If you work/study at/around RMIT and looking for a quick meal this is your place. The coffee is decent (not great, not comparing with a niche coffee shop) and they have a wide variety of sandwiches, rolls, sweets, salads and other bits and pieces you'd expect to find at a predominantly take-away cafe. All their sandwiches/wraps are made in the morning so you will get warm rocket/salad leaves if you want your sandwich toasted. Also their salads are never dressed properly, so if you're big on dressing/sauce like me probably give the salads a miss. Brownie points for location, convenience and soup in the colder months. For when I'm hungry and have 10 minutes before my next class.
Always came here for a nice warm coffee during my winter studies a couple of years back as well as some flippin' delicious burgers! I visited recently and enjoyed the same experience!Keep it up guys
We walk down almost every morning for coffee, food or some sweet treats. One things for sure, we always come to a friendly face! Shoutout to Kel, Kathryn, Matt and the rest of the Vine team for always being so great!
Second coffee of the day and this was much better than the first. Fruity and bold, my skinny latte was the perfect antidote for the terrible weather, albeit being a bit too hot, but then again maybe this was why I found the heat comforting instead of annoying to drink. Lots of yummy sandwiches and sweets. Can't go wrong with the soup of the day - lamb shank and barley for today - and muffins for a quick bite during lunch. Great service from the girls behind the counter, prompt and with a smile.
The staff at The Vine never fail to give good service! I love the environment and the aura that the staff sets here.. Makes me feel nice and cozy even when it's hectic during peak hours.

I have had a love hate relationship with this place, having been disappointed with their sandwiches just as much as I have been delighted by them. Today though, I decided to return for a quick, cheap meal and left deciding that I'd be returning to vine more often! I had a brie, avocado, chicken breast, spinach and aioli in a french olive baguette. All of my most favourite foods in one! Only complaint was that the chicken was a bit dry but that was probably because I had asked to get it toasted which cooked the chicken twice through... For $9.30 I couldn't complain.

Coffee so good I didn't finish my pastry. I popped into The Vine one morning before an all-day conference on psychiatric nursing at a nearby hotel, because the conference only had percolator coffee. I'd rather pay my own money for a decent flat white than drink drip coffee for free. The cuppa I got from The Vine was typical good Melbourne brew, a bit zingy-er with its crema bite (but not in a bad way) than the flat white I had had the day before from the Bean Project kiosk around the corner. I like having something sweet with my caffeine fix, and the caramel slice -- with peanut butter, added bonus! -- that I got from The Vine was fine. But the sweetness of the slice overwhelmed the coffee's taste in my mouth. So I stopped eating the pastry 2/3 of the way through in order to savour the coffee on its own. That's how much I enjoyed The Vine's flat white. (I took the rest of the slice home to have for dessert. I'm no pastry-wastrel.)
Very good coffe, if a little slow (but they are really improved from last year). Amazing ambiance for what is a university cafe.

In the middle of the hip NOLA Precinct, this cafe offers a quiet place to stop for coffee or tea. Selection of sandwiches, wraps and rolls plus a selection of cakes and other sweets. Ground floor of Building 80 of RMIT with direct entry off Swanston Street. Takeaway coffee beans freshly ground are also available.
Greeted in the most Melbourne way by the friendliest barista one could hope for. Sharul is an absolute legend and made ordering a morning coffee and a toasted croissant a total memory. 10/10 recommend!
Service was fast and friendly.. Great Axil coffee and toastie for an unbelievable low price. Highly recommend the Vine at RMIT.
We run Shut Up and Write sessions here every Wednesday morning from 9 am. We like it. The coffee is good, the wifi is fast and it isn't too crowded or noisy. Thanks, Vine, for hosting us.
i walked in and said to the man that i need something to eat that’s quick and easy because i had a tram to catch, he immediately helped me find something fast, told me exactly how long it will take and made it for me, he had a really good attitude and was super nice, overall great experience here, will be returning :)
