Pros: the bulgogi quesadillas is a creative and delicious concept! Oozing with sweet beef flavours and tangy tomato salsa, who knew would go well together. Chicken was crispy and loved the soy flavour. Service was tip top, we got complementary chips as starters for waiting and chef said it was freshly made.
Cons: the spicy chicken flavour was a bit too much, the sweetness and sauce overpowered the chicken.

Super lovely staff and delicious food! I had the fried chicken and beef quesadilla (also pictured is the sweet chilli kfc and kimchi pancake from a previous visit) - the portion sizes are generous, the wait time is short and the flavours are great! Mexican and Korean fusion may sound strange but it's a combination that really works. Highly recommend!
I love the food at Chimac. My favourites are the kimchi carnitas basket which is basically a korean x mex style of loaded fries with spicy pork. Yum! I'm also a huge fan of the quesidillias with beef bulgogi and the yummy burritos. My only annoyance is that they never pick up the phone for take away orders. Likex never! It forces you to order through uber ests or call the richmond store to get them to pick up the phone. I otherwise love my chimac!
This place is cozy and fabulous. All the food was delicious especially the Mexican fusion tacos. My favourite! Would go back. Just wish all the food could have fit on the table.

3 of us had dinner here on a Saturday. We were the first ones there as we came early. We ordered the spicy pork quesadillas (4 slices) , spicy pork kimchi loaded fries and half of a wonder soy chicken. I really enjoyed the quesadillas..I would totally recommend it! The fried chicken was juicy and tender however I wished that there was more sauce. A nice place to come and try Korean/Mexican fusion cuisine.
We have been here twice mainly because we were around the area. Fried chicken is awesome. Really tasty and crunchy. However, go easy on the chilli cos it is hot. The kimchi pancake is also darn delicious. The tacos on the other hand with Korean flavour was good but not something we would order again because we just prefer our tacos with mexican flavour. If you are around the area, check this place out.
Love the unique fix that Chimac has. The combination of mexican and korean food takes the beautiful flavours of kimchi, bulgogi and tortillas in their quesadillas and loaded fries. Have had good experiences overall but food quality can be inconsistent. The staff is very understanding and attentive though.
The fried chicken was delicious!! Cooked to perfection and flavoured well. It was unfortunate that the actual chicken could have been meatier and softer, but the complaint is minor.
The accompanying sides were also well done. Will be back for more when i’m up for some quality comfort food!

Definitely the best joint for Korean fried chicken. The chicken is perfectly fried and seasoned. The Mexican fusion mix works really well. The kimchi carnitas basket, tacos and quesadilla are a must try. Such a hidden gem in West Melb.
I don’t usually rate restaurants based on UberEATS however this one I felt needed a rating since I’ve also already been to the venue a couple of times .
Firstly I have to say any restaurant I’ve ordered via UberEATS always never tastes as good as eating there, fortunately Chimac decided not to fall victim to the same dilemma!

We ordered the Korean friend chicken original, chive dumplings and the bulgogi burrito which one must try to see how Korean and Mexican food fuse together!
My partner doesn’t usually devour food unless it’s very good and she did devour all the dishes we ordered. I think we’ll be ordering from here again 😆
Best Korean fried chicken in Melbourne!!
We had half bloody sweet and half ultra crispy fried chicken, both are great! Their chicken is in A+ quality and can actually taste it. I like the idea of Korean Mexico fusion, and the tacos are fantastic. Will definitely go back again!
Ordered Kimchi Pancake and the Ultra Crispy and Wonder Soy chicken. Both were really tasty, the Kimchi Pancake was one of the best, if not the best I've had in Melbourne. It was crispy and thick, unlike many around which are often soggy.
The chicken was really juicy and crispy, but ours lacked sauce which is where it lost some of its flavour. Overall was an awesome meal and would defs go back!

Chimac combined very well Korean and Mexican. Fried Chicken are different from other Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) they make good in their way . Spicy pork taco is the best !!

Small little fried chicken shop that has seating for about up to 20 people. Mexican Korean fusion. I loved the concept. Loved the quesadilla the most. Best off to come with a few friends so you can try all the Mexican Korean fusion foods such as the burritos and tacos as well. The fried chicken tasted like any other fried chicken so nothing too special but would recommend if you enjoy both Mexican and Korean.

A Korean friend of mine reccommended me this place so tonight was all set for a dinner date.
As soon as you enter you get this good vibe from a great edgy funky looking joint that sets the night on the right track.
We ordered a Brunswick Bitter ($7), a Mix Match Fried Chicken Platter ($34 Sweet Chilli and Garlic&Soy) and a bowl of chips ($6).
They also served us a free snack, some sort of fried sticks, a mysterious element that is still puzzling us.
Dinner arrived and the chicken was deliciously cooked, abundance of sauce and crispy as you hoped for.

We loved the Bugolgi tacos, the flavors were absolutely amazing, but the meat was a little sinewy, portion sizes were really generous as well. The fried chicken was really disappointing though, dry and flavorless, perhaps we should've tried the sweet chilly one instead. I'd definitely come back for more tacos.
Food: A great place for a hot meal in this freezing winter. The dumplings were great, thin and crispy skin with moist fillings. It was well seasoned and flavoursome. The fried chicken was a godsend. It tasted similar with their spices quite similar to KFC.
Drinks: A tad too sweet for the Korean apple juice. However, the bite size pulps were invigorating.
Service: Friendly and polite, love the great service.

It was a bit of a shame that there were so many unavailable menu items on the night that we visited as the menu here isn’t that big to begin with. That being said, what we did manage to order was tasty and satisfying. So if you haven’t had Korean-Mexican fusion before (or you’ve had but are looking for somewhere decent), give this cosy little place a try.

Came here on a Friday night for dinner and drinks, and ordered a bottle of soju, a the half and half portion of fried chicken dressed in the soy and sweet chilli sauce, as well as the Korean-Mexican tacos, quesadilla and burrito. Was blown away by how well the Korean and Mexican flavours fused together with the tacos, quesadilla and burrito (with spicy pork, bulgogi and spicy pork respectively). The punchy flavours of the chicken were also great, with the price similar to other Korean fried chicken offerings such as Gami. Overall, very good value for some very unique and delicious food, though service at times was a little harried.
Absolutely loved this restaurant!! The people are great, the food is fantastic!! I had the wonder soy and the ultra crispy chicken and it tasted delicious!!! Highly recommended to go there if you're looking for finger-licking Korean fried chicken.
gotta love chimac. Nice little venue. Open kitchen so we can watch them work their magic.. The tacos are amazing as are the other fusion dishes on offer!

What a cute little place. When we first heard about Chimac we were very unsure.
After reading a few reviews we thought we'd give it a go and we are really glad we did.
We got the following dishes....
Kimchi Carnitas...... Most comparable to nachos but with fries. Yummy kimchi, freshly chopped tomatoes and jalapeño topped with mayo
Ta Kor Bulgogi...... These soft shell tacos were tasty and topped with crispy fresh cabbage. Which added a fresh element on this spin of a taco
Mix and Match Fried Chicken, Ultra Crispy and Wonder Soy..... This would have to be the crispiest chicken I have ever tasted. There was three of us and this was a bit of a chicken overload. The dish is quite generous and filling. Would be good to share amongst 4-5 people and maybe get some extra dishes.

Very very good fried chicken, and certainly lives up to its billing. Wash it down with any of the korean beers offered and it makes for an excellent meal. The urban snacks are also very tasty, but definitely do get the fried chicken. I usually get a serve of ultra crispy, and a mix of the bloody sweet and wonder soy, then a Hite or Cass. Heavenly.
We went for after work do with the usual gang. We had a great time. Loved the chicken but the fav I think was the quesadilla!! So yum!! Fried chicken was just as delicious though.
I've been here a few times already but just have't reviewed this place! Came here last night with the bf and we ordered a half serve of the soy chicken, the kim chi carnitas and the lunch box.
Love the chicken here. Lovely and moist and batter is nice and crunchy! The carnitas were so good! It was almost like having a korean poutine! and the lunch box is always a favourite.
Food was different, fries was awesome. Kimchi pancake was slightly oliy but very tasty, chicken unfortunately loses to nene...staff were very friendly service was excellent.

Have visited this cute Korean restaurant with Mexican fusion food twice. The food has been quite good both times, with large servings for the price point. Fried chicken is excellent. I think this is a great place for diners of 3 or more, in order to share in the array of food.
The best sweet chilli friend chicken that I've had in Melbourne! The hall staff is really friendly and when we asked her to give us extra sauce and sweet radish, she gave us with a big smile. I would definitely go back to this place over and over again!

The location is pretty close by to my place so it is very convenient. Spicy pork tacos were also a hit! I tried the chimac chicken with bloody sweet sauce and wonder soy on the sides.
Was taken here for dinner by my partners good friend and from the first bite I was impressed. An interesting combination of Korean and Mexican makes for an enjoyable dining experience. Food is very well priced and just bursts with flavour. I really enjoyed the sweet chilli chicken as well as the bulgogi quesadillas. A must try in Melbourne!
Seafood pancake!! Wondersoy chicken! Hot sauces! I've consumed a lot of fried chicken and Chimac rules supreme. Consistantly good. Had another ace feed here last night. Pickled radish! Had 10 people for my bday dinner- table full of food, jugs of beer, then extra chicken and tacos. $30 each and everyone hapoily contributed for a nice tip for the loverly staff. The K-pop music is appalling but is so bad it's good. Winner winner chicken dinner! I love you Chimac! Xx
Fried gami chicken very cute vibe, full of flavour and would go back again and again. The plain fried chicken was my favourite but the soy flavour wasn't to bad either.
Chimac and Chimac Plus will always be my go to Korean fried chicken. Soy chicken would be my favourite out of the flavours. If you have the bloody sweet chicken, your salty palate will overpower the lighter taste of the soy so I would recommend having the soy first if you're mixing flavours. Kimchi basket is a bit pricey but it's a classic starter to the meal. I would also recommend the the quesadillas (one of my favourites) and tacos. Spicy pork or bulgogi for the fillings are both delicious so it doesn't matter what you pick
Pleasant surprise, came here with a couple of friends, service was lacking but the food was tasty. Mix of Mexican and Korean, though the fried chicken couldn't compare to Gami, as I found it dry and over fried. Their tacos and quesadillas were delicious and full of flavour. Plump Boy spicy pork rice bowl w stir fired vegetables, fried shallot, sunny up egg, mozzarella cheese and crushed peanut. After mixing up the dish, you have various flavours which all explode your tastebuds!
Korea and Mexico – geographically they are oceans apart. Cuisine wise, the two vastly distinguishable cuisines are a marriage in heaven. The tacos and quesadillas at this Korean bistro are seriously good. Tortillas are paired with Korean ingredients: spicy pork, beef bulgogi and kimchi. All loaded with shredded cabbage, pickled daikon and salsas for a kick of vibrant freshness. About a million times superior to the gastronomic nightmare that is Tex-Mex cuisine. Korean Quesadilla (Spicy Pork) Chimac is a Korean slash Mexican slash Western fusion restaurant located in West Melbourne. Other than the Korean Quesadilla we ordered, we wanted to order various taco flavours as well, but there weren't enough stomachs to share the ordeal. Maybe next time. Not just Spicy Pork, the Korean Quesadilla has two other options, the Bulgogi or the Kimchi. There was sufficient cheese that lubricates the pork and it oozes out from every bite I took. The corn tortilla was very crisp, and cooked just right, achieving that crepe-like texture. This dish is highly recommended not just by me and my partners in crime, but also by many other Instagram users who had visited the restaurant. Kimchi Fries I could imagine that this would be so amazing if you are trying it for the first time. However, I have tried several Kimchi Fries before at various places and I would suggest you try the one at Chick-In , my absolute favourite. Chick In's Kimchi Fries would be slightly more deep fried. It also has fries, plentiful of sour cream, more cheese (parmesan), more kimchi. Chimac Chicken (Ultra Spicy + Wonder Soy) We ordered a whole chicken with flavours of half in half. The Ultra Spicy had more satisfying punch of flavour, and trust me, its not that spicy. The Wonder Soy barely had any soy flavour or perhaps they forgot to add soy on it? We couldn't tell. Chimac opens only during dinner time. Everyone across our tables seems to be having just chicken and a good jug of beer. My personal verdict for Chimac is that it would be worthy to come here if you want a good Korean fusion like the Korean Quesadilla, maybe the tacos as well. If you're up for classic good fried chicken, opt for Chick-In or Gami Chicken . And if you want the best Kimchi Fries in town, unquestionably, hands down it'll be Chick-In . Despite the loose filling, the tacos were neatly presented. The mix of soft Korean pork under a top of crunchy salad, wrapped up in a taco gives a pleasant texture in your mouth as you munch. A little messy to eat but fun to try...

Best KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) in Melb!. I love a good piece of fried chicken and Koreans do it really well judging by how many fried chicken stores there are in Korea (you would be surprised). Chimac, along with their fusion of Mexican and Korean dishes, have amazing fried chicken. My favorite is the "Wonder Soy" chicken where, despite being covered in a delicious sauce, the batter remains crispy and crunchy! This is best complemented with a serve of kimchi carnitas fries and a jug of Brunswick Bitter! I'm also a fan of their pork tacos whilst my friends prefer the cheese filled and toasted quesadillas. I don't know how or why but the Korean-Mexican fusion just works! They have an exceptional kimchi pancake too. A good place to hang out with mates and eat, I have taken a number of my friends and work colleagues here and none have left disappointed! They also have a place in Richmond, Chimac Plus, which is bigger and also serves Korean BBQ. But i would recommend sticking with the chicken and beer :) And yes, this place is better than Gami
Been here a heap of times and its never dissapointed. Nowadays this place is even more busy you pretty much have to make a booking to get in if you go around peak times. its basically a fusion of korean style meats in mexican type dishes. I always go the quesadillas cos i love that ISH. but everything is good ive basically had it all including the korean fried chicken. if you love korean and mexican its a no brainer!! so go try it!

Kfc ain't got nothing on these korean geniuses. Best chicken in Melbourne hands down. Many of my friends have recommended Chimac but i have just never had the chance to check it out. I'm so glad i finally have ! I ordered the sweet soy chicken and korean tacos, to keep it simple i couldn't hold back the grinning and the tears over the moist chicken and amazing flavors that was in my mouth. Definitely recommended and will be back for more.

Fried chicken-- if comparing with gami, gami is better. Went for dinner and original fried chicken was very crispy and soy flavor was delicious but other marinated sauce wasn't as tasty and compare with gami, gami serves more bigger portion with same price.
Korean/Mexican food together? Brilliant!. The bulgogi quesadilla and seafood pancake - highly recommended. I thought the spicy pork tacos were good as well but my friend found it a little too sweet. As for the fried chicken, Gami still does it the best.

Didn't live up to the hype but still good. Been anticipating a visit to Chimac for a while to try their legendary fried chicken and Mexican-Korean fusion dishes with a few friends. The place is pretty small and a little dingy with about half a dozen tables. Started with the pork tacos and they were awesome. Great flavours and the coleslaw went really well with the spicy pork. It was the highlight of the visit and I would order them again next time for sure. We also ordered the kimchi fries which were $15. I didn't try them (saving myself for the chicken) and was told that it was pretty good overall but nothing spectacular. Shoestring chips with some kimchi, cheese, pork and jalapeños. Now it was chicken time. We ordered a full chicken with half soy and half "bloody" sweet sauces. The chicken was nice but could have been crunchier. The batter probably wasn't think enough so any crunchiness was overtaken by the sauces. The soy was the winner of the two with the bloody sweet sauce being too thick and sticky. Overall the visit was well worth it although probably didn't live up to the lofty expectations that I had for it (might be my fault to expecting so much). I would go back so that is why it gets a thumbs up from me.
Worth the hype and the wait. Hot tip: settle in at the Drunk Poet pub next door, get a couple of pints into you, order the soy chicken and prawn dish from Chimac (they will deliver to pub), go back to your pint and wait for the mind blowing fried chicken and prawn experience. Great value, amazing food.
Nyaaaaam.. Nice cosy place, a no fuss restaurant. The Korean bulgogi tacos were great, nice balance of freshness against the bulgogi. Korean fried chicken is good and we ordered the carnitas fries - seemed spicy at the start but not really after while.

Love Chimac!. If you're like me and like bold flavours, Chimac will make you very happy. My boyfriend and I are fans of both mexican and korean flavours, but we never knew how great they go together until we've found this gem. The chicken is great (Wonder Soy being a favourite, we've had one Ultra Crispy that was a bit overcooked), the spicy pork tacos are extremely pleasing, with deeply sweet soft meat balanced with crunchy-fresh korean slaw. The carnitas basket has sweet-savoury crumbs of braised pork interlaced with spicy-tangy kimchi and creamy melted mozzarella. Food heaven. Of all the good Korean places around Victoria Market, Chimac is our favourite so far!

Best Korean Fried Chicken. I've been to a few Korean Fried Chicken places in Melbourne now. Chimac is easily the best. The batter on the original recipe chicken is excellent and the Soy & Garlic flavouring is AMAZING.

DELICIOUS!!. Had dinner here this evening. Whoa! Far exceeded our expectations. Lucky we booked a table cause it was full and they were having to turn people away. Very funky decor and great atmosphere. We has a serve of spicy pork tacos for entree. Perfect fusion tacos. Everything was done right, down to the soft tortilla that looked like it may of been homemade. We shared a whole crispy fried chicken. Mmmmmm heaven! So crunchy, so succulent, so delicious! Also had a pitcher of Brunswick Bitter which went fabulously with the chicken. Will definitely be going back very soon! New favourite.
