Craving pizza but something a bit different ? The Moors Head serves Middle eastern inspired pizza with a choice of Pide or Manoushe (difference is the shape) .
The highlight was the Bosphorus Pide the prawns were fresh and the base was crispy. For dessert the Jamil, a ricotta filled pastry was our favourite topped with Salted Caramel ice cream.
Always love pizza, but always want to try something different. When I saw this place on Zomato, I decided to give a try, after arrived at a raining night and ordered the prawn pide, I realise this is the best pide I never had before. Fresh made crunchy base, prawn is fresh and juicy, a bit more touched garlic might be better. But overall is nice place to have “inauthentic” pizza and will go back to try others.
I've been wanting to visit the original Thornbury store for a while, and was excited to hear they'd opened a branch in Carlton. The place has a nice casual vibe and staff are helpful. We ordered the labne and Za'ater fries to start, both very generous servings. For mains, we had the Oum Kalthoum manoushe and Golden Terrace pide, both of which were excellent. The pizzas were flavoursome with a crusty base, not too much dough, and a great combination of toppings. I loved the spiced minced meat of the pide which packed a nice kick. Much better than most traditional pizzas I've had on Lygon. Will definitely be back with friends and family to try more.
Super excited to do this review because we just had such a fantastic time dining here! Moor’s Head in Carlton is a newly opened branch off the 11 year old Middle Eastern restaurant, Rumi, in Brunswick – which has hosted world class chefs such as Anthony Bourdain, and Heston Blumenthal. Needless to say, we were very excited to come here! The specialty of Moor’s Head lies in its tagline: “Inauthentic Pizza” – this means that traditional pizza toppings of mozzarella and tomatoes are replaced by warm and heart Middle Eastern flavours and spices instead – definitely one of its kind in Melbourne! Tucked away in a lofty, timber-panelled bar-like restaurant just off the busy Lygon Street, Moor’s Head did not only stand out in terms of its exceptional customer service, but also its carefully selected, unique combination of Middle Eastern flavours permeating through each of their dishes that left us with craving for more (if we had not been food coma-ed).
Been going to the Thornbury shop for years, decided to try the new spot after a a long day of work. Close to the city so conveniently placed for those after work drinks. Can't fault it. Cool space, a little different to the Thornbury restaurant but really consistent in the pizzas. Bit more of a drink space with a few different beers on tap. Always friendly service and not too over the top. Glad to see this Northside institution spreading its love. Highly recommended.
Have been to The Moors Head in Thornbury and loved it! Visited the new restaurant in Carlton yesterday and everything was great! Highly recommended.
Awesome food, great staff and a cool space. (I asked the waitperson what the tunes were and she said a selection of Arabic hip hop - added to the cool vibe). Highly recommend the pumpkin pizza and the prawn pizza. My only suggestion is perhaps a bigger wine list.
Had been to the one in Thornbury and decided to try the new one at Carlton. Am happy to say it is up to the standard. Pretty awesome space behind the front bar. The prawn pizza and minced beef pizza are still standouts and it is great they can offer some more stuff on the starters menu and dessert menu. Good range of beers on tap as well.
I loved Moor’s Head Carlton. Beautiful room, Just as delicious as the original Thornbury venue with a great tap beer selection. Try the haloumi fries and the Turkamisu!
