Absolutely love old crystal jade! One of my favourite yumchas to visit. Although there could be a bit of a line it is all worth it because the food is delicious & is always consistent.
Cosy place for hot pot! The staff are great. Mushroom soup was so delish.
Delicious fish soup base, really unique base for hot pot.
Honestly great service for a Chinese restaurant and loved the soup base. Everything was fresh, but alittle pricey (or maybe we just ate too much)
Food was fantastic but pricey (spent $150 for two with the half price fish soup promotion).
Do :
fish soup! It is very yummy and came with a plate of fish and lots of vegetables. Fish balls- they are fresh and chewy. Wagyu- tasty but expensive. Sesame sauce - the special sesame sauce here is outstandingly flavorsome.
Not very impressive- the coconut jelly dessert. It could be a better dessert for $15.
Overall a good experience. The restaurant was extremely busy- hard to get in without a booking.
Food 4/5
Service 5/5
Environment 5/5
I strongly recommended the fish soup, very fresh and strong flavor, the best for this cold weather. And I also recommended if you have enough budget, try the live fish instead of others. For the hot pot, the best always fresh. And only fish can make you happy. We also tried the fresh handmade fish balls and prawn balls, which taste amazing.
The seafood plate and other meat were just average.
This is easily my favorite hot pot joint. Make sure you book head for this one as wait times can leave you hangry. Old Crystal Jade offers an ala carte menu and the food is so fresh and great quality. My favorites are the wagyu beef that melts in your mouth and the juicy king prawns. The service here is exceptional and the staff are very attentive. I recommend coming in a group so you can order more dishes to share as they have a good variety of menu items to choose from and portion sizes are decent.
Absolutely love this place for hotpot!
The fish soup base is a must! (Don't think I've had a fish soup base quite like this at other hot pot restaurants). Love a variety of condiments to mix up your sauce concoction and to suit your palette, actually my fav to do before a hot pot session! Because sauce is key to dipping in your food! (game changer)
As you can tell, I'm getting quite excited just writing up this review.
This place is on the much pricier side, so be prepared to splurge a little (or a lot) otherwise make sure you order sufficiently. There's an unlimited refill of soup so that itself can already make you quite full (if you're not willing to splurge)
All their hot pot "toppings" are super fresh and of good quality ingredients. Make sure you get the beef slices (can't do a hotpot without beef), fish is great too and all their veg/mushroom sides! Can't go wrong with what you order essentially. All rounder excellent place to eat and fantastic service!
If you like alleyway food , this is the one! Hiding inside Chinatown gotta GPS the location , very bricky front door , by walking inside feels cold but friendly staff , the menu is way too pricey for a single person , I ate $50 before I get full :) the hot pots pretty fresh and the prawns are nice ,,,, 4.5/5 so I guess I give a 5 star :) can’t complaint much :)
I never knew that this place existed until my colleagues took me here.
Love the fish soup base. Make sure you enjoy the soup before you start cooking the stuff in the soup. The produce are fresh but can get a rather pricey if you have only 2 people dining.
The staff were very friendly and attentive, taking plates away, changing our plates, asking if we want more drinks etc.
Be sure to book a table to avoid disappointment
Went for late dinner and happy to have a gd promotion going on when ordering the Tiger Grouper Hotpot. Fresh ingredients and very gd service staff. But it's a little expensive if without the promotion. Still a gd place for hotpot in a cold winter night.
I have to say the hotpot in this place is totally shocked me, the soup is the best I can ever have no kidding, decoration is great, service is good, highly recommend. Also love the fact of the restaurant is actually quite hidden, feel mysterious.
Great hot pot without the MSG, soup base is rich and creamy! The veggies and meat were very fresh. Would recommend this to hotpot lovers.
Great Service. They filled your drinks up before you do when there's not that busy.
Fresh food. As good as you can see by pictures. Fantastic soup and ingredients. Would definitely coming back.
Excellent service, quality food. Watermelon juice, while good, was pricey. Around $40pp.
Best hotpot restaurant in Melbourne, the food is so good & fresh!! Hidden gem!!
Really happy with the place. Yummy food very good service
