Review Oscar's Table - Melbourne

David Atkinson
The experience overall was awesome. We’d barely had time to get comfortable before our entree was at the table. Service was so quick. I assume following a pre-paid set menu assisted with the speed of service. The only thing that did catch us off guard was the price of soft drinks.

Well.. the first time I came here was quite a great experience. This time I bought a Groupon voucher only found out that the quality wasn't that good.. The steak was too dry and old. The dessert is not bad, but I would suggest they should put some more effort on the decoration..
Colin Mountney
Poor service and average food. We waited a good 40 mins or so after our entrees were served before our mains arrived. The food was ok, but nothing special.
Lynden Moore
Food was delicious! We were in time for the special which was great value. The Passion Baby cocktail was amazing. The service was also fantastic, they were very attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Not popular. Food quite OK, but not outstanding in a highly competitive market. Easy to get a table.

Had a wonderful time at Oscars table with our lilone. Used a Groupon voucher and everything was pretty smooth. Booked online this mrng for an evng table, received well on time, served with a smile and of course FOOD was awesome. The interior lights dazzled with Oscar Wilde's book pages.... Good job fellas!!!

Great meal, fantastic live music on a Friday night. Probably some of the best Tapas I’ve had in Australia. Service was attentive and food was on point. Highly recommend the Oscars Churasco.

Customer service was not so good but food was pretty good 👍👍👍

Having been to Oscars Table a few times l have always found the staff very customer service oriented and ready to serve. The friendliness of the staff enhances the visit and the food is first class and always fresh and plenty of it that satisfies a big hunger. I can only give Oscars Table the highest rating as an honest review because my experiences have all been first class.

The food was nice, steak was nice - cooked as requested although the meat was slightly on the fatty side. The chips were generous but over salted. We arrived at the restaurant at around 8.30pm and had planned on a meal and dessert, but instead of being given a dessert menu after our meal was eaten, we were made to feel like we should leave as the staff cleared the table, then stood around at the register, watching us as if they were waiting for us to go. No asking if we were wanting more food, and no offer of another drink. I was also concerned at the lack of attention to a puddle of bright pink, spilled drink near our table which was a bit of a hazard... Overall the pricing was average, wine's were nothing special, the decor was basic and the service was seriously lacking. If nothing else is open, and you are nearby, then Oscar's is fine, however I wouldn't drive more than 5 minutes to go there.

Sensational food, steak was scrumptious and seafood pasta lovely...not to mention the best sticky date pudding I've ever tasted. Totally recommend. Great espresso martini too. We loved it and will definately be back 👍✅

Food was first class, friendly staff, excellent service and reasonably priced - Definitely would recommend Oscars Table. I had Braised Beef Ribs, friend had Seafood Paella and both had Lime & Ginger Brulee for dessert. Could not fault any of it. Will certainly be visiting again.

This place has been going for about two years now on a regular basis! Karkey & his wife run this business beautifully with their head chef BK! Great relaxing venue with exquisite food! Drop in for a relaxing drink after work & be pampered with exceptional service! Five stars 🌟 plus!

Took my hubby out for his birthday dinner with family on a Groupon deal. The food is good & generous for a deal option. That's the extent of a pleasant experience. Manager rarely smiled, very unwelcoming. Staff seemed rushed & frantic but friendly. I booked weeks ago and still had to wait 20 mins for a table. When a table was ready, we had to seat ourselves after the manager pointed to the back of the restaurant. Waited 15min, had to get the attention of staff just to get menus & water for the table. Water never came until we asked a fourth time. It was busy but all attention often focused on one large group that seemed to know the manager. Another 15mins and I waved for Manager to take our order. He seemed uninterested & impatient when taking our order. Can't fault the food service, the gumbo & churros was awesome. At the end, we waited at the manned till & was ignored. Then a senior staff said the system was slow & to just pay the money. The only time that the Manager smiled was when we paid. I would normally go back for good food but the poor service has put me off completely.

What a nightmare of a place, okay fair enough it’s Monday and a public holiday with a concert on nearby I get it your busy, but oh my goodness your staff waiting on the outside tables is a nightmare! He told us it was a 5 mins wait 10 mins later still waiting two more mins he tells us which turns into an other 10 we finally sit down then he refuses to take food order blames it on the kitchen staff he’s response was “the kitchen can’t handle al the orders” well now that’s a little concerning. So we order drinks yet the table who orders after us get their drinks before us.. there slow rude service seems to have impacted the whole restaurant as there are multiple guests are complaining

Worst customer experience! Wouldn’t eat here again nor recommend oscars table We had to go up to the bar to order our food as there was no table service!!

Took a little longer to be sitted. The food was good and so was the duo that was playing music. I really enjoyed their version of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal. The service and the staff was good. Enjoyed the evening.

Celebrated New Year. The food was great. Didn't mind the wait, having too good a time 🕺 and the DJ was great. Good view of the fireworks. The staff friendly and accomodating. Met great people. 🍷🎉💥🎼🕺😂🍴

Great food, great service, a good variety of food and every course was delicious, this is my second time here and will definitely be back!

We booked for 8 people Xmas day and had to wait at the bar because they double booked our table, food was processed turkey & ham roll, no potatoes, no pumpkin , a few beans and half a Brussels sprout, Xmas pudding was stodgy and had no fruit iin it whatsoever, the tasting board came out on bread and butter plates, disappointing day and waste of money.

I and my friend saw this restaurant in Groupon and we decided to give it a try. Overall, it was a very value deal for us and good had a good time as well.
The food was great in general, but there were still some items i think it could be better. Firstly, the entree was a good start but with little season it would better. For the steak my friend had, the steak was tender and well-season but the chips were too soft for us. With the seafood paella, i have to give a my compliment to the chef, well done. Lastly, the dessert was good but the pudding was very hard on the bottom.
The place looks cozy and suitable for a date or just a meeting with friends. good customer service but we feel it was not very attentive.
RGAnders
Came here on a Friday nite with the groupon voucher for 2, had a very warm welcome from the staff, very fast service, friendly and attentive. Have to say it was one of the best deals we have ever had. The entree had a good variety, my favourite was the calamari and the fried chicken! Had the paela as a main and the spices and taste was spot on. So satisfiying. The desert was sticky date pudding and churros with ice cream and chocolate. Wow what an amazing dinner and I forgot to mention you get house red / white wine too! Such a great atmosphere. Very pleased customer

My wife and I dined with 2 other couples at Oscar's on a weekday evening using coupons. The vouchers were excellent value and only had limited constraints on what we could choose from the menu. We were very happy with every dish we ordered. The service was good. Everything combined for a very pleasant dinner.

Used a Cudo voucher for this restaurant on a Saturday night. Entree was good. I chose the paella based on reviews by others. I was disappointed that it was too salty and the seafood was small. I would never pay full price for this main. My friend ordered the steak and I agree with other reviewers that it was a small piece, not worth paying full price. We waited 30 mins before the desserts came out. The chorus were dense. The panna cotta was acceptable. Probably wouldn't come here again.

Came here using a groupon voucher and would like to say this was great value for money! Entrees were very satisfying. The paella was the standout meal for me; flavours were spot on. The waterfront view made the ambience divine.
Foodme.
Ordered a steak and asked if I could have the side of chips changed to a salad and was told “NO”
Wouldn’t bother coming back. Service was extremely pathetic they could at least look interested in having to do their job.

Used a groupon voucher. Great value for money. The food was excellent and ample. Starting with an entree platter for 2 made up of calamari, arancini, meatballs, chicken wings and garlic bread. Followed by our choice of mains. We both had the seafood paella. Ample portion and tasty. Dessert was a churro each with a small pudding and one scoop of icecream. That could have been a tad larger but overall a fullsome and very good quality meal. The location on the harbor at Docklands creates a welcome ambience. I would certainly go again.

We have been to Oscar's Table a few times now and have all in all enjoyed the experience. The service has been warm and friendly although can be a little slow on the busier nights. The menu has good variety and the food is flavorsome. The peri-peri wings, nachos, pork belly and calamari we have had as starters were great and really tasty. The gumbo was also nice but a little on the small side for a main and the Salmon whilst tasty sadly was overcooked. The restaurant is comfortable and very relaxing to sit in and the drinks menu is reasonable. This is a nice place for a relaxing, tasty meal with good company.
Luciana Lanza
We had a Groupon and were not expecting too much but we really enjoyed our meal.
Really good calamari, corn fritters, steak, and paella. We would definitely recommend as a great Spanish restaurant and will go back.
Lily Kelcey
Absolutely delicious food, service not so amazing but I can look past that 😅

Entrees:
Pork belly - great flavour, slow cooked, didn’t have a crispy top but that didn’t really matter
Calamari - tasty & tender

Mains:
Seafood pasta - the seafood was cooked to perfection, the lasagna al dente and the chipotle garlic sauce was delicious! Would definitely go back for this main
Shanks - shank was slow cooked and tasty but rice and sauce were pretty average

Dessert:
Mango pannacotta - great texture & really good flavour, shame they’re so small
Sticky date pudding - delicious! Again shame the portions are so small

My wife and I came here with the three-course dinner Groupon voucher.
The place is lovely and service is friendly and helpful. We started with the Nachos and Lamb meatballs. These were absolutely delicious and we were excited for the main. However, these were not very good. We had the grilled salmon and scotch steak with fries. I expected the salmon to have crispy skin and it was soggy, and the salmon itself was slightly overcooked. The potato mash was dry. In regards to the steak, it was cooked properly, however the cut is a really cheap cut and the dish itself is not worth $32 in my opinion. It is literally a bar dish that doesn't even come with a sauce to mix everything together. I'm glad I came with the Groupon because I wouldn't pay the hole price for that dish.
At least the deserts were delicious. We ordered the mango pannacotta and the sticky date pudding. Both of them absolutely amazing. Overall, I would recommend this place but do not order the steak, for what I saw, the paella looked pretty good and I wish I had ordered that instead. I believe it is a bit overpriced for what they offer. But if you have the Groupon, definitely have a try!
Elletee
Great meal with attentive service. I had a delicious pork belly - not crispy - but the spices made it special and it melted in my mouth. For mains I had fajita’s and again delicious. Dessert was sticky date pudding. Yum.
Jules
It was dissapointing.Entrees were great but then everything else -main courses and desserts were very dissappointing.i dont like being negative but they were.we had the so called beef rib.it was full of fat.the chicken fatijas was the best main course out of the 4.the seafood gumbo had very little seafood and the steak was a very cheap cut .the chirros were not chirros-not sure what they were and the sticky date pudding was not cooked.the wine was watered down.we ate coz we were hungry otherwise we would have left without paying.coz we had a voucher and paid for it. We stayed and ate it .i wouldnt go there to pay full price if thats the best they can do to promote the restaurant.

-------- --------
This is a very quaint restaurant which features south american influenced food. Tuesday they have a special tacos night. Drinks menu is extensive. Dessert menu wraps up the meal. Definitely worth going to to enjoy a meal.

Had a delightful evening at Oscar's Table with my sister. Among us we ordered corn and zucchini fritters and salt and pepper fried calamari strips for entree, braised lamb shank and seafood paella for mains, and mango pannacotta and lime & ginger brulee for desserts. This is our second time dining here and I can say that the food is consistently good and the staff are friendly and attentive. The restaurant is ideal for group gatherings where you can have quality conversations with your friends without needing to raise your voice or strain your ears over the noise. The restaurant may benefit from clearer signage because the front entrance is rather inconspicuous (we had some difficulty finding the restaurant initially).

(Disclaimer: I used a Groupon for this)

It was a two course set lunch for two people. For starters, we ordered the calamari and the lamb meat balls. Both the dishes were really good and delicious. And then it went downhill from there. For mains, we had a crispy skin salmon and the ribs. Crispy skin salmon was not crispy at all, in fact the skinside was facing down on the dry mash potatoes and the meat was overcooked. The pea mash was dry and lumpy. The ribs were not that great and the meat was not falling off the bone. Overall I would say for the price I paid for the Groupon, it was worth it but I don't think I would be coming back. Service was also slow. It was such a shame we started off on such a high note, and ended up feeling disappointed.

Rocked up on “Taco Tuesday” with a Groupon voucher. The Groupon is a good deal full stop—entree, main, dessert and wine each. However, this is the 4th time we’ve been here and the food is really mediocre. $6 margaritas were awesome! We would think twice before visiting again just because food quality (fatty & oily flavour-starved fajitas), cheap expensive steak, etc.) patatas bravado are decent.
Elfifie1wen
Probably the best Groupon deal I've ever come across because the food is seriously amazing here! Be sure to try their seafood paella - flavourful paella cooked to perfection, it's really good. I love the sticky date pudding with caramel ice cream too. Friendly and attentive service staff too. Thank you Oscar's Table for the wonderful dining experience!

Experience based on a Groupon dinner we received as a gift. Staff were pleasant and attentive, food was absolutely delish. We were lucky enough to be seated with a lovely view of the waterside. The extras we ordered were a little pricey but worth it!
Lovely Lynda
Food was amazing!! Could not fault the quality of the meal and service was excellent. We will be back with friends. Lovely people. The churros and lime brûlée was perfect. Calamari and pork belly were delicious. Salmon and steak were cooked exactly as we would like them. Perfect meal!!
Shreeya Kapil
They have THE BEST Sticky Date Pudding! Pause whatever you’re double and go get one now! ❤️😍
Also, Fajitas! 🤤 Ten on ten for the location and ambience.
Adam's Rib
Had a really good meal here. Entrée of Perri Perri Chicken Wings was yum and I went for a simple Scotch Fillet steak, beautifully cooked. Would go back and try something else for sure. Highly recommended. My wife loved it! Wait staff could smile and be a bit more engaging though that's all.

We came here with a Groupon voucher. Initially we emailed to book, but received no response. I then called twice and left messages asking if our booking was ok, but again-no response...so we rocked up and hoped it was ok. Thankfully our booking was listed. Despite this serious lack of communication Oscars Table delivered quality food served in a timely manner.
The wait staff were efficient but not friendly in the least. Another downfall on their behalf, but the food and view pushed them to a 4/5. If they improved their communication and the staff were friendly and engaging this place could be 5/5. Now onto the food:
We ordered roasted pork belly and peri peri chicken wings for entree. Both were delicious! For mains we had Mexican seafood gumbo & chargrilled scotch fillet steak - wow. Great flavours, perfectly cooked with good sized servings. The gumbo was soooooo delicious although not a large serving which was fine for me when our voucher was for a three course meal and I cannot eat three courses usually anyway. So into desert...hubby had cinnamon dusted churros whilst I had the sticky date pudding. More deliciousness!

Despite the booking hiccups and non engaging staff - I thank you Oscars Table for delivering a quality meal at an affordable price. Highly recommended!
Betty
Absolutely fantastic. We had chicken wings & calamari, steak & seafood gumbo, churros & warm pudding with ice cream. We were especially impressed by the chicken wings and churros. Food was delicious, good looking and served generously. Staff were friendly and the view was gorgeous. Will definitely recommend it to my friends.

Went for dinner at Oscars Table in Docklands using Groupon voucher. We were greeted at directed to our table. We have Corn & Zucchini Fritters and Salt & Pepper Calamari for entrée, Chicken & Chorizo Paella and Grilled Salmon for mains and Sticky Date Pudding and Mango Pannacotta for dessert. Service was quick and food was delicious. Definitely worth the money spent using Groupon.
Sal
Ordered a seafood paella and charred corn via deliveroo. The seafood paella 's rice is raw, hasnt even been cooked through properly, grains are still hard. Serving is extremely small and doesnt taste good. Will definitely wont come back.
Kath's Food Indulgences
Entree: Quesedilla, Pork Belly
Main: paella, seafood linguini
Dessert: crane brulee, sticky date pudding

Came here using a Groupon voucher. The quality of food is good, though I probably would look elsewhere in the city for dishes of similar price. I found the sizing to be a bit small, but since we had 3 courses and a drink, we were highly satisfied in the end!

I love the spanish tapas concept to I decided to give this place a go. We started with a glass of sangria each, which was really nice. From there we went to the tapas: pork belly, lamb meat balls, calamari, veggie stack, ham and cheese croquettes and chicken wings. The only one I really enjoyed were the chicken wings. The other ones were not bad, but pretty average and not warm enough. Then we shared a serve of paella, which was nice but a bit bland. To finish off we had churros for dessert - big serve and good taste as well! Regarding ambiance I thought the place lacked a bit of personality, I mean there is so much you can do when you think of a spanish/latin place. Another turn off for me was the service: even though it was quick, it was not very welcoming. It felt the staff were all depressed and the whole thing was a chore for them. At any point we were asked how everything was going. People in hospitality really have to start realizing that good service is a given these days, with so much competition and so many great places to go to, especially in Melbourne.

We had dinner here tonight using a Groupon voucher and it was definitely worth the discounted price for a three course meal. The staff were friendly and the service was very good.

Food: 4/5 the food was well cooked and seasoned
Service: 1/5 Wasn't greeted when entering unprofessional hospitality from both the female staff and bar manager. Went to the bathroom and saw the cook wash his hands and dried it on his pants (hand dryer was functioning, no paper towel was stocked wasn't wearing an apron) was very put off by that since he was the one managing the food.
Look/feel: 4/5 Well maintained, a neat and casual vibe.

We had a table of 6 and purchased the Groupon vouchers. Food was amazing and great value for money. The only downfall was the service was a little slow... which when you like a drink isn't great!
Bistou
I would highly recommend Oscar's Table for the food quality only. Sadly, the service is poor from the moment you enter the restaurant. While my wife and I were having diner, the owner or restaurant manager had a meeting with his floor staffs to discuss operational issues in the dining room! We could hear the whole conversation! It's common in any business to have operational or managerial issues, however, these shouldn't be discussed in the presence of customers. While this meeting was held, we witnessed customers walk out as they were not attended to. I sincerely hope that this issue is resolved quickly, as the food and mojito are too good to be tarnished by poor management.

Not sure why all the negative reviews but we had a fantastic time here. I was skeptical at first, aside from staff needing some prompting at times everything turned out great. The ambiance; dim lighting with waterfront view was perfect for a midweek unwinding accompanied by delicious food.

We loved all of our 3 course as the serving size is adequate, served promptly and fresh, and looks amazing. The chicken wings was slightly crispy with a mild spice flavor. Calamari was cooked right and crispy. Steak was on point balanced by creamy and flavourful mushroom sauce. Paella was tasty without us needing to put any extra condiments and had the right balance of seafood. Lastly we finished off with great desserts especiallg the sticky date pudding that was warm, fluffy, and moist.
Peter Koh
Great food and service, top dishes served with class and elegance, price is good too, the lamb meatballs are delicious and tender, the steak just right and calamari was crispy and fresh. Service was great and friendly. Will sure to come back and try to organise a outdoor event there as they have a great area for outdoor dining in summer.
Kayla Louise
Fast service, cool ambience & big servings.
Nicely located on the pier of the Docklands dock.
Staff seemed a bit flustered at times but were friendly.

Had dinner with friends, 8 of us. Entree average nothing like on the photos of their website. For main meal we all had the steak served with French fries no gravy!!!, and again nothing like on the photos on their website. Worse than a pub meal, please see the photo below, and "lucky" with the Groupon" voucher we spent $65, Without the voucher we would have paid double. None of us finished the steak. We all ordered medium rare. It was chewy, unevenly cooked, horrible taste in the mouth and as soon as putting it in the mouth we had to spit it out. The middle part was completely raw unedible not seasoned well steak. For desert we chose lime cream brulee, disappointed again with the grainy texture , chocolate ice cream was nice. If we read an honest review before we would have never ever booked this place!
The Gastronaut
Went here on a Wednesday - wasn't that busy initially but it picked up momentum after 7pm. We used a Groupon Deal of 1 Starter + 1 Main + 1 Dessert + 1 Drink.

Food:
We ordered a Nachos, Lamb meatballs, chicken wings, and pork belly for Starters. The crisps in Nachos were a bit thick but the meat added a good flavour. Lamb meatballs were terrific - must try. Pork Belly was a hit too. Chicken Wings were ok.

For Mains we ordered Steak, Salmon and Lamb Shanks. All were amazing! Especially the Salmon and Lamb Shanks. They charged extra for pepper sauce (for Steak), but it was worth it.

For Dessert, we ordered Lime Brulee, Sticky date pudding, and Lychee Pannacotta. All hit the right spot! If I have to choose a favourite, I would go with Brulee.

Service:
The staff was friendly and helpful. But it seemed like they were new to the job. Not a big deal, because they did a fine job. However, I must mention that the food took some time to arrive - it wasn't a super fast service. But I guess its worth the wait.

Ambience:
We sat outside because the weather was good. The interior, however, was decent. The seats were comfortable, and the decor was simple. They have a bar too, which looks like a cool concept.

Overall Verdict - Would definitely go back to try more dishes. But I think I will try out their $30 deal, which sounds pretty reasonable.

Been here on 19th April for Dinner after buying a groupon for 4 people. Loved the food and great service and friendly staff, had a chat with the owner who was super friendly. Recommended to my friends and I am visiting again next month. Thank you guys for great food and service. James

5 us were there on Sunday night decided to choose early bird special. Some of us had pork belly for first it was cold and not crispy at all. We all had steak looked like nice steak. The fat was not cooked off at all could not eat most of it . Best part of it was the glass of wine. The beer had obviously been chilled and re chilled . So bad the boys only had one . Sticky date pudding was great. The service was good . The kitchen was not .

Great food! Quick service....ohhh those chicken wings- delicious!! Steak was cooked perfectly- Friendly staff, great wine- we will be back! We were very impressed! And a great location

We went to dinner with another couple on a Saturday night - the restaurant was quite full - the food was really nice - we had the shared platter for an entree, the calamari salad and the beef tacos - tasted really nice. For main meals we had the seafood paella, steak and mexican gumbo. The gumbo was a bit too salty but all the other meals were fabulous. Desserts sticky date pudding and mixed berries with icecream - perfect. But the service could be improved as the waiters were a bit slow and/or had no knowledge of the drinks or the menu. Nice atmosphere
Sallysfoodadventures
Chicken tacos are delicious. It might only be 3 but there's lots of filling in it, portion is a really good size. Manager there is super friendly, staff are lovely. Nice and quiet little spot for after work dinner.
Laura
Very underwhelmed. We were seated and then waited 25 minutes for our order to be taken (restaurant is not at all busy, considering it's a Saturday night). The table next to us were seated after we places our order. They received their order 15 minutes before us and after 45 minutes our meals (all entrees) finally arrived. The water we asked for when we were seated still had not arrived. When our food arrived, we were served 9 oysters, rather than the dozen we ordered, with the excuse of the table next to us ordered first so they got 12 and there were only 9 left. What restaurant advertises oysters out the front, and then sells out before 8pm on a Saturday night. Not good enough. If I wanted 9 oysters, I would have ordered 9 oysters. Food was very average. Deep fried calamari that tasted like it was from the freezer and nachos that I would rather forget. Wait staff friendly but service very slow. Won't be back.

Amazing place my family and I went there 2 time already the food was amazing love the food wonderful service. Lovely people. Can't wait to go back again ❤❤❤❤

Used a Groupon deal, I was impressed the food was amazing for that price. They had delicious starters which you shared with one other, your own main dish. My husband had the steak and he was very happy I had the paella also delicious. Also had a desert and a glass of wine or beer absolutely brilliant value. Service was friendly and you did not have to wait long for your food. Beautiful modern restaurant in Docklands. Absolutely recommend and will go again. If you do not have a deal, The menu is very reasonably priced anyway. 👍

We came here on a Living Social Voucher, I must say I was very impressed at the calibre of this place, the service was fantastic, the food was great, we ordered the pork belly and chicken wings as an entire, the beef skewers and the seafood paella as mains, the churros with with white/ chocolate dips and mixed berries with ice cream, with a glass of wine each, We will definitely come back, great feed thank you

Terrible service!!! I bought groupon deal. Had bad experience since I called in to book the table. The guy who answered the phone was very rude. It's like he hates doing that job. Anyway I had to reschedule the time so I called in second time. The same guy answered the call. Rude as usual. And he said can you not change the time again. I was like what the hell? Unfortunately I had to change the time again. The guy was damn unhappy. He hung up the phone right after I said 7.30pm. I was like what the bloody hell just happened??? I called the guy again said would please confirm if you have booked me in at 7.30pm? He goes yea i got you. 7.30. We are busy. Can you not call back? Then hung up. Tonight we arrived at 7.30. The guy checked the booking list said you booked at 6pm. All unhappiness in me flooded out. I said i booked for 7.30pm and I called 3 times! Finally we sit down. Had entrée. But we wait almost an hour for the main. The staff were not looking after the customers and they are understaffed. The poor couple sit next to us wait an hour more for the entrée. What a bad customer service over there!!! I would not go back for sure. Btw the food is quite average. Not recommended.

Saw a deal on cudo and decided to have our office diner there .. big disappointment..i was so embarrassed in front of the whole office crew. The service was very bad. We waited 25 mins to get a menu though 1 of us got up 3 times to ask to be served. Orders were taken wrong. I think at least 10 times we asked for the waiter to come andd take our orders and enquired about our food. It was cold we were seated outside when asked about the hearer the staff and management did not bother to fix. After nearly 2 hours we all got up to leave. The manager got us to stay promising the food would be out in 5 mins.. it still took 20 mins. We couldnt enjoy the food though it was good as the entree mains and dessert one after the other and our time together as well as a group as evryone was wasted as we were already so angry and upset. One of my worst experience in a restaurant . Being a voucher reservation i expected more attention as i am a typical loyal food.addict i tend to stick to places i like.. I use deal only to try new places . . The worst thing was 4 tables with people who came after us got served first when our drinks were not even on our table !!!!

Went with a large group for dinner excellent service everyone enjoyed Their food I had the seafood gumbo was so fresh and delicious really great to experience this type of quality thank you keep up the great work

We came for a quick mid week dinner , good range of entrees and mains , all reasonably priced. We tried the prawns followed by the Seafood Paella. Save space for the desserts ...Passionfruit Panna Cotta was great.
AQC
People here had no passion of what they were serving. Dish size were very small so the average person should have all three course to be full. Quite expensive for what you pay for. Food was on the salty side, nothing overly impressive.
Salena.ashleyy
My sincere request to whoever is reading this. Do not go to this place. You will be disappointed in so many ways. Especially the way you are treated.
Simon
Nice food ! unfortunately poor customer services , no one allocated seats for customers, we waited more than 45 mins even we booked a table. All waiters and waitresses did their best to support the restaurant, i believe the manager just too busy served customers without managed the overall restaurant situation. Whole team were flat out whole night , i wish they employ more staffs in the restaurant and improve their service
Annie Haak
Went for dinner here on Wednesday night - they had a 5pm-7pm special for entrée and main for $30 dollars. We shared the oscars platter - it was beautifully cooked, the chicken wings were a bit too spicy for my taste but still delicious.

We ordered the paellas and steak - lovely flavours and good portions. I probably wouldnt go back unless there were specials as its quick pricey normally. Definitely would go back.

A $49 Groupon, 3 courses for 2 with wine. Heaps of food, I rolled out of there. Steak was cooked well. Entree was nice. Had the mixed berrys with ice cream for dessert, an array of berries!

A fine dinning restaurant with rude and arrogant attitude.

We bought a voucher online for our visit.

This is our second visit to Oscar table and they still left us disappointed. For our first visit, the restaurant was full. We waited for the total of 2h30 for the entire meal and yet, they brought out the wrong food for me. Dessert and entre was good but main dish was no where near. I ordered salmon but got barramundi, and one of the waiter came to tell us that they ran out of salmon. Couldn't you just approach and tell us that you run out of salmon and whether I would like to order something else. Such disreapect!

For our second visit (7/06) that's our anniversary and we decided to give Oscar table a second chance. This time the restaurant was quiet and the menu has changed. Service was alright but head waiter (maybe owner) was rude. We got the Oscar platter to share which was good but the ribs on the platter was cold (my 1 star rating is the starter and the starter only). For main, we got the braised beef rib and seafood gumbo. Beef rib was a bit sweet and luke warm, smash potatos still got chunks in them, the plate was cool, the only thing that is hot in that plate is the ramekin of BBQ sauce. The beef rib tasted good. But the gumbo is the thing to talk about. Seafood was bland and taste fishy, which mean it was not fresh, broth was not season and the use of spice was not bold enough (thats how a gumbo should be). Dessert were even a bigger disappointment. We ordered Créme Brulee with Pitassio Ice-cream and Mango and Coconut Soufflé. Créme Brulee still got bits of cooked egg white in it which could be easily fix by sift the custard mixture. This simply prove that the chef does mot care about FINE DINNING STANDARD. Pitassio ice-cream was simply vanilla ice-cream with a little bit of pitassio crumbs. There is nothing to talk about the SOUFFLÉ. WHY? Simply because they got me Panna Cotta not SOUFFLÉ. When the owner bring the dish out, I tall him that I ordered the Soufflé and she was a bit surprised as if he realized that the kitchen made the wrong thing. He put the dish down and simply walk away. I called the waiter over and tell her that this is not a soufflé. The response I got back was shocking. She said this is the soufflé and paused instantly. Then she said. It taste like mango and coconit when you eat it. I simply let her walk away because I did not want to argue. Oscar Table, do not treat your customer like idiots and as if they know nothing about food. We brought vouchers for our visits does not mean you can give us low standard food. What a shame and disrespect, again!

Updated: the seafood gumbo is to be avoid. Other things are constantly nice. The shared platter is very generous and delicious.

Bought the voucher from living social. Friday night here, lots of customers.

Food is generally good. Pork ribs in the platter and seafood pallea and beef ribs are really nice!
Service: waitress is really friendly, but the manager appears as impatient and not that approachable all time!

Tried this place, service was good, very nice but a little slow. Had the chicken burritos, seafood paella and kids spaghetti. My paella was perfect, could not fault it at all was a very nice dish, husband had burrito and while it was very nice, only a tiny dish of guacamole was given and it was nowhere near enough! What really let them down was the kids meal... Came out just after ours and wasn't served with any cheese (had to ask for some) the meat tasted old and like it had been frozen. We also ordered churros for dessert and they were really good, like churros should be! Overall a good night out, they lacked that attention to detail which lets them down overall. Good but not great.

really enjoyed the food we had oscars platter to start was very tasty and just the right amount. we had sea food pealla and beef churrasco with a side of garlic bread both dishes were very tasty and well cooked. the staff were very friendly all in all a very good relaxing experience we will be back again.

The food was ok but in terms of the service, This place was a disaster! The waiters don't really care about the patrons. Prepare to be ignored and if ur sitting at the outside tables, prepare to be walking in and out of the restaurant to place any orders. Again the food was ok but in terms of service it's bad. I certainly won't be back.

Booked in for newt years eve. Service was none existing, restaurant was well under staffed and completely over booked. Took over one hour for our 1st drink to arrive and almost 2 hours for our main meals to arrive. Mains finally arrived but they forgot to serve our entrees. Poor service all night, having to repeatedly ask for service. Paid for a set menu and drinks package due to New Year's Eve, spent all our time trying to get a drink.
So poorly managed and staffed for what would be their busiest night of the year.

The food here left more to be desired unfortunately. The location is quite good being right by the promenade and sitting outside on warm nights is very relaxing and comfortable. We ordered the Oscar's platter for entree, then porterhouse steak and beef churrasco for mains. The Oscar's platter had two meatballs, two tuna patties, four calamari rings and four buffalo wings. It was alright, but nothing really stood out except for the tuna patties. For a $26 entree we were expecting a tiny bit more. The porterhouse steak was a disaster and almost impossible to eat. We saw some elderly people next to us also order it and struggled to chew as well. Felt quite sorry for them. The cut was just really bad and full of tendons and fatty parts (out of the 280g probably 80g consisted of fats and tendons and only 200g was actual meat), and the steak was very overcooked when we asked for medium. This is one of the only times when we couldn't finish a piece of steak. Sorry guys, you need to lift up your game on this one. The beef churrasco on the other hand was cooked well and presented nicely, with a salad and rice by the side. I quite enjoyed this dish which made up a bit for the disastrous porterhouse. Finally the desserts - I don't know if it's just us or did the lime brulee taste like seafood?? Both of us thought it tasted a bit strange and had a "crabby" taste. The panna cotta was OK but I don't think anything can go wrong with that anyway. Hope these guys can make the necessary improvements to see their business thrive as it still has quite some potential.

Warm friendly welcome & the service was efficient. tried the calamari & prawns for entree both tasted good, salmon & paella for mains even better than entrees & sticky date & brulee for dessert topped a lovely meal. Would definately return great place with relaxed atmosphere.

We had the pleasure of dinning at Oscars Table recently and even though we'd bought a deal online the food was presented wanting us to tuck in. Oscars platter gave us a sample of all entrées. Our meals were delicious, lamb straps cooked to perfection & deserts perfect! We had more than enough to eat & the atmosphere was cosy & for all its worth I loved the jazz back ground music.

Pub food, done poorly.. Although this place looks enticing from the outside, don't be fooled. The well stocked bar, dim lighting, candles on the tables and well presented menu are all for show. It's pub food, done poorly (My apologies to some of the great pubs out there). Nacho's consisted of a bowl of pasta sauce served with cheese flavoured Doritos, real cheese was extra. Calamari and salad was all salad, no calamari. Chicken wings were served with vegetables from a frozen packet. All this, plus we had to wait two hours for our main meals. We asked to speak with the Manager, but he refused to leave the kitchen.

Do yourself a favour, go to Cargo across the road and enjoy your meal.

This should have stayed closed. The head chef personally greeted us and stated he wanted to know our critiques - good or bad - so he could continue to improve. We ordered Beef Nachos as a starter - we got a small bowl of ground beef bolognese and a small bowl of Doritos. Yes, you read that right: DORITOS. Not worth $12! My main - lamb churrasco - was overcooked and presented on a skewer dangling from a hook over my plate. Awkward! My partner's main - beef burrito - was so dry we had to request a bowl of salsa to make it palatable. One entree, two mains, and one cocktail came to $85. Definitely not worth the time or money. The nail in the coffin was when we were told the chef was "too busy" to come out and talk to us, even though there was only one other table occupied in the entire restaurant. Steer clear!
Jane
Absolutely appalling service. Utterly disappointed!

Brilliant. Never ceases to please me.
I love every bit of this place........except it closes too early.

As the great man said:

“I can’t stand people who do not take food seriously.

Had a great roast dinner today at oscars table. Roast pork with roast potatos and roasted veg couldn't complain a great roast dinner for $25- will be back another sunday for sure!

Have eaten at Oscars quite a few times and the food, service and great atmosphere keeps me coming back! Love the croquettes, tuna and son in law eggs. Service was personable and attentive. Perfect for a late lunch or dinner with friends.

Came for the ovo preshow special and was really impressed.
Great location great service and awesome vibe.
Staff were lovely and helpful.
Only regret was not getting the saginaci.
Will definitely be coming back

Disappointed. Degustation dinner for cirqu du soile was very disappointing! $50 per person was a massive rip off. You get 3 entrees, 1 main and 1 dessert to share. Food was dry and pasta was very oily. The wait staff did not understand that verergerains do not eat fish.
Only go there if you have to.
Kerrie
What a night!. Had dinner last night and what a night! Staff were welcoming and friendly and made the best cocktail to start us off! So easy to share the small plates so we could try everything and the atmosphere was fun and relaxing. Definately coming back when the weather is better to sit outside for a longer session!

Another Dockland's disappointment. Emailed in advance to confirm the Cirque du Soleil pre show degustation only to be told on the night that it was not available. The only available option on the night was a degustation menu that was $30 more expensive and did not include any drinks.

Decor of the restaurant was tacky at best, and the music was unsuitable for a "romantic" Valentine's Day venue. Service was reasonably prompt however the behaviour of the waiting staff was somewhat.. odd.

The food itself was below average regardless of price. The first "course" was a smearing of pumpkin puree with crab and caviar, the result been a fishy taste with no other flavours. The son-in-law eggs were passable, although the fried leeks accompanying the dish were reminiscent of straw in texture and lacked any element of taste at all. The tuna tartare was ok, the pork belly was flat and bland, and the chorizo and octopus was inappropriately accompanied with mayonnaise.

The fourth course was very out of place for a tapas/degustation restaurant. Both the rib eye with chips and grilled salmon featured a 250-300gm slab of meat that one would expect of a pub meal. The rib eye was well cooked and the chips were crisp however we were hardly anticipating a steakhouse meal given the restaurant's purported cuisine. The grilled salmon was bland and poorly cooked as were its accompaniments.

For the final dessert course we selected the flourless orange cake and dark chocolate panna cotta. The flourless orange cake was one of the few highlights of this poor meal, with a nice tangy lemon curd to accompany the decent orange cake. The dark chocolate panna cotta was less successful, while it tasted ok the panna cotta itself was lopsided as if it had not been allowed to set properly before been rushed off to be served.

Finally for a restaurant that advertises itself as a wine bar the wine list is minuscule, and the Sauv Blanc we had the displeasure of sampling was sour as vinegar.

Extremely disappointed with the whole experience and cannot recommend this restaurant at all.

The food we oder was cold. And waitress wasnt friendly as well

Maria c. I have dined here a number of time and I love the food especially the scallops, rib eye steak and burgers as the quality is very good. Definitely worth a visit.

Dined there this evening as we were in the area and used Urbanspoon. After Dimmis online booking went astray (they were fully booked out but the manager accommodated us nonetheless) we had a nice simple meal for 3 with a mix of mains and some sample plates. Saganaki was fantastic - not too salty - and tuna tataki with wasabi butter small but beautifully balanced. Salmon main tender but sauce a bit underdone and thin, although the pork robs in Vietnamese salad were lovely. Some nice sparkling by the glass and after a good coffee we were on our way. Food better than most in the area, and very happy that the manager accommodated us graciously after Dimmi's online booking error.

Don't go before a show!. Nice food, but beware of small dishes. I ordered the chicken, which was lovely, but we were not told there would be nothing else with this, so I ate a piece of chicken for dinner. Others on our table ordered the Cirque special, which began well with a good number of croquets and some interesting chilli eggs for entree, main was a small plate of meat and potatoes to share, and desert looked like a single serve but was in fact for the 2 to share! However, the most disappointing thing was that we booked for 6pm for a meal prior to attending Cirque du Soleil, ordered at 6.05pm, and only received our meals at 7.15 and had to eat quickly and rush off.... very frustrating! I understand all staff do their best, and the kitchen was probably working as fast as they could, but if you cannot service the number of people present in a timely fashion, then don't take so many bookings! I We will not be returning....
RB
Food was great but service average. They didn't know the table numbers... had food coming and going from wrong tables and people waiting ages for meals. But yummy food when it did arrive.
Catherine
Went here for NYE. Was $100 per head. Food gorgeous and excellent service.

We spent a lovely New Years Day afternoon here. Brilliant service from an Italian waiter. Wonderful food - the tasting ages were delicious. Will definitely return!

Ok, food's ok, but nothing to write home about. The service was atrocious. With so many restaurants to chose from, why go back? I wouldn't.

What an experience. We went to Oscars Table on Saturday night, the whole evening was fantastic. Not knowing the area very well we were a little unsure on where to dine. We were greeted at the door by a very enthusiastic gentleman that spent time explaining how the menu worked. Share plates work for me as I always end up with food envy.

There were so many choices that we decided to go with the chef’s selection of 5 courses. We had the most amazing pea and ham croquettes, they were crunchy on the outside and deliciously smooth and tasty on the inside, followed by the sagnaki that was served at the table in flames....literately! A very showing affair, but this didn’t take away from the amazing flavor...I’m not always a fan of sagnaki but this really worked for me, include the olive tapenade that was served with it. If that wasn’t enough, this was followed by the pork spear ribs. OUT OF THIS WORLD!! The meat fell off the bone, the sauce was amazing and the wonderful slaw that was served with it really gave it an edge (nothing like Masterfoods as mentioned in the other review!!).

The mains are served as a share style too, this was a relief as was started to feel a little full  We had a rib eye steak with trice cooked potatoes (OMG), it was cooked to perfection and was tender and juicy. By this time I was about fit to burst but everything was so delicious I didn’t care. We asked the waitress if it was ok to have a rest before our final course. She was so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble.

When we were ready, we were served the finale....chocolate pudding with pasticcio ice cream....I’ll definitely be back!!!

Oh, and I think I forgot mention the cocktails...you have to try the special lychee and gin Pimms cocktail!! One is enough otherwise you may forget the entire night ;-)

Average at best and the menu may claim it is International but I would suggest it's more likely unfocused.

It's not that the food was bad it's more that it just wasn't very good. Dips were tasty but nothing you couldn't find elsewhere. I had the pork ribs and they were cold, clearly boiled and flavorless. The glaze tasted oddly like the Masterfoods glaze I use when we have an impromptu BBQ but even then I add chilli and garlic and get more flavor.
I was with my Mum and her friend and they both had the Chicken breast. To me it looked like something from a 1981 cookbook, but they really liked it... But then they were at a lot of dinner parties around that period.
It was a quite Sunday and maybe they were having an off day, but I would not be going back.

Had the $40 a head 5 course chef surprise
From the first dish of seared tuna you could tell the chef had not lost his passion of producing great dishes
Lamb and octopus followed, best son in law eggs (take note ginger boy) and a rib eye steak then a great orangey creme brûlée
Lovely staff and whilst it didn't exactly spoil my dinner that evening I felt very happy with the food and the high quality if ingredients

A welcoming host showed us to a table on the deck in front of this uniquely decorated restaurant. Menus are presented inside a4 books, as was the bill at the end of the night. We chose three share plates. The ham cheese and pea croquettes were very moorish-a beautiful crust breaks open to reveal a creamy and rich cheese filling. Yum. The platter of dips consisted of two-obviously made on site. Unusually flavoured they were interesting with a good texture and taste. One was I think a pumpkin base and the other a cucumber dip. The last share plate was clams and chorizo-not my favourite. The clams were swimming in butter and the chorizo was cooked separately. The two ingredients really didn't gel together. And there was broken shell in the bowl. Overall, pretty good. I would need to go back for a main course or two to make any conclusions however. Good service, a comprehensive wine and beer list and interesting decor complete Oscars. Worth a try.

Oscars drove me WILD. Delighted by Docklands rare find, Oscars Table is truly a diamond in the rough.

Refurbed with flair and individuality amongst its waterfront neighbours, what a surprise....

I admit, still an unknown amongst my culinary circle of friends but word of mouth pays dividends in my books.

Food superb, tastefully presented and equally delish. The tapas menu is well worth gathering your closest friends for good conversation and a tasty feed to boot.

Coco Madamoiselle bubbles and the espresso Martinis definitely set the scene for memory lane with Sinatra playing tunes whistling in our ears.

Love love love the vibe...the crew bring flair, cant wait for their summer style and menu bu the waterfront of Melbourne's unknown secret culinary destinations.

Oscar drove me WILD..... Fathers day dinner. The food was great, service excellent, we loved the painting of Oscar. We did feel a little uncomfortable as we were only half way through our dips and calamari (which were excellent) and our mains came to the table, young waitress was very apologetic, we could hear a commotion from the kitchen and pots and pans being thrown, it was a great place but that was really off putting, such a shame!
Carla
The food is amazing! Try the seared tuna and the son in law eggs.

Great Food. I dined at Oscars Table last night and found delicious food, great hosts and a fantastic atmosphere. I had a selection of shared plates and would recommend the pork ribs with the meat falling off the bone and melting in your mouth, the chef special homemade ravioli beef ragu and for the taste and experience try the saganaki which is delivered to your table and set alight. Highly recommend and I will be back to try other dishes.

Best place for a lazy sunday lunch!. Had a wonderful lunch with friends at Oscars Table last Sunday (8th July). When you walk in, there is a warm inviting atmousphere with a fantastic solo singer playing some relaxing tunes. We wanted to graze and enjoy share plates which is what this place is famous for. Started with the croquettes which were absolutely divine! We've had them before and they are to die for! Crunchy wtih a creamy delicious centre. Then we had the pork ribs which were tender and coated in a delicious smokey souce servced with a fresh asian infused coleslaw. The boys had the lamb cutlets which also looked wonderful! We then moved onto the haloumi which was served on a sizzling hot plate and set alight with brandy - so decadent! when you cut into it it was crisp and lightly toasted with a smooth and deliciuos centre served with refreshing lemon! Then we tried the specials - beef cheek wtih a serving of smooth polenta and delicious sauce - so tender and the meat falls off the fork - just beautiful! The chicken with the leek sauce was also divine! The carrot and fetta side dish was beautifully topped with almonds and a sweet sauce which complemented the other dishes. The choclate pudding with pistachio icecream was just perfect to finish off our lunch! Service was great and best of all, the atmousphere (we sat at the bar first for a few pre-lunch drinks to enjoy the acoustic music) and then moved outside to take in the views of the harbour. Very relaxing and wonderful way to spend a sunday afternoon with delicious and sophisticated tapas! Thumbs up to Oscars Table!!!!

Must Go!. Had an amazing meal at this restaurant. Have never felt compelled to review a restaurant before but this place rocked. Service great, food amazing and ambience unbelievable. Not a great rap for Docklands but this place is a major reason to ignore the bad press and enjoy it for what it is - fantastic place on the water, easy to get to and great vibrant precinct. Even though lots of places to go this one sets itself apart from the usual average restaurant. Will be back for sure!
JB
Won't be back. Went there for Saturday breakfast and was very disappointed. Waited 30 minutes for average and small coffees. Food order was completely forgotten. By the time we got our food it was as average as the coffee. Plus we were also the only ones there! Won't be going back.

Yum!!!. I have been to Oscars Table three times over the last couple of months, once for breakfast, once for lunch & of course once for dinner. All fantastic! The food was delicious, the staff were very efficient and friendly and the prices very affordable. I will definitely be returning. If nothing else go just to see the amazing painting of Oscar Wilde the dominates the space!

Who appeared to be the owner was a delight. She went out of her way to capture a nice photo of my friends and I. The waiter on the other hand - poor service. We had to ask for water for the table. Glasses of water were not topped up without asking. Orders were not put through.
I ordered the carrots and that was delicious, I'd eat it again and again. Great textures and balance from the honey, cheese and almonds. Lamb kofte was appalling. I only ate it because I was really hungry and not a food waster. Poorly seasoned. Unbalanced.
The restaurant practically kicked us out. We were the last people in the restaurant at 10pm, they handed us our bill as we sat and enjoyed each others company. I guess they all wanted to clean up and go home?

Deliciousness on a plate. On this beautiful sunny Docklands winter's day, we finally managed to wander down to New Quay to Oscar's Table for lunch. One word: delicious! What a find this is from nice wait staff to the amazing food. We started with chorizo and prawns served on roasted red capsium (tastebuds were dancing) and we continued to love every morsel of the other dishes. To top it off with an affogatto was just magical. We took friends there and will become regulars. Do yourself a favour and go eat there.
Pete
Came here for brunch and was put off by the shocking humour of the waiter, no one needs to know about his hangover. Meals were nothing special but no refills on the water and waiting 20 minutes on coffee when not even 1/4 of restaurant is full was a lil disappointing. Wouldnt mind trying for dinner but brunch left a lot to be desired.

Oscar's Table is the best. I recently spent just over 2 weeks in Australia on vacation. The night before I left Melbourne I went to Oscar's Table for a 40th birthday party. Omg. This place is so good. The food, service, you name it. Small plates shared, so much fun. And the chicken ribs. Who knew. Yum. It was the best restaurant I went to on my trip. Thank you Oscar's Table. I will be back.
