cocktails. I was a little disappointed on a couple cocktails that lacked some severe pungent-ness and seems a bit too sweet for my liking, but that is my only criticism. Apart from that, the service is great, cool little bar and I really liked the Chinese Propaganda on the walls to set the mood.
Cozy little cocktail bar decorated with Chinese propaganda and various cultural material.
The Great Leap Forward is quite the drink with reference to quite a period in history.
My friend didn't finish her bubble tea.
Great decor and even better drinks. The bubble teas are delicious, not tapioca but jelly, but still outstanding. We tried 3 of them and none of them tasted alcoholic so its dangerous but such a great bar! Super friendly staff too, recommend taking your comrades
