Review Sacred Alley Espresso Bar - Melbourne

Split the Bill
Great spot for coffee. I ordered a takeaway cappuccino, coffee was strong with sweet notes. Service was quick, great decor. Will definitely come here again for coffee or to eat.

Very good place to have a business catch up. Not too loud and not too quiet. The coffee is very good and the main host has a lot of personality! One of my go-to places to bring visitors and also a great place to just pop in for a quick take out coffee.

Grabbed a take away coffee so that's all I can talk to. I was surprised to get a DUKES espresso coffee bean, and pleasantly so. They make a better coffee then Dukes coffee in Flinders lane. But personally it's not my favourites coffee flavour despite being perfectly made.

Very good and consistent coffee. Good selection of non espresso coffee like pour over and cold drip. Fast and friendly service whether you're taking away or sitting down.

Wow, finally a burger patty without any industrial after-tastes - you can really feel mince texture. Ordered A Lot Burger, which is really a lot - you can split it in two and have patty & cheese sandwich and then egg & bacon sandwich :) Very nice service - brought me a water and poured to the glass right away. Not crowded, after 2pm, buy I guess it's like in the most CBD diners at this hour.

Good coffee, decent food and great service.

Nice venue, good coffee (if a touch on the milky side). I had a flat white. Worth checking out. Will be back as the food looked good.

Great food & coffee at a good price. Portions pleasantly exceeded expectation & the service was warm & friendly. Would recommend.

Lacklustre coffee.

Lem got the latte and was disappointed with the whole smoothness aspect of it. Furthermore, it fell short in terms of value and taste when compared to the competition that exists literally next to them.

Tim went for the long black and it was slightly burnt and the flavour profile was very mild. Better options available elsewhere.

Dont @ me.

[Coffee Only}

Strong latte - coffee had good strength and a balance of bitterness and caramel.
The milk wasn't foamed too well though, as the latte had a thin, watery consistency.
However in terms of flavour, it was still good.
Beans supplied by Dukes.

i just got takeaway lunch from Sacred Alley. I can't fault the coffee but i was very disappointed with the Ruben sandwich. It didn't come as described on the menu and as such nothing like a Ruben. No pickle, sauerkraut or Russian sauce. Instead I got coleslaw and a smear of ketchup! sauerkraut and pickle are what make a Ruben so great! the service and speed is very good though but i'll just be getting coffee next time. :(

Sacred Alley is a decent cafe which is located close to work. This makes heading for a coffee in between meetings always a viable option - especially with the quick service. Staff deliver friendly warm vibes. Coffee is alright.

A modern and stylish café in a laneway off Collins Street, jostling with other adjacent cafes and bars. I had lunch here with a friend, taking a lane side table, as you do. The menu had a reasonable number of vegetarian items to choose from, and I selected a frittata with salad, which was okay, perhaps lacking a little something, but nevertheless was filling and well presented. The coffee was very good. It is a bustling laneway in a busy area, so well patronized particularly during the breakfast and lunch times. Inside it is swish, with communal tables and stools, and plush booth-like compartments, and stylish suspended lighting. The service was good- welcoming and quick, and the dining experience was enjoyable.

Came in for brunch, ordered the veggie breakfast with scrambled eggs, it was pretty good but the service was better with all the staff members being super friendly. Will be making a return.

Great food, fantastic coffee, super friendly service. Healthy alternatives, and reasonable prices. Can't recommend highly enough! Staff all remembered me from my first visit and greeted me by name. My new favourite!

I can vouch for the coffee here. Have been coming in for over a year now because it's consistently good. Tried the batch brew today and it was a winner!

I was looking for a good coffee in the city this morning and I came across the place. I like the name and it sounded like I'd get a good coffee here.

Unfortunately that wasn't the case. I asked for a double shot skinny latte, and I got a really watery coffee.

This was the worst coffee that I've ever had in the city. It was so bad I couldn't finish it which was a first for me.

I asked for no lid so I could drink it straightaway which obviously upset the barista as he threw my lid in the bin and gave me a stern look.

I was very impressed with the polite and friendly staff. I came here on crutches and the staff were very accommodating, and the food was great. I had the fritters and poached egg + chai latte.
The Forkwit
The burgers are better at Hungry Jacks. However, if you want a kick ass sandwich....this is the place to go. I'd recommend the chicken schnitzel. It has chicken in it.
The Swine
The Swine asks - Q. when is a bacon and beef burger - not a bacon and beef burger???...A. when you order this at Sacred Alley. Yes the Swine is disGRUNTled about this! Should be a great value meal - the bacon and beef cheese burger and chips - for 10 bucks.. but OOOPSIE they forgot the bacon. Twice!!!!? SQUWWEEEAL!! We only noticed a couple of bites in...oh dear...what to do??? 5 of us attended - 2 of us were short changed our bacon. What the!???. Yes the Swine flagged this with the waiteress - quite politely. How embarrassment! So what is the etiquette here???..a fresh burger or a follow up slice of bacon on a plate on its own?? After a substantial wait the Swine did recieve a slice of bacon on a plate - on its own. Burger was half gone ...and cold- the Swine was patient...and hungry!!!. Franko C who was also missing his bacon had to further squeal as only one bacon came back from the kitchen. Booooooooo! FAIL. Yes 2 hungry unsatisfied customers...the others at our table were amused by the dilema...amazed at the woeful service. Okay the Swine is foregiving...sh#t happens. The biggest disappointment here was there was absolutely no apology...BOOOOOO!!! ...At first, our table let the No Apology slide, but in retrospect this is woeful customer service and a poooo experience! To be fair the Swine has been to Sacred Alley before and i'ts been much better. Well outside of the same sandwich being charged a different price each time. Ya Gotta Hate that@!! On reflection today - seperate bacon in follow up to a Bacon-less beef burger is just unacceptable! The Swine is very disappointed ..and management of Sacred Alley should be to. It's the little things that make all the difference - and these were missed. Massive FAIL

They have a variety of salads here - I love their Greek salad, with the olives, feta and ocean lettuce. Good coffee also.
This was located just behind our office, so was idea for catching a quick but fancy lunch.

I have been ordering corporate catering from Sacred Alley for about 6+ months now and we could not fault the service or the food. Andrew, Kate and their team have provide such exceptional service that we could not go anywhere else. The food is always fresh and the coffee is great! I absolutely love their home made schnitzels and their lamb wraps are delicious, not to mention the caramel slice. They are an extremely friendly group of people and its always a pleasure dealing with this cafe.
Stevotango
One of the best cafe in the city. Great foods, coffee and environment! Highly recommended for breakfast, lunch or just cup of coffee with your mate.

Went to this place just for a coffee. It's a little bit hard to find (I managed to walk past the alleyway first), but it's a cute street with a few café's. The service was good, the coffee was good. I don't know about the food though.

Have previously worked around the corner I know this place well. This place has since been refurbished but the food is the same and the staff are quite friendly.

I tended to end up here for the salad selection or something basic from warm food area. You are given very generous servings and I don't rightly remember finishing ever a dish. For $12 a dish not bad going.

Would I say the food is amazing no. But it's fresh and tasty and suitable for the purpose that it's a place to sit and eat with a friend/ colleague.

The coffee here is outstanding, made lovingly with great care. I had been before and just had their apricot toast which was delicious and a generous serving. Today I was after breakfast, the staff are just lovely very attentive and service is efficient and friendly - I ordered the sacred which is sourdough, avocado and poached eggs - it arrived in record time and looked delicious, so when I cut into the poached eggs and found them hard I was a little disappointed but no problem I could overlook that, however I couldn't overlook the amount of lemon in the avocado mix, I understand that it is required to keep the avocado fresh but when you try it and it's so lemony it makes the dish inedible perhaps it's too much. I can't stand conflict so left the meal barely touched and said it was fine but I must admit I left disappointed and Hungry ! Staff are great coffee is drool worthy ..... But think I will stick to toast here !

One of the best coffee in the CBD!! Usually many shop's take away coffees aren't that tasty with plastic flavour or sometimes too weak. but this coffee is amazing with takeaway cup! flavourful and enough strength:) SO GOOD!

Best coffee I've tried in this laneway! Beans by Dukes, I used to love Dukes at Ross House when I worked up that way in the city, now I'm near Equitable Place, Sacred Alley has become my new morning coffee haunt. Consistently fabulous coffees, the baristas here take their roles seriously and you can tell put their souls into each coffee.

The coffee machine itself is pretty amazing!

Food is unreal too - Sacred Alley's salad bar is out of this world - they have at least 8 fresh salads on offer every day, made by the head chef in-house. My favourites are the beetroot and broccoli, and the atlantic salmon, potato and caper. Burgers here are also unreal - and stupidly cheap - a burger with the lot, with chips, is only $13!!! Heaps cheaper than macca's new "taste"/create your own burger thing!

Sometimes I ring ahead to make sure the salad I want is there, or ask for it to be put away if i'm going to be in late - the staff are always so accommodating, and Andrew, the new owner, goes out of his way every time to please every customer. Could not speak more highly of this place!

This is one of the best coffee houses down this lane way and Ive tried all of them since I've worked next to this lane the past 5 years. All the staff are friendly and always has a smile on their face.

Expensive!. Oh WOW! $9 for one piece of toast with avocado and some parsley. Delicious but not so sure I got my money's worth. Looks like they have a great menu and my food was tasty but it's very overpriced.

Amazing portion sizes, delicious food, great service! Brilliant!

Just solid overall.. Hard to fault the service, the coffee and the food.

Good Coffee. I was just staying across the road at the Causeway 353 and needed time to kill before a meeting. This place had fantastic coffee. Would recommend.

Great city lunch. Recently my partner and I happened along this great cafe tucked away in a nice little lane in the centre of the city. Thankfully we got there just before the lunch rush and managed to score a table in the lane, not long after the lane and cafe were pumpnig, a hive of activity.
The staff were attentive and friendly and good coffee!
I ordered the bacon burger and my partner the steak sandwich both of which were great, perfect for lunch.
The only draw back was the option of salad or chips, I would have preferred chips on the side and salad on the burger, overall though a great experience and will definitely be back.

Great Food. Recently dined at this Café, although small, a very busy place during lunch, (great coffee), staff brilliant but under pressure during busy times. Ordered an amazing Pie Slice with Salad, both superb!
Will definitely be back, credit to the staff for friendliness and service.

VERY disappointing. I dined at this cafe today, it looked busy, and the decor was really nice. Upon entering the store i realised how poky the restaurant is... good if you enjoy ducking and weaving and walking in single file. I ordered the calamari, which came with chips OR salad... the calamari and chips both came out very dry and dark, VERY overcooked. the positive was it came with a lemon wedge, another negative was there was no side condiment. VERY AVERAGE, would not go again. A shame, as the front staff were quite friendly.

Had an okay burger with the lot ($10) and a very tasty serve of salt and pepper calamari which was served on one of the best salads we have had to date in this fine city.
