Review Schmucks Bagels - Melbourne

Jason Lau
A range of delicious bagels, with toppings and flavours to suit everyone! I ordered the Luv and Lox! Really yummy at first but the cream cheese gets intensive after a while. If you are going with others i would recommend sharing with others to taste different bagels/flavours.
Chris Loke
I ordered their day's special holy belly bagel. It was simply awesome and delicious. The coffee is very good too. A definite recommended place to dine in or takeaway.

Bagels done right! Visited for breakfast and these were so delicious we even got takeaway for a quick lunch on the go since we had to catch a flight in the afternoon. Definitely get the Luv u Lox which is an absolutely delicious classic staple at most bagel places with rye bagel, cold smoked salmon, cream cheese and rocket. Polish hot brown was tasty as well with the kewpie mayo being a surprisingly good addition and complement to the different flavours. Not much seating for dine-in since most customers seem to come for takeaway, so we dined alfresco and sat right by the window, but overall plus points for the cosy atmosphere and small cafe vibes which was excellent for a rainy cold Melbourne morning. Would definitely recommend reheating some of the takeaway bagels though since these are best enjoyed hot (except the smoked salmon bagels)

Decent if not terrific bagels. Probably best described as a normal Australian lunch style bagel. Definitely not one you would get if you were in NYC. Generous portions, however somewhat strange decisions. The sausage and the bacon are best described as weird. It’s not a breakfast sausage, nor is it particularly full of flavour. The bacon is not great. Likewise, scrambling the egg is a strange move. Probably best sticking to this place as a lunchtime go to, or otherwise avoid the breakfast toppings.

Words and photos cannot describe how good these bagels are. I don’t know how they do it. All I can say is go there and try these yourself, it is a truly life changing experience. I challenge anyone try these bagels and not fall in love with them. 🥰

Sooooooo good, reasonably priced, I’ve never had bagels like this before! Get amongst it 😍 So tasty. A hidden gem.

My experience here made me love bagels even more! Love the selection and they really taste amazing! It wrapped up my trip to Melbourne on a wonderful note!

It’s not easy to trust a bagel…. They can be very seedy at times 🤡 . The bagels at @schmucksbagels however can be trusted to deliver the absolute goods 😍🥯 This cute little hidden away gem came up as recommended on our Uber Eats home page & we couldn’t resist! . Struggling to choose between sweet and savoury we made the unanimous decision to devour in a selection: 🥯 Morning Sunshine: pastrami & egg melted cheese, Dijon mustard and chilli mayo. The ratios where bang on and the do not scab on the pastrami 😍 🥯 Love You Lox: smoked salmon, creamy cream cheese, pickled red onions, cress, lemon in a rye bagel. A little bit too heavy on the cress, although it added a nice texture. The huge serving of cream cheese also did not disappoint 2 of the biggest cheese lovers on the plantet 🥯PB & J toasted blueberry bagel, peanut butter and raspberry jelly. Our go too sweet option did not disappoint, with a nice ration of PB to J. The blueberry bagel also worked perfectly. . I’m so incredibly keen to hit this place up again on my next melb visit to work through the massive menu 😍

Had the Smokin Chicken bagel after work yesterday. Packed, well-presented and delicious. My co-worker and I will be back! 2 new fans here

Love the salmon bagel, the filling is very generous, cant express how much i love this bagel. Bomb.com

This little joint offers a good variety of freshly made bagels. If you follow my journey, you must know that I obviously went for vegan bagels. While the Hippie Slicker was a good one, the simple Avacado bagel was my favourite! It was so fresh and delicious, I still can’t stop thinking about it. Lol! I’m going to go back soon! Who wants to join me?

Bagels 🥯 really nice for breakfast. Heard here once by my friends and try by myself. Choose the pineapple one soooo special! Everyone should try it!

Hidden in a little laneway off Little Bourke Street, Schmuck’s is bagel heaven with a gourmet selection, as well as the standard offering of toasted blueberry and cream cheese. Giant pickles in glass jars line the counter, and an assembly line of staff busily prepare bagels for takeaway and dine in customers like a well oiled machine.
Flying Forward
Quite a busy place, I wanted to like it because I love bagels but came away feeling annoyed.
My Smokin Chick bagel wasn't toasted or warmed up, and the filling just fell out everywhere.
Very quick preparation though.
Maybe I'll have better luck with a hot toasted bagel.
Some Bunee Loves Food
The chicken bagel was filling and nice, but too much mayo. The matcha latte was very milky and wasn't too matcha unfortunately..

Bagels.

The place is quite hidden, but on a lunch time it was totally packed. The staffs were really friendly and my bagel took a reasonable time considering the line. It was a bit noisy as it was crowded.

Had the blueberry bagel with cream cheese and dried raspberry. The bagel itself were nice, slightly crispy on the outside and has a nice chewy texture, though the blueberry flavour wasn't apparent becasue it's smeared with the cream cheese which was really generous. I was expecting it to be sweet for some reason but it wasn't so I asked if I could purchase extra honey and they gave it to me for free which was really nice.

Overall, some were tad bit pricy but yummy bagels!

( follow for more!✨)

xx,joelle.

Bagels are just fantastic when they are done right. Schmucks Bagels seem to do a reasonable job. I had their Oy Vey which consisted of tender pulled pork, crunchy slaw and salty tonkatsu sauce. There were some pickles on the side. The bagel itself was nice and chewy. The seeds on the bagel added a subtle nutty flavour. The whole package was a tad salty but it's not going to put me off returning in the near future to try their other offerings.
The Melbourne Master
Tucked in a still pocket away from the corporate hubbub of William Street, Schmucks Bagels is the perfect spot to catch your breath.

More than an escape, however, Schmucks serves some of the most creative, idyllic bagels in the city (take for example the Miso Schmick Tuna – a sesame bagel with ‘miso line caught tuna, wasabi peas, kewpie mayo, pickled ginger, pea-shoots and iceberg lettuce’).

Seeing the team at Schmucks at work is rather impressive. A group of around eight invariably friendly staff form what one could only call a highly organised assembly line behind the counter, churning out roll after roll. It’s a sightly process, worth sitting inside to witness in itself.

Schmucks offers an impressive range of sweet and simple bagels for breakfast (do yourself a solid and try the Nutty Monkey), as well as light, garden-inspired options for the savoury-inclined snacker. Wash down your bagel with a Schmucks coffee – likely some of the smoothest in the city.

For those on a health kick, a selection of fruit and granola jars are available on-the-go.

i LOVE findinf hidden gem places, and this place is definitely one of them! you would never expect that down this little alleyway would be a cosy haven of deliciousness! but there is and its called Schmucks! i felt like a fiery chick today so i ordered it. crumbed chicken with fresh coleslaw, melted cheesey goodness and some mild spicy sauce. delish!! Beyonces Halo song came on while i was eating it, and i thought, yes this bagel really is a halo 😁😋😇 The mocha i had was great too! super friendly and awesome service! and i loved the music playing! almost all the songs played were ones i love singing at karaoke. i had a great time here! :)
Minnie Chantpakpimon
Had blueberry bagel with cream cheese. Tastes really niceeee with load of cream cheese. Fulfill my bagel craving. Not too pricey for a nice bagel treat.

Schmucks bagel is located in a little alley in the city, this is one of the best bagel joints in the city.. The bagels were fresh and you can taste the quality in the ingredients that were used..
We had the BEBB (bacon and egg) and also the Schmucks Monsieur (ham & cheese) bagels and both were delicious.. coffees were also decent..
we were there for brekky around 8 in the morning.. and the place was jam packed with customers..
Larissa Mayumi
This is a hidden bagel place in the city that everyone needs to try at least once, The place is adorable and quiet so is a great place to have a nice meal. Besides that, the food came fast and it’s not pricy for a bagel like that! The bagel was tasty and crunchy and the filling was well seasoned, a little too spicy for my taste, but besides that it was good.
The coffee was smooth and delicious, I just love it!
The place has a great service and serves quickly, I’d totally recommend it!
Fijibaby
We had the schmoozer bagel for my partner and the GF non dairy smokin chick bagel for me.also tried the buckwheat granola with coconut yogurt. Good for a quick brekkie with really nice flavour and quality ingredients!definitely had food envy looking at my partners bagel!
Silllyadventures
Went on a Sunday and it was bustling. Ordered a coffee and a toasted blueberry bagel with cream cheese. When I opened the wrapping a strong and delicious smell of blueberries wafted out and I knew it was going to be good. The cream cheese filling was thick and generous and the bagel was warm and soft with a bit of chew but not too dense or hard at all. Coffee was excellent.
Wendy Kuo
My goto place for a bagel fix. Fresh chewy bagels whether just plain with cream cheese or a good selection of choices. Good coffee as well. But ask for a bit hotter than usual.
DD
I hope you guys switch the almond milk with a different brand as it’s really watery! Makes the coffee super bland. The bagels are nice but heavier on the ingredients would be good :) when I bite into it it seems like I’m tasting 80% bagel. I don’t really taste anything special but it’s a great place for some studying and quick lunch!
Nay Nay
I walked down an alley way in Melbourne in hunt of a coffee as most cafes were closed over the break. Came across this bagel shop which offered 'All Press' coffee one of my faves.
Hansi Dissanayake
Was waking around on Easter Friday and this spot was one of the only places open. So happy we decided to order from this place cause the bagels were so delish, filling and cheap!

I ordered the BEBB bagel (bacon and egg bagel). I was unsure about the combo of eggs, bacon, lettuce and tonkatsu sauce but it was delicious! The tonkatsu tied everything together and the lettuce provided a nice freshness. Such a great bagel spot!!
Cookielessvee
Friendly service and a line of seating.

Soy chai latte uses chai leaves and was very aromatic and smoothe.

Amazong bagel bread freshly baked and topped with a generous amount of sesame seeds.

Sausage and egg. The tonkatsu sauce was sharp and zesty.

Bacon and egg - not too strong, a great bagel for the morning.
Lizzie Eats Melbourne
😱Lizzie’s first impression: It is so close to my work place so naturally, I come here quite often for a drink or bagels.

🍩Lizzie enjoyed:
They have the best bagels - I also go for the blueberry flavoured bagel with cream cheese or the dehydrated berries.

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy:
The wait time can be a bit hectic in the morning but the staff are very nice which makes up for it.

🥇Lizzie rates overall: I still haven't had a chance to try their savoury dish but I can't wait to try.
The Dear Luncher
You are unlikely to actually even find Schmucks unless you are actively seeking it out. It's behind a building around a corner picking daisies.

They have a lot going on, don't be of the belief it's just bagels. But you'd be pretty silly if you didn't give their bagels a go because they're damn good.

The Dear Luncher is a schmoozer, and so when the Schmoozer bagel made itself known via the menu it was a no brainer. Within this one was some very nice brisket, jazzed up with a very tasty BBQ sauce, just a hint of spice. A real winner. Decebt price point ($11.50) for a house made bagel with fairly rich ingredients.
CharlotteJiang
They’ve got many flavors of bagel, and with different spread or styles. It is an interesting place, I went there in a early morning. The staff and the atmosphere is good. If you wanna try various flavors of bagel, you probably should come here.
Tracey @ NoWongFood
Hidden within many office buildings – if you don’t work or live around the area, you won’t come across Schmucks Bagel. I’ve had their bagels at least 4 times and say I’d recommend Schmucks Bagel when you want to feel a little healthy and full! Their Bagels are always toasted just right – crispy outside and a soft dough inside. I see their fillings as gourmet ingredients.
Catdog
Hidden in a back alley but cute little bagel place. I tried the nutty monkey (Nutella, banana) and it was really good, likewise with the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. Simple but tasty, I would go back if I lived in Melbourne!
Ana Jansz
Very tasty and fresh bagels, a good variety to choose from, good coffee and great customer service. This was my regular go to place when it first opened.
Ashley8513
You can’t go wrong with an avo our way bagel with a cheeky addition of bacon. The capers and pickled onion take this bagel to the next level. Inside has limited seating but the outdoor set up is perfect if the weather is good.
Emma
What a find! Soft and chewy bagels without being doughy, and very tasty fillings. I had the Avo Our Way for breakfast and bought a Hippie-Slicker as takeaway for lunch. The only downside to this place was the coffee which was overly milky. Service was quick and efficient and what I loved most about this place is that it’s hidden away, so you can have (some!) peace and quiet.
Urbanette
Ordered here through Uber Eats. Not sure who's fault it was but a cold sausage bagel turned up. I struggled to eat this as it was dry but got through some of it. Later I vomitted. There needs to be some quality control as to the temperature these are when they leave the restaurant. The venue needs to ensure they are not sitting there for a significant period of time.
Whitestar_man
Wow, didn't know this place but any place callled Schmucks is worth a try. I though hmm hipster bagels but hungry and haven't had bagels in ages. Tempted by the oy-vey, great name though not sure how kosher pulled pork is. But didn't want slaw and Smoked salmon called out. A classic. And wow, amazing, fresh quality ingredients and best rye bagel ever. Try the Oy-vey next probably just minus slaw.
Split The Bill
What a find! Schmucks bagels have made me so happy as I reminisce about New York while eating my Luv u Lox bagel with a generous serving of salmon, creamy cream cheese, pickled onion & lemon on a the bagel. We also had the nutty monkey with nutella and banana. Staff are lovely and friendly, love the latte art on my coffee. Definately a must visit.
Karina J
Coffee was average. The beans tasted like they were slightly over roasted and the milk wasn’t frothed particularly well. Convenient location but nothing special.
The Hungry Vegan
A decent place for takeaway bagels, but wouldn't recommend to anyone who is looking for a sit down breakfast. The choice of bagels were great, and as tasty as they sounded on the board, lacked a little flavour and seasoning. I had the smashed avo with pickled onions and shared the stru blue with a friend, both of which were underwhelming. However on the up side, the coffee was great :)
Jeremy K
My intro to Schmucks was a catered mini-bagel lunch. What an absolutely perfect catering option! The size of the bagels allows everyone to have a perfect portion size, temperature is not an issue, and it's easy to provide variety even for just a few people.

Of course many catering options have this, but what sets Schmucks a huge cut above the pack is the food quality and attention to detail. The meat was perfect, especially the braised pork and corned beef which were sensational. The additions like sauerkraut and mayo were perfectly appropriate, not too basic, not too fancy. The bagels themselves are great, and the form factor of the mini-bagels gives them a better filling:bread ratio compared to full size sandwiches IMO.

I eat a lot of office catering, and this was my favourite catered lunch of at least the last year. It's not the cheapest option at $88 for 16 mini-bagel sandwiches, but it's one of the best. Highly recommended!
Hello. Imnikki
Love a good bagel anytime of the day, and Schmucks delivered. Soft and chewy, without being too doughy, these bagels were delicious eaten with either savoury or sweet fillings.

The Luv U Lox was brimming with smoked salmon and super creamy cream cheese. The Stru Blue was also packed with tasty apple strudel, but however was a tad lighter on the cream cheese, and that would be my only complaint. Cream cheese and bagel go hand in hand, alright!
Melbourne Food Journey
The bagels are alright; they need a nice filling to taste nice. I had smoked salmon and cream cheese, which was pretty good. On its own, the bagel is too plain and doesn’t have enough texture or flavour. A good bagel should taste good on its own. They gave us a free upsize on our drinks without us asking because we had been waiting a while. I’d only go back to try their menu of filled bagels.
Sivashankar Sivam
Tasty as cream cheese sesame bagels!

They do a whole lot more kinds which turn out to be decent meals but if you are simple like me, then a bagel as a snack still does wonders!
Dana ML
Went to get a bagel... looked up the hours said they were open until 3:30. They were already closed/closing by 3:00 and would not serve me. If you're going to close at 3:00 Mon-Fri that's fine, but maybe update your hours to reflect that.
@thefoodiealgorithm
Visited Schmucks Bagels for a quick bite. I had seen on one of their pages the Blueberry Bagel with Cream Cheese & Frozen Berries and it looked awesome. I visited them especially for that reason. However my bagel looked very different to the one advertised. As you can see there aren't many berries at all. I really could only taste the cream cheese. The only positive was the actual blueberry bagel which served warm was really nice.

Disappointed and dissatisfied 😒 went to this place to get some breakfast and all I got was this. $5.50 for less then half a bowl.. what is this!!

A hidden gem in the CBD. Located in a small lane, I could only see the small “schmucks” sign before diving into the cozy atmosphere. Loved how they decor their spaces, stunning!!!
Since there were so many options, from the sweet to the savory goodness, but I decided to customize my own bagel with sesame bagel, sausage, cheese and avocado. The harmony was perfect. The ingredients were freshly made and yumm!
Definitely will come back! I remember they have the nutella mixed with some kind of grains bagel!
Scott Nanfro
I've been here a few times now. Love the Fiery Chic bagel! So good! I love that there is quite a range of options to choose from; the coffee is great; and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing as it is nestled in an alleyway between Lonsdale and Bourke.

Highly recommend this place. Whether you are after something savoury or sweet, I'm sure you will find something that tickles your fancy.

I must say the bagel that i had today was absolutely amazing! it was so delicious, had a fiery chic and love you lox- sharing with my husband. Never think i could finish the whole giant bagel, the sauce is tasty, the service is so bubbly, such an organised team. They should open another Schmucks store in Sydney. Definitely a must try!

Recently visited Schmucks. Bagels were nice but the coffee disappointed being weak & bitter (will ask for extra shot next time)
I must say, It was quite uncomfortable to sit inside & enjoy my food & coffee due to the heat inside the cafe. Will ask to takeaway next time.
Also, I noticed some yelling which I believe was from the shift manager to other staff which was quite unpleasant to hear.
Will return & give Scmucks another try soon
Delicious and freshly made bagels with different fillings. I love the classic with smoked salmon but I’ve also had the Schmoozer which has slow cooked brisket and that was so tasty. If you like bagels this place is a must try!
Lauren Thayer
Yum yum yum!
Have been here twice now and every time was delicious! The bagels are really soft and tasty, best in Melbourne. The only thing that would make it better is if they offered Horseradish like 5 & Dime.
Vanessa Hudson
The bagel that I had today lunch was delicious. Light in texture but interesting ingredients. I thought it would be dry for a rye bagel but it was so fluffy and yum! Gonna go back soon to try more.
Laurent Richer
Great range of bagels! taste delish! great service too! was a great for breakfast as we were staying in the Ibis on little Bourke St!
wish that we could visit Melbourne more often just to eat these! The Nutty Monkey was awesome!
Lyle
Had the schmoozer. It was alright.

- Bagel was very soft, basically like sliced white bread.
- Beef didn't have much flavour, definitely didn't taste smoked.

+ Bbq sauce was really nice

I suppose it depends what style of bagel you like.

I probably won't bother returning.
Chan Bui
Had a really delicious SEBB( they named all the bagels 😀). The best bagels so far! Not a huge fan of bagel but i have tp admit that the sesame one that i had was so fluffy. Gonna get back to try another one.
Juhi- Culture And Cuisine
Visit 2
Took up the management's offer and went in for another coffee. It was absolutely amazing. Really smooth and easy to drink. Unlike some other coffees, this one tasted really nice even after it got cold.

Will be back for more :)
________________________________________________________________________________

Visit 1
Coffee review!

Wasn't honestly a huge fan of the coffee. Ordered a strong coffee and it still wasn't strong enough. If you like your coffee weak-ish, Schmucks may be the place for you.

Since this is a bagel cafe, I will be sure to come back for some bagels soon :)
The Gastronaut
American style bagels with a variety of options. The bagels are separate for breakfast and All Day, which is great! The fillings have a mix of flavors. Worth trying all of them.
I.live.to.eat
bit expensive, but very yummy! we had the salmon one and the sausage and egg brekky one.
they use their microwave a lot to heat up food, and the egg was a bit weird-looking and had a weird texture (possibly coz they're microwaved?) but that sausage was really tasty! the cream cheese and onion in the salmon bagel also went really well together. recommended!
Ashleigh7713
Been looking around for some decent bagels in Melbourne after developing a passion from them while traveling in the states.

Schmucks was a minute walk from the hotel I was staying at so went to give it a go.

I loved the bagels here. The seedy grain bagel is awesome, as is the vegemite bagel.

The bagels are freshly baked and there is heaps of awesome topping options from plain and simple cream cheese all the way through to breakfast bagels and lunch bagels.

Took a couple takeaway as well so I can continue the bagel joy from home!

Only bummer was that the coffee was average.
Jericho Law
Awesome cozy cafe tuck in the corner of the building. Bagels are fantastic! Shout out to their large variety of bagels. Drop by if you're around the corner for some bagels!
Sam Jones
The 'avo our way' was amazing. I usually avoid bagels because they're too tough to eat but these were sooo different. Soft chewyness and a nice crunch. The pickled onions were yummy. Never had pickled red onion before but I'm a fan now. I might be a new regular!

Edit: this place makes my favourite coffee. It's strong, flavourful, smooth, robust, creamy, and I've not found better. My only criticism is the pricing is a touch too high for me to return regularly.
Juhi Vagher
Love love love their bagels! I come here for breakfast almost every morning and my go to are Schmucks Monsieur, Avo Smash or just a plain bagel with cream cheese!

Overall - the menu is varied, servings are generous and service is very friendly ..
Zoe Stanley
Came early morning and was greeted by lovely & welcoming servers who took all my troublesome requests. Thanks a bunch!

Great service, lovely food, ingredients put well together, fresh filling.
Emma S
I've had the same bagel from Schmucks Bagels for soon 6 months. It's an off menu item that the lovely team puts together for me everytime I visit. The sesame bagel in combination with their japanese mayo and delicious turkey is magnificent. The pickled red onions is probably my favorite topping of them all, it's so flavorful and gives a totally different flavour to the bagel. Off the on menu items the pulled beef Schmoozer has to be my favorite, and it only got better after the new chimichurri was added!

The staff also make these delicious muffins, I recommend you to definitely try them!
Nguyễn Minh Trung
Omg!!! The best bagel in Melbourne!!! Highly recommend Oyvey- the pulled pork one. Service is friendly and the bagel is really fluffy, couldnt believe its that fluffy! Will definitely come back!
YummyMummy
After a rough morning I craved comfort food... Nothing like a smoked salmon bagel to cure the blues and this one hit the spot!
I strolled in at the start of the busy lunch hour and grabbed a Luv a Lox...

The service was prompt and friendly and I watched my bagel being generously filled... While I waited I saw the servers come out from behind the counter to hand over meals instead of screeching out names - that was a pleasant change!!!
I scuttled back to work with my crisp paper bag to enjoy it and I did. It was well filled and the addition of lemon balanced the cream cheese and salt of the salmon perfectly.. The flavour was awesome! Despite an earlier experience this rye bagel was delicious!!! Crispy on the outside, chewy, fluffy and soft on the inside.... I'm so impressed with how seriously this place takes their bagels and how hard the work to make sure you're happy ..

Though it's hard to go past a classic salmon bagel the breakfast bagels look fabulous... Think I might sneak in one morning soon to try!!!
Dinermelb
I don't even like bagels... or so I thought.
I came here around 2.30pm on a weekday so it wasn't busy at all. I ordered the rye bagel with saurkraut and extra cream cheese. (Called the Sault'n'Saur)
The bagel was soft, fluffy and not too dense. The Filling was delicious. I will definitely be going back to try more.
Alex Murphy
Bagels are fresh and delicious, still can't get over the BEBB. Location is nice and tucked away in a quiet spot. Will definitely be coming back to try more
Jessicaaaa
The bagels were delicious but my goodness, I've never had such a confusing dining experience in my life. We were a group of about 8 people, who all ordered a bagel and drink each, all to dine in and all on the same table. What we got was a bunch of random drinks that weren't what we had ordered (a soy latte come out as a soy cap, a skinny latte came out as a full fat latte), some drinks came out in takeaway cups and others in glasses/mugs. My chai came in a teapot in a bowl (!?). Someone ordered one of the 'breakfast in a jar' items - fruit salad with passionfruit yoghurt - which came out in a bowl and was just plain yoghurt.

The staff seemed totally lost and incapable of taking accurate orders. It's a shame because the food was quite nice and the cafe fit-out was lovely. Perhaps I'll come back in a few months and hope that some new staff have been hired in the meantime.
Angie Bui
An ideal place for brekkie/lunch if you work on William St. Delicious and fresh bagels, with generous and tasty fillings (smokin' chick and luv u lox is a must try). The staff are helpful and super friendly. It's so good when there is such a great place nearby work.
Mel
I came at a really good time as I was one of the few people in the store so service was prompt and wonderful! Nothing to complain about as the second I walked in the door, the barista was full of compliments, explained the menu and showed me how everything worked.

I ordered the smoked salmom bagel which was perfectly toasted and balanced well with the micro herbs, onions and cream cheese. I couldn't ask for a better breakfast. She was even able to whip up a little cup of yoghurt for me when I asked. Phenomenal.
Stuart Giles
Not amazing, but overall good bagels! Be prepared to wait up to 20 minutes. A little over priced for what you get and for the time it takes. Staff could do with some training in customer service.
Katherine Chiu
RNIS was invited by Schmucks Bagels and did not have to pay for their mealSchmucks bagels are a new bagel place in the city. In fact there are so many of them particularly near the law area. But how do we tell the good from the bad?For a start my friend had his coffee and he said it was good. But upon the first time the waitress forgot that he has no sugar and so she opted to make another one for him. She offered the first one to me. I politely declined since this is Sugar free month, meaning that I cannot have processed sugars. I can still have my coffees, just no sugar.
Rebecca E
I've become a regular here as its conveniently located near my uni. Great for a quick coffee break and bagel. The chai latte with almond milk never disappoints and the bagels are always fresh.
Leila
Very tasty and fresh bagels. Will be back to try all of them. Staff member had trouble noting down my name when I ordered and then when the order was ready, he called out the bagels name instead. Of course, some confusion ensued. Possibly because the bagel name may have sounded like other customer's names who had also left their name. I'll be back though!!
Blergh!
Ok, first of all - calling these Polish bagels is a stretch. They are NOT Polish bagels. They are not even Jewish bagels. They are however good bagels. My favourite is the chicken (I forget what its called - all the bagels have cutsie names) which comes with pickled carrot and something else. Its really creamy and I have found myself not feeling the best after scoffing a whole one down. What is Polish are the accompanying ogorki (pickles) which remind me of those massive pickles you get in New York.

I love this place - its close to work and super convenient and really hits the spot when you want something yum for lunch but have no idea what.

Oh, they also make sweet bagels but I'm a savory girl.
Elyssa
Best bagels in town! I have been here pretty much daily since it opened. Delicious, fresh bagels with great fillings. Coffee is not the best though, barista doesn't really seem to care. Order a skinny and watch him pour full cream! Other than that service is great and i would recommend giving the bagels a go!
Judge Betty Cocker
HIGH COURT OF CONSUMPTION

BETTY COCKER CJ

1. There are heaps of wannabe bagel places around Melbourne, but Schmucks (the ‘Polish bagel to make your Jewish mama proud’) is in strong contention for one of the best. OY VEY!

2. Straight off the bat, there are TOO many BEAUTIFUL women working here. IT’S a TRAVESTY. Where are all the HUNKS? The MEN? The Human Rights Committee has been notified. There must be an equal number of beautiful MEN and women.

3. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Poland. The last time was in 2011 with my then 3rd EX HUSBAND. He knew how to thread a [CENSORED BY THE THOUGHT POLICE]. I miss him. NOT. HE’S SCUM. But these BAGELS ARE GOLD.

ORDERS

4. Never be afraid to order a combination of something savoury with a touch of the SWEET SWEET sugary blueberry bagel. Something like the Love You Lox on BLUEBERRY. It’s to die for. This Judge was on her [CENSORED BY THE THOUGHT POLICE] in delight.
The Swine
The Swine isn't really a bagel eater but today felt adventurous - every now and again you need to find you some strange. The Swine does love the cluster of fresh eateries in this stretch of town. The Swine did notice a gender imbalace here with a larger proportions of female office types munching on their lunchtime bagels. The Swine must concede today's bagel was very very good - beef brisket mixed with salad pesto and a zingy hot spice. Stuck in a bright alley way Schmucks appears to be a bit of a secret squirrel place. Staff are lovely, there are tables inside and out and the tastes are great. Check the phone pics this place is fab. The Swine will return here.

Spotted Schmucks through a narrow alleyway while running some errands and was I glad to have made the decision to try it out. There are numerous delicious sounding options for bagels, of which I tried one of the salmon ones. The coffee was made very nicely too. Will definitely be back with friends for a proper meal next time!
Filled With Food
My colleague passes this place everyday and said it looked quite good but never had the chance to go and try it out. So I was happy to help her out. The interior of the place was very welcoming, with bright lights and clear glass windows. I ordered the pulled pork hopping it was scrumptious but I was turned off when they microwaved my meat to heat it up. Don't get me wrong the bagel was soft and the salad added a nice kick but I would of liked the meat freshly made. Compared to brown bagels it didn't meet the standards and it was more expensive ($10.50) than a brown bagel.
Deli Pickles
Oy Vey- these are some serious tasty bagels, the fillings are juicy and delicious. I have bought several bagels from here early in the mornings and had them at lunch and each and every time they have been great - Very impressed with these bagels
The City Lane
Schmucks Bagels Melbourne is the newest of Melbourne’s ever increasing number of CBD bagel shops. Why exactly the bagel has started to become so popular in Melbourne is a question I don’t know the answer to but I’m not complaining as I do love a good bagel. Schmucks is the baby of founder Jeremy Marmur’s, who has drawn upon his Polish Jewish heritage (and his grandfather’s sense of humour), to deliver Polish bagels with a twist.
The World Loves Melbourne
Schmucks Bagels turned Melbourne’s bagel offering on its head when the Guests Lane CBD store, specialising in innovative bagel flavours and fillings, recently opened to excited bagel enthusiasts. The World Loves Melbourne was invited to the launch. Schmucks, a seriously tasty breakfast and lunch offering, is a tribute to founder Jeremy Marmur’s Jewish heritage, delivering Polski bagels – distinctly European in style – in a multitude of flavours, with a cheeky twist. Melbourne loves its bagels and Schmuck's is a welcome addition.

Top notch bagels. The rye isn't heavy or dry at all which is usually what you're dealing with. I actually went to the new docklands store but they don't have a Zomato profile yet. Staff were great and friendly. Definitely recommend the Lox n Luv, pickled onion was delicious

It's a nice place, friendly staff and atmosphere. I had the Luv a Lot bagel with the bagel, I quite like it. It's enough to satisfy the stomach. I recommend this place for everyone.
