I have been going to Maria's for over 15 years now. We would visit every time we visited Melbourne as kids and now that I live here I am still a huge fan. I've never had a bad experience from the food to the service. Maria and Theresa make you feel like family when you walk through the door. I would highly recommend the Spaghetti Taormina or Puttanesca! Beautiful and generous servings made with love!

We were a group of 10 people sharing pasta, so I got to try 9 types. They were all great, with definite taste and good selection of sauces from different Italian regions. Lovely staff, felt very welcome.
Walked in and the staff were very friendly and welcoming, food was served within a good time period. My partner and I enjoyed our dishes together, definitely recommend going here especially if you like Italian food. Family orientated and the vibe was good#pasta#italian#yum
This place is great. Old world Italian charm and traditional food. My usual is the Pollo Funghi. Tasty, simple and generous amount and not overloaded with oil. Service is friendly and we are treated like old friends when we visit.
Today I went to Maria's Trattoria and ordered the Penne Amatriciana. From the perspective of a pasta and Italian food lover it was heavenly. I enjoyed the tinge of spice from the peppers that were added into this and that the temperature of the pasta was hot when it arrived at my table. Many times I have tried pasta from other places and it tastes gross when the pasta is just warm, but not at Maria's Trattoria. Service was also great. If i wanted something they brought it right away. For this form of customer service I believe they truly deserve a full score 5.0 .
Good food, from entrees through to mains & dessert. The decor hasn't been touched since the 80's, and menu isn't overly complicated- but that's not why you come to Maria's. The food is generously portioned, and tasty to boot. Sometimes the service is a little thin, but the prices are reasonable, and there's a reason it's a local favourite.
We've been back 3 times in the past 1.5 months so you know how much we like this place :)
Tasty food, generous serving (I always have pasta dish and can only handle entree size), reasonable price. I've tried Pumpkin Ravioli, Ravioli Bolognese and Lasagne which my bf loves it here though he's such a fussy eater.
In our last visit, Lasagne wasn't as good as used to be as the bolognese sauce was a somehow thin but other occasions we weren't disappointed so we will be coming back.

The Swine is in loves wiff a girl named Maria!! She is very niice, funny and cooksa the good pesketti. Yes the Swine travelled all the way to North Melbourne to devour a quality Italian lunch at Maria's Trattoria. This is a true Italian experience down to the pinch on the cheeks and chase around the restaurant with a big spoon! Ouch! The decour is authentic old school Italiano and very cool. The Swine is toying with being a pig pesca-pescatorian. This is a big fat pig of a man who only eats "seafood - which only eats seafood"! It made sense that The Swine ordered Spaghetti Pescarore' today - that's commitment. Ooooh la la Maria, it was a big generous serve!! ...with lotsa Seafood!! ...and tasted delish. Quality! The Swine and co were first in at Maria's Trattoria today. Staff here are lovely - and great for a giggle. The Swine wants to share that the secret password for an extra large serve is "Strooonzo!". Thank you to the girls at Maria's for treating the Swine and Squad today. All meals went down well - the hospitality and cheer was fantastic. We all left big in the guts!! Dats Amore! ...Only complaint - no Tirimisu today!! How Darrre You!!?
Maria's Trattoria serve authentic, humble and generous Italian food. Visited this restaurant on Friday evening when there were not many customers yet, ordered its bruschetta, penne trattoria and fettucine pesto. They were simple but fantastic in taste and generously served. Finished up our dining with the sticky date pudding which was also fabulous, it's moist and again generously sliced! Would love to pay a second visit in near future
