Review Squires Loft Docklands - Melbourne

C S
Really good food. I got the T-bone for my bucks night. It was a little on the rare side, which worked well for this cut. The sides were enormous. The baked mushrooms even converted a friend who has never liked mushrooms before, so I strongly recommend them. Price was good too. Pretty rare to find a steak joint that includes a side (baked potato) with your meal these days. Overall, very happy.

Had an amazing dinner at this CBD steak house. I know if I was working on the top end of Collins or Bourke St this would absolutely be my haunt. The service was really friendly and easy going. The menu has great variety with a clear focus on classic steak house meals. From the starters, the fetta mushrooms were amazing. The combination of flavours melded so perfectly! Def recommend these. Bread was pretty stingy so can def hear my mother in my ear whispering "don't fill up on bread" - it's ok Mum little chance of that here lol. Now the mains... The ribs!! OMG the ribs... I went for the pork ribs and they were so juicy and tender... I got extra glaze and I am so glad that I did. A-may-zing! My friend had the steak and it was tender and really well accompanied with the blue cheese sauce. Finishing off with the sticky date pudding really put an amazing cap to the evening. While I don't drink the wine selection looked well chosen. Def a great restaurant, perfect for relaxed evening or perhaps to take that client after meetings in town. Recommended.

Poor overall experience. Problems and disappointment from the start. 1. Tried to book by phone but forced to book online. Only problem was site kept rejecting my phone number. Left a message on voicemail and heard nothing for 2 days. Tried again next day. Finally on third day site took my details and later that day someone returned my original call. 2. Service was poor. Six tables seated with 3 staff available. Waiter forgot to come back to take my drinks order. Had to give it to the food waitress. 3. My steak was horrible. See pic. Not 'marble' but globs of stringy fat. I was able to eat half. Waiter halfway though eating eventually came to ask if it was 'cooked okay?'. Not whether the meal was okay. 4. My 3 companions said their steaks were 'okay - not great'. The cheapest stake we had was $46. At this price there are a lot better restaurants in Melbourne!

🍤 Eye Fillet Steak w Prawn Skewer, Mushroom Sauce 🥩 Angus Porterhouse Steak w Pepper 🧅 Fried Onions 🥗 Side Caesar Salad The classic grill house chain Squires Loft has been around for over 25 years and have expanded to 17 stores over VIC, WA and even Thailand! They source their top quality beef primarily from Victoria’s Gippsland. When I first visited their Docklands restaurant I remembered it being quite romantic on the waterfront. That was about 5 years ago and since then i feel like it has changed into something more low key and family-friendly. The staff are very friendly and personable. Both the food and beverage menu’s were pretty simple, we each ordered a steak and some shared sides. The steaks were as good as I remembered, perfectly cooked with a lot of flavour from their special basting sauce. The prawns had a nice char on them but most of the sides here need a little bit of TLC, the Caesar salad was sad, I wouldn’t order it again. The chips and onions were crispy but average. I would recommend this for a casual dining experience, you can get a good steak at a decent price.

This is my favourite steak house. A beautiful outlook over the water, exceptionally polite and friendly staff.... And then there's the steaks. Just so good. I can't go past the rib eye. We always have the mushroom and feta (garlic) option and green peppercorn gravy and or the mushroom gravy. I take all the family here when they visit from interstate and it's become our dinner out favourite.

I have been trying to convince the wife to try a different steak place and this place did not disappoint. As expected, the food is phenomenal but the staff are super friendly and that what adds to the experience. Ryan is definitely an entertainer. Keep up the good work and we'll definitely come back.

10/10 we went during the week so it was a little quite and I think people are still scared to come out, so the ambiance wasn't what it could be. But the food... WOW. Best steak I've ever had. Amazing service from the team and very bubbly, you can see they work well together and have positive vibes as soon as you walk in. Highly recommend. Well done Squires

Thank you for such a friendly, fun and delicious dinner last night! Promise next time we will book ahead and thank you for fitting us in at the last minute. Best steaks, brilliantly done with the green peppercorn sauce (and the chips) will ensure we will return and really appreciated the amazing service from the team. It’s 5 stars from everyone on our table!!

I'm so confused with some of the things on the menu - what is the kitchen trying to achieve?

The cheese platter came with STRAWBERRY JAM instead of quince paste - confirmed by waitress.

Steak - not bad. Jalapeno sauce was tangy and spicy. Definitely an unusual sauce pairing,

Salad - basic with some unidentifiable dressing.. Generous with it though.

Starter of baked mushroom and feta - SO MUCH feta. Should be renamed tiny button mushrooms swimming in feta and herbed feta oil, baked tile the feta is crumbly hot and brown. Nice but will set sodium levels in the body soaring.

Have to say that the staff are very friendly.

2.5 stars ⭐️. Firelight festival is on this weekend and we have decided to check it out. Not wanting to eat out in the cold with two kids with the limited food truck option, we decided to check out Squires Loft in Docklands for a sit down dinner.

We ordered lamb for the kids to share, and both of us got the eye fillet with lobster tail and sauce.

The kids were hangry, and thankfully they gave us some warm bread to start, because we waited quite a long time for our meals. It wasn’t even busy at that time (before 6pm) and the restaurant wasn’t even 1/4 full!

When our food finally came, the steaks were nice, the sauce was woefully lukewarm and a bit too thick and gloopy. I wish I didn’t decide to fork out $5 extra for this. It doesn’t even taste good!

We were offered a choice of condiments (free) and when we asked for mustard we were given this tiny dollop to share between the two of us.

The lobster tail is quite tasteless as well and a touch overcooked.

The lamb chops were nice, tender and flavoursome. I had a bit of food envy watching my kids eat their lamb chops.

Overall an Okay experience but Docklands should realllllllyyyy up their game in the food department.

This place does great steak, ordered the porterhouse and it was so soft, juicy and delicious! Great service from the waitresses too, they were all friendly and helpful :)

Friendly staffs, wine list is not my top notch but pair well with their categories of steak. Had my eye fillet last night in med rare and it was the best steak I ever had so far. Love it with my stella bella 2016 Highly recommend this place if you was a steak lover xx their dessert options are good enough. Sticky pudding was 7/10.

Can I just start by saying this place does great steak! It was absolutely delicious! Cooked to perfection and with a tasty sauce, I really enjoyed it. The chips were a little disappointing, but freshly cooked and I added my own salt. Presentation was nothing amazing, but there’s not a whole lot you can do with two items. The service was quick and efficient and staff pleasant and helpful.
Being child friendly is another win.
It was a little hard to find (located on the waterfront at the back of the whole building - #818 Bourke) but they do have a small sign visible from Bourke Street.
Would definitely return.

Came for dinner on a Friday night with a big group. There weren’t a lot of other people in the restaurant and we were the last ones to leave when they closed. I’m surprised because this restaurant was a lot better than the other Squires Loft restaurants that I’ve been to. We had to wait a little bit for our meals to come out, but that’s understandable because we were quite a large group. The service was very wonderful, super friendly and very attentive. Meals were really nice, my only disappointment is that the plates are really small and the portions are big, which makes it really hard to eat. The plates look good and are presented beautifully but it’s really impractical and very difficult to eat. Very awkward and really hard not to make a mess everywhere with food falling off the plate.
Tania
Came here for a work lunch, pre-ordered so everything was ready when we arrived which was great. Steak was cooked exactly how it was requested. The baked mushroom and feta is definitely worth a try - was absolutely delicious.

Had a rump steak with a drink for $25 as part of the weekday express lunch deal. Good service and food. Overall a good feed for weekday lunch.
The Casual Diner
Will come back for:
+ Scorch Fillet with mushroom sauce

I love my steaks, and this must be one of the better branches of Squires Loft around. I had a Scotch fillet (medium rare) for lunch, and it was grilled to perfection. The steak was juicy, super tender, and the accompanying mushroom sauce, thick, creamy and and loaded with chunky mushrooms. I also had a salad to round out the meal. Can’t really ask for more really. Staff were attentive, and the space was modern and had a great outlook to the Docklands harbour. Will definitely be back!

Awesome steak cooked to perfection at reasonable prices. Lovely ambience with waterfront view. Service staff is helpful and polite. Must try! Will be back for more!!

First of all, I’m so sad I forgot to take photos of my dish so I can upload them here ☹️

Food: i ordered the eye fillet (300g) with a side of chips and added mushroom sauce’ I really enjoyed my dish, streak was perfect and mushroom sauce was tasty 😋😋 chips were average but was well cooked 👌🏻 overall, it was very fulling and was satisfied 😁

Service: excellent customer service’ all very attentive and friendly 😊😊

Rating: 4/5 ! Would defs come back if I am craving steak ! Wonder if their other stores provide lovely food and service as well 🤩

Steak was Devine, cooked to perfection and the waitstaff were very attentive and lovely! Would certainly head back for a steak and recommend to all.

As they're known for steaks and other meat specialties, I decided to give them a try.

I must commend them on the ambience and service but steaks are subpar for me and I've had better elsewhere.

Nevertheless, would be keen to try again.

Had the black angus porterhouse steak for 46$-- really good steak! Medium rare was actually medium rare. Had a G&T during their happy hour for 5.50$ (before 6PM) outside with a lovely view. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine inside!

I must say the service here is impeccable! :) HUGE thank you to the Squires Loft team who served us on 12/12/17!
Stephanie Jade
Came here for dinner with friends and had the salmon with a side of chips it was lovely. My partner had the Angus beef steak (was around $70) and it was the best steak he has ever had in his life.

The dessert was to die for (forgot the name of the dessert)! I wish I had taken photos but the place was so nice and the food was so good that I completely forgot and just wanted to inhale the food when it arrived at the table 😂

Came here about a month ago for dinner. We had 2 (500g) black Angus rib eye on the bone steak with chips. We order extra creamy mushroom sauce and mustard sauce for our steak.

Also we order 2 baked mushroom & feta with herb butter each because we love this dish and 2 red wine.

Our steak was cook the way we wanted it and we enjoy everything that night. The sauce is generous serving too, couldn't finish it.

The staff that was serving us that night was friendly. When food is good and customer service is good, it definitely will make me come back. 😀

I have always enjoyed my meals at Squires Loft in Dockers. Nice surrounds and great water views if you are lucky. I have only ever come here for farewell lunches from work where the company has footed the bill so my review reflects food rather than food costs which are up there when you consider that the base price is for a seasoned steak with chips or potato and you then have to pay additional for specialty sauces and any form of greens on the plate.

The black rib eye is sizeable at 400g and i tend to mushroom sauce it and get a baked potato and share a garden or Greek salad. I ask for medium rear and that’s what I have ended up with

I never end up with room for dessert even though it looks appealing. Mostly classic pub desserts.

Sadly we can never drink at lunchtime work do’s if going back to the office to work so have never tried their wine selection which looks really good. Waiting staff always seem perplexed at have 12 or so folk turn up on company money and not overindulge in a vino or two... perhaps abstaining is not too common in the corporate sector.

They often get big groups in and so pays to get in early ahead of their orders of time is an important factor for you.

We make a reservation at 8 o clock but we’re running late. The restaurant is kind enough to hold our reservation even though their kitchen is closing soon. Finally make our way there for dinner and yeap, the steak is as good as what we have heard from our friends. Portion is generous too. Ordered lamb loin chop too, taste great but portion is slightly too small though.

Overall experience is great so definitely will visit again :)

At Squires Loft, you will be getting C-grade pub food at finer dining price points. This place is neither here nor there and I'd honestly rather have a sandwich at home. Having had steak and both the beef and pork ribs here, I wasn't too satisfied with my meals. The meats here were tough and flavours uninspiring. There wasn't anything disastrous about Squires Loft, just that the food was sub-par and the service required a little push. My advice? Just avoid.

Scenic Location, friendly and attentive staff, great tasting food and large serving sizes, What more could you ask for? Myself and my girlfriend had a great night here and will be back 😊

This isn't a cheap meal, like my other reviews but i thought i would still cover it.

Get the Pork Ribs to share as an entree. You will not be disappointed. I ordered the Black Angus Porterhouse with the Greek salad and green pepper sauce. Steak was cooked on point, i preferred the black pepper sauce from my last visit better. Salad............ although nice, doesn't complete the meal. Get the chips to dip in the sauce. Nice Decor, friendly staff and parking wasn't impossible to find in docklands, although double check the parking signs and I’ve been fined before. I prefer the Essendon venue (much more cosy), but its all fantastic food in the end.
Nomafoodic Chipineats
Good ambience, out on the waterfront. The meat is up to standard, though always request for a doneness a notch rarer than what you want. They tend to overcook the meats. Eg, if you ordered medium rare- it would come out medium.
Lola Bear
Amazing service from the moment we walked in! Delicious food cooked perfectly- eye fillet cooked medium spot on. Staff were so attentive and courteous! Atmosphere was casual and comfortable.

Solid, reliable and professional. These guys serve good steaks and ribs with cold beer. A favourite in Docklands with great service. I need to write 140 character so this last sentence is probably not worth reading, so, yeah.

🍴Went and we are extremely critical of our steak's . 🍖🍴While unsure about the other reviews, we had a fantastic experience.
Our meals were simply amazing 🙌🏻and the service was good. Nothing to complain about at all.🙋🏽‍♂️🙋🏽
There was a really warm atmosphere👍🏽 and it felt very friendly and comfortable. Only down part is that it's a bit expensive..but overall great 👍🏽
We will be going back! 🍴

We visited in winter and the atmosphere was great.
Warm and cozy with heaters out on the deck overlooking the water.
Service by staff and publican were great.
Child friendly and decent priced meals.
If you're a fan of cocktails definitely recommend the Green Hornet- be careful though, once that fresh air hits you you soon realise you're pissed as an it! Haha!
Great food and elegant setting.
Good Food Good Mood
One of my favourite spots for steak and clearly the consensus given there are branches all over town. Really succulent steaks and rare is always rare (why it it so rare, pardon the pun, that your meat actually arrives grilled per your instruction). It's not quite the stratosphere of Rockpool but it's also not Rockpool price points. Not cheap by any means but definitely value for money given the quality. Interesting graphical depiction on the menu of where each cut of meat comes from and the temperature each type is cooked at which is helpful if you want to try something new. A cut above your average steakhouse

Go to Rare steakhouse instead and save yourself the wasted time trying to deal with the staff and management here.
The steaks at Rare are better and the staff are helpful, friendly and knowledgable.
Dolly The Explorer
My second favourite place for steak!!! Melts in your mouth and I could never get sick of coming here!!! Absolutely amazing! Service is great as well as cocktails.
The Dear Luncher
The Dear Luncher was always aware of the fact that there are several branches of Squires Loft. However, upon searching for the Docklands edition he realised that there were 57 of them. There’s even one in Thailand. Does this make them the McDonald’s of steak houses? Let’s find out.

Squires Loft serves really awesome steak. It is quite pricey but you get what you pay for with the quality of the steaks although chips does not come with the orders. The scotch fillet is a must! There's plenty of sides to choose from but my personal favourite would have to be the crispy onion rings. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Tasted good on the night but several members (6 out of 11) of our group reported upset stomach that night and the following days. Maybe the sauce.
Loved the service and meal here. Started with the prawn kebab and lobster tail - the lobster was a bit so so, however the prawns were delicious! The steak for mains were awesome, one of the best for sure! And ended the evening with some great affogato. The service was great too. Highly recommend for great steak ..

On two occasions I have had very bad experience trying to get table at Squires Loft Docklands. Their owner /manager should seriously revisit as this approach is offensive to customers and is money losing and resource wasting for the business.

I have turned up a bit early, right around noon to a totally empty restaurant, I mean 40 tables empty inside and more outside. 4-6 staff members standing around. "Do you have a reservation?" "No" I say w a smile almost thinking they are joking w 6 staff loitering about and as a cavernous emptiness echoing through the restaurant. Then they say, "I am sorry we are fully booked". " but nobody is here and you will never fill up before we finish!", I suggest. The automaton receptionist, clearly programmed not to think but to just machine read reservations says no we are fully booked. Now all employees kind of gathered around, chucks a card rudely onto counter and says "make a booking".

I mean restaurants all about food, service and throughput. I even told them we were with large local businesses. They were deaf. So instead the 6-8 employees did nothing for next 15 minutes and waited (losing money for business and pissing off exec and frequent diner with a horrible booking policy for busy lunch venue).

Insult to injury was I stopped by an hour later to many empty tables. Of course there are no shows and late shows but automaton receptionist training not taught or empowered just to be rational and recognise that there was no problems because we would have been long gone before last table filled.

Steaks are overall good and service acceptable once you get in but this "customer avoidance policy" towards regulars and early shows is offensive and not a wise busines practice.
Really enjoyed our experience here. Came here for our anniversary and our steaks were cooked perfectly to our liking as were all the different cocktails we decided to sample. Service was really friendly too.
WhiskySaint
Nice steak, great service but view totally spoilled by a large group fagging outside, leaning up against the window and not the view we expected.
Isle
I love their steaks here at Squire's Loft. I am not a cheese fan but the blue Danish sauce is the best thing I have ever paired my steaks with. The chicken kebabs are delicious, too. Onion rings need to be crunchier, stuffed mushroom entreé always come cold but chips are crispy and yum so of course we're coming back.
Food For The Soul
Went there on a Monday night... Great meal, had a rib eye (cooked to perfection) asked medium rare and got it... with blue cheese sauce....Wow and the wine recommendation was bang on...
Likes Eating Out
We dined there on Saturday night for a special occasion and it was our friends choice of restaurant - they are have dined here often and raved about the food and service. We have actually dinned at the one in St.Kilda previously which I found to be over-priced and nothing too special in all honesty, so my expectations weren't overly high....just as well...!
After a few serves of bland, oily onion rings were shared at the table, we ordered mains. I ordered a steak, after all its a place which prides itself on the quality of meat. What a complete disappointment! The meat was bland, chewy, full of fat and frankly inedible - I actually left 3/4 of the steak. When I mentioned this to the waiter who saw that i had barely touched it, he offered a 50% on my main meal. My husbands meal was not any tastier, but he could at least eat his. Wont be going back. There are so many fabulous meat/steak places around and with better ambience, which are a fraction of the cost and i will happily given them my hard earned $$

Expected something special from a steak house. Found the steak to be standard fare. Maybe I don't appreciate a good steak or I need to adjust my expectations.
Guido Benito Secchi
I've been here Sunday night, with 3 friends of mine.. definitely worth it for the meat selection, all of us satisfied for the quality of the food.
Just in our opinion, the desserts were not as good as the steaks.
Anyway, I'll go back! Recommend

Having been shopping at Harbour Town, we wandered across the other side to grab our dinner at Squires Loft, facing the harbour. Having made a reservation at 6 p.m. we were one of the first few tables seated. Staff were very attentive, menus and water were provided promptly. What we really enjoyed was the diagram with the different cuts of meat and descriptions of their characteristics.
Our Foodie Finds
Located on the wharf, Squires Loft is as well located as it is well known as being one of the better options for a delicious lunch time meal. Have been a few times now and the place serves some pretty good grub for a reasonable price.

Presentation of the food could do a bit of work through I guess the style is very much pub food so its forgivable-ish.

Ordered the scotch fillet medium rare served up which came with fries. Also ordered a side of english mustard to give it a good kick too. Steak was a 300g cut for $34.0 which was well seasoned, juicy and nicely cooked although a tiny over done for medium rare. Dish it's served out of is quite awkward being a hot plate which packs the steak and rhe pile of fries all on the one plate. All of which is based on a wooden paddle which had matched the paddle 2 pieces of warm sour dough and butter were served on.

Staff were on point from start to finish and were very attentive and friendly. Decor is half bar style, half corporate restaurant feel which blends into its concrete and corporate surroundings quite well.

Overall a great lunch and it tasted even better as it was free due to a colleague paying for the meal 👌 Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find today!

I had been using this booking site called Dimmi where you can get points each time you book through this site. We then got a $50 voucher for booking 8 times (woot!) and decided to go here. My boyfriend ordered his steak – medium rare with a side of pepper sauce. He liked it but not as much as Rockpool steak. The chips were alright but tastes better with the sauce.
Small Creek
Squire's is like the fast food version of a steakhouse: consistent. In the same way that I don't go to Maccas to be tantalised and inspired, this place is fine if you're not too creative with what you want to eat. Or if you're after no excitement in your life. Or if you just hate your tastebuds and think of your body as a machine and food as fuel. You might as well eat soylent.

On the other hand, everyone I know really appreciates its early start happy hours.
Phuong Phan
Nice view from where squires loft is and especially at night, thought it'd be a great night out. Ordered lamb chops for entree and had wished I had ordered it for main instead, the meat was cooked perfectly with that little lemon sauce/dip topped it up. 10/10. However the Scotch fillet steak I ordered (medium rare requested) came out about 35 minutes later and it being rare. Not quite impressed with the sauces either. Didn't hit the spot for me. Have heard really good things about this place but didn't live up to the hype as it should have.
MF
A nice steak house I must say, with a beautiful view of the docklands harbour. Staff are nice and attentive. I really liked the rib eye on the bone but other steak cuts were just average. Other dishes like salads and desserts were really just acceptable and I do think those need a bit of improvement. Overall it is a nice dinner option at Docklands with nice dining atmosphere.

Venue: contemporary and comfortable. Simplicity steak house.
Service: excellent and attentive waitress and waiter. Able to solve problems on the fly. Definitely tipping for service.
Food: one of the most enjoyable meals I have had in a long time, steak came out to perfection accompanied by great condiments.
Portion was money's worth not leaving you bloated not hungry. Not overly fancy but stuck to your classic steak house style.@

What a fantastic experience!
My partner and I went for dinner on a Saturday night.
The service and food were fantastic! Could not fault them.

When asking the staff for suggestions of meat cuts they were very knowledgeable and helpful.

Have been back 3 or 4 times and will keep going back

Loved this place. I've been here before a couple of years ago, and they have maintained their high standards for sure. They cooked the steaks perfectly. We also had a number of other dishes that were excellent, and the wait staff were fantastic. Would definitely eat here again.

Lovely place with a great atmosphere. Views of docklands and the river were nice. Ordered black angus eye fillet which was cooked nicely. The chips and mushroom sauce were great. Extensive wine list and friendly service. Would come back next time.

Visited on Friday night. Lively ambience, great service and awesome steak. Had tiger prawn kebab, fried calamary and black angus eye fillet, all of them was yumm - do try prawn kebab if you like tiger prawns.
Long island ice tea was good but have had better.
Overall great and surely will visit again.

Tried the all you can eat Ribs at Squires..
(Riblets)

First serve - 1kg of Riblets, amazing sauce and chips were delish!! Couldn't eat too many chips because before i knew it... another 1kg of riblets! (Dont worry didn't eat 2kgs..)

Chunky riblets - 8/10
Sauce - 8/10
Service - 8.5/10

$55.00 for all you can eat.. ill be back!
Jdmmps
By far the worst ribs and burgers place i have ever tried in Melb. Ribs were boiled and were then pasted with BBQ sauce. I took about 2 bites of each and only because I was staving and left the rest. The worst $70 I've ever spent. I have no idea how this place is still in business.
Michael Adziovski
Was happy with this place, the menu doesn't have a huge variety but does have good options (def give the lobster tail a go)
Giving a 4 as there was a staff member who I felt was a little rude with their responses/service
The atmosphere inside the restaurant could also have been a little better, considering the Docklands location.

Ah Squires Loft Docklands - the one and only time I've been defeated by food. The wagyu burger - 300gm of wagyu patty serve with bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and honey mayo PLUS onion rings AND sauce! I had to take the rest of the day off from work due and I actually wrote down 'Food Coma' as my reason. Well played sir.
RayDAN143
A nice restaurant with waterside location. Overall the steak was good but I found the seafood a bit 'hit and miss'. My T-bone steak tasted good with the green peppercorn sauce. It went down well with the Blue Pyrenees Shiraz I ordered ($50 per bottle). The seafood (Grilled Salmon and the Salt & Pepper Calamari) that my family ordered were disappointing. My rule has always been not to order seafood from a steak place. So that would be my advise to anyone. In saying that though the Beef and Reef was enjoyed by my family members. My rating is 3.5 as I expected much more from the price we paid for dinner with my family.
Cheese Toastie
Great steak. Slightly above average prices. Meals on the smaller side of average but still delicious and goes down well. Have to try the garlic sauce with the fillet. So good.

A good place to go for steak depending on what you order. Now I can't remember exactly what we ordered but I had a steak & loved my meal with mushroom sauce to die for. My husband didn't really enjoy his meal though but I put it down to what he ordered, maybe not to his taste. Food is good quality & fresh, staff are really helpful & went above & beyond to cater for a birthday celebration.

on july 18th 2015 i visited the squires loft at the docklands with relatives, staff where very helpful, had a sense of humour, as i come from country victoria, and service was excellent. if you like steak this is the place to go. i have never been here before, but certainly will be visiting again very soon. i ate the 500g black angus rib-eye on the bone and it melted in your mouth, honestly. it was a fair serve and great value for money, i highly recommend this place if u like your steak. they do other meals as well, as yet havent tired them.

One of the best steaks I've ever had was from squires loft. I know they have a few different outlets, so they may vary on how they make the steak, I'm not sure. What I am sure of is, that when I said medium rare, they cooked my steak to medium rare. This was a first as other places cook my steak to my specific orders.

I had the surf n turf and had the lobster tail portion along with my cut of thick steak cooked to perfection. The steak is juicy, tender and bold to the taste. It is extravagantly prepared but with finesse and class. The gravy boat is a wonderful addition, as the garlic mushroom saucy is to die for! The lobster tail is average, nothing special but they definitely know how to cook a steak.

I had their scrumptious sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce. It was fabulous, so addictive that I always order this particular dessert and cannot get enough of it. It is fantastically prepared and delivers on taste and value.

Squires Loft is indeed a great place and probably the best place to get a steak that matches in quality and preparation to your specific order.
Beau James
Have had a number of lunches here over the past year and definitely worth the money for the steaks.

Typically go with the scotch fillet and the creamy garlic sauce (definitely the best steak sauce I've had) with a side of chips. The steak is always cooked perfect (medium rare) and the chips compliment everything perfectly. Would prefer it if they offered a couple of bigger weights within the cuts as the 300g just doesn't get there in the 'filling me up' goal.

The prices are fine with the exception of $5 for a sauce.

The one issue? It's really hit or miss with the wait staff. A few times they have been perfect and a few others non-existent. So I'm an infrequent diner here as I'm hesitant to spend another $100 for two and risk being let down.

Popped in for a steak dinner on a Friday night, location is nice over looking the docklands Bay area and an easy walk from the Melbourne CBD. The staff were friendly and easy going - making perusing the menu, questions and ordering a breeze. However, the food did leave something to be desired. The entree of lobster tail was overcooked and tasteless - no flavour or sauce added to the already mighty expensive dish. You are effectively just eating a grilled lobster tail - they offer the typical precut lemon to drizzle over but it's already dry from sitting there all day. The prawns were tasty and much better presentation with a tasty sauce binding them together. We opted for a scotch fillet and a Porterhouse steak - while they were cooked to their required finish (medium rare and rare respectively) the meat and cut were very sinewy a lot of muscle and chewy. Overall it was a mediocre experience - i enjoyed the service but not so much the food.

Awesome ribs!. Went there for dinner for friend's recommendation last night. The steak and pork ribs that we ordered were awesome and so tasty, by far, the best pork ribs I've had in a very long time. Definitely worth giving it a try and will come back!

Best steak in Melbourne. Took some friends from out of town here. Had a great night. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the service was fantastic. Found the staff very helpful and informative. Will definitely be going back.

The restaurant continues to serve Melbourne’s most succulent meat cut and grilled to true perfection.

The food was terrible. Steak was dry and over cooked and the ribs had no flavor. Probably the only thing that was good was the water.

Disappointed. I asked for warm water and a slice of lemon in a glass as im pregnant. I was then informed it would cost . 50cent. Considering we paid over $100 for our meal i just thought it was a little greedy asking for .50cent for a cup of warm water and a slice of lemon.
Food was nice. I had the pork ribs which were not the nicest iv ever eaten.

Great food, shame about the service. Dined at Squires Loft in the Docklands last night for my sisters Birthday. We ordered the Tiger Prawns for entrees which looked great but we were given no plates to eat them on. After about 10 minutes of waiting for a waiter to walk by, we decided to just grab the plates from the empty table next to us. The prawns did however taste great. We got our main dishes shortly after which again, were fantastic and cooked very well. We brought along a cake for my sister and started putting the candles in and we were approached by the waiter who advised us that there would be a $10 cakeage fee to do the cake at the restaurant. We were shocked and gave the waiter a strange look so he said he would go and ask the manager if the fee could be waived. He came back and told us that we would still be required to pay. We decided to do the cake there considering the candles were already in. We were once again given no plates, cutlery or serviettes so we just grabbed them from the other table. I was dissappointed with the service overall and would not dine here again.

Pricey but Tasty. Took a colleague from overseas here for dinner, the steaks, albeit a bit pricey were all cooked to the correct temperature which is always a good sign.

The meal was very enjoyable, the service was courteous and attentive without being over the top.

Would go back.

Not the best. We were all craving a bit of iron at work, so decided on Squires Loft nearby for a beef fix. We were told we needed to be out within the hour when booking which is fine with us. However on arrival a large number of staff where gathered around the reception desk having a laugh. Two people were ahead of us, and apparently it takes 5 mins, and 5 staff to get them seated. We finally got shown to our table. We knew about the time limit, however the staff didn't seem to. Getting food and drink orders was near on impossible til I did the dramatic wave. While friendly enough there was no organisation or management of staff.

We all decided to try the wagyu burger for the first time. And really it will be the last. What a massive disappointment. It was really bad! The bun was verging on stale, the meat chewy, overcooked and almost processed tasting. A random sampling of scattered onion rings and chips. Was expecting a lot more as I thought this was slightly more upmarket than the pub, but really any burger chain, like burger edge or grilled etc would have been a much better, tastier and cheaper option. Should have got the steak!

So our hour was up.. but took forever to get the bill. People were waiting. But staff really had no idea. Think better management is needed.

Great Service, Average food. Went here for dinner last night after a recommendation from a friend. Food was very average for the price point but the service was excellent. Steaks were as expected, juicy and tender but the sauce was just ok. Would recommend if you're looking for a steak with a nice view but personally i would not be going out of my way to come back.

DISAPPOINTING. Waitress offered really bad service, rude and unfriendly.

Delicious!. We visited Squires Loft Docklands twice in a week recently and both times were excellent! The food was delicious and the service was great... We went on both quiet and busy nights and on both occasions could not fault them! The lamb scotch fillet was perfect and so tender! The double chocolate hot fudge cake was simply incredible. Will be back again :)

Disappointed. I haven't been here in a long time, and for good reason. The steak wasn't even standard. I asked for medium rare towards rare, and it came out medium. The food took forever to come out as well. The waiter wasn't very friendly, rude and felt bossy towards us. Didn't feel comfortable here.

Excellent steak and service. Got the 400g CAAB porterhouse with mushroom sauce, extremely tasty!
Service was great, staff were friendy.

After many recommendations we decided to try Squires Loft for ourselves. A superb valentines treat by my partner. The food was spectacular as well as the service a great spot to put onto our list of favourite places to eat out!! We will be back!!

Disappointing at the Docklands!. My partner and I ate here on valentines day for dinner, the reason for coming here is I've heard such great things off friends and in social media etc..well I thought my friends must be crazy for liking the food here I could not Believe it the food was horrible!!! We started off with calamari which tasted just like I was eating flour came with no sauce which would of helped it I had to order a coke to wash down the taste as my wine was yuck also, so I thought that's ok the main must get better when only it got worse I had salmon which was a fine piece of salmon just no flavour no seasoning at all it was so plain as was the baked potato the sauce I ordered was so thick and tasteless that didn't help my dinner and the Side salad was like I was going to a barbecue at a football club only had a drop of dressing. My partner had a steak which was nice bit of meat but still wasn't seasoned his chips tasted microwaved and the creamy garlic sauce....DISGUSTING wasn't creamy looked just like a thick paste with a whole garlic in it. I'm not one to complain to anyone whilst out for dinner so wee didn't but I was shocked that a place that's been so talked up the food was not great not even good not even ok. There was so many staff on that we're all asking ask the same questions over and over which got annoying having so many different staff as your waitress I understand it was valentines day and you may of thought it would be busy but with that food I don't think you will be that busy. I'll leave this comment on a positive note the man who I take it was the manager who was at the till was lovely and so was the grape lolly that's why I simply couldn't complain so I resorted to this.

BAD SERVICE. While the steak were good, the level of service was simply appalling. One of the waitresses was so rude it made us feel uncomfortable. She was the reason why we did not order any desserts and left as quickly as we could. It was a real shame as the steak were good as per the Squire Loft standard. One plus side for us, there are plenty of other Squires Loft around where we can go and enjoy a meal and would surely not come back to the Docklands one.

Feed the Man Meat. Yummo.. Good service, excellent house wine, great entrées, had a Salt and Pepper Squid, just melted in your mouth, my partner had the Chicken Breast Kebab, absolutely beautiful.
My steak was cooked perfectly medium to med rare.
We were a party of four and everything we ordered was spot on.
Have to try the Blue Cheese Sauce, wow!!!
Yes a tad pricey but oh what a view, Victoria Harbour never looked better.
We still thought that paying for your steak sauces was a bit over the top.
All in all a wonderful and very pleasant experience, what else do you go out for????
DP
Very satisfied with the main dish, service and venue. Dessert is very disappointing. Just go for the meat! Well done. I'll be back.

Great meat. This place is awesome. Good fillet of meat and ribs are to die for. Been here a number of times and they never get it wrong - meat is always cooked to your liking. Will b back again soon.
Nell
Wow just ate the most perfectly cooked melt in my mouth eye fillet! Perfection!

Ate there on Friday and had a wonderful time excellent staff and great food will be back very soon!!!

Not what my partner and I expected. My partner and I couldn't eat our streak it was hard to cut through and too chewy, also we ordered medium rare and it came out rare.
MrFatSmitty
The slow cooked lamb scotch, ya gotta have it, it's freakin awesome.

Awesome food and amazing location !!
Great selection of wines !!!
Definitely try the beef Ribs
Masterchef
Superb steak and good service. Been here twice and will definitely return for more. I recommend this restaurant.
Paul
Was there for dinner with a group of 20. I ordered a steak medium rare. When i cut it open it was very rare. It was very undercooked to my liking. My friend next to me also ordered a medium rare steak which was also under done. We both sent our steaks back. Very average place to have steaks in my opinion. Would not be in a rush to go back.
Dave
Best service staff I've ever dealt with. Food was amazing. Definitely go back there again!
Dannie
The staff took the wrong order. When we tried to rectify it when we got the bill, the staff would not stop arguing, put the blame on us and was extremely rude. When they brought the rectified bill, we found that they double charged our drinks. The last time when another staff brought the bill to us, she literally threw the bill on the table and left. This is the worst service we had in all squires loft. All the waitresses working on 11.6.13 night clearly requires training in customer service.
Winter
Had a steak and asked for medium rare, came out medium to well done. Extremely disappointed!!!! Especially after waiting for about an hr as well...
Staff were friendly though, offered a new steak but not going to wait another hr for food! Squires loft at south Yarra was way better.
Lycheee
Pros: friendly attentive staff

cons: paying $5 for steak sauce on the side. That's an insult. I would rather them incorporate that into the price of the steak rather than making them stick out like dogs balls
- only chips for the side. no little side salad?? for the expensive price of the steak you'd at least expect some greens

overall: not worth it, can find cheaper great quality steak elsewhere
James Morgan
Ribs are great. This is my go-to place whenever I'm looking for great ribs. It's not the cheapest place around, but you can go here confident that you're going to get a meal and service that is every bit worth the money you're spending.

Take your parents, or take your partner. This is a sure bet.
