Review Provence Artisan Bakers - Melbourne

Dani L
Such beautiful bakery with a wide range of bake goods! Sweet and savoury they have all you need for a light breakfast! The custard egg tart was extremely outstanding with crispy pastry and creamy filling, highly recommend you to try it! There are also different flavours of muffins that come in different sizes.

Saw a line outside during one of our walks in lockdown, so decided to give quite a few items a try. Love it how many come in mini sizes. We got two Portuguese tarts, while it doesn't taste like typical Portuguese tarts & a bit sweet, but I quite like the texture of the custard, the outside was crispy too. My husband likes it hot (we heated up in the oven) while I enjoyed it cold. The bread & butter pudding looked sweet, but surprisingly it wasn't. I won't mind having it again. The poppy seed muffin was moist and soft after microwaved as instructed by the lady, would like to try other flavors next time. The normal quiche was a bit salty, bacon & onion was average, our favourite was the chicken & mushroom one, can easily have a big one for breakfast. The breakfast tarts were delicious when heated up!!! Both bacon, caramelised onion, egg & mushroom tart + spinach, pine nut & feta breakfast tart were very good. That's our verdict for the place :)

Welcome to the best bakery in the area đŸ„– I am a bread FIEND and these guys do the absolute best sandwiches. I am forever in love with the amazing roast veggie with homemade herby sauce on the worlds best Turkish bread. My partner goes for the schnitzel- which is also made fresh and is ridiculously good. Not only that, but they are soooo well priced for what they are. While I will write poetry about my love for their sandwiches, they also do probably the best coffee locally alongside a couple of other faves. Of course, every single thing I’ve tried from here has been completely perfect. I love for a danish and they have such a great variety 😍 Anyways, thank you guys for being amazing. I am sure I’ll see you in the next week or so 😅😅😅

One of the best bakeries in Melbourne. The Portuguese tarts are impossibly flakey and the custard is second to none. The muffins are also a knock out. Like the Seinfeld episode, at most places only the muffin top is good. But here, the entire muffin is absolutely delicious. Moist on the inside and lovely crusts. Consistently good. There’s a reason why there’s always a line here.

Provence Bakers Camberwell is a great local cafe, very popular among locals. There’s a huge range of quiches, tarts, muffins, and other baked goods, as well as coffee. It’s a pretty small joint so there’s not much room to dine in however there are some small tables outside. Priced quite reasonable as well.

Ali and the team are super friendly, cabinet food is consistently great and Portuguese tarts are a genuine must-have Very very lucky to live within walking distance of this place - I go here just about every day Highly recommend to all!

Drove past this place and had to stop! Got coffees, muffins, danishes, sausage roll and ham and cheese wrap! All super delicious! Fantastic food! Great coffee and lovely staff and service. Highly recommend!

Excellent pastries and baked goods. Huge selection of sweet and savoury. Chocolate/nut tart is very nice, large slice lasted 3 days. Had it at home with strawberries, such a treat! Not really a fan of the soy milk used for coffee as it has sugar in it and coffee is usually bit weak, but ok. Staff are always lovely and owner is a nice guy. Clearly very hard working and doing a wonderful job.

Provence is a cute little bustling bakery cafe located along Burke Road, Camberwell. The window display is filled with many tempting pastries including muffins, danishes and tarts.
Stopping by for a quick breakfast I opted for a vegetarian breakfast tart and coffee and wasn’t disappointed. The tart filled with egg, feta and spinach was flavoursome and pastry was nice and flaky.

Overall I rate Provence 4.5 ⭐out of 5 and hope to return to try one of their Portuguese tarts.

Just eating their berry tart and it is just heavenly. The flavours and the crust short bread are just pure yum. What can I say! This place is a must.

Best Portuguese tarts in Melbourne!
Sunny Days Melbourne
This place is muffin heaven! I dropped by to pick up a few muffins on the go and they were all very impressive. They have innovative flavours which adds to the fun.

I had the apricot and fig muffin which had giant chunks of fig in it. This made it really moist and delicious. The blueberry muffin was standard fare. The bread pudding muffin was a real joy. The flavours were all there and brought back fond memories of bread puddings from yesteryear.

They certainly are artisan bakers!

Bakeries and patisseries are my idea of heaven and they don't come much better than Provence in Camberwell. With a big European influence in both the food and decor, this place is a pastry lovers paradise.

With a small but fresh space, lots of white with marble tables and Bentwood chairs; Provence has that French cafe appeal. Service is great and the staff are lovely and welcoming. The coffee is also really good.

I can never pass up an almond croissant, and these were absolutely delicious. The pastry is next level good, and the frangipane filling was sweet and creamy. We also had the best Portuguese tart that I have found in Melbourne. With a huge layer of creamy vanilla custard, it was sublime and totally addictive.

With a cute atmosphere and fabulous pastries, Provence really excell at delivering some of the best treats in town.
The Fo0die
Fo0die dined as a guest of Provence Artisan Bakers Cafe and as such, the rating does not give any consideration to customer service.

We arrived at the venue on a Sunday and found parking easily on Broadway which had all day parking on a Sunday.

The cosy Provence Artisan Bakers Cafe has been opened for 7 years with a sibling store in Hawthorn which opened a year ago. With the aim to be known as an artisan bakery, the venue is named after a small town in France. So what does artisan bakery mean? It refers to bakery goods that are made by hand using the traditional methods. Everything is baked on site fresh daily at this bakery cafe.

4.5 Having walked past this bakery at least a couple dozen times, we are so glad to have finally discovered Provence Artisan Bakers.
It’s no surprise we found ourselves in this cozy French inspired cafe that’s bustling with locals on a Sunday afternoon. Their extensive range of baked goods taste every bit as good as they look, and we’re just amazed there’s no line out the door. Yet.
Sweet.connoisseur
One of the best bakeries in Melbourne.
Delicious quiches, muffins and tarts.
I always stop by Provence Artisan Bakers for a quick breakfast. They never disappoint!
AaronN
Picked up a raspberry jam donut here, a custard donut, and a croissant. Whilst the croissant was average, the donuts were relish, with lovely dough and filling. Looking forward to returning and trying other things.

I’ve had sweet and savory pastries from Provence and they have all been delicious. The Portuguese tarts and almond croissants in particular have been superb.
Byron's Vanilla Slice Blog
I popped by this little French inspired bakery three or four years with no success of a vanilla slice. Today I wasn’t even intending to call in, but found myself in the area, and with no expectations I left with the last vanilla slice and Mrs B a jam donut (for a reasonable $9). I wasn’t sure it would survive the journey home; first in the pram next to my two year old and then in the foot well of the car. Surprisingly, plating up revealed the mountain of icing sugar had remained and all was coming up trumps. The presentation of this slice was interesting; dark layers of very rich looking flaky pastry, custard oozing out of the middle and lumpy jam present underneath the top layer of pastry. The real success story was the pastry. Absolutely beautifully baked, golden, flaky and morish. I also really enjoyed the jam; not just any old jam, but homemade (I assume) lumpy, raspberry jam that wasn’t just sweet, but also a little tart. Sadly the custard just wasn’t top notch. It was a nice loose consistency that provided an ooze with each bite, but annoyingly the vanilla content was lacking and it wasn’t a rich with egg as I’d hoped. In case you’re wondering, Mrs B took out the donut in the car and thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, a nice surprise and I would recommend.

If you’re peckish on Burke Road in Camberwell, it’s worth checking whether you’re near Provence Kitchen (919 Burke Street). Pictured is the ham and salad baguette ($10.50), which is a tasty, light treat. Also pictured is the bacon, mushroom and onion tart ($7). If you find a

Had the Portuguese tart which was quite tasty. The tart had some depth to it so you get a decent amount of custard; pastry was very flaky which contrasted with the soft and smooth custard. It was predominately sugar sweet with a mild egg custardy flavour. Might have been a little too sweet for me on that occasion but would have definitely gone well with a cup of coffee.

I finally found a bakery which is on par with a few of the good ones in Tassie. We tried the Portuegese egg tart, chicken and mushroom quiche and chicken schnitzel sandwich. They were simply divine! The egg tart was creamy and the pastry was flaky and so fresh. I will definitely be back to try the other quiches or pies and other sweets too! Service was also very good. The waitress recommended us her two favourites; egg tart and quiche. :)
Stu
This place a great selection of items for lunch or just a snack. I had a delicious chicken schnitzel roll. The staff were friendly and the service was quick .
Jean
Quiche is very nice especially when first out of oven - they cost $6. The portugese tarts at $4 is very over priced and tiny you can get something similar form Chinese bakeries in Chinatown for under $2 and unlike most reviews on here it is not the best in the world. I have been to Portugal and Macau and the Macau ones are the best and no where this expensive.
Kyeema
A secret tasty treat! We love their pastries and especially tasty breakfast pies full of bacon and eggs. I always manage a take-home bag of dark the loaf and desert.
Timinmelbourne
I called in here to grab a cake or a slice for my partner. Yes really ... hahaha it wasn’t for me haha

I got there mid - late afternoon so the selection was small. So I brought a blueberry cheesecake for $7 which looked amazing!

Apparently it tasted good too ....ok ok I may have tried a sample just to make sure it was ok haha and it was superb! Yummmmm lol

Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Happy days 😊

Little hidden secret amongst locals in Camberwell area. With only limited seats it's has the cosy feel of patisserie in the back lane of Paris. The tarts are arguably the best in Melbourne.
GerryJoe
In such a croissant-packed city, the competition for the best croissant was fierce and unforgiving. But even so, the almond croissant from this cute (read: small) bakery stands up to the rest of the competition. Why?

First, price is humanly acceptable. For approx $4, you get one full croissant, rather than half on Lune. Second, the filling was good - rich and creamy and not overly sweet. The pastry was crunchy enough, although I should say, it could be more flaky. But come on, why nitpicking? It was good enough and more importantly, close enough to my place to make me a repeat.
Angel Khong
It was a pretty cute bakery, it had French-style decor, the pastries were pretty tasty but lacked sophistication and delicateness Agathe, Bakers D Chirico or Lune have despite claiming to be ‘artisan’.
TheWhiteSherpa
How this place rate so high is a mystery. It looks nice from the outside, and the layout does vaguely remind of France. But croissants are not fresh with slightly crunchy pastry. Rather they are soft, slightly salty and do not taste freshly made in house. Cappuccino was also well under par, while the beans are good DiMattina the barista burned the milk. With so many great choices in Melbourne, I won't come back in a rush.

Omg their Portuguese egg tart is to die for - crispy shell with an ultra soft and creamy filling. They have a large variety of pastries and bread - if not for the fact that I wouldn't be able to finish everything by myself, I really would have wanted to take one of everything! They also apparently now serve breakfast but their seating area is quite small - grab and go ain't so bad though when the food is as good as it is here!
Jessica Thompson
Love the pastries & bread, especially when they are fresh out of the oven! Perfect place to grab/takeaway a lazy Sunday breakfast. The lemon & mixed berry tarts are perfect for special lunches or desserts

Having such a sweet tooth, I decided to finally try this highly rated bakery.

It was actually closed for maintenance or renovations when I came here last time. But when i saw it was opened today I knew I had to try it.

Getting a car park close by, a little bit of a walk I arrived to this wonderful French Patisserie.

With such a dominating smell of utter indulgence I decided to order a couple of donuts, muffins and a custard tart.

Now I have to admit, this place is small but does not constitute with their uplifting service, delicious pastries and delectable coffee.

I ordered a mocha, and going by the taste. Their was some top grade coffee beans and marvellous chocolate powder and or syrup that was used. The tasting notes were great, a little bitter to my palette but that's how I like it.

For the muffins, each were made with grace and exuded such a distinctive fresh taste and lovely fluffy interior.

For the donuts (jam and custard) they were filled with pure virtue and were abundantly flavoursome.

Now for my favourite thing at this bakery, the Portuguese Tart. This tart perspired such a creamy interior, crumbly pastry and mouthwatering custard that I have never come across. I only ordered one and what a mistake I made.

If anyone wants to try this place, the Portuguese Tart is what you must order. Hands down the best thing I've ever consumed.

I can't believe I had never been to this place although I've been a local for 3 years! Had breakfast there with the hubby the other day. It's a really tiny place with very little sitting space but it was sunny and we sat on a little table outside, on the street. This place doesn't serve brunch, it's more of a bakery with sweet and savoury pastries. The quiche and savoury tarts were very nice. Coffee was great. Almond croissant was delicious but too rich. If you have one I’d recommend sharing it. They make big quiches/tarts too which you can bring home to share - great for a lunch/dinner with guests!

Highly recommended. A cute little bakery right in Hawthorns hub, small but this does not decrease the quality and great service.

Environment 8, great rustic environment, loved, but just a tad small.

Service 10, they were super nice and very helpful when picking from their awesome range of pastries.

Taste 10, we got a bacon, egg, mushroom and cheese quiche. It was only $5 or $6 and was packed with so many ingredients i don't know how they make money. I enjoyed my latte also.

Quality 10, the bacon was bacon, not ham, i was very happy with this as most places just use ham.

Serving size 10, great size, packed full.

Total 48.

I hate sounding super Caucasian but I highly recommend this places for a great bite to eat, this is going to be my regular weekly place to have my breakfast on Saturday's.

Info on my reviews:
My rating scores are out of a total of 50, 8 for environment, 10 for service, 10 for taste, 10 for quality, 10 for serving size and price.

The cuteness of the building is super inviting. The ceiling, ceiling lights, walls, huge glass mirror add to the vibe, kinda feels like downtown France. Bacon & Egg quiche = amaze balls. Coffee, slightly bitter but almost ace. Seems a little jammed in, a tight squeeze if it's a peak time. Would return again.

Been to Provence several times and it never fails to satisfy my pastry craving.

Had the bacon egg quiche, custard donut and almond croissant with a soy flat white. They were all just nothing but perfect! The only reason why I gave a 4 is because the coffee might be just a little too strong for me.
Happytalent.66
It has been my favourite bakery since 2015. When I was living nearby, the Portuguese egg tart was Saturday must to eat! They did vanilla and fruit slice randomly which was terrific! Even I moved, I still drive by to crab some Danish and muffin. The only thing I am waiting is still the vanilla slice. Hope they will be back soon!
Maureen
Always my favorite place to get my sunday breakfast and coffee. I always get their bacon and onions quiche. Their custard doughnuts are also delicious. Friendly service too. I'm glad it is so closed to where I live.
Ben Turner
It's all so good. A local bakery, with high quality everything - custard tarts, sandwich rolls, breakfast tarts etc...

I hear they are opening a breakfast place nearby too soon. My waistline won't take much more of this.
Gotham
Almond croissant *drool*. Jam and custard donuts *yes please*. I'm sure the savoury things are just as great too, but my resolve always fails when I come in here, and as a jam donut addict I invariably end up buying the same things over and over again. Who has room for salad?
MF
Quiches was good, pear danish was just okay, theres a slightly sour taste on the poached pears on the danish, and it was just okay. Chocolate danish was standard. Overall good, will go back for their quiches.

Tucked behind outdoor seats and umbrellas, this beautiful little French Bakery is easily missed.

Serving sweet and savory fluffy pastries, home made cakes and beautiful coffee. Their Portuguese tarts are the best I've had.

Small amount of indoor and outdoor seating available. Great Service.

Food was amazing and quick to come out. We got the ham sandwich and the roast beef on freshly made bread and it was delicious. The coffee was well made and there are so many delicious cakes it took us a while to choose. The shop is a little small with not many seats so don't bring a large crowd but if you have finished looking at the Camberwell market and want a bite to eat on a Sunday this is a great little location.
Andries Van Wyk
So small you'll miss it, but it is not to be missed. Stunning little café with amazing coffee and pastries. The hot chocolate is full bodied and not too sweet; the cake also bot to sweet and the breakfast ball is delicious! The owner is also super friendly.
The only critique is that the shop is too small and cramped.
J0yy173
A piece of patisserie heaven in French setting. That ham, mushroom and egg cruffin was amazing and so tasty and the croissant pastry just fell apart. My friend also loved her vegetarian cruffin. The Portuguese custard tart had a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar - a great touch that added extra flavour to what was already a fantastic dessert. Happy taste buds and happy bellies.

The best donut I have ever had.. Much more better than other shop in Melbourne! donuts were actually pretty chewy and inside full filled with berries jam! Quiches doesn't surprised me.. Le Paul's quiches are better.

Very very nice service as well as all the pastries made in here. That is fantastic and amazing. Very very very very very very very very nice
Tony
Very delicious pastries (both sweet and savoury), especially a rather delightful almond croissant. Quiches are delicious, and the lemon tart is also yummy. Beautiful little French patisserie with decent coffee to boot.
Jennifer Barnes
I go to this cafe whenever I am in the area. The bread is freshly made and so are the cakes. It is rare these days to find a cafe that sells such wonderfully fresh food that is made with quality ingredients. It is like having a little bit of France without the long flight. This is a wonderful cafe.

Thank you, dear staff who were working today. It was a joy to watch and listen to u talk and assist your customers as we are our lunch today - particularly the care and attention for the elderly lady who came in. The Portuguese Tarts were sublime, and I loved how you brought them out as we finished our delicious lunch .. Thank u for creating a feeling of loyalty and care in this busy world! 🌿

The best almond croissant we had in Melbourne, accompanied with great savory pastries (which is pretty hard to find in Melbourne). Good service and nice place to hang.
Sambotto
OMG best custard tart on earth. And a wicked coffee to accompany it, heaven. This place is a little gem, with everything made fresh daily on site.
Adela McHenry
Great coffee, excellent service and amazing pastries! And let's not forget the bread, nice and crunchy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Perfect!
AH
Very good rye sourdough, as it was crisp on the outside, yet so soft on the inside! It was perfect once toasted! The blueberry muffin was good, but perhaps a little doughy. Service could be a bit warmer, but with bread this good, it was just an afterthought.
Hannah T
A spur of the moment stop for some breaky and a coffee and I hit the jackpot! A Portuguese Tart and a coffee and I fell into a little piece of heaven! Divinely smooth custard with vanilla bean and a creamy skinny latte. Perfect start to a Saturday or any day.
Alexandra Rowan
Amazing patisserie!! Everything we had from here was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately we didn't grab some bread this time, and kicking myself for it. Can't wait to go back and pick up a sourdough baguette !
E.S
Literally the best bakery I have ever been to. Complete with excellent, friendly service and very reasonable prices. I get excited on the walk there in anticipation of the delicious egg and bacon roll I'm about to eat.
Urbanette
Although it is expensive, these guys have the best almond croissants in Melbourne!

Provence Artisan Bakers, in my mind is a little hidden gem tucked up the top of Burke St just away from the hubbub of Camberwell junction. It has a very narrow shop frontage so it is a case of blink and you will miss it. The sourdough is to die for. It is the right density and chewiness and tanginess. I'll be frank, that is the only thing I have. Sourdough sandwich. I might switch up the fillings on various visits but the order is essentially the same.
Chasing A Plate
What do I miss most about working in Camberwell The chicken schnitzel sandwiches and custard doughnuts from Provence. Hands down. This tiny French styled cafe is refreshingly chic, serves up good coffee, fresh (sometimes made to order if you ask nicely) wraps and sandwiches and moreish pastries and sweet treats. I had been harping on about Provence for over a year before TBS finally got to try it for himself. A quick lunch between errands saw us duck into Provence and share a chicken schnitzel sandwich and polish off a custard doughnut each. First of all, the bread at Provence is very good. The foccacia that the chicken schnitzel is served in, once toasted has a great amount of bite and crunch to it- but not so much that you cut your mouth on the hard crispy edges. The foccacia is stuffed with salad leaves, thin slices of tomato, cheese, golden chicken schnitzel and then drizzled with an aioli like sauce. The chicken is never dry, the salad perfectly proportioned and the aioli sa

Someone with my portion control issues should not be allowed into anywhere that distributes baked goods. Its dangerous. Especially when it is a patisserie. I have managed to somehow avoid the Provence Artisan Bakery on Burke Rd since I moved to the Camberwell locale as I knew that as soon as I stepped inside I’d be hooked. If you could purchase the scent of bread baking I would wear it every day. That’s how much of an addict I am. I finally gave in last weekend and ended up going twice in 24 hours. Coffee was great and super strong as requested and I also have a new best friend, Mr Almond Croissant. I asked the staff what they would recommend as I was about to order one of everything and Mr Croissant was selected. Although it bordered on being a tad too sweet, the almond meal enveloped in scrumptious pastry, covered in slivered almonds makes me want to run there now and buy another. Definitely returning to try everything else, but the Almond Croissant is definitely my new staple item.
Daniellelit66
I just love visiting this cafe on my way to work. The service and friendly staff are excellent and the food is to die for! The best coffee in all of Melbourne and the hot chocolates are amazing too!

C'est formidable. Delicious bread and simply amazing pastries - try the apple tarte tatin, custard tarts, or mille feuille. You will not be disappointed.

Favourite brunch!. Excellent Service, scrumptious orange & almond cake, perfect almond croissant. Reasonably priced. Couldn't be happier!

Better Than Most in France. All. Just visited France for 3 weeks and was disappointed to find that there was no almond croissant better than the one here. Some seriously great food to be had. Whenever i am passing through Bourke road i have to stop here.
Seriously the nicest staff and owners here, very personalized service. They work extremely hard week in, week out to produce what they produce the yummy food they have and they deserve the very loyal customer base that they have.
MMM
Great bakery, pastries and coffee - multigrain loaves and Portuguese tarts to die for! Love the fact that it's tiny when I get a seat :) hate it when I don't :(
Troy Allemand
By far the best bakery in Melbourne!! Can't say how great their bread and pastries are....
Mark
Hot cross bun and coffee made my day on Sunday . Hot cross bun was nice and soft and coffee had a great texture . Will be back for sure ...
Debra Moroney
Awesome Bakery. This is without a doubt one of the BEST bakeries in Melbourne, try the chicken and avocado foccacias WOW yum and a huge serving. The chocolate tart is to die for! Every thing here is delicious...
Sarah
Best almond croissant EVER!. They have the most amazing almond croissant ever! Its seriously my favourite! Love how textured the pastry is, complimented by this sweet almond filling! Amazing!
Brunching Around
Delicious sandwiches. Our work has bought sandwiches and tarts, pastries from here a few times. Always delicious, full of fresh gourmet fillings and dense artisanal bread (house-made, I assume). Soo good, especially the roast vege sandwich. Also, the smoked salmon with feta is very flavoursome. I think it gets forgotten, tucked away from the junction. Which is a shame, because it deserves a lot more attention!

Wonderful Bakery. Gorgeous little place on Burke rd. Staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered a latte and I was not disappointed! Creamy texture, perfect temperature. Just lovely. Highly recommend!

This bakery truly seeks the best ingredients. I hear they may soon be using The Freeranger products. This will generate a buzz with customers that look for a quality taste experience.

JP & MELBS - Visit 10,001. Still Loving Provence. Service is always Impeccable, the staff are lovely! I am addicted to every single sweet and savoury item. Special mention to the Custard Cream Donut-type pastry. AMAZING.

Provence ur the BEST!!!!!. This local café has recently reopened under new management. As a local I can say that the coffe is great and the pastries are fresh, they keep me going back almost everyday! Definitely worth a visit

-----02 Jul, 2012-----

Provence Bakers open 6 Days. THIS SHOP HAS BEEN UNDER NEW MANAGMENT FOR THE PAST 9 WEEKS!!!!

Pastry Heaven. Finally, a bakery deserving of some recognition in Camberwell. It's under new management and only been re-opened for a week or two. The bread and pastries are so fresh, sometimes still warm out of the oven. The vanilla slice beats any vanilla slice in Melbourne and I have tried a few...The pastry was crisp and light and the vanilla cream just perfect. I have to go back to try all the other yummy looking stuff! The service is warm and friendly, the coffee is great ...can't wait to go back for some more.

LOVED IT! Best Bakery Out there! :D. I LOVED IT! As a local, It was without a doubt, the best bakery around Camberwell. Going to Provence with a friend for Christmas Eve celebration was no mistake at all! We both returned today in hope for some more delicious treats, but sadly it was closed as it is Christmas Day. :(
After reading reviews on what others thought was their 'appauling service', i am slightly dumbfounded. As the other reviewers have recognised, the new owners have only just took over the bakery, and to produce such great food, the wait is worth it. Cut them a bit of slack.
OVER ALL! LOVED IT! Highly recommended :)
Take away, eat in... all worth it :)

This bakery has changed management, the owners prior were fantastic. Had a cooked breakfast with 3 other people and each meal came our seperatly and 10 mins apart, had to ask to actually get our drinks after 20 mins wait on soft drinks. Food was ok but terrible service, if people take over a cafe they shoud learn how to run it, this place was great but had been spoilt!
Panda
So far i've only tried the chicken snitzchel toasted focacia and vanilla slice.. It was delicious!! I would definately come back for moreee!! :)

Check prices before you buy. I need to do a service to my neighbours. Do not eat in Do not eat in. This establishment must be under new management, I have read all the reviews and I am a local but this establishment is ridiculous for eating in. The service is appalling no receipt provided so questionable pricing, no price on items. When the food does come out eventually it is good the quality of the produce is good. This establishment is only good for take away nothing else BUT ALWAYS ASK WHAT THE PRICES ARE DO NOT ORDER BEFORE ASKING FOR THE PRICE.

UPDATE- CLOSED APRIL 2012. An East Hawthorn god-send. The new proprietors' standards were so far from the original owners that they failed miserably, the people of Booroondara spoke & now it's closed, or in the process of a refurb under new owners to become something else. SUCH a shame, this place was fantastic when the old owners were running the place.

Was very much over Replete - the wait, the prices and stale menu.

Provence is excellent; have tasted most things on the menu and sampled many things to go. Sandwiches, pastries, spinach on baguette with cheese & lemon mayonnaise, it's all divine!

The great thing is, the food is top quality and the prices reasonable, so you don't walk out feeling as though you've done the budget for the day and of course, makes you want to go back for more.

Provence is awesome. My only complaint about Provence is they are not open on Monday's and Tuesday's.. However, if this must be the case for them to continue providing such delicious and sandwiches, so be it!

DĂ©licieux!. Very quaint (read - small) artisian bakery. Per other reviews, they do a great breakfast and their bread is truly to die for. Recommend getting in before lunchtime on w/ends if you want the good stuff, there's normally a (fast moving) line that runs out the front of the bakery! Great coffee too!

Best Croissants I've had in Melbourne to date!

Yummy!. This is a small but very quaint and beautiful little bakery
cafe on Burke Road in Camberwell.
I have been there a few times now and i will definitely be going back for more. The food is exceptional, and we just tried their breakfast today and should say it was probably one of the yummiest i have had out in a long time.
Can recommend highly....

I feel like I'm about to divulge highly classified information. For Provence Artisan Bakers, in my mind is a little hidden gem tucked up the top of Burke St just away from the hubbub of Camberwell junction. The service is also excellent. The kitchen was very accommodating when informed of my no sugar diet and they suggested what dressings I could have with my ham and salad sanger. A lovely pot of berry green tea (full of antioxidants!) to go with my sanger. There is also a vast array of French style baked goods as evidenced here. Verdict: we liked it a lot. Overall Do seek this place out, you won't regret it. I wager the bread here will convert any die hard Atkins devotee to the wonder of carbs.
