Review Wagyu One - Melbourne

Amazing restaurant. Freshest selection of meats and great quality. Such a nice atmosphere and well worth the visit. Would highly recommend to family and friends and also return again in the future

Nice, high quality meat in a classic environment. Cook the higher marbles meats rarer and they melt in your mouth. A nice selection of sakes, umeshu and other Japanese liquors. Would probably be a good place for first dates as if you're not fully comfortable with someone yet, the distraction of cooking the meats should alleviate awkward silences.

One of great Japanese BBQ places in the city. I like how every cut is served to the highest standards, and not forget to mention the dessert tasted fantastic! Will definitely come back for special occasions!

I visited Wagyu One very disappointing. The Wagyu Beef was like a tennis ball . As you can see from the photos they are that lazy that they deep fry the vegetables nothing like the picture. I highly recommend that you find someone where else to eat. Not worth the $60 for a very below average wagyu and some broccoli oh and a beer of course.

Meat quality was good, portion was good for the price but honestly I’ve had better elsewhere..
Yunus Yurtsever
Good service. Affordable and all you can eat. I would normally pay about $500-$600 anywhere else I go to eat. But this place has a nice atmosphere with friendly staff.

Rate this place! ambience is good and food is always good.. definitely recommend you try it out

I came to the buffet with my friends, but one of the staff refused our food order in the middle of our meal because she thought we had ordered too much, when there were actually 6 of us. Although another staff came to settle the matter afterwards, it was still a very bad experience. The food was good and varied, and the two stars lost were attributed to the first lady I mentioned.

We went on a Sunday for my wife's birthday for the first time and everything was absolutely fantastic! We had a private room, the staff were all really friendly especially our waitress Mizuki, everything was explained really well and the food was amazing. We both got the Signature course buffet and were a little worried about the time limit but we were both full by about the half way point. The meat was incredible, especially the Wagyu Oyster Blade, and the desert tasted as good as it looked. It was a really great evening and we will definitely be back!

I booked a table For two on Zomato. I have received the confirm text but when we got to the restaurant they didn’t find out booking. Fortunately a really nice waitress found us a table. We got the BBQ Wagyu set menu for 2 persons. The meat was great very tasty. In the set menu there were a soup and a plate of mix sashimi. We loved it. We really had an amazing dinner and the staff was very warm and nice. We didn’t wait long between the courses. Really recommend

This place is beyond 5, personally for my experience it’s 10/5. The staff are so polite with beautiful manners, easy to approach and the food are amazing. Their wagyu beef literally grills on the plate less than 1 min and it just melts in your mouth.

For reservation system: I booked it on Zomato, was very fast and convenient. When I arrived at there, been looked after well by staff, I like it. For the food: Fresh! Delicious! Creative! The wagyu was so tender and juicy, good one! Love it! For drinks: I like my Yuzu tonic! Sour and sweet! Highly recommended.

I love coming here for lunch with my work colleagues. The food is delicious and the service is terrific. The best meal on the menu is the Yakiniku Don (spicy). Mathilda (staff) is very lovely and is extremely helpful and police. I love her service and the food and have come here on weekends with family members also. Five stars!!!

Paid 85 dollars a head for buffet menu. Waited 20mins to receive our serving of kimchi and wasabi octopus. Currently 30mins in to only just receive the 4 pieces of salmon and 4 pieces of tuna. Keep in mind that it's 120min timed dining experience on a Wednesday night. Service is too slow for a timed experience. Trying to make a large marginal profit maybe?
Martin Burley
Very friendly staff. Had a spicy wagyu dish which was extremely tasty. Will definitely go back when next in Melbourne.

We have been there three times. And we were always pleased by their food and service. I especially recommend the lunch menu, which is a bargain.
Joe Ibrahim
Great place, great food, great staff, highly recommended to all. We will be back again

Coming to wagyu one was definitely one the highlight of my trip to Melbourne. Staff fantastic and food amazing

A new experience and BBQ and Seafoods wow so delicious! Staff were so awesome too. Highly recommend

Actually I quite like the food here. But the service here made me so disappointed. I don't understand why the waitress always take the wrong order. And even we didn't order the food they kept asking us to take away. They should be more professional at least they should take right order which I don't think it's hard for them at all. Because that's why they can get pay from.
Vivian
we came here just before restrictions and enjoyed the all you can eat menu. The wagyu quality is quite good but some of the dishes are sooo big( make sure you choose wisely as you have to finish all the dishes before you leave to avoid a penalty).

We went to WagyuOne as a late Valentines dinner and we saw that the reviews on Zomato were great so we decided to give it a try. We chose the $88 all you can eat menu which includes a wide selection of wagyu, pork, chicken, sashimi etc which was very impressive.

As it was $88 pp for dinner (drinks not included) we had very high expectations which were not met. The wagyu was very frozen and the quality of the meat was not there. Most of the wagyu was very chewy and did not have a melt in your mouth feeling.

We tried ordering the steak dish and the steak was very dry and chewy. Again, not a favourite and I would not recommend getting the steak due to the flavours. The icecreams flavours were quite interesting as well - the roasted green tea is a more familiar flavour than the salted caramel icecream.

The salmon salad as surprisingly delicious as well as the salmon sashimi. The strawberry daifuku was very nice too.

Overall, it was a bit disappointing considering the price point. Perhaps the a le carte menu would have been a better option.
Charlie
Actually I was disappointed with Wagyu quality , it was M4-M5 wagyu but the price is a bit expensive for this quality. Other is tempura was crispy and light taste with special sauce , that is good !
Kelvin Yuanhao Li
I like this restaurant so much that monthly visits never get me tired. They serve the Wagyu barbecue buffet with $58/person and extra sashimi with $88/person, you can have unlimited meat to enjoy in 2 hours. Will still be a frequent customer.

Food and service were both average. There are better options in the area.

Staff were friendly - wish we had known how amazing the garlic butter wagyu was. its a must try!

Premium, delicious meats that reflect its price. The more expensive slices may not be for everybody as their flavour is delicately balanced and succulent as Japanese steaks are, without too much of a strong emphasis on the steak flavour. If you enjoy the melt-in-your-mouth meats, this place is a good one to hit.

Friendly greeting and staff, a relaxed and light hearted atmosphere with spacious seating that suits for families and groups.

*note: your clothes will smell vaguely like bbq afterwards as is expected with any bbq place

Don’t try beef tataki
Cookielessvee
$58 all you can korean BBQ.

Booth seating and nice interior. The place is quite stuffy as there is no ventilation but the seats are comfortable.

Order 5 dishes at a time and the plate is regularly changed and dishes are taken away.

The pork belly is impressive. Fatty and juicy. The meats are tender and the small dishes are made to order. Desserts, a variety and the miso caramel is unique with a sweet taste.

I came here 2 consecutive months the 1st month I came with my colleagues, it was very smokey even though the situation was like that the staff were very nice and apologetic. I booked this month during their confirmation call I asked about the smoke the staff said it was all clear. I had to make sure coz this time I am going with family and I have toddlers with me. I came on a friday night it was very busy we were attended properly and no smoke at all. I am also a restaurant owner myself the food is great but I commend the most is the staff. I dont know how they could give great service in such a busy restaurant. Ill definitely comeback for a corporate meeting next year. Job well done Wagyu1!!!
Daniel Wang
It was just a coincidence to find this Japanese restaurant when walking down the burke street. Sort of invisible in lunch time that was not very busy. Service was surprisingly great. We had wagyu steak, sushimi and deep-fried katsu coming with miso soup and rice. Very valuable with affordable price ranges in lunch time ! Definitely come back at dinner time next time to have their all you can eat option !!
Jophy Ye
The buffet was Such a waste of money. First, the whole restaurant was sooo smoky! Cuz they dont have proper chimney to suck out the smoke. Secondly, when my friend ask about the zomato gold rules, they had pass the question over 3 people to get the answer.

Secondly, i would expceted some nicely performance of the food. But by start of the sashimi, as the picture, i dont think they deserve the name as CHEF. Not to mention the meat. Yes i said meat, not wagyu. Not all of them are as Wagyu as they says on the menu.
The whold dinner was finished with shocking and disappointing. It suprises me that how's a cheating, horrible taste restaurant could be well known as this.
Anyway, definitely wont go back, and certainly not recommend anyone go there too.
Gary Wang
there should be a chimney to remove the smoke away!
Hello. Imnikki
For the price point, this place is more than decent for when you want to indulge in a wagyu feast. For 90 minutes you can order as many dishes as you like, and you have 2 hours to eat them all. Try not to feel like a glutton later, I dare ya.

Order from an iPad, and while there's not much interaction between staffs and customers, the staffs are very friendly when needed to chase up missing items or to put in extra order.

Even the cooked to order dishes such as chicken karaage, takoyaki and the spicy cheese tofu were executed reasonably well, and you can't really fault the flavours.

What we all really enjoyed too was the strawberry daifuku. Wrapped in a thin and slightly chewy layer of skin, with strawberry jam and cream inside - we couldn't stop ordering them.

One downside is the ventilation, or more specially a lack of ventilation. Be prepared to smell like BBQ meat after your meal here.
Walter
Not worth the price, the quality of the beef is very average kind of hard actually. The food is really good in the beginning however as you keep ordering the quality diminishes. This is an all u can eat restaurant, but provides an okay price for when you feel like eating a lot of meat.

As massive wagyu fans, my boyfriend and I were super keen to visit Wagyu One for some Japanese barbeque. We'd heard so much about some fantastic wagyu, and of course about their all-you-can-eat deal. We made an 8:30 booking for a Tuesday evening but there was no need as upon arrival, there were plenty of free tables.

Immediately loved the ambience of the restaurant and how spacious the tables are. We had a massive booth and table all to ourselves and were not disturbed by other customers' conversations which was great. We were largely left to ourselves but staff were very attentive and helpful when needed.

As we don't usually manage to eat our money's worth of all-you-can-eat, we went for their Wagyu One Enjoyment set instead ($98 for 1-2 people) and added on some gyoza and cocktails. The set featured 400g of a variety of wagyu cuts, including MS5 sirloin and scotch fillet- can't refuse that! Every cut was wonderfully tender though my favourites would be the scotch and oyster blade.

In the end, it was a fun and intimate dinner, with some delicious wagyu cuts. Definitely want to come back and attempt the all-you-can-eat next time!

Don't ever order the $88 buffet. It's not worth it. From what we ordered only 2 dish that is good. The others are not worth the price. You will thank me :)

Went there for all you can eat Wagyu buffet with family and the experience was great. Service is friendly and helpful. Mum was sick that night and couldn’t eat much and the owner/manager took her off the bill. The place can be a bit Smokey though so don’t wear you best clothes if you you don’t wanna smell like wearing bbq. Overall good value

Went for the buffet and really went all out. I ate so much that the next day I had stomach issues from overeating lol. The service here is good and the value for your money is amazing.

FoodiePete
My one ans only favourite Japanese bbq in melb!
You have the option select buffet or menu only.
Both ways are fine! The sauces and meat are always on point! I've become a regular attending here with family and friends. Highly recommended and staff are always friendly.

Went there with my wife for our anniversary.
We decided to go for the $88 all you can eat bbq, we both like the idea of all you can eat options there are so many items to choose from.
The sashimi was very fresh, and my wife loves their tofu dishes, but the quality of their wagyu beef nothing taste like a wagyu I had before, and to be honest, is taste like regular beef.
We paid $200 that night and with the beef quality I really don’t think is worth the money.
Claire Yuen
Dropped by late one night and was surprised by the affordable price and generous servings in this roast beef rice bowl. Apple vinegar sauce complemented the rice really well. Service was really good as well.
FoodLoverQueenM
The place I heard so many times for wagyu. I am the wagyu lover for both Japan and Australia. This is like a buffet, two choice for $88 or $58. We selected $88 pp and you can eat everything but drinks got extra. 5 dishes per order include bbq, Salad, and steak.Good value though. Nice try.

Strawberryannie
I got the $168 set for 2 people instead of all you can eat. Got some entrees and extra meat. Portion size is a bit small. But quality was amazing. Every piece was so soft and tender and full of flavour. Service was slightly slow and also the store was quite smokey so they definitely need to improve the ventilation system. But overall good experience
Eat Good Melbourne
As the name suggests, Wagyu One offers a range of premium Wagyu cuts for Japanese barbecue. We ordered a few cuts to sample, ox tongue, sashimi, tataki, tempura and the aburi wagyu nigiri. The sashimi was really fresh and the tempura was light and crispy. The meats were all super soft and tender. If you splurge on anything here let it be the aburi. It’s flame torched at your table to your liking and if watching the meat melt wasn’t satisfying enough, this glossy juicy piece of sushi literally melts in your mouth. At $15 a pop it’s worth every cent.

Been here many times. Really extensive and interesting menu. Wagyu here are good quality but it’s more expensive than I thought.. The customer service was speedy and friendly. Definitely recommend.

If you looking to have a quick dinner then I recommend you Wagyu One will be best for you. I been their many times and their food was always delicious.

One star rating for overall bad service. I expected more given we spent $200!for 2 ppl. Upon arrival we were asked whether we’ve been there before, and we told you yes we have. The experience was bad because:
1. You repeatedly told us (3times) that if we have leftovers we will be fined. We know the rules because we just told you we have been here before...
2. After telling us about the fine 3 times you then refer us to the rules. Why don’t you just refer us to the rules in the first place?
3. We were allowed 1.5 hours to eat and order food and another 30 mins after to finish up. You came to take our menu away before our 1.5 hours was up. You made us rush through our dessert.
4. Bad presentation- food were just randomly placed on table and empty plates weren’t cleared on a timely basis.
5. Don’t have something on the menu if you aren’t willing to stock it! I’ve been there 3 times and out of 2 times the same item I’m after have either “ran out” or “don’t have”.

Overall it just wasn’t a great experience to be nagged about the rules when you know we’ve been there before and rushed to finish up and have items on the menu you are not willing to stock. Not great at all.

If you are a meat eater, this Japanese bbq is one of the best to go. You could choose the a la carte or buffet menu. High quality wagyu. Perfect for birthday party or any social gathering!
Goldengimoro
Staffs are friendly, the pork belly is really good. However, some of the tempuras are still raw. And the miso eggplant tastes terrible. I recommend you need to try the combination of the beef with green tea or hojicha ice cream!!!!
Andy
Worth the price, amazing food quality and amazing service, great place for birthdays or anniversary, japanese all you can eat bbq what more can you ask for.
Jack Lawrence
I went here tonight with a early booking for 2 people. Very nice inside and we were quickly seated and everything was explained to us as it was our first time. Food was really nice and you can cook it at your own pace, though there is a time limit to keep in mind. Service and food was excellent and i would come again. Dessert choice is not as big as the mains but I'm not a dessert person anyway. The price is decent for what you get and i would highly recommend and would come back

Wagyu One Dinner Complete

Very fancy Japanese bbq place, the staff were very professional and provided very good service. Usually, at normal bbq joints, it is loud and cramped but Wagyu One was quiet, calm and relaxing. The staff let us cook and eat at own pace, there was no feeling of being rushed.
The set we ordered included sashimi, assorted tempura, bbq, rice and soup. I really enjoyed the tempura especially the vegetable tempura. The mushroom and eggplant were very tender and the prawn tempura tasted very fresh and juicy. The sashimi tasted fresh but nothing really special.
The bbq set we got was presented very nicely, with an assortment of different cuts of meat. My favourite cut was the diced ox tongue. Although the portion was small the meat was very fatty and tender, I highly recommend this set. I am looking forward to coming back.

Worst wagyu quality I ever had. I op for alacarte for the premium wagyu. The scotch fillet does not look anything like the menu. RIP OFF!!! The fire keep going off too. Can't even cook the beef properly. Go to a proper place for quality wagyu!
TheHappyFoodie
Shame on you! We came for a family dinner celebrating a 10 year old child’s birthday as she really wanted to try this restaurant. We came as a table of 5. We kindly explained it’s a child’s birthday and the child’s mother suffered from a stroke and has a disability so won’t be able to do the all you can eat and just wanted to do the a la carte however the rest of us was gonna do the all you can eat deal. The staff did not listen, could not care less and would not even cater for people with disabilities and different circumstances. It ruined the entire child’s birthday and we just stood up and left with her coming home crying! SHAME ON YOU TO NOT EVEN TRY UNDERSTAND DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES TRY CATER FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE DISABILITIES. YOURE IN A HOSPITALITY BUSINESS!

Food: amazing amazing amazing! Let’s just add another amazing for effect.. meats are so tender so scrumptious soooooo delicious! U must try the wagyu nigiri (we ordered 3 rounds)

Service: amazing service 10/10 very friendly and helpful crew

Ambiance: great inside. Huge tables to accommodate all the food we always order! Only fault is it got REALLY hot in there and smoky.

Overall; we will be back, so yum... the nigiri flavour is burnt into my memory! YUM YUM 🍣🍣

QB👸🏼👸🏼

Been to this place for several times. They offer really affordable menu and some of the drinks are special like Matcha beer..
Wagyu here are not the best but it’s reaching or sometimes beyond our expectation with that price point.. Menu is clear and easy to choose from, providing three main ways for enjoying Wagyu.. And there is all you can eat option that could feed every one well.

Recommend!
Nice food but terrible staff, no service at 90% time, we booked from Zomato. The staff couldn’t found our booking, which we found our booking in first place in they iPad booking list. It’s Saturday night, so we only can sat at bar table. Some staffs playing their mobile phone, we ordered a drink, took more than 15 mins to show up, we found whole restaurant caught in smoke, until we can’t stay any more, we realized the meat on huge fire at next table, none staffs were care about it or try to help the customer. I was look around the restaurant, I can’t seen any staff at time. Upload some photos to proof,no photo for meat on fire(too rude, they were looked at us)
Wang Eric
Be there for the buffet. The meat is not as good as usual, the stove has low power fire that cannot cook the meat properly. More importantly, when we complaint the fire with waiter, the waiter does not resolve the problem, and talk the bad words for us with other service staffs in front of us. Never again, horrible service

Booked from zomato, when we arrive there they said they don't have my booking info. But they still have table available, that is ok. The problem is when we sit down ,they say they don't offer buffet Mon-Fri noon…But on zomato it says Buffet 11:30am-2:45pm Mon-Sun……It's really upset!!!

Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ambiance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Value: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Almost perfect in every way. The staff were courteous and enthusiastic. We were immediately welcomed as we walked in.

We had the all you can eat menu that had the Wagyu beef. The beef was really tender. All the salads were delicious and the serving sizes were generous. The cuts of meat provided here were so much better than other BBQ joints in the CBD.

My only complaint is that there needs to be more air circulation as the place can get really hot and smokey when everyone is having the BBQ.

I will be back again!
Sienna Sayers
Awesome wagyu beef and rice dish! I had the wagyu roast beef on rice lunch deal. It comes with a side of miso soup and your choice of drinks. Good quality meat was soft and tender. We had salads as well, the beef salad was yum. Selection of sauces was good. Food came out real quick after ordering on the iPad. Staff was friendly and helpful, we felt really welcomed. Definitely coming back again after the first positive and satisfying experience.

Food: $85pp buffet option

I had a really enjoyable experience at Wagyu One. The quality of their cut of meats is superb. If you are wanting to go for the buffet option; you can choose either the $55pp or $85pp. The $85pp buffet includes many options ranging from entrees, mains, soups, noodles soups, salads and desserts. You will be given an Ipad where you just order the food you want to eat and they waitress/waiter will just come out with the dish you selected. They also give you additional sauce condiments on the side to dip the meats in. The chef provided us with King Fish Sashimi on the house which was a bonus ✨All the food we ate on the picture was delicious, we did did order wayyy more. The only let down was that - $85 buffet option did not include any drinks.
Eatwithbonny
Came here on Wednesday night for their buffet. It was quite pack. We didn’t make a booking but still manage to get a table.

We went with $85 buffet per person. They also have a cheaper option with $55 per person.

The buffet includes wagyu beef, sushi, sashimi, salad, donburi and dessert. It is massive selection for you to have.

We obviously went there for their wagyu beef. However, I am quite disappointed with their beef. Some of the meat quality are good but overall is just so so. We tried almost all of the meat but nothing that we really want to re-order again. Also, most of their meat are marinated and I am not a big fan of marinated meat for bbq.

We had salmon salad, kimchi, takowasabi on the side. Salmon salad wasn’t spectacular neither. The dressing is overpowering everything. Takowasabi wasn’t that good as well but we still need to finished it according to the terms and condition.

Their desserts are amazing. We had their daifuku, cheesecake, matcha mousse and ice cream. So so so good.

I will definitely come back for their dessert not for the buffet.

Nom Monster
My partner and I opted for the $85 All You Can Eat option and we absolutely loved it!

Great quality beef, and so many options to choose from (both raw and ready to eat)! Some of our favs were the ox tongue and crispy steak. There was so much more but we didn’t really catch what they were... I would recommend sticking more towards the beef because the pork belly was average but a nice break from beef.

If like me you have a second stomach for dessert, their ice-cream and matcha cheesecake was delicious.

The dishes were generously proportioned, so order wisely. If you waste food there’s a potential fee (~$20). We watched a table leave almost half their dishes and were certainly charged the extra.

The service was fast and friendly. The best thing is we didn’t have to wait long for our orders.

Agreeing with another reviewer that it is worth the price! I’ve been to a handful of “high-end” AYCE buffets and this is by far the only one I’ve actually really enjoyed and would go back to.
Happytalent.66
We were recommended by a few friends that this Wagyu place is serving good portion of beef of good quality. Then we tried this Sunday lunch with $55 pp buffet. It was really nice. Portion is good and came very quickly. There is nearly a delay in serving beef, which is really good for a buffet place. Wagyu slice is really tender and fresh. Staff is also approachable and friendly. Definitely it is haven for wagyu lovers.
Makan2Melbourne
Came here for the meat, but unfortunately, they didn’t serve the bbq meat for lunch. So we had to order the lunch menu, which were mainly rice bowls. The meat was average, definitely not high grade wagyu, but you get what you paid for. My favourite one was the wagyu yuzu miso steak. The sauce was flavourful. But they were all just average. The wagyu katsu was the most disappointing. The panko didn’t coat the wagyu properly. would want to try their bbq, but definitely don’t recommend their lunch menu.
Alex
Great location. Nice food. But I don’t like the part that they use gas instead of charcoal. Meat is less tasty and I can smell the gas which is quite disappointing.
~Happy Neko~
More options if you dine in with the all you can eat menu, limited options for take away. Great option if you love your meat and hungry with big appetites.

A nice Japanese BBQ restaurant. we are choosing the BBQ buffet for dinner. the meat is very fresh and the sauce has a strong flavor. There are plenty of beef dishes you can choose here! Food came out real quick after ordering on the iPad. Staff was friendly and helpful, we felt really welcomed. Definitely coming back!

There are plenty of beef dishes you can choose. Wagyu dish is one of the dishes you must try. The wagyu beef with vegetables and miso soup is a great set. Beef is tender and juicy. A nice Japanese BBQ restaurant. we are choosing the BBQ buffet for dinner. the meat is very fresh and the sauce has a strong flavor. For the price, is the best choice for people who have not enough money in your pocket.

There are plenty of beef dishes you can choose. Wagyu dish is one of the dishes you must try. I have tried Wagyu one beef, Wagyu beef Don and crispy chicken. The Wagyu one beef with vegetables and miso soup is a great set. Beef is tender and juicy. Wagyu beef Don is one of the best lunch special choices. The meat is very fresh and the sauce has a strong flavor. We really enjoyed our time there. We were impressed. I would definitely recommend your restaurant to others.

Very good! Great portions, excellent flavor, and friendly accommodating wait staff. There are plenty of beef dishes you can choose. Wagyu dish is one of the dishes you must try. I have tried Wagyu one beef, Wagyu beef Don and crispy chicken. The Wagyu one beef with vegetables and miso soup is a great set. Service is always excellent, the waiters are on top of everything and we love the ambiance. I've heard some say they weren't too impressed when it first opened, but they are amazing now with whatever they changed!

This place might not be cheap at a glance however I reckon this is one of the very few bbq buffet places that actually worth the money. The basic meats were already very good but you can spend more money to get an even better quality meat. One of the noticeable different from other bbq places was the beef, they were very lean. The karaage was also one of the most tender karaage i have ever had and it sure left a good impression. The salad that was included in the package tasted nice and fresh and it came in a big portion so you might want to be careful not to over order. We also ordered sushi platter which was fresh and nicely served. To close it off, they had a few desserts that tasted very nice.
Some Bunee Loves Food
Came here for lunch today with my partner and I ordered the Wagyu Yakiniku Don with the bbq Wagyu beef on rice and comes with a miso soup. My partner ordered the hamburg meal with some wedges, spaghetti, rice and miso soup. My wagyu beef on rice was ok, tasted like miso sauce on the rice. It kinda reminded me of rice workshop. I didn't finish it. The miso soup was good though. I tried my partner's hamburg meal, the wedges are soft, the hamburg has this herby-taste, not sure what it is, but I didn't like it. The ogawa coffee - i'm not sure what it supposed to taste like, but it was very flavourless and plain, no coffee punch at all.

Craving for Japanese BBQ after class with friend 💗feeling satisfied overall! We had the $55 all you can eat. I like the portion of each dish, won’t be too much so you can try all of them. The beef quality was good! As you know, all you can eat quality can be 😫😫😫, but in Wagyu One, it’s not ! ☺️wanna come back again( ^ω^ )

My friend and I celebrated my birthday here. We pre booked and got a lovely large booth. Some of the reviews here say that the service is ‘slow’ but what do you expect from such a busy place. The waiters and waitresses were always moving around. The food was great and I would recommend ordering your new set of bbq meat before you finish your current set, so the meat arrives in time. We never waited more than 8-10mins after we ordered for the meat to arrive. We had the $55 all you can eat deal. Satisfied us very much because, let’s be honest, who tell the difference between the meats anyway? The marination was great. The three
Choices of ice cream was awesome. I was so keen to eat, I forgot the photos!

Good value for money, we chose the $80 all you can eat, lots of choices. Worth a try if you like Japanese bbq! Favourites were: beef tataki, miso steak and sashimi salad.

Came here for dinner and we had the option of choosing between the $55 or $85 all you can eat menu. We opt for the $85 because why not! We tried all the wagyu except for the original kalbi which was sold out. But out of all the wagyu, we liked the oyster blade and another cut (which I have forgotten the name of, oops). They were melt in your mouth worthy! The sushi aburi which was limited to 1 per person didn’t have a wow factor to it. The sashimi wasn’t the best but still fresh. Staff were really friendly but the service was slooow. It took them almost 20 mins to bring out a plate of wagyu out each time we ordered something off of the menu. We were only subject to 90 mins and the more we waited, the less time we got to eat.

Average bbq overall with food quality, service, and environment. I would rate three and a half star. The servant there is friendly. One time visit is okay.

Food:
We chose the all you can eat $85 menu.
There is a 2 hr limit and you can order for the next 1.5 hrs. In the last 30mins they will let you know that you can order one last time.
Definitely suggest the oyster wagyu cut!! It was delicious. Can’t go wrong in the icecream and dessert sections. Also Drinks are 15% off when you choose the buffet menu.
Service was good, tho I think one of the waitress was thinking how on earth does a skinny chick fit all this food into her belly. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Environment:
Got a booth to the 2 of us. Nice spacey place for my belly and I.

Taste:
Let’s just say... I’m still dreaming about the fat on the wagyu meat 🤤
So tender and juicy.

Value:
It’s not cheap, but it is a lovely experience. I mean you get all the variety, and heaps of choices! Soooooo for me being on vacation, I’m like why not!

I have been for several times. There are plenty of beef dishes you can choose. Wagyu dish is one of the dishes you must try. I have tried Wagyu one beef ,Wagyu beef Don and crispy chicken. The Wagyu one beef with vegetables and miso soup is a great set. Beef is tender and juicy. Wagyu beef Don is one of the best lunch special choices, which is cheap, but I am not sure if it is wagyu beef. It tastes delicious. Crispy chicken tastes okay, not any special.

I'm impressed by the quality of their wagyu here. It's really really yummy and the restaurant doesn't smell smoky once the bbq starts. But the service from staff can be a bit underwhelming. They refused to leave a jug of water for us to pour at our own pace because those jugs are for 'reserved' tables where their guests have not arrived. And by the time we finished, guests for those tables with jugs of water have not even arrived. We all found it weird and distasteful...

Definitely a good, quick and easy Japanese BBQ to try in Melbourne. SD situated at the top end of Bourke St this place has good quality beef and great Sake with adequate service.

food 4/5
service 3/5
environment 3/5

A nice Japanese BBQ restaurant. we are choosing the BBQ buffet for dinner. the meat is very fresh and the sauce have strong flavor. For the price, is the best choice for people who have not enough money in your pocket.

Food is good, especially the beef and ice cream, my friend and I have many things to choose. But one of the female workers is rude and impolite.

Beat all you can eat place for any meat eater. I LOVE wagyu beef, and for 88 bucks all you can eat, this is a steal. Feasted on bulk beef tongue and short rib. Terrific!

On 26th September 2018. My boyfriend took me to Wagyu One to celebrate my 30th birthday one day earlier. Pei was one of the workers who helped us along the way. She was very polite and helpful and efficient. She really went out of her way. I knew she had lot of things to get done, taking orders, cleaning up, keeping an eye out for more customers along the way. Food was delicious and filling
BBQ Kaarange chicken, rice, Wagyu one enjoyment which is a signature cut selection of Wagyu Beef - 400 grams

MS5 Sirloin,MS5 Scotch,Tongue,Oyster Blade, Ramp, Flap meat,Tri Tip, Yakishabu,Chu-Toro

We asked for the tongue to be swapped and the chefs gave us more Tri Tip.

Drinks were good too
Matcha Green Tea with Lychee and Grape
Kirin Ichiban

They had a lot of alcoholic drinks other restaurants don’t have. The premium stuff.

The entrance process began with a bang and all of the workers thanking us at the same time as we left. All of the workers were professional. Everybody was focused.

We really enjoyed our time there. We were impressed. I would definitely recommend your restaurant to others. See you soon.

A good-to-try if you are a fan of either wagyu or buffet, and a must-go if both are ur favorites. The taste of the food is as amazing as the service here!

Not a bad place!

Their known for their wagyu (hence the name) and of course we had to try their wagyu. We had the sukiyaki as well as shabu shabu. Enjoyed our meal there.

The waiters were friendly and welcoming. Note that your clothing may smell a bit as the ventilation in the restaurant wasn’t the best. But this may have been improved since.

Love love love. Would score 4.5/5!
Boyfriend took me here for our anniversary dinner and i must say it was an excellent choice!
Good quality meat, was soft and tender. We had salads as well, the beef salad was yum.
Selection of sauces was good. Food came out real quick after ordering on the ipad. Staff were friendly and helpful, we felt really welcomed.

Enjoyed all the dishes we ordered tbh.
Definitely coming back again after the first positive and satisfying experience.

While Wagyu One do have an a-la-carte menu, for best value and an immensely enjoyable experience, go with the $55 all you can eat option.
You're strictly limited to a 2 hour session, and 30 mins before the end they will ask you for last orders and dessert. Orders are placed through an ipad, and dishes come out fairly quickly.

There are various cuts of wagyu beef - all achingly tender with fatty juices running after each bite.
I love the garlic butter you get as well, with a quick dip, the beef goes to another level.
Interestingly, most of the beef doesn't smoke up but fatty pork belly will light the place up.

The quality of meat is really good, with probably a marbling score of around 5-7, depending on the cut.

The wagyu shabu is thinly sliced and chars up in no time, so you can fold it up and pop it in your mouth real quick. I really wanted to dip it in egg yolk, but they didn't have any!
A little bit of a downside is that the BBQ is gas/electric rather than charcoal.

Extremely refreshing is the draught Kirin on tap, it's so cold with a good amount of head, so good, but dangerously filling too.
Really enjoyed my experience, I would go back in a heartbeat!

We had a private room last night. Food was really good and staff very friendly and helpful. Great Japanese experience and our 8 year old loved cooking her Wagu! Highly recommend for a fun and reasonably priced dinner.

Came in with my family as a first visit (4 of us) recommended by one of our friend, we ordered buffet style dinner $85 per head; when we ordered our second bottle of sake( $158 per bottle), we tasted it, it tasted like water, then we called up the wait staff, ask them to explain, it came up three wait staff, but none of them could explain why the sake bottle had water in the brand new bottle, and no one even say anything to us at all. And the wait staff told us the water In the bottle about 2-3days...We feel disgusting after having these “water” , when we stood up to the counter to pay, the lady not even say sorry or anything... I am not sure what kind of this service they provide.. very disappointed... even the food was alright, but to have “water” in the sake bottle is not what we expecting at all...

To begin with, the staff were a bit slow on service with getting menus and drinks to the table, we had to call them over numerous times. This was, however, made up for as we both thoroughly enjoyed the wagyu buffet.

The worse experience ever in Melbourne CBD. Me and husband decided to try and have our Friday night date at this place. We booked at 8pm and we ordered 2 people of all you can eat and drinks at the very beginning. There’s no water only glasses for display on our table. I have to asked water and we wait for the first round of food around 15 minutes but the fire is out of order and the portable one is no gas. So I asked again for the fire and water came like 8:40. Not even mentioned our drinks arrived 8:50 when I ordered at 8:10. So the table around us was all constant getting some service and we are in the middle like two invisible people. When we put the order in iPad it depends on the kitchen staff if they feels like they will provide the food if not then just like us. We wait for 20 minutes for a small serve of kimchi and all I can say is if you don’t have enough man power or staff then don’t take my booking. You can see all the staff running around but just not your table when you paid the same money. Why bothered to try this place. Go somewhere else to have better experience. A huge mistake and lesson learned.

Awesome wagyu beef and rice dish! I had the wagyu roast beef on rice lunch deal. It comes with a side of miso soup and your choice of drinks (beer, wine, soft drinks or matcha soda). The beef is thinly sliced, and cooked to medium, it’s tender and very delicious. At $17.8 it’s not cheap, but you get what you paid for.

This place boasts the finest quality Wagyu beef alongside other Japanese favourites. There’s also an option for an All-you-can-eat BBQ buffet for 2 hours. But we decided to order something quite differently and went for both the hot pot (Shabu Shabu) plus a BBQ set. A+ for the BBQ because you can really taste that tender meat. However, the Shabu Shabu was disappointing. Zero flavour in the soup and the assorted vegetables were hard to pick up and eat… Thank gosh for the dipping sauces, which added some taste to the meat afterwards.

Tried the 85$ buffet, really excellent service, the food comes fast and all dishes taste good. I think wagyu one buffet is the best in Melbourne.

Last night I went to wagyu one to celebrate my friend’s graduation. The service here is amazing , they are responsive and quick. We ordered the $55 per person all you can eat. The dishes came out quick to our order considering it was busy last night. It is not my first time coming for both all you can eat and regular meal. definitely worth the money. Plus the whole atmosphere was great. They change the metal grate when it is starting to be a problem for us. Overall great service , great atmosphere and great value if you enjoy all you can eat meat and other selected items that they have.

I have tried wagyu sukiyaki, shabushabu and all you can eat BBQ here. Especially sukiyaki is my fav, good quality of wagyu meat and price is reasonable. Staffs here are also friendly. I will definitely be back here again!

We had a good time dining here. My friend who lives in Japan for a long time recommended this restaurant, and we felt very satisfied with the food and service. Wagyu was fresh and the texture looked good. probably the only thing we could complain is that they don't have lemon bitter in jugs...

Wagyu One, a restaurant strategically located in the CBD, right on Bourke Street. Being famous of their all-you-can-eat buffet, Wagyu One does stand true to what they deliver - quality food and quality customer service.

For the wagyu beef, they do offer meat with different flavours of marinade and different parts of the beef as choices. There are different sides (ranging from salad to rice dish) to order for the buffet set as well.

I would say the experiences of dining at Wagyu One were pretty satisfying. The tablet given to order dishes with the buffet set makes the whole dining experience hassle-free too (:

I uesd to go there very often like weekly and always spend about 120$-150$ for 2 ppl every time. But last 3 times very dissapoint us.
1st...we ask for spicy miso sauce same as usual but a staff she said they dont have it so we just think may be ask other staff and YES!! Another waitress can get it for us. How come???
2nd...we ask for spicy miso sauce again as usual but the waitress said they dont have the sauce and make annoying face and pretend to not look to us.
3rd...this time is last time we go again and think that they gonna improve service but not. This time we go for buffet 85$ per person. We order slice ox tongue and other meat. 2-3 rounds were very good but after that they start giving us shit meats and super tough ox tongues. Do you think we dont know about changing quality of meat?
After that we decided not to go back forever!!!
And they are trying to show how they are responsible by asking my email to directly talk but never send any email to us at all.

The wagyu katsu here was amazing! I couldn't find anywhere else in Melbourne that did it, so when I saw the menu displayed on their window, I went straight in. But the highlight for me was the service. The staff were attentive and caring. Thanks so much for a great experience :)

Tried their AYCE for dinner for the first time and it was really good! Who can say no to AYCE wagyu?! Right?! Service was great. All staff were friendly and attentive. They made sure to always grab all empty plates as they walk past our table. Food came out pretty fast too. All wagyu items on the menu tasted amazing - just make sure you don't overcook your meat! Overall, had a great experience here. Will definitely be back again.

Came in lunch time to tried their lunch menu. Grilled eel with rice- very good tender fish and its grilled and smothered with the sauce. It’s sooooo delicious.
Wagyu steak Jyubako- meat was soft, tender and have some pleasant flavours the more you chewed.
The RICE in the bowl is to die for.
Very quiet environment in lunch time. Will definitely come back.

This restaurant is one of my top favourite places to go eat in Melbourne not only price is fair but food quality is pretty good. I took the folks here to get there first taste of Japanese bbq and they had fun as expected. There wagyu dish set is what I normally order and a few sides. A must is the tap beers they offer nice and crisp
AshGav
Ee had the 85 dollars all you can eat. The meat was so tender. Nothing beats the smell and taste of grilled meat in the winter. Don,t forget the red bean ice-cream. The best!!

Went for a farewell lunch for a friend today. Three of us ordered Wagyu premium set , a couple of other meat plates for BBQ and a rice dish to share . Nothing stands out at all.
Dr Lin
Great service! Great food! Price is pretty good as well for the quality of food. would definitely visit again. the wagyu with rice were probably the best and the macha beer.
