Review Bay 101 - Melbourne

Andrew Goh
This is a family run restaurant. You see many familiar faces in the restaurant seems that the patrons visited here so frequently. The food is fantastic especially the calamari with salad and the seafood spaghetti in Mariana sauce was awesome. It was so authentic and good enough for 3 pax. All are good except the waitress kind of rude and impatient. You don’t raise your hand but wait for her to come to you! She can be nasty.. but lovely food!

Freshly cooked as you wait. Try get in early on peak times. This place can get busy. A pleasant cafe experience. Well priced, 5 star atmosphere at a price you can afford. More casual cafe feel. Great coffee. I had a cheese & tomato toastie just the way I like it. (Tomato not too hot - not too cold) under $10. Some quick take-away options as well! Smashed Avo, omelette & Eggs Benny were a hit.

We were here daily or multiple times a day but some days you get friendly service from the gentleman but unfortunately other days you get rude service and inconsistent coffees from the female and your coffee may be burnt milk or barely warm milk and she only half fills the cup. I have to say I keep walking if I see her making coffees and now I’ve found other locals for my daily coffees that are just pleasant to deal with even if it’s walking a little further. Pizza and food is average and I don’t think the owner us there or cares. Last few times there have been really disappointing and over charged.

Open at 7am, perfect for arriving by Spirit of Tasmania, excellent coffee and breakfast, wonderful staff. Very reasonable price. What could go wrong? Nothing!

The coffee is great here, the baristas are wonderful and genuinely friendly. The food us delicious. I go here during the week however there is an older woman in there on sundays who is a bit off putting though, she is very loud and has a truly agressive way of speaking with the staff in front of customers, she always gets our coffee order wrong even though it is the same every time. We will not go in if she is there. Shame as its one of our good local places.

Another fabulous lunch here. Came here with a friend and had the lunch special we ordered a main meal and glass of wine for $20. I had the calamari salad my friend had the chicken salad. Both were great portion sizes. We finished off with coffees and tears from the cabinet. I had an ice latte which came out in a milkshake glass!!!! And we shared the pear tart and house made little Nutella biscuits.

Had the Margarita. Simple traditional flavour. Well cooked. Fantastic base. Great value as it was only $10 for a large. Great place for a sit in lunch. Staff were genuinely friendly. Went down a treat with an on tap Italian beer. Tasted like a fancy VB. So glad I found another good pizza restaurant.

Went here for a quick dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the food. Had the rocket salad and the Calabrese pizza. The base of the pizza was nice and thin. Although a bit wet in the centre the base was very crusty and tasty towards the outside. Good portion size and reasonably priced. Would go there again!

The dough was really soggy and the mushrooms on the pizza were very watery which probably added to the soggy dough. I think if you are charging prices as if was quality pizza, I’d probably start by getting quality ingredients.

The buffalo mozzarella was really great but costs $6 to add on, that’s quite steep. The leg ham was also nothing to talk about, really bland and no flavour. Really bad pizza.
Some Bunee Loves Food
Nutella croissant was really crispy and full of Nutella spread inside. Really yummy and not too oily.

The toasted panini had egg, bacon and cheese inside. The melted cheese had a strong flavour and is really nice when eating with the egg and bacon.

Love this place, such good Italian food as well as so cosy and comfortable! The Nutella Pizza is to Devine, always there for my sweet tooth. Would recommend

What we ordered, we did not get, instead we got excuses and poor service and a bill which we shouldn’t have been charged for.

My absolute favorite place for dinner in Port Melbourne! The lamb ragu gnocchi is particularly amazing and the staff are really friendly.
Lole Lole Lole
They have express lunch special. $20 for pizza/pasta/salad and a drink which is pretty affordable for the area. I got myself the parpadelle Al ragu. Served with bread to mop up the sauce. The pasta was nice, cooked just right. The sauce lacked flavour but still enjoyable to eat. That bread though, yum! The serving wasn't big but wasn't tight either. Maybe because I had the pasta, it made me somewhat full. Extra spoonfuls more and it would've been the perfect portion. Overall, good but not wow.

Great service, didn't have yo wait long at all for a table and very kid friendly. Breakfast was good, coffee isn't that great more like very very watery. But good place for a quick meal.

was very very happy with my lunch here!! just got a basic margarita pizza and chips to share with a friend. There was a little wait on the food and another table that came in after us got there food before us but it was well worth it because the pizza was so yummy!!! would defiantly recommend.

Great pizza’s , dropped in here on a Friday night with friends. Really liked the food , try the Italian Menebraea beer on tap !! And good coffee as dessert selections. Very reasonably priced.

Not a bad place. Food is decent. Love all the Nutella. The only drawback i have is to do with service. Everytime I've sat outside it has taken a while to get a waisters attention for another coffee. Other than that i recommend. I still come back.

Gone DOWN hill... I ordered Lamb ragout pasta, no lamb in dish and the crap packet pasta was so hard very undercook. Tried a very dried out lemon meringue tart to try and save the night but no.. Worst meal out in a long time and it was a birthday dinner out.

Read a few ( not so nice reviews ) I am a customer at Bay 101 since they open . It is a amazing place , extremely clean , happy smiling staff ready to go beyond and above anyone's expectation . Food has great flavor and always hot ( never got a cold meal ) . Their service is so so fast I wander if they running on Duracell battery !
My grandson gets so much attention there that every time he visits me he wants to go to the " epic " Bay 101 . Great place for families or just catch up with friends !
Ang
Ordered home delivery. Considering it was a Friday night only waited 45 min. Pizza was so soggy that you couldn't even lift it without it falling apart. $$$$ 25 A pizza I thought was quite expensive. Better had elsewhere. It wasn't anything to rave about. Probably would get a pizza from here again !

Trying to find a restaurant around Port Melbourne serving good, wood fire pizza on a Monday is near impossible but this place is open! The pizzas here are delicious and the margarita $10 weekday special is a great deal. Cocktails are expensive and nothing that special about them but the service is great. There was a sign saying all cocktails were $13.50, which got us through the door, only to realise it wasn't "all" cocktails (this was a bit disappointing). Overall, a great place to eat!
Frank Collins
After having the worst and most atrocious frappe up the road, I wanted something to neutralise the taste and asked for a vanilla milkshake.
Here is what I got for $6.50. That is the size of an iced coffee, not a milkshake. I don't expect cheap in Bay Street but that is extortion. It wasn't even very good; in fact, it was substandard
Never again.
Taylor Gerada
Legitimately average. We ordered the avocado smash and the Italian eggs over uber eats and it was literally just OK, nothing great. My boyfriend said his breakfast was cold which is not fault of Bay 101 but my Italian eggs were just... the Ragu was so flavourless, would've killed them to actually season it with some salt and pepper? It tastes like they just warmed up some passata and chucked it in. If I wanted a sauce like this I'd go Sophia's in Frankston.

Staff are always welcoming and attentive, great place to grab a takeaway coffee on the way to the beach.

Had breakfast here and after reading the reviews we were a bit anxious. Luckily we were pleasantly surprised. I had eggs benedict and my partner had the breaks burger. Both were delicious. Poached eggs were perfectly cooked and the black brioche was lovely. Coffee was great too! Overall a great breaky in a beautiful space. No complaints here.

Recently visited, waiters were somewhat kind, extremely novice & food average. Service was appalling especially on the manager's end. Received my lasagna after 1hr, was told I didn't order lasagna & only received it 10 minutes later then usual serving times, which was garbage as I received it 15 minutes after I had to confirm whether my food was coming. By then I'd already waited around 45 mins.

Funniest thing the manager acted like he was doing me a favour by wiping off $3.40 on the bill, when I told him I wouldn't like to pay for the slop of lasagna.

NEVER AGAIN!

Ciao Grazie :)

Our first visit here and it was delicious. Pizzas have beautiful, authentic flavours. We had the Diavolo and added fresh basil and it was fab. Lasagne was yummy but just a bit small for a main but tasty. Will come again!

We had some takeaway pizzas from here last week. I didn't pick the pizzas up, so can't comment on the venue itself or the service.

In general the pizzas were good, without being exceptional. The highlight being the pork sausage, mushroom & caramelised onions pizza. That was well balanced and incredibly flavoursome. The other pizza's we had were a bit hit and miss. Probably nothing to do with the quality of ingredients, or the way they were good, more that wood-fired pizzas tend to go cold / soggy quickly, so can easily happen with takeaway if not eaten right away.

I'd try again, but would probably advise anyone to stay away from the takeaway option and eat in the restaurant itself.
Adam Newton
Without exception the worst food I have ever had. Ordered 2 takeaway pasta dishes. A carbonara and a bolognaise. In both cases the pasta was clumped together, raw and when pulled apart still covered in raw flour. For this reason there was no sauce penetration into the clumps of raw pasta. My carbonara was incredibly dry and the sauce had split. It was simply scrambled eggs. Furthermore two slices of bread were provided. They were both stale. On top of it all my wife is pregnant and has now consumed raw egg pasta which is not medically advised. I will never consider this place as a food option ever again.
Pvtaylor63
Called in for a quick eggs and bacon in toast. Coffee great, as is service, sadly this is where the good review ends....the scrambled eggs were more like a bad omelette, the bacon not great, with one price of white tip top bread....with so much competition in The area I'm not sure I'd be back, lift your game guys...

Best coffee in Port Melbourne 👌🏻very friendly staff. Food is great and always quick. Great to dine in or grab something on the go for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Love this place, the pasta is always delicious (strongly recommend the meatball pasta) the pizzas are great and the service is good. The deserts aren't the greatest but still not bad. Love this place.
Also they have discounts on specific days for pizza and pasta. Good stuff.
Colossal Chow
Nice, cosy cafe with friendly staff. Popped by for a few quick dessert - tiramisu, gluten-free blueberry cheesecake, and my personal favourite one - pear cake (can't remember the name of it :p) - which was so soft and tasty. Will definitely come back here next time to try their freshly-made pizzas.
Plummy Loves Yummy
The only place to find a decent honest stone baked pizza in port Melbourne.

We're so lucky to live close to this gem. Perfect pizzas. No fuss. No stupid sauces or added grease.

I love this place.

My husband and toddler have been regulars here for sometime however we won't be returning as the service has progressively gone down hill. The waitress, who was lovely, was so frazzled and overworked that we had to ask her at least three times where missing parts of our order were. She (unconsciously sighed when we interrupted her) and left each time before I finished asking her. Very frustrating. We also ordered two cocktails to have with dinner and sometime later (after our food had arrived) I reminded her we'd ordered them to which she said "we're very busy and understaffed". I'm sorry but if I'm a regular customer and paying nearly $20 for a Calabrese salad plus a lot more for several pizzas and drinks I expect half decent service and not to be made to feel like I'm a burden. We didn't bother ordering dessert as we wanted to leave before dark. We'll be taking our business elsewhere from now on.

Had some breakfast here and coffee but was very disappointed I hope their pizzas are better than the awful breakfast won't be back in a hurry
Saboryamor
Ate breakfast at this cafe this morning. Food was great and service was attentive. I was very disappointed though when we received the bill. There was a 10% surcharge. When we questioned what it was for, we were told that it was because today was a public holiday. We were not aware of this and it was a nasty way to end our dining experience. We didn't see this stated anywhere on the menu or signs around the cafe. We won't be back because there are plenty of other cafés that won't deceive their customers. We know it's legal, however it's common decency to notify customers of this before they receive their bill at the end of their meal.
Foodielicious
The pizza are really, really nice (special bravo to the bay 101 pizza that always seems to be everyone's favorite). The staf is variable, sometimes lovely, sometimes you just feel like they are too busy to care. Also the prices are a little too high, but the food is good, so I guess, it's forgivable!

Best calzone outside of Italy! Bit pricey, but the food's divine! Very friendly staff....makes me miss being in Italy! Gorgeous desserts, too...!
Tim
Cool joint, a local for myself. The food is on point. Breakfast mainly for me, baked eggs, protein and veggie omelette cannot go wrong.
Pizzas are real good but as some other reviews, the prices for pizzas and pastas in my opinion aren't justified when there are better options that are cheaper and better, for eg. DOC and even Mr Laurence!
James Anthony
Discovered this place, so nice, food was exquisite. The Mrs had lasagne which came in a little pot which was very authentic. I had the veil with a mushroom which was very nice. Didn't come with a salad which was a little disappointing so I had to order one but overall very good. Will definitely get a pizza next time. They looked delicious and they make it in front of you!
Elizabeth Rose
Bay 101 has got great pizza and desserts available however I cannot justify the cost. The prices are highly inflated and getting a takeaway pizza alone is a fortune. There are far cheaper places of equal quality in the area. However the coffee is amazing!
J0yy173
Busy place on a Sunday night because the food was fantastic. The black quinoa salad with salmon paired beautifully with the Calabrese pizza. The hot chocolate was the best I've had in a loooong time. Spoon required to dish it out. Left so full. Definitely recommend this place.
Heidi
I have had the baked eggs with chorizo from here. It was very nice, lots of chorizo too! Great coffee and they always do a mean take away bacon sandwich!
Tricky
Love this real northern Italian pizza place. Fantastic thin crust pizzas with regular specials that are worth trying. Staff a great to deal with and great with suggestions. It's all about the quality ingredients here. Yummo!

Waited 10 minutes for menus, waited 20 mins for a pot of tea, waited 45 minutes for some fruit toast and a croissant. Then got told by the owner when we complained about the long wait times that 'it's Good Friday, what do you expect?!?!'. Umm good service buddy, not a big ask. NEVER GOING BACK.

NICE PIZZA , REAL ITALIAN ROMA STYLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!. Beware of the spicy dough pizza !!!!!!!!!!!!!! when they say it's HOT !!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S HOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love chilly but this pizza killed me. The italian sausage pizza is to die for. The pasta is also great.

...the pizza at Bay 101, though not wood-fired, is undeniably authentic; the thin, yet airy, dough up there even with the recently opened Albert Park branch of legendary D.O.C. And their cheeses are far from one-dimensional either with tallegio, provola, asiago and fontina all on offer alongside a similarly authentic range of cured meats. The wall of customer graffiti has now gone, replaced by black and white images of Vespas, supplanted by shelves fi
Stuck In Transit
Bay 101 in Port Melbourne has become a regular Sunday late morning breakfast spot for us. The place is always bustling every time we come in (a sure sign the food is amazing!).
Lobster
Pizza restaurant by night, cafe by day and opens good and early for breakfast. I have a feeling this business is owned or part owned by my new neighbour, Bomber Thompson. Certainly, the Facebook page appears to regularly offer discounts to Essendon Club members.

We tried this place after reading the mixed but mostly positive reviews. Overall, the food was pretty good. We appreciate quality ingredients and liked that despite the chicken being deep fried it tasted like chicken. Seems unnecessary to deep fry chicken, so much nicer to eat fresh, lightly fried home style dishes but it was still nice. Our pizza was cold. Like it had been put in the fridge cold but was good and would probably be delicious warm or hot. With some more attention and a few tweaks this place could be great! Will definitely give it another go rather than stick to old faithful Madonna's.

Best Zaaaaa. Such good pizzaaa! Authentic crispy Italian thin crust, fresh toppings and quality cheeses. I thought that the service was great and I love that the people working there speak Italian and are genuinely knowledgeable about what they serve. Also, the display case of desserts is hard to pass up...cannolis :)

Yes good

Rude staff. Talking Italian mostly about the various customers.
Karen.bollard
No go!!!!. As a local, I'm disappointed with the service I receive from here. The staff turnover is high and they clearly don't wish to be there. Bacon was forgotten the first time then poached eggs were hard boiled. When we complained, the waiter shrugged his shoulders and said 'OK'........ The coffee is burnt and cookies are hard. We keep trying to give them a chance but we are done! Save your money and go elsewhere
Pizzaville McBridey
The best. Has to be my favourite pizza place in Melbourne. Best base, best sauce, chef's who know what they're doing...

Dog hater. I've been going to this cafe and it's fellow cafe in the city for a year extensively and the older guy who runs them both is never polite to me. He is always nice to young girls..Even ruder about my dog!!!! My dog followed me in just inside the doorway today and as I was waving her out he nastily came over and told me no dogs in the store. It was quite obvious to everyone what I was doing. Including hAving given up my table outside for new customers!!! Never again!!'

Loving the pizza but avoid the pasta. I had food from here many times and often get take away pizza and the pizza is awesome! Just like Italian pizza! The sharing anti pesto platter is amazing so much food and fresh ingredients, the ham is to die for!
However, every time I had pasta I get disepointed, it's really bland and boring.
Staff was amazing last time I went, friendly and genuine! Really good service!
Will keep going here for my pizza and desserts!

Rude Staff. I went at Bay101 last night with friends..NEVER AGAIN!!
The food was ok but the staff absolutely not! when we went to pay a foolish waitress start teasing us in italian with her friends..
We are italian, and we understood everything you said.
Never again!

Great pizza as well as the pasta. My goto place for Italian in Port Melbourne.
Max Price
Terrible. Went with girlfriend, she ordered $28.90 seafood linguine, the seafood was disgusting and uneatable. The scollops were so over cooked that they were near the size if a pea and had turned to mush! And same with the prawns and the muscles.
I would never return here not recommended anyone eat here as the staff we extremely rude after the fact if taking it back and only offering to take off the drinks which was a beer and a tea... Hardly worth a visit!
Kimpee70
AWFULL COFFEE!!!. Don't go for coffee if you are looking for a good one!!!
Used to be very very good but not anymore (unfortunately)!!!
Waitress very nice and the food is terrific but when I've been there morning time, believe me ,I've got sick drinking all those bubbles in my latte !
$ change barista $ and get a younger and a smiling one with some experience guys or you will close soon!!!!!!!!
Roger
Lovely. Extensive menu of pasta, pizza, salads and antipasto. Stunning desserts. We have a lovely meal and had our 6 year old with us. It was family friendly while still feeling sophisticated. The service was excellent. Glad to find a good italian restaurant in Port Melbourne that, for once, doesn't seem to have the mafia hovering around with their Thai hookers in tow....
Momojaan
Bad service. The staff here except for the barista who is pretty nice are very sour faced with rough and rude attitude.
Marc
Went there with a couple of friends who lived up stairs , we were seated down , the service was so poor I didn't feel comfortable there , the workers on the floor looked like they didn't want to be there and didn't want us to be there

Bay 101 is great!!! Just mo.... Bay 101 is great!!!
Just moved to Melbourne and I've been in few places but breakfast and pizza yesterday were just delicious!!!
Went few times during last 2 weeks and wasn't so good in daytime ,kept coming back for a good coffee and absolutely friendly staff but let me tell you yesterday we sat outside with a beautiful weather ,glass of wine and stunning smart waitress helped us to move our table so we could have much space and we had the best time ever!!!

Thank you guys you made our Sunday!!!!
Giacomo Carulli
Great Pizza, friendly service and the desserts are a must ( especially the white chocolate and strawberries pizza )
Jono
Excellent Food and Service. We just had a lunch for a sisters birthday at 101 Bay Street and the service was excellent! The manager (Sara) , wait staff, cooks and everyone just could not have done anything to make the lunch more enjoyable. From the friendly welcome, advise on food and the engaging with each and everyone at the table was spot on. You guys rock!
Gio63
Good food, but hopeless service. Stopped for lunch with a client, had pizza, which was good, however the staff on the floor provide hopeless service, it is to be desired, at one stage the Barista ( Lorenzo, nice italian guy with Treadlocks ), left the Coffee Machine and came to take our orders, as he understood our frustration.
The place needs more professional, more attentive staff in the floor if they want to succeed, good coffee, but I won't be back in a hurry.
g

GeeBee. Calamari was ok, our 3 pizza's were disappointing, all really soggy. Ok dessert. Service was great but food was average. It's not Doc's.

We decided to try this place for brunch. I ordered pancakes. Hands down the worst pancakes in Melbourne. For $17, i expect a decent sized meal, they were 3 small pieces (smaller than Maccas pancakes), NOT worth the money. Even if one can look past the value for money, one cannot look past the rock hard texture and dry pancakes. They were terrible terrible terrible! I will never come back here.
To top it up i was sitting 1 meter away from a pillar and a waitress came behind me to take glasses to the bench of glasses. She knocked my chair while I was eating, rather than apologising, she came over and told me to pull my chair in. Maybe she thinks she's fat, but she really isnt and with 1 meter of space, its more than enough to walk through.
Sufficient to say, this place has bad food and bad staff. My recommendation, give this place a miss!!
Tegan Oakley
Best Pizza, service & coffee. I get my coffee here every weekend. I tried the pizza over the weekend and was so impressed! Not only do they serve the best coffee in Port Melbourne their food is fresh and delicious. Amazing service is always a given.

Shocking service. I came here with two friends on Sunday for lunch. Two of us arrived at 1pm and were seated promptly. We were given both the breakfast and lunch menu and were told that breakfast finishes at 1.30. We were also surprised to find that pasta isn't served until 2pm.

My other friend arrived at about 1.20pm and we called the waitress over to order straight away. My friend asked for the omelette from the breakfast menu. She was advised by the waitress that breakfast was no longer being served. When asked why when the menu clearly states1.30pm she said that they were busy and decided to finish breakfast early. When asked why they would give us the breakfast menu when they were no longer serving breakfast she replied "Well if you got here on time when your friends did, maybe I would have served you breakfast". We then asked if we could order pasta given that breakfast was over and she said no. So over half the menu was not available for lunch...

We left and ate elsewhere - somewhere where the wait staff were pleasant and we could actually order anything we wanted from the menu.
Tony
Love the coffee and pizza there. Nice atmosphere too

After hearing many great things about Bay 101 a group of friends and i descended into port melbourne and hit up bay 101 We were excited as ever to try these pizzas that have built so much hype. After being seated on a busy night we ordered our pizzas. Due to my dietary requirements i got a pizza on the specials board. The staff were nice, clearly busy and friendly but hey i guess this was all part of the Italian authentic experience, at the end of the day it was a pizza i was there for. After 20 mins we got our pizzas, apart from me...That's right, it was then i was told that they ran out of the specials pizza and couldn't make it for me...asked for lasagna and ran out too!!!!are you serious ???
My god how can you survive?
The manager came and apologise in a extremely polite way but I was still upset and I just have to thanks that she gave us complementary coffee and a little amazing pastry Nutella balls!
I will be back because of the amazing staff and maybe next time I'll be lucky and have my pizza too!
Jimmy
Don't be fooled by the appealing European look of this place. The decor and ambience is the only thing going for it. A morning breakfast ended up turning into a delayed lunch after our orders came out sporadically and an hour after we got there. 'Very busy' being their excuse just doesn't cut it. Bay 101 take a good hard look at what you're doing. Staff up and prepare yourself for a proper service, especially if you're going to charge your customers the prices you do. I only hope this place improves or changes management, because it's in a great location and has potential.
Jessica Saunders
Nice coffee and came out quick, but the service of the food is a whole different story. My friends breakfast arrived about 15/20mins after we ordered and that's fine. His order was missing a key ingredient, so it was sent back. He got his meal back, finished it and a further 30mins later my friend and I got our meals after we questioned staff. People came in after us, ordered and were out while we were still waiting. Not good enough for the prices you pay. Also telling us it's a busy day and as soon as we ask where our food is after 45-50mins it comes out in 40seconds, a little odd!! After making a fuss we got 10% off, so we saved a mere $1.80 each. Really?!!!
Mish Marie
More like Terrible Service 101. This place is shocking. Rude staff, waited 50 minutes for our food, and a friends food came out 30 mins before the rest of ours. Stay away if you dont want to leave feeling stressed and irritated
AlGG
Coffee reliably good as always but the food is not what you would expect it to be for the price. We waited over 30 minutes for Bircher muesli but received cereal style toasted (and wet) muesli.
Andrei
Very Very Good. Don't take any notice of reviews that talk about bad service. It's simply not true, I have had dinner there on multiple occasions, had coffees on many occasions and have sent friends there on other occasions. Not once have I had poor service. The young staff are always great to deal with, it's just not in their nature to be rude and non attentive. Pizza and short black coffee are excellent.
Laurenm777
One of the best pizza.. I can only speak for their pizzas which are perfect. If you're a fan of proper thin based Italian pizzas at Ladro, DOC, Supermaxi, 400 gradi etc. then this place is a must. It also has a more relaxed and casual environment then the aforementioned restaurants - perfect for walk-ins. Service is excellent; friendly and efficient.
Blues_02
Well Below Average. Gave it a second chance but that was a bad idea. Slow, ordinary service, cold breakfast and when given the wrong breakfast extra, they wanted the other one back!
Coffee was Cold as well. Plenty of other great breakfast places in Bay Street. Avoid this one!
Rachel
Great new bay st addition!. Bay 101 is easily my new favorite port melb restaurant. The food is authentic Italian and the pizzas are amazing. I concede that the service was previously an issue, but I can see a visible effort to rectify this in recent times, and last time I went there the service was wonderful. The gnocchi is also highly recommended.
David Brim
So rude!!! The arrogance of the blonde lady was unbelievable. Stood in the front waiting for anyone to even talk to us, and when I finally went up to talk to someone, she told be off for coming inside!! Never going back. The food isn't that great either. AVOID.
LoveFood
Bay 101 best Restaurant I've ever been...happy to live locally and been plenty of times spoiled from the crew!!!
Finally normal young people that remember what you drink or what you like...feel so special all the time I'm there especially with my family!!!
Service is the best in Melbourne i can say and food just amazing!!!
Not one of bay street can be compared!!!
100% the best!!!
Lorna
Never again!. It was the worst dining experience I have had in Melbourne to date. The waitress brought the wrong dish and then tried to argue there was no difference! I was really appalled by the service, it really seemed the staff did not care if we enjoyed the food or place as long as they got their money. and really the food was average with a distinct lack of mushrooms in the mushroom omelette! it such a pity but there are so many other great places in port Melbourne I would never consider going back there.
Brent
The worst experience I've had in a while. You don't get what you ordered for breakfast, yet are told 'you must pay, because it's already been made'! Are these guys serious? Never again.
Liserg
Shocking service!!. We went there with friends for dinner last week...pizza was ok, but the service was shocking!! Noone cared about us, we had to call the waitress 3 times to order main and more wine...and the restaurant wasn t busy! I tried to call The blonde waitress but she was probably too busy playing with his friends, laughing and kissing them.....very bad experience, we wont be back again!

$5 FOR EXTRA CHEESE!! please.... Have been here a few times before, never amazing but was mostly edible food for a new local. On my last visit I was hit with a bill for $27 for 1 takeaway pizza (pickup as the only option) which included $5 for extra mozzarella! Simply average/oily pizza with no sign of produce that warrants the high price tag.

Focusing on an Italian theme doesn't mean you will make good pizza/pasta/coffee. The owner is clearly investing in cheap produce or cheap chefs who struggle with the basics of Italian cuisine, either way feeling this ripped off is the perfect way to lose a repeat customer...

Disappointed. Heard great the GS but ciabatta turned out as white bread loaf, and was so soggy as I think the poached eggs weren't drained properly before plating. Felt very slap dash. It wasn't busy. Felt the staff were quite sulky too.

Good food, friendly service. If you are after a good Italian meal or coffee & desert this place is for you. For me the menu is a little ordinary considering I'm a local I often come here hoping they'll have something new & exciting on the menu, nevertheless it's always good reliable food & friendly service. It's a casual & busy place so it can get a little loud at times but Weekdays are not too bad.

Come here for food, not for a quite date.

Food: Lemon pie is excellent. Pizza good. Pasta very good. Great prawn pasta!

Great Coffee and Service. Went for coffee, super coffee and really trendy place. Service was great really friendly and nice for a busy morning...
Good Stuff
Service was fab. Was there tonight with the kids and the staff were great. Brought stuff for kids to keep busy and were really accommodating with organising meals that suited little ones. For the grown ups meals were great. Pizza just as it should be thin with quality ingredients. I noticed on open kitchen that cured meats are sliced to order & cheese grated to order too. Can't get fresher then that.

Amazing Food, Great Service. Tonight i sat down and had dinner at Bay 101, the food was absolutely amazing. The service was great. It's a shame that the previous reviewers are giving Bay 101 a bad service review, the staff were friendly and polite. The pizzas were spectacular and the calamari was to die for.

Keep it up guys, we'll be back again.

Never ending bad service. I actually live upstairs from this place. i cannot believe how incredibly bad on every occasion the service has been here since it opened. the almost exclusively genuine italian italian wait staff are almost all sour faced spoilt indolent young adults who act as if they should be out driving free ferraris or being given diamond tiaras. the excellent food and obviously hard working kitchen staff are being let down by sulky self important cry babies out front. DONT make the mistake of eating in.if you want a great experience, go 50 meters towards the beach at pane il tulipani. simple food, great service and cheaper.
It's Delish-cious

Good pizza but not customer service at all. My first time here and the pizza was fantastic... Unfortunately is hard enjoy the dinner if the service is bad, I ordered the speck pizza with smoked prosciutto and pesto and the waitress came back and said the speck was finished, so i asked if was possible to have the same pizza with capocollo instead the prosciutto, she came back a second time and said the pesto was finished, so why there is not communication between the kitchen and the floor staff? I asked a scamorza before the pizza but she forgot to put my order in... i had an italian digestive with no ice and when i received the bill there was a charge of $1.50 for the ice... (RIDICULOUS)!!! I think the life is expensive enough... So i just remind her that I had my drink without ice. Only the owner came at our table and nicely asked us if everything was ok... Sometime a good customer service means more than good food... But anything will justify a charge for the ice!
