Review Giro D'italia - Melbourne

Edwar Kartio
It was very busy and bustling on weekday nights. The place is decent size with seating inside and outside. Food are great. Pizza is thin and soft and the toppings work great! Spaghetti is al dente and the sauce got a bit of heat. We also did takeaway on other occasions but it wasn't as good as eating there. Food - 8 Service - 8 Vibe - 8 Price - $$$

Warm and welcoming services with superb food. How good was it? 4 visits in a month 🤣😍. The pastas, pizzas and desserts here were all amazing! What I enjoyed the most is the unique flavors of every dish and all flavors just hit the right note, not overpowered, just right and balance 🥰 First visit: Prawns and Clams Pasta with beautiful delicious sauce & Gnocchi with Italian Sausage Ragu both dishes were so delicious! One of the best gnocchi I have ever had! Soft, squidgy texture with savory sausage ragu 😇 We emptied both plates! This is how good they are! Tiramisu 🏆 A must order dessert! Just perfect moisture, creamy, bittersweet 🥰😋 Second visit: Prawn Pizza Again, love it! Good flavors and sourdough pizza crust! 🤩<- bread person Ravioli with flavorsome pulled meat and love the pasta texture 😋 Panna Cotta This is soooo good! Silky, milky, not overly creamy nor too sweet, just right 😍 Third visit: Calamari Fritti, batterer calamari, crisp on the outside yet extremely tender on the inside 😋 Spaghetti allo Vongole with Clams, a slightly milder flavor sauce compared to my first visit with pasta with prawns and clams but still as good! 😋 Tiramisu 😍😍 (again? of course!) Fourth visit: Pasta of the day - Ricotta Cannelloni 😍omg this was soooo good!!! Love it!! Prosciutto Pizza - again! I love their pizza crust, the texture was so addictive, I think I can eat without the topping too🤣 Best pizza, best pasta, best dessert! My go to Italian restaurant! Many more visits to come 😊 Remember to ask for pasta of the day too 😉 @explore.nonstop

Food was good. I enjoyed the pizza! My fiancé stated this is one the best pizza places he tried. It was nice as we got a little view of what Italy looks like day in and day out, they played some iconic relaxing videos. Service was good, staff was very attentive and friendly, doing frequent checks on our meal to make sure it tasted good. We had the chefs special today the Berk cheeks that was good too, pumpkin a little heavy but the sauce is delicious.

Giro d’Italia has the best gluten-free gnocchi in Melbourne! Staff are friendly and the serving sizes are generous. We sit outside for that Italian ambience you get when travelling in Italy and find a local gem.

In Melbourne for work and after a long day in the office I went to treat myself with some comfort food! I’m Italian and I was amazed for the menu selection, traditional regional dishes that I was craving for so many years! Food amazing, wine selection too and service outstanding. Highly recommended!

We went there for lunch. Love the decor, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I had the sweet potato croquettes and spaghetti allo scoglio. The croquettes was soft and fluffy. The spaghetti was a little salty but still nice. Also had a takeaway coffee and its one of the best I've had in the area.

Ordered the spaghetti in napoli sauce and absolutely loved it! I love the places which can master the basic traditional dishes and this one was truely impressive! The service was really friendly too. Much recommend!

I have dined here 3 to 4 times over past 12 months.  Last week was my first visit in several months and was a reminder of how enjoyable it is.  Food always has a freshness to it and beautifully cooked. I had a flat ribbon pasta with ragu; the pasta was perfect and ragu sauce full of flavour.  The place always has a great ambience with a good balance of background music and chatter of the dining guests; enough vibe to feel like a convivial dinner party. One of my favourite Italian restaurants in the Carlton area. Well worth the visit.

So delicious !!! <br/><br/>I have been to Giro’s three times now and each time has been faultless. With a delightful atmosphere and friendly and incredibly knowledgable staff Giro’s continuously impresses. The food has been outstanding whether we were there for an intimate dinner or for an end of year function and I cannot express how incredible the gnocchi was! Easily the best I've ever had.

Myself and a group of friends came for dinner last night and loved it. We ordered some entrees to share; the zuchinni flowers and the arancini. Although typically served with 3 pieces per plate the waitress kindly offered us to add an extra piece of each so we could all have one each (there were four of us). We then ordered mains individually which were just as impressive as the starters. We finished of by sharing a tiramisù for dessert which was devine. Was such a pleasant evening and we will be returning.

We booked this place for a birthday dinner for a friend with 15 people in total. After we arrived and ordered some drinks they asked if we wanted some anti pasta to share while we decided on what to order. We said fine maybe just some small things to start. They proceeded by bringing out about 20 starters worth $400 including 4 x deep fried zucchini flowers (over $100) and some type of liver pate that no one really wanted. At some point I said to the waiter this was too much food and not what we had in mind when he said “some antipasti to share”, he got annoyed and said “do you have a problem with our food?” Not wanting to cause trouble we stayed quiet. None of us had space left for a main so we ended up sharing some mains but the bill was quite high and this was not what we had in mind for the birthday dinner. Won’t be coming back.

After many recommendations to visit this restaurant, i was pleasantly surprised by the food and atmosphere that was given at Giro d'italia. <br/><br/>Upon arrival, we were greeted by the chefs contagious smile and very prompt service by the floor staff. As it was my first time dining there, we had asked for recommendations, and there is not a single item that i would be able to complain about. The food we had ordered, was simple yet takes you on a journey of flavours that makes you feel as if you were in Italy. <br/>I had left that night with a very full stomach, and a very content smile.  <br/><br/>Everything about this restaurant has been done with love, from the food to the interior to all the smiles on all the staff. I will definitely be back!

We had a lovely dining experience at Grio D'Italia and felt truly looked after, not only the warm service the food was personal, sensory and absolutely delicious. If you want a real tour of Italy via your tastebuds, I would highly recommend this place.

Delicious authentic Italian cuisine from diffetent parts of Italy, good selection of wine including wine from the tap (4 types), friendly service.

After driving past multiple times, and wondering what had just opened locally. My partner and I decided to have a little bit of a late dinner and pop in. <br/><br/>We didn’t expect to be served as we arrived after 10pm but they were more then happy to accomodate and the service throughout the night was top notch, we were told they had only been open for a few months though the vibe and feel of the place is already so homely and warm.<br/><br/>We ordered the Arancini, Duck Ragu Tagliatelle and Seafood Gnocchi and WOW were blown away the we couldn’t fault the pasta if we tried perfectly cooked, great amount of protein and sauce, literally melt in your mouth.<br/><br/>They have a great array of drinks, Moretti on tap and local and Italian wines.<br/><br/>Definitely a must visit and the new local pasta place for me.

Disappointing visit to this well recommended restaurant.<br/> <br/>The service was very slow with a side to our mains not on the table until we had finished eating. <br/>The main courses were pleasant but very small and we needed those fat chips to supplement our meals!! The very friendly maître d did credit the cost of the chips as a good will gesture.<br/>After waiting some time to be offered the dessert menu, we had to call up the wait staff to take our orders<br/>The info about BYO is incorrect - This is only available on Wednesday<br/>Finally we were surprised to find that they charge a 10% surcharge on Sunday.<br/>Altogether a disappointing experience

Spotted a review in the Herald Sun recently and decided to try it out.<br/><br/>We were shown to our seats at the bar for our dinner. <br/><br/>We were quickly offered a pre-dinner drink and told about the menu.<br/><br/>We decided to share entrees and what a great choice the sardines and arancini balls proved to be. All food is we were told made on site and the sardines were a delicious starter. The crumb with the sardines was amazing.<br/><br/>I opted for the pasta with tomato based sauce and seafood. What a brilliant dish. A beautiful tomato based sauce with fresh seafood - prawns, calamari, mussels and pippies. Absolutely delicious. One of my fellow diners chose the special of king George whiting which was chargrilled with a tasty cauliflower accompliment. <br/><br/>I didn’t have dessert but what my friends ordered looked delicious.<br/><br/>This has only recently opened and first impressions were very good. The service was friendly and professional and the food we chose delicious. My friends have already booked for a regional dinner coming up in a month or so.<br/><br/>I will certainly be back again.

The service was outstanding and the food was light not to heavy but a punch in the face full of flavour then the deserts I highly recommended the tiramisu so light and they were not stingy on the size of the portion. The staff were very knowledgeable as in where and which region each dish came from and what wine that goes with each morsel of food

Awesome restaurant, gnocchi was delicious, Staff very friendly, Dom the owner came and spoke to us for a good 5 minutes. Even received some freebies. Staff were smiling even though they were very busy. 5 stars!

We booked a table for six after we heard that this restaurant was recently opened and thought we'd give it a go. It was simply wow for us! The entire evening was fantastic, the restaurant looks great almost classy without being devoid of character, the seating is comfortable and the greeting was warm and inviting. The waiting staff were great on this evening, friendly and able to have a laugh as did the owner as he cam to our table a few times for a bit of banter and a laugh. Each and every meal was enjoyed by all without complaint. We will be back again soon to try out the other dishes we missed out on!

We’ve been here a few times now and it’s just fantastic. The food is exquisite, the service is impeccable and they cater to my dietary requirements with a smile. A beautiful night out. Get in now before everyone finds out and you can’t get a table.

I went here on a recommendation, and it was a delightful experience. The food (two shared pasta dishes) was seriously good...delicious and genuine Italian. The restaurateur (Dom) is Italian, and he engaged well with us - he seemed sincere and down-to-earth, and he has a delightful sense of humour. He has installed blinds to create a nice barrier between the outside tables and the traffic, so the experience of sitting in the warmth of a late-summer afternoon with wonderful food, a tasty wine and great company will be one to remember. Prices are very reasonable.

Found this little gem nestled away in trendy Rathdowne St. Authentic Italian owner from Bologna in Northern Italy, with a fabulous passion for food. Salumi board was wonderful and sliced freshly. The pasta was "to die for". Gnocchi were light and fluffy and if you are lucky the chef might reveal his secret process. The seafood pasta was equally superb. Wines were extremely reasonably priced. All in all certainly worth a trip to this recently opened slice of Italy!!
