Delicious grilled meats, salt and pepper calamari and pork dumplings. Friendly service.
Needed a quick feed before Tim.E his partner and myself headed to a show across the road.
The service was prompt and the lovely waitress speeded up our order knowing we were in a rush. Shout out to the waiter who helped me choose my duck noodle dish too :)
Food was good and hit the spot, haven’t had Chinese in ages so I really enjoyed my noodles and the fried rice.
Excellent customer service and very prompt service. The meals came within 5 mins of us ordering and the waiter was very accommodating.
Good food that warmed us with their homely Chinese/Hong Kong style flavours.
Simple Cantonese-style Chinese restaurant specialising in roast meats; namely Char Siu a.k.a bbq pork.
Staff are very attentive and friendly.
Any dish with the iconic Char Siu is a must! The meat is well-cooked, tender and not too fatty. The portion sizes are very generous, too. The curry sauce which accompanies the roti bread is a little bland. other than that this place is worth a visit.
The sweet and sour pork is to die for!!! The service is great ❤️ If you are craving for Hong King cuisine, you should come here and try this place out!
Wonton and char siu noodle soup for lunch.
Best soup I have eaten in Melbourne. Friendly quick service as well. Lucky enough to work nearby so will be back
Authentic Hong Kong style roast meats and generous well priced portions. Food has always been on point. This time I had the roast pork and roast duck with flat rice noodle soup.
Great cheap eat in North Melb.
We are keen to try the BBQ pork ("char siu ") which was supposedly to be their specialty dish but was a bit disappointed when the staff told us it's not ready yet. The shop opens at 11 am and we were the first customer to walk in for Sunday brunch. So we ordered roast pork and duck on dry noodle, steamed siu mai, shrimp rice rolls and red bean pancakes. The portion is quite generous and very reasonably priced. There was also complimentary hot Chinese tea and housemade sambal for each table. The total price was only $33 for two. Will definitely return for their char siu except we will not arrive that early next time!
Excellent taste and good price, reward eating again. I love seafood laksa and rice noodle with beef. Crispy pork and roast duck are nice as well!!!! Highly recommended
My roommate recommended this restaurant to me.
And it's better than what I expect. Not too oily and noisy like other Chinese restaurant . Will come back again
Tasty dishes, good portions, and an authentic Melbournian Chinese. With all the price increases and the hospitality style hype in Melbourne it is getting harder to find a place like this where you get a good quantity of delicious food at a fair price.
On a Saturday night I went to Char Siu House with two good friends who recommended this place.
We ordered four dishes to share, Battered Sweet-Sour Pork, Fried Rice with salted Fish, Golden Chicken Ribs battered in Salted Duck Egg Yolk, and Beef in Egg Gravy. All dishes tasted incredibly good and hit the spot!
Char Siu House is 15 minutes walking distance from the outskirt of the CBD. No queue, no fancy setup, it's just about Chinese food at its best. The place is run by a family who puts all their effort in their meals, hence the serving is quick but is secondary.
I am more than appreciated my friends told me this place.
Master-made premium golden savoury ✨Roasted Duck✨ in VIC.
(Been ordering it for 3 days nonstop)
Not gonna lie to you I’m personally not a big fan of duck but their roasted duck… just brings me to PARADISE 🥺
I am such critic of Cantonese food, but their roasted duck were just… It’s just as if I’m in HongKong/Canton. Tender/ juicy/ savoury.
Much appreciated and all love 🥺❤️
(And the price were just too decent to be true.🥺)
One of the best Chinese Malaysian cuisines in Melbourne. We had the salted fish and chicken fried rice, I can say it's the best that I have tasted in Melbourne. The BBQ Pork and dry noodle was also good, pork perfectly cooked. Service was awesome too. Definitely would be back when I'm in North Melbourne!
Good food and fantastic service. The place looks small from outside but it's actually quite spacious inside. And it's very clean. Had the Hainanese Chicken Rice and the roast duck and pork on rice.
Undoubtedly the BEST BBQ pork & dumpling noodle soup I've EVER experienced with banter from our host to match! Do not hesitate💃🍜
Was looking for a reasonably priced dinner before the comedy show and decided to try this place.
Interior is your standard cheap eats, Chinese restaurant vibe.
However the food was super tasty and amazing value for money! Great portion sizes, pretty friendly staff.
Got the 2 meats on egg fried rice (roast pork and roast duck) and duck stir fried noodles- very delicious! One of my new faves in Melbourne.
Will be returning regularly!
March 2022 UPDATE
Vast improvement in food quality and service.
Has become extremely popular due to its large serving sizes, low prices and BYO option.
Fully reopened post COVID. Indoor and outdoor seating.
RESTAURANT HAS HAD A MAKEOVER
Since my last review, this restaurant has changed its menu, renovated interior - floor now all one level.
The food quality is just acceptable but its served quickly and cheerfully.
Menu is largely cantonese. There are a few vegetarian options.
Chinese tea served in thermos flask (Vietnamese style).
We had sweetcorn soup (fairly bland) vegetarian mapo doufu (just OK), fried vegetable (quite good) and fried chicken (very salty)
House wine (red or white) is $6 a glass or you can BYO for a $2 per person corkage fee.
It's a very casual diner. the sort of place you'd drop in for a quick meal rather than linger.
Delicious hot soup and many other delightful dishes to choose from.
The service is quick and reasonably priced food dishes. Everything is fresh and a great menu to choose from. Plenty of tables and seating for dining in.
There is excellent QR code screening of customers which demonstrates this venue is COVID safe. Cashless payment using credit or debit card allows for fast transactions either before or after your meal.
Wheelchair access might be difficult as there is a single step at the entrance.
Overall a great experience to enjoy a good, tasty, well priced, meal; eating in or takeaway.
