Review Einstein's Relative - Melbourne

Jonathan - Pixel Collective
Really friendly staff, good coffee, and an interesting brunch menu with plenty of middle eastern inspired dishes. Meatball sub was out of this world, with juicy meat, crisp bread, yoghurt and guacamole on the side. The ability to add hash browns just sealed the deal for me!
Elliott Bailey
Incredibly friendly staff. Meals are what you would expect from a decent cafe in South Yarra. Atmosphere is ok but would be improved with some more Zany Einstein stuff

Love this place! One of mine and my partners favourite brunch spots! Most friendly staff I've ever had the pleasure of being served by. I'm sure it's the food and coffee that does it, my lord. Get the mamas meatballs if you're hungry and hungover, so damn good.
Hanna Burrows
This place is fantastic! Such a creative menu - but not so out there that you'll be confused by what you're eating. Hearty brunch with a twist. Love it! Coffee is also great, and service is wonderful. It's all undercover and can be a bit windy and cold at times... But then again, so is the rest of Melbourne.

Great bacon with my eggs. Coffee tasted good bit was a little cold. We also had a bacon and egg sandwich and the relish was a little sweet. I liked it and my wife thought it was ok. It was a quick, pleasant breakfast with friendly service.

Suprised me! Was staying nearby and came here for a quick feed and coffee. Quirky little place with a cool science titbits around. I had an egg and bacon roll and it was simply but very tasty. Don't expect upmarket style here my food was great. It has a tomato relish on it that was great. Coffee was great as well. I had a soy Capp (they use bonsoy) and it was very good. Service was great. Very welcoming and speedy with everything. Whole place was an honest suprise at how good it is.

My boyfriend and I just went here for brunch and we absolutely loved it! We usually get one sweet and one savoury dishes, so we got the açai bowl (which he preferred) and the mushrooms with challah (which I preferred). We liked our dishes so much that we didn't even want to share them with each other! We drank a mixed orange and carrot juice, which was lovely, and a hot chocolate with coconut milk and marshmallows (I really appreciated the fact that they had coconut milk). Staff was very friendly, we almost couldn't finish all the food, the place is comfortable and we paid less than $40 for all this yummy food. We are definitely coming back, multiple times ;)

Really tiny cafe that doesn’t have much seating but cute vibe. I love the Einstein quote in front of the coffee machine!

The coffee was amazing, I really enjoyed the flavour. Food was decent but very simple. I had the Salmon Benedict. Was tasty but it’s not really the type of place for elaborate brunch or fancy dishes.

Will be back for the coffee 🤤

A workmate and I were staying next door so went here for breakfast on the way to the office on our first morning. We placed our order and I made a few changes to the standard offering on the menu on mine. He didn't write anything down but just remembered our orders. Food was pretty cheap (esp for South Yarra!) and really good (and order was right even though he'd not written it down). Service was lovely and fast but we didn't feel rushed. The next morning a third workmate joined us for breakfast here. As we three walked in the guy who served us the day before (the owner?) smiled and said to take a seat. He gave us a little time to chat and came over and asked "Same as yesterday?" to the two of us! And we both said yes ... and he came out with exactly the right order - drinks and food with my changes and all! Super impressed! Great service! 5 stars from us!

Interesting place in a unique way. I have enjoyed my breakfast there and their coffee was best. The
staff greeted us nicely and served me well. It has very different vibe to other cafes, but in a cool and interesting way!

I live around the corner and its my place for coffee every day and breaky when I have time.

Definitely would recommend a trip to the Einstein’s Relative, if you are in South Yarra!
Sarah
Cute and cosy cafe tucked away between apartments in the busy backstreets. I couldn’t go past the halloumi bruschetta, but felt like it was missing a flavour pop.

I came here for brunch with a group of friends! It’s a small brunch spot but really cute and gives off a homely vibe. The coffee here was good, although maybe alittle too strong for me. Both me and my friend felt weirdly jittery (more than after a normal coffee) after our coffees. The food here is good and offers something different to your standard brunch menu! I ordered the Middle Eastern Sabich Brekky. It was full of flavour and I’m glad I ordered it, however I think the portion size and quantity of food could have been a tad bigger considering the price, however this is brunch in Melbourne so it’s never going to be super cheap! I would definitely recommend this place to a friend. The coffee was really good and seemed to be a popular stop for people to grab a takeaway coffee! The staff were friendly and the service was decently fast.

Coffee tastes good but the odd thing is I felt the heart is kinda overshaking and the one I ordered was totally different from what I saw in the picture.
A little disappointing.

The porridge: is one of my favourite “treat yo self” breakfasts, healthy start with a bit of chocolate to satisfy those cravings straight away and keep you on track for the rest of the day. It’s filling, delicious and the flavours work well together.

The salad:
Well cooked, made and delivered in good time, fresh ingredients and a great combination of flavours.

I always enjoy meals prepared by this restaurant, they always meet my expectations if they haven’t exceeded them.
Hello. Imnikki
A modest and cosy little cafe tucked away on Yarra Street, where parking may be difficult to come by, but there’s always the train station or tram stop just a hop and a skip away. Service is welcoming, and the casual atmosphere provide a much needed reprieve from the never-ending traffic and pedestrians on Toorak Road.

The menu hasn’t seem to have changed much, or any at all, since our last dine-in visit over 2 years ago! Still on the menu is the Nobel Prize Winner salad, which I remembered having previously because I have a picture of it and because it was so very delicious, healthy and filling.

This time around we ordered the Mushies & Challah, and Mama’s Meatballs on a challah roll. You can never go wrong with any type of sweet bread, and the challah was scrumptious! Soft, fluffy and toasted to perfection. Both dishes were bursting with flavours, and the sweetness of the challah provided a nice contrast to the savoury ingredients.

My partner gets his takeaway coffee from here now and then, and he only has good things to say about the latte here. If possible, avoid the iced latte when dining in as while it’s a much bigger serving size than others, it does taste much weaker compared to the hot version.

Einstein's Relative has not only a smart name, but also offers tasty food with good and healthy ingredients. It is an excellent choice for breakfast.
Tamara
Great coffee, food and service. I have my morning coffee at this cafe every working day, and I'm pretty sure they make the best almond lattes in Melbourne! Love it
Freddie Diaz
Good chai latte, great waitress, the place looks ok. But the food had no heart, no real timing nor preparation. Plain toast with excess of avocado cream spread, a fried halloumi in squares and cherry tomatoes. No flavour, no dedication. Very mediocre plate the same one that appear in the main photo. I can't say anything about the rest of the menu. Maybe they r better plates. But that one for 18 dollars? I can do it in my house 100 times better and for half that price
Kalpan Jhaveri
Delicious food, friendly staff and service. Quantity was above the expectation and price was reasonable. Like the healthy version of the menu. Love to come back.
BIRCHER QUEEN 👑
Love this cafe! Hidden along Yarra St, it's definitely not one to miss! The staff are beyond friendly and attentive. The porridge was incredible- taste, size and texture were perfect. We asked for granola on the side in which we received a large bowl each. Cannot wait to return!

Had our brunch this Saturday at this quaint little cafe! The coffees were great and so was the breakfast. We were happy to see vegetarian options on the menu. Recommend the Haloumi Bruschetta and Muesli.
Chinmay Pandya
Excellent food and service staff well briefed of all items on the menu. Had a really good selection of options and mine was the classic smashed avo accompanied by some sides the best of which was the brilliant bacon and poached eggs - top class!!

Bonus points to Krupa for making its avo look as good as it tastes. The radishes, seeds, mint, and cottage cheese add a bit of texture and colour — and it all comes atop some dark rye bread. The chai latte was fantastic and hands down the best in Melbourne so far. Topped off with friendly staff - what more could you want.:)

Also enjoyed the fact that unlike most cafe in Melbourne which pack the layout of this cafe gives you positive vibe and provides a space between tables so a private conversation can be easily held - a real luxury in Melbourne these days .Definitely going back again !

Best food I've eaten in months. Had the soup special with Chorizo, delicious and well presented. Always busy, had to sit in the lobby area. Nice quiet atmosphere with a TV in the lobby area. Didn't even know there was one hidden at the back of the cafe. Very friendly staff. Will be going back for sure!
@twogoodtoresist
Ordered the superfood quinoa salad with a nutella and peanut butter milkshake! Delicious! The staff here are so accommodating and the food comes really quickly. Plus the treats near the coffee machine are to die for! Can never go past the oreo brownie!
Queen Of Food
A nice little cafe tucked away in a little food hub in south yarra. Great service and friendly staff. The food was fresh and a good balance of flavours. I'll visit again soon.

My friend emily told me about this place, her fav cafe! I was near the area so i had to go check it out! Itsasmall place, right next to south yarra station. Its so charming! I love that theyve reallygone with the einstein theme (there are some plants in test tubes on the window sill! :)). The staff are lovely. I tried the Turkish Pancajes, which they created to match the middle eastern theme of their menu. Persian fairy floss, dates and turkish delight! A delight to eat :D and nice coffee too :)

Edit:
I came back to try the mushies with challah (and chorizo). Oh yeah.... mmmmmmm!!!!
I really enjoyed breakfast here! The staff are so polite, and friendly, which in itself is rare these days, I really noticed how attentive and lovely they were. Coffee was good, food was delicious and well priced, service was quick.

The thing I liked most about Einstein's relative was how friendly and nice the staff were. Unfortunately service was let down due to the time it took to deliver food (about half an hour) and also because they forgot one of our meals which delayed us further. Personally I had an overall pleasant experience as my meal wasn't forgotten! I do like their menu as it's quite vibrant and healthy. Most of the dishes we ordered could have gone with some extra seasoning and flavour (or optional condiments). I tried their lunch special which was their burger. It was filling and the almond salad was flavoursome and healthy! While I liked what was in it (beetroot, beef patty, caramelised onions, coleslaw) the bun wasn't too great as it was quite chewy and lacking that soft buttery texture. Their mushroom dish was a highlight with exceptional flavours. The bonus is that they do split bill and if you are with a larger group (though not as nice looking) there is a lobby area that is outside the cafe which could seat 6 people.

Went there for a friend's catch up and I'm glad we ran into this gem of a place. It's a very small cafe but it's ideal for people who even want to bring in their laptop to do their work. I love the interior design, it gave a nice rustic look with some awesome quotes. I had an iced coffee and a mushies and challah roll with a side of chorizo. My friend tried the middle eastern breakfast and my other had scrambled eggs. We all loved our breakfast it was unique and very fulfilling. I was really curious to try their brazillian super smoothie but didn't get a chance. That'll be something I'll have the next time I visit.

P.S. Parking near this place might be hard (unless it's paid parking) so it's best to consider the train as south yarra train station is right opposite too the cafe.
Jolene Lim
This hidden gem near South Yarra train station is definitely a great place for brunch! It wasn't too crowded on a Sunday and we got table for 2 near the kitchen. We started with flat white and the coffee was so good we ordered 2nd cup! We ordered the Mushies & Challah and Haloumi Bruchetta upon recommendation by the owner who was very friendly and attentive. When the food arrived at the table, it was so beautifully presented and they were delicious! Also, the eggs were perfectly poached! It may be a small cafe, you could tell the food is treated with love and it is definitely a hit with the locals with constant customers walking in or getting takeaway. The price is also very reasonable with generous portion and fresh quality ingredients. Will definitely return to try the other options on the menu.
Mat
Nice coffee. Staff are always friendly and attentive. Doesn't look like much but the number of locals who drop in for a coffee or get it to go suggest its a winner.
Burt Reynolds
Really attentive service, delicious and pretty coffee and great brekkie options! I had the Sabich which was awesome with green tahini, eggplant and potato, while my partner had the mushies with challah bread, which she said was nice. Would definitely come back!
MandyToorak
Close to the station, but somehow feels far away from the railways. This is a place you can't pass up. I had a cold drip/long black over ice style cold coffee here last I went, as well as one of the muffins they'd baked that day, and was pleasantly surprised by how good they were. Delicious! I think the arcade this cafe is located in is very architecturally interesting, and this is the best food joint in the place
Melbourne To Mouth
Unassuming alleyways full of amazingness is I guess what Melbourne is known for. Einstein's Relative sits on a less unassuming alleyway between brand new apartment blocks and popping up restaurants with Bespoke beer joints and of course, Zumbo.

With floor to ceiling glass walls giving it an open but cosy feel. Einstein's is a good stop to stop on route to the station or just to hobble into after a big night.

We went for the Reuben (because in my life I've never passed up the opportunity for a Reuben) and the grilled haloumi, neither disappointed. There was haloumi on haloumi on haloumi. I couldn't finish it, which is pretty rare in a world where it's usually a disappointingly sized side dish where the salty goodness lasts maybe 4 bites. The Reuben was also magnificent and has shot to the top of my Reubens of Melbourne list.

Really reasonably priced for the area too, just don't sit outside when it's windy!
Dean C
Super friendly owner and delicious coffee/food down the street from the South Yarra station. Looking forward to trying their Acai bowl next time! Such a warm, welcoming vibe.

We visited Einstein's relative on a monday morning. The cafe was compact. We were greeted by friendly staff. The usual long black and cappuccino that we ordered tasted just fine. I ordered a smash avocado with radish and dukkah while my boyfriend ordered scrambled eggs with grilled tomatoes and mushroom. The food was just right. Avocado was fresh and poached eggs were done well. The little cafe also has lots of cakes and cookies options which I shall try some other time.

It's a very busy place as it is located under offices.
Shlomi
Great place for brunch and spending time on a lazy weekend.
The best thing about this cafe is that the service is always good. You can also bring a laptop and sit for hours without interference. The cafe is very small but on a nice weather they got sits outside as well.
Food was great with decent proportions, all dishes are Israeli oriented with delicious flavors. We had the cauliflower salads and Haloumi toast which was full of great yummy Haloumi!
FoodieMum
My local cafe, very lovely staff. The food has middle eastern influences, yum yum. My favorite dishes are the Middle eastern Sabich which has a delicious tahini base that's dairy free and the Haloumi on toast, amazing.
Coffee is hit and miss.
For Mums and bubs, they have one high chair and if you have a pram you can sit inside in the foyer area of the building.
Giorgio Barcaiolo Battaglini
It's not the food, although is very good. It's the coffee, sublime and served with care. It's the staff, more than lovely. It's the cafe itself, little but full of charm.
Wendy Pan
Drove all the way from Clayton to south yarra to try out this cafe however it's disappointed. It's a small cafe in the little alley where is really close to south yarra station. Food were really bland while coffee was alright Nothing really impressed me except excellent service
Barish
Average service and below expectations quality coffee. I got t/a latte 1 sugar and it was just milk in it. Coffee needs to be stronger or more in serving. And my sugar was sitting at the bottom of the cup :/ please guys give a good stir for t/a coffees!

(English Reviews Below)
隐藏在south yarra的角落,知道的人不多,这里有不错的smoothie,食物菜单虽然看着单调,但味道真是不赖,拿上一本书或电脑,我可以在这里安安静静地坐上一天。
推荐Reuben Sandwich(吃过最好的reuben之一) 和Nobel Prize Winner Salad(grilled haloumi和teriyaki搭配的很棒)

Located at a hidden corner of South Yarra. The menu looks ordinary but the foods have wonderful tastes. Highly recommend Reuben Sandwich and Nobel Prize Winner Salad. Smoothies are good too.
It becomes one of my ‘don’t know where to go so let’s go there’ places. I could bring a book and stay here for a whole day.

Had brunch here on a Monday afternoon a couple of weeks ago, small cafe but nice and cosy. I had a cauliflower and sous vide chicken salad, it was so flavoursome and filling! J had a meatball sandwich which she enjoyed too. Chai latte was okay, not as strong as I usually like it. Overall would come back and try more stuff, staff were very attentive and friendly!
Delightfullytasty
Einstein's Relative is a small cafe in South Yarra, the next street down from South Yarra station and close to Two Birds One Stone and Adriano Zumbo's patisserie. It's also easily accessible by tram 1/8 and there's plenty of parking on the side streets. The cafe is quite small and cosy but doesn't feel squashed, and there's also some seating outside as well. There isn't much decoration as the place is so small, but pot plants line parts of the counter to bring some life to the cafe. Service was good for the most part, with friendly staff who came to check how our meal was at times. There was only about a fifteen minute wait for food, though my friend got the additional chicken option to go with her salad dish, which we were both sure we told the staff about, but didn't end up getting in the dish.

My favourite place to eat!
Best coffee I've had in Melbourne, amazing food (my favourites are the smashed avo and the Acai bowl. My partner loves the bacon and egg roll and also the smashed avo.)
Everything is filling, super affordable and great portion sizes.
Staff are so lovely and it is a delight to visit!
Nds
Amazing food, so fresh, tasty and full of flavour. The staff are friendly and attentive. I will be back for the middle eastern. The coffee was also perfect.
Coffee And Food Enthusiast.
Loved this place, not your usual cafe setting given the location but if your hungry and want some damn fine tasty good with good coffee then look no further. I had the haloumi breakfast and it was amazing, haloumi was fried just to my liking.
Abdullah Hamad
We ordered Middle Eastern Sabich Brekky and Chicken Toastada. The frist one is very very delicious but the other dish was not.
Also, we ordered for drinks, Lemon with mint shake, Orange-Carrot juice. The frist one is very very delicious but the other dish was not.
AnotherAsianAbroad
One of the best breakfasts I've had!

First of all, I had the best soy chai latte ever. My boyfriend thought the coffee was very good too.

I then had the acai bowl which was just the right size and was tasty.

However the smashed Avo on toast was amazing! The balance of flavours were so good.

Staff were friendly as well and the price very reasonable and affordable!

Would definitely recommend
May
Small cafe tucked by the roadside parallel to the trains. Offers delicious breakfast food with a reasonable price. Had the smashed avocado toast and Brazilian super smoothie - loved it!
FOOD TRIP
Cosy little café with a cute Einstein based concept. The drinks were awesome, but food was average. Chai Latte (powder form) $4.50. Beautiful art on top. Good flavour and very creamy. 7.7/10. Skim Latte $3.80. Awesome leaf latte art on top. Coffee was strong and creamy. No sugar needed. 8.2/10. Reuben Sandwich $15.50
Dan Late
Like it a lot. good coffee and great Front of house team. Especially the hidden away tables in the foyer are perfect to escape and with no reception to hide away from notifications! (although they do have WIFI if your desperate)
A Girl With Curves
Best iced latte I've ever had! So yummy! It was just the right flavour and strength! The guys that work there are lovely too! Great work!!! (Yarra street)
IsFoodIsGood
First day open for 2016 and they didn't disappoint.
It was a scorcher of a day in Melbourne so all seats were taken inside the air conditioned cafe but I was happy to sit outside.
Staff were very attentive and friendly.
I ordered the Haloumi Bruschetta and it was a generous serving. Lots of good Haloumi with cherry tomatoes on a smashed avocado base on toast.
Very happy camper and hit the spot after a gym session.
Will visit again for sure because I also liked the look of the acai bowl. Yum.
DuckieLovesToEat
I caught up with a friend who lives around South Yarra and so I dragged him here. It was such a small place and thank goodness it was not crowded considering it was around lunch time, maybe there is a reason why is that. I ordered wagyu beef burger and a skinny latte. The burger was good but the skinny latte was ok. Customer service was alright.
Wiggy285
Had brunch here on a Sunday morning strange eating it in an apartment block lobby but we didn't have to wait long and service was good! Brunch options were limited but we had the smashed avo and halloumi bruschetta both were excellent and I really enjoyed the Einsteins shake - I would def recommend coming here!
Pepsi
Came here for the first time today and whilst underwhelmed at first by the general appearance, by the time I left, I had a full blown horn. The Einstein juice was heaven and perfectly complimented the flavor sensations of the reuben sanger. Well played Einstein you crusty old bastard. I'll be seeing you again very soon.
Mchh003
This little cafe tucked away on a side street was a delightful find. It's got a very chilled out vibe, perfect for a Sunday brunch.
I got the haloumi bruschetta which was one of the best I've had. There was a generous amount of crispy haloumi which is paired with a light yogurt dressing.
Absolutely divine.
Will definitely be back again for this dish and to try their yummy lunch options too!
World In A Bite
My favourite place to have Acai bowl (before I learnt how to make it - super easy!). The service was lovely, though the space is quite limiting. Good coffee 😊.
Emily Russell
Tiny place but great coffee and amazing food. Always wanted to go here after visiting Einstein's 251 and was not disappointed! Staff are friendly as well. Very comfortable place
David Facciolo
Cosy little cafe with a menu boasting favourable classic sandwich varieties. Had the Banh Mi which was simple, easy and hit the spot. Ordered a magic coffee and it had a real nice flavour.
Melfoodie
Always good service. Nice coffee. Their specials are interesting, different from typical cafe. Worth to pay for it. I always eat Rueben or Banmi, The best.
Keen For Cuisine
Cute little space next to south yarra station. Yummy menu that will please anyone and the service is nice. Highly recommend the haloumi bruschetta

So glad to have landed this place next door to our spot in Melbourne.

After being generally disappointed with the coffee elsewhere in Melbourne (I know, it's meant to be the coffee capital and all that...) this place makes up for it with great, on point coffee.

The menu is varied and good value - especially considering this is South Yarra. The standout items are the freshly made muffins (seriously, so good!), the Brazilian acai/super food smoothie and the Halloumi on toast.

Cool little place, good service and great value.
Susan.roberts
Coffee is ok here BUT it drives me crazy if I see them using the left over coffee . Rather than grinding beans when you order, they have the left over grains in a cup which get used! I'm sure it's just the same but it doesn't sit well with me!
Service is good here and muffins great.
Really limited menu so I've never had more than a muffin.
Shalini Raj
Went on a Saturday so they were busy but not crazily so. A tiny cafe tucked under an apartment block, you wouldn't expect it to be good! The food was delicious- I had the Haloumi bruschetta. Soy Hot Chocolate was tasty too & an additional plus point were the marshmallows that came with it. Staff were pleasant too & were happy to split the bill.
Adriannalovesfood
Love this place! Small and cozy cafe that has a really cool concept. Great service and yummy food. The bacon and egg roll is my favourite and a MUST TRY!
Michfish
The service is amazing! The staff is so warm and welcoming and very patient with any dietary inquiries. The atmosphere is suitable for family or casual friends gathering and the food is excellent. Definitely recommend the haloumi avocado crush on toast, the yoghurt dressing gives such a refreshing twist to the overall flavour.
TheSkinnyFoodie
Easy place for breakfast or brunch. Very small space so I'd assume it would be hard to get a table to sit at during peak times but the coffee, service and food was good! No complaints from me!
Ramen Girl
Dee-licious! Have not had a bad meal here. Came for coffee when it first opened and have been coming ever since for brekky and lunch. I love that the food is inspired by flavors of the Middle East and I knew that I would not be disappointed when I saw the collection of Yotam Ottolenghi cookbooks on the shelves. Friendly staff who look out for your doggy too! A definite favorite!
Isaiah Marquez
I'm a science lover and the moment I saw the funkiness of this shop, I knew I was in for a treat.

The food is delicious and is visually stunning! The staff is enthusiastic aswell as the owner I think he was?

Anyway, definitely recommended. :D
Littleadventuresmelb
Delish!
Yes small menu that has not changed for the year, but I am still coming back for the chicken tostada! Make sure you try one of the milkshakes. Coffee is always yummy. A tad on the pricey side but great produce & service.
Bayside Ladies Who Lunch
Had lunch at another place nearby and popped in here for coffee and cake. Service was lovely and friendly, coffee was delish and carrot cafe - divine!
Sweetxdeex
Great coffee, tasty sandwiches (we had the Reuben and bahn mi), but give it a miss if you're in a hurry- service was sloooooow. Their baked goods looked great, maybe I'll try them next time.

1/9 Yarra St, South Yarra

Intrigued by the odd name of this café and having seen some dishes plated up on Instagram, I headed out for Sunday brunch with my bestie. Even though Sundays are an excellent brunchin' day before the busy week begins, I tend to avoid it because of the crowds and wait lines... So Einstein's Relative was a great choice as it's hidden off Toorak Road, just two steps shy of South Yarra train station. I was surprised when we arrived to find this little corner store could fit no more than about 20 people! A little grungy gem that I never would have stumbled across without prior knowledge. I loved the atmosphere with posters and some of Albert's brainy quotes on the walls (yes, we are on a first name basis). With water being served in beakers and relaxed wait staff, it was refreshing when compared to all the Scandinavia-inspired cafes that have popped up around Melbourne. So kudos to the team for their originality. Coffee was nice, but nothing to brag about.

Food

Down to business. The menu had a number of options, but my taste buds tingled at the sight of the Haloumi Bruschetta ($14.5) with a Poached Egg (+$2.5) . Coming from a Greek background, I could simply eat Haloumi on watermelon and be happy (I would definitely recommend trying this at home folks). However, this 'Haloumi Bruschetta' on Seeded sourdough with cherry tomatoes, avocado, radish and a yoghurt dukkah dressing.... ticked all the boxes. The dish had a perfect combination of flavours and a very decent serve of haloumi. I would have to rank this right up there with some of the best brunches I have eaten to date.

We also had the Acai Wake Up Bowl ($12) upon recommendation from one of the friendly wait staff. A trend that has been on the rise, the bowl was described as "Brazilian Superfood Berries blended with coconut water and banana, topped with seasonal fruit and granola". It was tasty and filling, but for me this dish just didn't compare to others I have had before. Perhaps an inbalance of flavours? Little too much coconut water? Still not too sure.

Verdict

Amogst so much brunch competition in the South Yarra area (it's a tough business this hunting for cafes thing), I enjoyed eating at Einstein's Relative. I would thoroughly recommend trying this little local gem, especially if you're sick of the stock-standard breakfast spots.

http://thebrunchhunt.net/2015/07/05/einsteins-relative/

Breakfast here was quite nice, but not super. I had real food envy because the smashed avo and haloumi dish looked incredible, while my chicken salad was rather average. The coffee, however, was great and the cabinet cakes so tasty! I did have a small taste of the haloumi toast and it was as yummy as it looked! I just wish there was more of a variety on the menu. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the cafe!

A little gem in South Yarra next to the train station, the coffee was rich and tasty (I'm not great with coffee descriptions, so bear with me) with the flavour of... well... coffee.

I chose the Veg salad special, which was not only nice to look at, but the flavours were great as well. I don't always find salads very interesting - especially ones without meat - and I can't quite pin-point why I chose it.

BOY HOWDY I'm glad I did. With a soft poached egg in the middle, the mixture of grains, spinach, caramelised onion and pomegranate seeds, the salad brought together the perfect combo of delicious. (Woah, my descriptions are way out there.)

What I'm trying to say on my is... I really enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't hugely like was the crammed space inside, but hey - it's the way of the world now!
Burgers Of Melbourne

I love everything about this place! Interesting decorations. The staff are very friendly. And tasty, healthy menu. I will return in the future for sure.

Awesome food and delicious smoothies. My partner had the pulled pork banh mi. He was impressed with the flavoursome succulent pork, sweet bun and interesting combination of pickled veggies. I had the avocado smash on toast and even though it was simple, the elements were put together perfectly. Brown crusty toast sprinkled with chili, good quality cheese, radish and micro-herbs. I added a poached egg which was cooked perfectly. We shared a very tasty banana smoothie. We will return for sure!

Super cute. This adorable little cafe is tucked away off Toorak Road, and is a lovely change from the average cafes that populate the South Yarra area. I only had coffee here, but the food looked ace. I'll be coming back here on the weekend to chow down on their tasty looking food stuffs!

Running around the city from job to job, like a headless human (typical) –Einsteins Relative Cafe was an ingeniously serendipitous and delicious stumble-upon. Having a beer-tasting event later that day, we needed to lay the foundation out of some good eats. And let me tell you, we sure did eat really good food at this place...

Key to south yarra. Best coffee and food in the area. I regularly go for a coffee and bacon and egg roll as no other cafe in the area beats it.

Extremely disappointed. Having eaten at their original cafe in Caulfield, I had high expectations for Einsteins relative- which they failed to meet. Their kitchen is tiny which means a limited quantity of food that can be prepared at any one time and also means a wait of 45 minutes until food arrives! If they don't have the right facilities, they should not be accommodating for so many tables.
Other than this, they also forget about my friend's order. Their outdoor areas are prone to bees- so you can't actually sit comfortably outside. And portions seemed stingy.
I have to give them some credit for their friendly staff.

Stopped in for breakfast on the start of our great ocean road trip, and craved about returning to Einsteins Relative the hole trip. AMAZING fresh food, the haloumi cheese was mouth watering and coffee was something I could wake up to every day. Service was amazing as well. We are from Sydney and the only downfall is when we are going to get back for more :(

Love it!. Love the coffee here. took me a small while to get used to the taste but now it's definitely one of my favourite spots to get a coffee. lunch is good too (try the smashed avocado), although I wish they had a larger menu.

Nice people, great coffee and food. I recommend smashed avocado on toast with added eggs and bacon, comes on the table steaming and delicious

Amazing food, vibe and staff. Had the acai granola - incredible! Great coffee and chai (had mine with almond milk). Recommended.

Expensive but nice staff. Nice staff here but it annoys me how they never fill the takeaway coffee to the top. I always feel like I am getting ripped off.

Took my husband for brunch here this am. Had the signature dish of tofu in teryiaki etc and it was superb. Perfect coffee and happy people. I'm coming back!!SOON

Great coffee and beautifully poached eggs! My friend loved her dish too! Really cute place with lots of natural light :) I will note that they should probably put a poster or something on the clear glass wall though... Saw a girl practically walk through it and it looked really painful... :( lol
Coffee Man
Grate little place was on service and good food. Must try

Had brunch here on Saturday (I had the relative chicken salad and my girlfriend had the nobel prize) and they were both so super yummy! Also had the caramel shake drink (forget it's actual name) and then came back for it the following day! Soooo good, would definitely eat here again! Also the staff were super lovely, couldn't fault the place! Well done guys! :)

Awesome spot. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Great healthy food and coffee. A million times better than Outpost (Outhouse as some of us used to call it!) that was previously in this spot. Highly recommend

So close, sooooo yummy!. I love this place! South Yarra needed a non-pretentious quality cafe like this. coffee, food & staff are consistently excellent. Haloumi bruschetta is my favourite, closely followed by baked beans. saying that - everything I try is amazing - set on eating my way through the menu. give me a few weeks ;)

Newly opened and there is clearly a lot of fresh and excited energy. This little place may not seat all that many people, but it's truly a gem. Staff were really genuine and lovely. The food was phenomenal. Chose the chicken salad but wasn't expecting the brightly coloured and gorgeous plate of tastiness that arrived. Portion was super generous and the recommendation of hot sauce was really appreciated (extra yum!). Many other items on the menu looked really good and am enthusiastic to visit again.

A great addition to the south Yarra scene. The meatball special brought us back 3 times in one weekend. The friendly staff and great menu put this on my favorite list.

This place has the equal best coffee in South Yarra. try the halloumi bruschetta, very nice. would be good to have corn fritters on the menu...

Came here in the first week it opened and was super impressed. Coffee is fantastic and had the Bahn Mi which was one of the best pulled pork rolls I've ever had. Can't wait to come back and make our way through the menu!! Great friendly service too. This place will hopefully become a regular local. :)
