Review City Bbq Restaurant - Melbourne

Michael
✩ We arrived at 4:30pm for our booking on a Saturday. Staff were prompt and showed us to our table. ✩ Staff kindly showed us how to order from the menu via the QR code. We thought that this was very efficient, as we could order food to start off with, then continue ordering if we were still hungry later onwards. ✩ Food came out promptly and tasted delicious. All the meats and condiments were fresh and tasty. We appreciated how the condiments were 'bottomless' and how the staff were happy to replace them for us. ✩ Overall, a wonderful experience. Was a little on the pricier side, but we would still be happy to return here, in the future.

Delicious food (good value for money), we ordered three meats for three people and it was enough to make us feel content but not sickly full. At the moment, due to the lettuce shortage, they only offer a dressed salad (and not plain salad leaves). Staff were attentive and replaced our grills multiple times and we were able to call them when we wanted to replenish the side dishes. Definitely book ahead (do it via their online booking link on Instagram)

My family brought me at this beautiful Korean restaurant in the city for my birthday treat. Such a cozy restaurant with spacious seating arrangement. Food was yummy authentic Korean with a twist, mouth watering wagyu was the fave of all…adult kids have been going back to this restaurant with their friends and guests. Needs booking ahead of time. Waiters are all very attentive and cheerful. Fast service too! Yum and tummy full. Will recommend and back.

I have heard many have put their heart to this restaurant when it comes to K-BBQ. Now I understand the reason, and yes, I also put my heart here. In terms of taste, there is no question. The beef quality is great, and what I love is the banchan selection. The place is really nice, the price is decent, and the staff is helpful and knowledagble.

We are given 1 and half hour for the lunch. The staff are attentive and the ordering system is very efficient and easy. As we are non beef eater, the choice of BBQ meat is very limited and the texture is quite bland and hard to chew. They top up the Side dishes if needed and choice also limited

Good meats and superb flavours. The cucumber cold soup is so refreshing. Staff are very attentive. The direct to kitchen ordering system is brilliant. Get very busy around 7pm. The ambience is upmarket. We had a booth so it was easy to have a chat with mates over the BBQ. Keen to head back for some of the other classic dishes.

Easy to order, amazing food and a great way to enjoy BBQ. My favourite was the Woo Samgyeop. The meat for this cooked so quickly and was really yummy with the garlic and thinly sliced green onion salad. I would also recommend the Wagyu - superb.

This was by far the least exciting kbbq experience I've had in Melbourne. There are very few menu options, the meat was rather difficult to chew, and there wasn't much variety to the side dishes (most were variations based on onions). For some reason the sundubu also had a sandy texture to it the longer it was left in the earthenware bowl.

Really enjoyed my experience here! Food was so nice and easy to chew, such a cute place im in love with how the dining area is laid out! Workers are really bubbly and friendly, definitely a place id go back to!!

One of the best bbq restaurant i have ever been to. Very consistent in taste, they have a few in Jakarta, Indonesia and taste just as good if not more.

Really nice

Had their woosamgyeop, marinated galbi and cold noodle. Woosamgyeop was full of msg, galbi was smelly and bloody taste and cold noodle was tasteless. It was also hard to get the staffs attention. The only good thing about this place is the variety of vegetables they provide. Very disappointing meal after waiting for 1 hour for our table. Won’t be back for sure

There are lots of Korean restaurants at City better than this restaurant, stuff are rules customer for an eating sequence that is the first time I met at a Korean restaurant! Not reasonable!!! Never ever came here again!

We ordered bibimbap and daenjang jjigae. It was the worst tasting we've ever had. The jjigae was very salty and almost like they mixed broths to save money or something.. it did not taste like daenjang jjigae at all. On top of the inedible dishes, service was not good.
Alice
Ordered<br/>------------------------------<br/>1. Beef belly - Very good<br/>2. Marinated Wagyu Beef Short Rib Meat - Very good<br/>3. Pork Belly - Not good, dry and thin slices<br/><br/>Service was a bit difficult because of language barrier but not a big deal. Pretty nice interior. Free soft drink if you post a picture, tag, and follow them on Instagram.

Full of MSG to cover the bad taste.<br/>Meat were not fresh.

Legit. Tasty. Getonit.<br/>Gets packed, and for parents-- no lift to get upstairs.

Favourite kbbq place in Melbourne. Comfortable seating and food is very consistent. Great service too.

Meats here is next level but do expect to pay an additional $10-15pp compared to an average korean bbq. End up to be $48 per person shared between 4 people. BUT what’s special here is that they offer wide variety of side dishes- crab meat as well as fresh greens that you can use to wrap ur meat in. Overall: lovely dining experience not to mention their friendly service is spot on :)

Delicious and scrumptious portions. Everything was fresh and of a high quality. Smiley and accommodative staff that explains and assists you with everything. Very nice, clean and comfortable decor. Really recommended. Will be back. Thank you.

Visited here twice recently, i have to say here is the best Korean restaurant in Melbourne in the sense that they offer some fresh “ssam” veggies and traditionally cooked side dishes. Staff are all friendly and attentive.

#BMAfavourites || We went to hunt down some amazing Naengmyeon (Korean cold noodles) from @borngamelbourne yesterday! It was a dish I didn’t get to try in Seoul because it was 2 degrees everyday. But Melbourne reaching 38 degrees was a great excuse! Perfect noodles served in an icy cold beef broth, slightly tangy and topped with cucumbers, korean pear, boiled beef and egg! These went down a treat and cooled us down real fast. Definitely recommend this place if you want to try Korean cold noodles for the first time, and perfect for Melbourne summer!

One of my best Korean bbq eatery in the town. Worth coming back again and again. Service and foods are really great.

This place is always packed. Love their signature thinly sliced beef. Fresh leaves to wrap the meat with. Friendly service.

Bornga is a busy KBBQ franchise restaurant in Chinatown. We definitely recommend booking or coming earlier to get a table. If there is a wait, they have a system so you don’t need to physically wait at the restaurant. We have been here a few times and the service is always attentive and quick, the restaurant is clean and quite well ventilated. The heat source for the BBQ is charcoal which we prefer as it adds to the meat flavour, and the grills are changed by staff according to what meat you are having.<br/><br/>We enjoyed all the meat that we ordered - ox tongue, marinated galbi and woo samgyeop, as well as the bibimbap and japchae. Banchan (side dishes) are refillable and we definitely took advantage of this as the kimchi was delicious. The unique thing about Bornga is the giant platter of greens that they provide to wrap the meat. It is refreshing and most appreciated. <br/><br/>We think Bornga is one of the better KBBQ in Melbourne and definitely recommend it!<br/><br/>
Dumba
Good Korean barbecue. Tables are well set out and food is fresh, with tasty condiments. Friendly staff.
Iris
The waiting time provided by restaurant is pretty accurate, good system so you don't have to be there the whole time. Delicious foods, the meat was fresh and the entrée plates were also nice. I loved the potato salad especially. The beef stew soup was so good, the beef was very tender, and the soup was rich in flavour.
All About The Feeds
Had always wanted to try this place out but every time I had a chance it would be fully booked. Highly recommend making a booking. Upon opening at 5:30, the restaurant was already half filled. The restaurant was clean, modern and spacious.<br/><br/>For two we ordered:<br/>- Woo Samgyeop (Recommended dish)<br/>- Wagyu Kkot Sal<br/>- Mansinchang Samgyeopsal<br/>Their meats were quality and had their own flavour even without the sauces. Along with the purchase of any BBQ meat you also get a variety of included sides and sauces. All the sides were flavorful especially the thinly sliced spring onions which went so well with the meats. My absolute favourite sauce which I believe was their house sauce was the Woo samgyeop sauce complementing their meats very well. (Wish I could purchase this somewhere!)<br/><br/>I would also recommend following the steps on the place mat they provide you with on how to eat it the right way. You'll definitely taste how each ingredient complement each other.<br/><br/>I'd be keen to come back and try their other meats and dishes. This place definitely ranks high out of the few KBBQ places I enjoy. Overall rating I'd give 4.5!<br/><br/>

Wait time on a Friday night - 45 minutes.Service - it's there but probably a bit understaffed during peak hours<br/>Noise levels  - lively and loud<br/>Meat quality -  good but not amazingly different from say Mrs. Kim's Grill. Food is pricier than other K BBQ places but the ssam that comes along with it and banchan is a lot better. They provide lots of different veggies to wrap your meat in including Perilla/ Shiso leaf which is non existent in other K BBQ places.Other dishes - Tried the seafood pancake which was quite doughy and dind't have identifiable seafood in it.
FoodieInMel
Probably my favourite Korean BBQ in Melbourne, great service, the food was delicious, but the choice of the lettuce were my favourite part, I never seen any other place have them the traditional style. Love it.
Coleen.hernando
Recently discovered this place and is by far my fave kbbq in melbourne at the moment. Staff are always friendly and willing to help. You get quality meats for the bbq and amazing korean side dishes. Definitely coming back.
Porkbellyism
Was there for less than an hour and felt so rushed.<br/>They took our meat off the grill as soon it was cooked, <br/>2 mins after that, asked to clear the table when we still had a lot of food left. We said we were still eating and ordered more drinks.. every 5-10 mins they kept asking to clear the table.. <br/>in total, we were there for less than 1.5hrs. Won’t be going back again. <br/>Food was decent but there’s many other Kbbq’s in the cbd.
Uyen’s Eat And Play Notebook
• BBQ pork in red chilli paste $25: The soup tasted delicious and had lots of beef. I recommend you consume it early because it will become salty when it turns cold. <br/>• Beef soy bean paste stew $16: The soup tasted a bit like like alcohol (due to the fermented beans) and had large amount of beef, zucchini and mushroom. <br/>• Side dishes: I especially love their kimchi, well-fermented and slightly spicy. <br/>• The customer service was amazing. All staff were very friendly and polite. One even offered a replacement of the pork dish because it was a bit cold when he served. #uyeneatandplaynotebook#shotoniphonex#melbournefood#melbournefoodblogger#koreanfoodlover#koreansoup#zomatoaus#kimchi#melbournekoreanfood#bornga
Foodie Takes Melb
Easily my favourite Korean bbq in the city so far. What it lacks in fancy side dishes it makes up in it’s meat quality, leafy green compliments and their menu generally done well. For lunch for two, we usually spend around $120. My go to kbbq, would rec.

Amazing decoration in this restaurant I loved the view. The food was delicious with heaps of side dishes and salad to wrap the bbq meat. Luckily we booked on the night as soon as it hit 5.30pm it was packed, great atmosphere. I loved all the food besides the seafood pancake was a too thick because it had eggs in it made it like a omelette not pancake. It would be better if it’s light and crispy. Thank you for the great hospitality.
Food Lover
Yummy Korean bbq place, the food is fresh and healthy. Price of the food is more pricier then other Korean bbq restaurant and meat serving is small. Place is clean and customer service is good here.
The City Lane
Bornga Melbourne is the Melbourne outpost of popular Korean based BBQ chain Bornga. They started in the Nonhyun-dong eatery alley of Gangnam, Seoul in 1993 and today have restaurants across Asia.

This is my FAVOURITE restaurant in melb! I highly recommend it. The ambience and service were great, it wasn’t smoky at all, and we had one waiter who served us really well; he was v quick and attentive. I was in love with the Jap chae and I reckon any meat on the menu would be amazing! Even the appetisers were mindblowingly great. I’m not the biggest kbbq fan but the fact that this kbbq place is my fav restaurant says so much.

Woo Samgyeop ($23/150g)<br/>⭐️ 4.5/5 ⭐️<br/>🍴Always great to have #koreanbbq especially in the winter cold. #bornga has outlets all over Asia, evidence of their success in serving yummy korean food. Even before ordering, they serve many side dishes including a wide variety of fresh vegetables, kimchi and sauces. #woosamgyeop is their speciality thinly sliced beef dressed with bornga’s special sauce. It was tasty and tender, and delicious regardless of how it was eaten (whether plain/ with sauce/ vegetables). Also had fussfree booking of Bornga via Zomato <br/>📍@bornga_melbourne_city, Level1/178-190, Little Bourke St Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

I went when this place was newly opened. The atmosphere was really fancy and I loved the interior (not as dark and smokey as other KBBQ). We had the BBQ and my first reaction was that there were a lot of veggies, like alot. I loved it, since not many places offer alot of veggies but for some it might be a little too much. The side dishes were good also. Meat was tender, and we had a good time. <br/><br/>Highlights: Clean KBBQ, not as noisy as other KBBQ and quite spacious. Offers a lot of side veggies. price was normal. Meat was good quality<br/><br/>Lowlights: Could be more generous with the side dishes.<br/><br/>Overall a good KBBQ dining place, ill definitely come here for a more fancy KBBQ.

Great Korean BBQ!<br/>I've been to several Korean BBQ places in Melbourne so far and this is my favorite amongst them. Very quick and friendly staff, beautiful and atmospheric venue. You might have to book a table in advance (especially on the weekend).<br/>Food was superb. Big selection of veggies with your order, bug servings and reasonable prices. Especially the kimchi soup was amazing and so refreshing! Pork belly and ox tongue are my favorite meats.<br/>Overall a great experience, wi visit again!

Bornga is great. I was impressed by the well-designed menu that made me mouthwatering at the start and it did not disappoint me at all. It’s got a variety of beef options and they are of great quality. The staff are attentive and friendly.

Straight off the bat, ambience was very nice!<br/>Plenty of fresh tasting side dishes and veggies to wrap your meats in<br/>Wonderful dining furniture! Felt very high quality!<br/>I would definitely come again!<br/><br/>Update- I visited again, and was met with great service and delicious tasting food once again! Really awesome joint to hit up!

My favourite Korean BBQ place in Melbourne. Not only about the food quality, but value for money. Their signature beef slices have be marinated nicely which no other Korean restaurant could replaced it. Vegetable has displayed freshly which attract me to use it and wrap the meat.<br/>But the pork is not yummy as beef, can easily overcooked and become hard to chew.<br/>All dishes are worth to be ordered, because they are all yummy!!!!!!!!
Huong Dang
Their quality of food and professional services give them 5 stars. The restaurant looks modern and spacious compared to all other K-bbq and their serving looks super fine. About the food, I have nothing to say. The meat is fresh and the side dishes are tasty. There are at least 8-9 side dishes. They will amaze u. Plus point, the table is big and it is suitable for family too
Tasteforyourbuds
Super packed, not sure if you can book but expect the long wait. Food choices are limited but my favourite is there massive dish of veggies to wrap your meat in. Would recommend especially they have soju and beer specials

Another one of my favourite Korean BBQ restaurants. The sides are great and although I never finish all my lettuce I think it's nice that they accompany the samgyeopsal with a plank of chilli, carrots and leaves for wraps.
Lora
Amazing quality meat<br/>We ordered the kkot Sal- the marbling of the fat gorgeous. The meat just melts in your mouth! We were left mesmerised, and could not stop tho king about it for days.<br/><br/>Next was the woo samgyeop dressed with a speciality sauce, I tried to follow the instructions about wrapping the grilled meat around the spring onion but I could not find the spring onion so I just ate it however I wanted to and it still tasted great , but not as amazing as kkot Sal<br/><br/>The samgyeopsal was nice thick , the fat delicious. Pork belly is my ultimate favourite at kbbqs and bornga did not disappoint to meet my expectations<br/><br/>Also ordered the yeo san tteokgalbi, the meat loaf looking dish. And wow it was so so good. There's bits of tteok throughout the meat, and it's not an obvious chewy texture like you would with a normal rice cake, but it had a nice little crunch and bite to the meat. It tastes kind of in between of a meatloaf and hamburger patty, it was so good.<br/><br/>We also ordered the cold noodles naengmyeon in the clear broth. And boy was the noodles chewy, so chewy that I didn't even have enough time to chew before it reached my throat and hence I ended up swallowing long strands of noodles, yes I had a high chance of choking. The flavour, not the best, it was a bit plain and boring. I've never had naengmyeon before so it might just be the dish in general that I didn't enjoy and not so much borngas version of the dish.<br/><br/>The service was amazing!!!! Staff so friendly and kind. Even if the food was horrible, I still would have given 5 stars just on service alone. They took initiative to cook our meat, and could sense when we were in dire need of help, i.e. when our meat was burning. The sides were lovely and ohmygosh the array of vegetables such as the leaf wraps that they provided was abundant and various! I've never had such high quality leaves , and it was my first time trying a ssam , interesting unique flavour I won't forget. Anyways amazing service, extremely friendly and willing to help, they really make me want to improve on my customer service at my work place lol.<br/><br/>I definitely will becoming to eat the kkot Sal, and perhaps try the chadol duenjang jjigae :)

Food 4/5<br/>Service 5/5<br/>Environment 4/5<br/><br/>The best kimchi in Melbourne, I think that’s why the famous chef can earn that much all over the world. I already tried everything but the BBQ for lunch. The best dish is beef soup, which is valuable and precious. Another side dish also tastes amazing and I have to ask for more than three times. <br/><br/>The seafood pancake also tastes good but the soup is perfect in Mel’s serious winter.<br/>
Eat Good Melbourne
It’s always so difficult to get a table here without a booking but we were in the city early around opening time so we snatched a table. The decor is spacious and beautiful and staff are friendly. We ordered beef ribs, pork belly, army stew and they’re famous marinated beef slices. I love a good army stew and this one was delicious although I would’ve preferred it to be a little spicier and thicker. It’s packed with ingredients and would be enough to feed two. The marinated beef is a must try! The thin slices of beef are marinated in their secret sauce and are perfectly paired with lettuce and the many side dishes. Service could’ve been a little more attentive considering they weren’t too busy yet. Definitely book ahead if you want to get in or expect to wait over an hour.
Iris
Tasty food, nice environment and great service. Thanks for the Korean girl who served our BBQ for lunch today! You have beautiful smiles and great customer service!
Lynette
Amazing. <br/>Don’t be put off by the long wait! Went on a Friday night with a group of 6, and had to wait 45mins-1hr but it was definitely worth it. Good, prompt service, amazing meats, unlimited sides. What more can you ask for?
Kai Fuong
As a non-expert in Korean food I found this place excellent in terms of ambiance, taste and friendliness of the staff! The portions are a tad small, which is relevant because some of the dishes (especially the beef kkot sal) are just too tasty to not order a second plate! Will come back nonetheless!
Lina Chen
Really satisfied with the food and customer service. Just came this afternoon, order 3 serves meat, and rice & spicy tofu soup. All the food using good quality and have delicious flavors. Appreciated for the service from June, he was so nice and taught us the best way to enjoy the meat.(see last pic) and thanks for their excellent service. Really enjoyed during the meal. Will come again ◉‿◉<br/>

Looove this place. We came to this place for lunch and they were not so busy that time. The staff are sooooo nice here! The signature beef BBQ are AMAZING. It was so good so we ordered twice! The stew was great as well! Definitely the best Korean restaurant I’ve ever been so far in Melbourne.

Upstairs in this cavernous room, escape from the bustle of Chinatown for a delicious Korean feast. Once seated at the enormous tables, choose from BBQ sets or individually cooked dishes. Then settle back and let the BBQ fragrance from other tables treat your nose while a range of appetizers are laid out on the table.<br/><br/>We chose the very tender beef pieces, both marinated and natural. Wrapping these smoky pieces in leaves and combining with a range of side dishes made this a fun way to eat a healthy meal.<br/><br/>The staff were very polite but their poor English made communication quite a challenge. Also in other similar restaurants the BBQing would be efficiently handled by staff. Here we had to do our own. Conclusion: the food c was great but the experience could've been better.
Celia
the menu is very simple and clear. The meat is good but the cold noodles is disappointing. waitors should be more enthusiastic to help customers
Jamie
As a Korean I am naturally inclined to have high expectations when it comes to Korean food... but what a great Korean dining experience this was! <br/>The venue itself is amazing; spacious, with plenty of attentive and fast staff, and so authentically decorated that it makes you feel as if you’re in Korea.<br/>Amongst the 3 of us, we ordered a portion of the beef ribs, a portion of the marinated kkot sal (prime cut beef), a pork and seafood ssamjang (a special bean paste that accompanies KBBQ), a seafood pancake, a chadol duenjang-jjigae (bean paste stew with beef) and a naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles). Having ordered some meat to grill we also got various complimentary sides and sauces, and a plate of fresh vegetables to wrap the meat in (to make ssam). <br/>Everything was delicious, of a generous portion, and tasted super authentic. So much so the meal reminded me of my mum’s home-cooked meals. I especially loved the fact that the bean paste stew could be eaten like a bibimbap! Instructions were provided in the menu and by staff; I hadn’t seen that before, and it was delicious!<br/>The side dishes and even the plate of fresh vegetables are all refillable, and the number of sides we were given reminded me of eating in Korea. It made me forget the many number of times I had been disappointed upon only getting 3-4 side dishes to go with my meal at other Korean restaurants.<br/>Definitely cannot fault the experience at all.

One of my fav korean bbq places in Melb! The marinade taste is quite unique here and it’s super tasty. <br/>Although we had to wait for 1hr to get a table. But the wait was def worth <br/>Recommend booking in advance

4.5 out of 5<br/>I can say that this is one of the best of kbbq in melbourne that I’ve ever tried so far...<br/>It tastes soo delicious, with a really good ambiance. The portion was okay, but it can considered a bit pricey, but for me it still fine cAused you’ll get a tasty food. We had samgyeopsal, porkbelly, another pork, with a hameul ssamjang. I love all the meal, even the side dish. The most fav is the kimchi, the taste just suits me very well ❤️❤️ The only issues that we have it’s a bit hard sometimes to get a service just to refill drink or side dish and the grill plate just a bit too small caused we got the wire one so it takes time to cook.

Sweet N Spicy Queen
Good meal. Try the BBQ , soup , pancake and potato noodles and come with more. The soup with rice is really yummy, not spicy, the potato soup is a little dry but the seafood pancake not that good, because too much spring onion. Overall, 4.5/5

Tried this place twice, I was very impressed with their salad selection - so fresh and went so well with their cuts of marinated beef and pork belly slices. This was the only time I didn’t eat a lot of rice because I was so busy eating the bbq meat wrapped up in the lettuce leaves. A must try! Went back the second time, wasn’t as good as the first time round. The waitress could have helped us out more with the cooking of the meat. Very busy place so booking is a must to avoid the queue! <br/>
Monka
Super pretty venue and decorated well with korean vibes. So many choices. Loved their soft pancake. The place is always packed so it’s good to make bookings first. Will come back soon.

brought my dad here for his 56th he loved it!<br/>just genuinely good food, fair prices and a great atmosphere.<br/>and i love the refills on side dishes are free cause i love Kimchi<br/>i always book ahead and if you pay in cash i think on particular days they will give you a discount (don't quote me on that)<br/> <br/>ooooo and try their seafood pancake! yummy!
JOELLE
3.5Korean bbq branch by the famous celebrity chef.<br/><br/>The place was actually nice for BBQ, it's not too dim, and has a nicer (kinda premium) design than your usual k-bbq eateries. It's not too noisy, with songs playing at the right volume. It's a bit cold though, heat comes solely from the bbq pit.<br/>Staffs were pretty friendly and professional, we had to wait a bit as there was another one before us. The guy serving our table was very friendly as well, though English might not be best. It's hard to get one's attention because everyone's so busy walking around. We also felt a bit rushed as they were closing, which is like 30 mins before the closing time. It is also good to note that the cooking was self-serve, they only explained how to do it. <br/><br/>Starting with meats:<br/>Kkot sal, which is basically plain marbly beef meat was good, it was okay tender and since it wasn't marinated it doesn't taste like much but meat. Good but nothing fancy, i don't think is worth the price.<br/><br/>The Dwae Ji Galbi (pork ribs) is pretty good as well, marinated nicely and there was some parts of fat that was yums, meat was not hard.<br/><br/>The best i think was their woo samgyeop which was thinly sliced beef brisket as it was really yum, the fat just melts and sizzles and it was also marinated so it's flavorful, and it's really thin so it's really easy to eat. Bit hard to cook though.<br/><br/>Japchae was yum, it was not too dry or wet and had a smoky peppery smell and taste to it that made it maybe the best japchae I'd had, portion was also quite big. The only problem with it i think is that the meat (pork) was stingy, there was barely any.<br/><br/>Bibimbap was pretty good, it was a stone pot bibimbap which was pretty generous, served with two sauces in squeezable tubes (sesame oil and the red pepper paste) which were good so we can adjust to our liking. It was also not too dry nor wet (egg requested half done), and had great texture and veg combination overall.<br/><br/>Chadol duenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) was good. It was definitely different than the usual dwenjang jjigae, as it was thicker and saltier, also instead of the usual seafood u get beef slices which were pretty tender and of course, tofu and some vegs in it. They served it with some fresh cut lettuce, marinated beansprouts and kimchi radish, which I didn't really bother mixing in to the soup, I just ate them as i go. Overall pretty good, but i prefer the usual traditional watery soup.<br/><br/>Side dishes were pretty good variety, there were the usual kimchi, radish kimchi, cold tofu, pickled cucumber, seaweed and carrot in a pot, marinated spring onion, some fresh cabbage salad, and one more that i forgot (some kinda salted vegs). All of them I liked though i didn't really try the one dish i forgot. I personally loved the radish kimchi, the pickle pot and cabbage salad!<br/><br/>BBQ condiments were garlic, spiced salt, red pepper paste, and another type of chili paste. All went well with the meat. Also lots and lots of different types of green leaves!<br/><br/>Also, it's good to note that you can't change the type of meat you want for the dishes as they're all already set, which is a bit annoying, although some dishes like japchae and bibimbap you can request a vegetarian option.<br/><br/>Overall a good place for BBQ, but is a little bit pricey.<br/><br/>( follow for more!✨)<br/><br/>xx,joelle.
Jel_J_Chriee
The quality of food is good. They give us plenty of fresh vegetables.<br/>The service wasn't impressive. They told us to wait around 20mins to be seated but we ended up waiting more than 45 mins.<br/>I tot tht the staff will cook the meat for us but no.<br/>They just put the meat (we ordered pork ribs) on the stove and left.<br/>Our meat was burn. We flip the meat and cut it ourselves. the staff came back put our meat on the plate, change the grille. However, our pork ribs aren't cooked yet !!!<br/><br/>Anyway, Soup, bibimbup and seafood pancakes taste very good.<br/>

Quite pricey korean bbq in central chinatown. The signature beef bbq is great! Must try if you are going. But everything else was average. We waited more than half an hour to be seated, didnt feel it was worth the wait.

A handsome man with nice glasses cut up my foods for me, and now I have a lovely new patronising Korean air-hostess-mum. <br/><br/>Thanks Bornga, 100/5.
Hon
We ordered the signature woosangyup and the portion is very small.<br/>The beef galbi was also small & and unfortunately our meat was burned. We had to cut off the burned outer layer and left with not much meat to eat. Cold noodle and kimchi jiggae are so so. <br/><br/>The side dishes portion is so small, we had to ask for refill but after the second time asking for refill one of the staff look very annoyed. This alone is ruining our dining experience. <br/><br/>Overall, not a good experience for such a famous kbbq. Definitely would not come back. <br/>

No joke, one of the best Korean restaurants I’ve ever been to. Super impressed with their service, the waiter cooked all of our meats for us (which was great!!) and food tasted super delicious!

Good food but service was very rushed. They kept asking if we were done with the grill even though there were still meat to cook. Though it’s a Sunday dinner and we understood the need to clear table for other guests; the experience overall was ruined.

Will be back for:<br/>+ BBQ Beef Brisket<br/>+ BBQ Beef Premium cut<br/>+ Grilled Galbi Beef with rice cake<br/><br/>This has now become one of my favourite Kbbq places in Melbourne. Although the menu is smaller than other kbbq, what they have they do really well. The beef cuts were fresh, grilled on hot charcoals, and eaten with the generous green leaves and other condiments, were perfect bites. The grilled galbi beef were smokey, grilled to perfection and delicious. The accompaniments were generous and plentiful (the kimchi’s especially good). The service was impeccable, and the place was well ventilated and air conditioned. We also tried the cold noodles which were good and a little special (especially on a hot summer day) but not something I would go for usually. It’s good that they have some dishes you don’t see in other kbbq places. Will definitely be back again to try out some of the other items on the menu.

Yummy BBQ and cheeky toilets, the kimchi soup is not the best I had tasted in Melbourne, sea food pancake is tasty. They offer 5% discount if you pay by cash, I will bring more cash next time, it is about $40-50 per person without alcohol.

4 years ago while i still live in singapore,i went many many times to bornga, even until my partner complaint me always korean food..<br/>Bornga definitely is the best korean food i had..<br/>Until i came to Australia,im still visiting bornga many times..<br/>But it getting less and less<br/>First,the side dish used to give variety or alot, and now it seem like serves for dog or cat, very bery little..<br/>And we ask for refill,as is too little, until the 3rd times, the guy who is buzz the hair, the face is dark like charcoal, the face change straight away..<br/>2nd,the vegie basket you will notice when you go either normal day or holiday, the vegie basket will AUTOMATICALLY upgrade or downgrade..<br/>It should be long basket like same long as the table,<br/>But yesterday when i went,it helps us downgrade like 3/4 size basket.. you know, you pay for the quality meat, but they are serving you little as they can..

It good to know that there is a Korean BBQ with satisfying experience as well as low prices in Melbourne. Went with friends and each of us only paid approximately $20. There were plenty of kimchi for free and the staff would help you with the BBQ. The only thing you need is your mouth. The beef and pork we had was obviously great. And so was the jap chae, which I recommend to you in case meat only is not enough. In general, quite worthy.<br/>Ps: my friend told me that the free soup tasted bad, so...do not try for fun. But maybe someone like the taste.

Every Korean BBQ has their specialty thing, and it is definitely the Woo Samgyeop. The service is pretty good, they're onto everything very quickly. The decor is nice, it's clean, there's aircon and you go home smelling only faintly of BBQ. The pork belly wasn't great, it dried out pretty quickly but I think the one they cook in the kitchen is supposed to be incredible. Kimchi stew was less spicy than other places but their kimchi is really good. Overall, yes. Pretty great place to eat.

Absolutely, delicious and very friendly staffs.<br/>U sam gyub and wagyu was fantastic taste and lots of vegetable and side dishes was very delicious and looks very pricy but price is very reasonable. Recommanded!!!

Bought the Bornga cold noodles -$16. Unexpectedly, it was a huge portion so definitely order the half size if you’re not sharing. The buckwheat noodles were chewy and the coldness of the dish gave it a very fresh taste. <br/>The staff were very friendly and I love the vibe/decoration of this restaurant. <br/>Definitely going to come back to try the KBBQ!

2 people went to Korean bbq restaurant. The reason I want to try is that the big picture of Korean famous chef in the front door. I was used to watch his show.<br/>Firstly, too many to upstairs to get in.But think how many calories contain in the bbq pork belly. That push me to step up. LOL <br/>We were arrived at 7pm and waited for at least 30 minutes to be seated. The waiting area is quite small.<br/>We have tried kimchi soup, seafood pancake<br/>Beef bbq ($36) and marinated beef slice( recommended at front page)<br/><br/>Good: meat quality. Marinated beef taste juicy and delicious. Not like some Korea bbq , the marinated sauce is way too sweet. I would taste the sweet of pear.<br/>kimchi soup: the biggest pork cubs I have never seen in other kimchi soups in Melbourne.<br/><br/>Need to be improved : the flavour of kimchi soup is not the best I have tried. I need more sour.<br/>The pancake itself is no flavour. Too too many spring pinion little seafood. The sauce also need to improve.<br/>Overall, very good bbq. I will come back to taste more.<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>
