Review San Luca - Melbourne

Coffee & croissant while waiting for Visual Q to open. Great croissants and coffee, friendly and smiling staff, what more do you need in the morning music nice and not intrusive

Great assortment of fresh sandwiches and baguettes. Wish the coffee was better. Ordered it and couldn't drink it. Even though I asked them if they could add an extra 1/2 a shot if coffee.

Delicious comfort food and great coffee. They also have a great range of alternative milks. My favourite things on the menu are the bacon bagel and bocconcini baguette. Soups, cakes and other bakes are also excellent. My go to on Toorak Road.

I visited San Luca on Saturday the 17th of April 2021 for a quick breakfast. The costumer service is amazing. The lovely girl that served me was very assisting and so kind. The atmosphere is very calming, the music is amazing and there is great communication between staff. The food was warm and very tasty. The waitress offered me table water with the biggest smile which I really appreciated. I 100% recommend this place.

Walking past San Luca and decided to grab a quick takeaway coffee. The barista was friendly, and our coffee was lovely. It's in a busy area, and gets a lot of passing traffic.

The treats on offer looked really good so I decided to grab a lemon tart. For something so simple it was actually really good. I was happy with the service and quality of food and coffee, so next time I will dine in and try some of their menu items.

3.5

For those wishing to grab a quick bite or a caffeine fix in a hurry, San Luca looks to be the spot to do so. While I chose to eat in, the majority who stopped by were in and out in a flash.

I wasn't quite fond of the coffee, as I found it a bit bitter, but it did it's job to meet my caffeine needs.

The food, while ordinary, was undeniably tasty. I don't often see olive toast being used so I was delighted to see that the chicken sandwich came sandwiched between two slices of olive toast. The olives studded within the toast boosted the flavour of what would otherwise be a run of the mill chicken sandwich tenfold, adding a sharp piquant taste that punctuates each mouthful.

The banana bread was simple but satisfying, even if it wasn't the most banana-ish banana bread that I have had. There is just something comforting about a warm and moist banana bread slathered with lots of butter.

The friendly and prompt service was well-suited to handle those customers on the go, and of course, those dining in also benefits from the quick and efficient service.

A nice place to sit down and have a cup of tea. A good (and large) choice of small cakes and muffins. Service us very professional and efficient.

Rude service and not child-friendly.

Our first and last visit to San Luca was far from being pleasant. The owner was very rude to our 4 year old son who was waiting for his dad paying his takeaway sandwich while sitting on one of the empty table. As any young children our son showed interest in the sugar container on the table, holding it without doing anything disruptive. The owner's reaction was to grab the sugar container directly from his hand and place it on another table without saying a word. We were standing near our son and were shocked, as he could have easily talked to us if he has any concern. It was an uncalled for, plain rude service. This is not a way to treat a child and customer.

Food 2: good coffee! Decent food & healthy emma & tom's options

Service 1: friendly & talkative 😉

Decor 1: a bit small - more for grab & go 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nice guys who run the place, always very friendly. I just get take away coffees, muffins and croissants from here and they are really good. The food cabinet with macaroons and other sandwiches always looks really tempting.
Could be a bit tidier inside the premises and appealing for customers; but other then that a great little venue.

Great little cafe good food friendly service the boys make this place what it is! Always friendly and cheerful and the food and coffee is great! Love going here and enjoying my signature macaroon or homemade Monte Carlo biscuit! Highly recommended!

A quaint little café with a good vibe to it.

Got the Eggs Benedict. Was served well, good temperature, generous portion, overall satisfying. Ham wasn't burnt, nor was the muffin, the gggs were perfect, and the hollandaise sauce was just right.

A small portion meal that is quite satisfying.

Always such beautiful friendly faces. Amazing coffee and fantastic food. It's the service that makes this place! The gentleman behind the counter are always so polite and friendly, they treat you as if you have been a regular customer. The place is cosy and comfy. It's always busy which shows how popular it is. Will forever be my go to

Light aroma coffee unlike real Italian's. Excellent Services & well looking sandwiches bar. Creamy latte without nice flavor. I wish coffee was good.

Great coffee and nice breakfast paninis. Customer service could be a bit more friendly. It seems like the staff didnt care about the tourists as much as their regular customers. Arent we all paying the same $?

Great Coffee. Great strong coffee, nice people. Simple good food. Love the place. Used to go with our friend's to 'Picnic' up the road, but that place has gone downhill. All our staff now come to San Luca for a nice welcome and great coffee.

A great cafe for a relaxed breakfast or lunch. The breakfast menu is pretty simple but good and the little brioche buns with scrambled eggs and spinach are delicious. Great Italian sandwiches but don't leave it too late or you'll miss out. Angelo, Paul & David are so lovely and make the effort to know their customers by name. Highly recommended.

Cosy and Delicious. I came in with one of my friends before we went and had our hair done on the weekend for a quick bite to eat and we weren't disappointed. First the staff were very friendly and the whole vibe of the café had a very European feel; complete with other Europeans eating inside and out (like us)

We ordered the prosciutto, mozzarella and tomato flatbread toasted and it was delicious. I also loved their cute selection of beverages that are a bit different to what you usually find in the cafes in the area.

Overall the price was good, the food was good and the café was nice. I will definitely be back. The cakes in the counter area also looked delicious as did the chicken schnitzel sandwich!

San Luca is my favourite cafe in Melbourne by far. It's not pretentious, and they have great breakfast food. Paul, David and David's dad are spectacular people, and it's great to wake up to them in the morning!

Seriously, when will there be some competition here ? They hav half a dozen sandwiches which are finished by 1.30. Can't they make some more ? The Italian thing will only get u so far.

A wonderful little cafe,(taken over last year by Paul, David, & Angelo). Fantastic coffee, delicious house made piadine, panini, salads, and cakes. Now open 7 days/week, breakfast all day on weekends. Beer & wine also available. Extremely friendly service and a laid back atmosphere help make this place very popular with the locals. Drop in for a piadina with prosciutto, rocket, & asiago cheese or maybe a coffee and a scrumptious piece of cake. I'm sure you'll receive a warm welcome!

Umbrellas. Comfy chairs at each table would be more attractive but the umbrellas on a lovely Spring Melbourne morning make up for it :)

These guys make authentic Italian panini's with amazing sourdough bread and nothing but the freshest ingredients. The coffee is superb and the service very friendly.

Boy Timex. Open at 7am weekdays, I come here for coffee and a small breakfast most days. The coffee is excellent and the staff friendly and responsive - in contrast with my state at that time of day. An excellent cafe and I would commend it to all.

Mouth-watering brilliance. There is nothing I look forward to more than my morning coffee at San Luca Cafe on my way to work. This delicious blend of coffee and fantastic staff is what everyone would want to experience in the early hours of the day. Even under pressure and a full house of people, the staff maintain their cool and can manage to keep the cafe looking clean and tidy whilst serving customers. From their morning ham and cheese omelette's to their lunch piadina's with proscuitto (Mentioning it is all baked on premises), San Luca's menu offer various meals for either a filling breakfast or a quick lunch on the go.

With an appetizing menu, vibrant coffee flavour and an always smiling staff, San Luca can do nothing wrong.

Even on a rainy cold day the atmosphere of San luca bought mr back to my time in Italy...the staff are friendly and the food was tasteful. What a great place to sit and watch the world go by. Highly recommend

Great coffee and delicious menu selections, especially for breakfast. The E&B bagels are real winners and their Italian cakes are baked on the premise. Staff are really friendly. Very popular with the locals. I'm on my way there now ....

2 and three quarter thumbs up for great paninis. San Luca is one of my locals and is a great spot for a breakfast or lunch. The range of piadinas, panninis etc is really great with some very tasty combinations. My favourite is the tuna mayo with boiled egg - scrummy. Althought a close second is the piccolini with thin slice of pancetta, sliced egg and aioli which is just the right size for my brekkie with an espresso.

Coffee when pulled by Massimo is good but can vary when someone else is on the machine so not quite 3 thumbs up.

Service is usually friendly and professional. And very italian which is nice.
